I was one of those girls in the front row. I got a kiss at every one of the 10 concerts I went to, plus he talked to me, used my handkerchief to wipe his face. He made you feel like he was singing to you personally. Great kisser and smelled divine. The very best memory I have of being 21. Love him still! He loved his fans and said if they wanted the shirt off his back, they could have it because they put it there.💖💖💖

I was at a concert when he pulled up an eight year old blind girl up on stage and kissed her on the cheek and let her rub his face then he gave her a scarf and ask his personal doctor to examine her to see if there was anything that could be done for her. He loves the people who come to his concerts. Elvis was a giving person.🐕‍🦺🇺🇲

I’m 83 years old. I heard Elvis sing on his first recordings of That’s Alright Mama, & Heartbreak Hotel. My friends & I played the 45rpm record over & over. He was a beautiful person! It’s so sad that he was addicted to uppers & downers. I can see how that happened!
He couldn’t have a normal life! Drs were prescribing those drugs in the 60s & 70s, not realizing how dangerous they were. The drugs made his physical problems worse. I’ve had addicts in my family. You can’t stop them! The drugs & alcohol are too strong to overcome!
So tragic! I believe that I will see Elvis in Heaven, singing the gospel songs that he loved the most! Britt, you are so much fun to watch! ❤️

@kyleelvis3577 Oh I love it when people like you call me a troll. Now I have the perfect opportunity to expose you for the overly under educated red neck trailer park living fool you are. I will type this slowly just for you. Now, tell me why it is okay for me to see the same names writing the same comments about Elvis, yet I don't call them a troll? Let me make it easier for you. Is it by your low standards that it is okay for people to make a comment about Elvis so long as, it paints Elvis in the light you want him to be seen in? And according to you I am a troll because I make a comment about Elvis that you don't want people to see, right? Is it your mission in life to stamp out freedom of speech too? Why is it you don't call them a troll? Now, if you don't answer, then you have not only proven to me that you indeed are an overly under educated red neck trailer park living fool but every one else that will read this. So I strongly suggest you answer back. remember! it is you that is the fool and the troll, because it is you that is trolling me!

  • @christophertyler3425

This wasn't a 70s thing, it was an Elvis thing. Elvis, also on tour a few times, brought out his jewelry box and gave rings and things, to the fans. But that was usually only 1 or 2 pieces if a little child caught his eye or someone who was disabled. However, that is why his jeweler traveled with him. However, he did give away an estimated $250,000 worth of jewelry away in North Carolina, in 1975, I believe. (that's actually 1.4 million in today's money)
While you're spot on with your analysis, as usual, as this was filmed for the documentary "Elvis: That's the Way It Is", in 1970, while Elvis was in residency at the International Hotel, then the largest hotel in the world. (it later became the Hilton) The hotel wasn't built for him, but it was built with him in mind to be the new star attraction in Vegas and it worked. As Elvis broke Sammy Davis Jr.'s, Sinatra's; anyone you can think of.... their attendance records.
In fact, when all the workers in Vegas went on strike and all the hotels were suffering major losses in revenue, all the hotel owners gathered and were all going to pitch in to bring Elvis to town as he was the only person in the world, big enough, who could make a difference. However, the strike ended before they struck a deal.
At this time, too, you can really tell Elvis enjoyed Las Vegas. And he was booked there for two solid months a year, though separated. He was also the highest paid entertainer, of course, but considering how he helped to bring in fans to all the other hotels, as well - which no one else has yet to ever do again - he should have been paid ten times as much as he was. Especially as he actually did 2 shows per day & sometimes 3, if there was a special request. When that kind of work schedule is essentially considered crazy, today, and not even the most average of celebrities would do more than one show.
It's sad, too, as this, along with apathy b/c he never got to tour the world (due to Colonel Parker being an illegal alien), is what killed him. As he was essentially trapped in a gilded cage. When, at first, it was new and fun, having the whole top floor of the hotel to himself and being able to go out undercover, late at night, to watch other acts. But after the first few years, he couldn't stand it and the strain on his heart was immense. Since Elvis obviously enjoyed an immense natural high doing the first show, then would have to calm down. Then he'd do it all over again at the evening show, which was typically more raucous, and then he was at such an emotional peak after that show that he would have to take sleeping pills to relax and fall asleep. Anyone who has ever taken sleeping pills knows, too, that even after you wake up you're groggy, and in Elvis' situation - having to soon go do another show after awaking - the doctor would give him some type of pill to get going again.
So, ultimately, there's no way the heart can take that up and down, see saw type repetition, year after year after year.

It's helpful to remember that Elvis was not only the King of Rock and Roll, loved and idolized by many, but at the same time this was going on, he was a huge successful movie star. It was the dream of many girls and women to get a kiss from Elvis. Knowing this, he did this sometimes at some shows. It wasn't arrogance or pride. He truly loved his fans, and wanted always to let them know how much he appreciated their loyalty to and love for him. This was one way he wanted to let women everywhere know that they were just as pretty, just as desirable, just as worthy as any other woman, and that he did not think himself above or better than anyone. He once said in an interview that they weren't getting a kiss from him, he was getting a kiss from them.

When people enjoyed life, had a great time, etc. I was born in 1971, and in the time I grew up, through the 70's, 80's, and most of the 90's things were great, people enjoyed music, and comedy, and did not take comedy as literally as they take it now for example, or take music as literal as they do now, rock music during 70' and 80's mainly was about having a good time.

This was in fact Elvis’ third residency at the International Hotel in the Las Vegas, at the time 1970, it was the largest showroom in Las Vegas with 2000 seats. Elvis would at this time play Vegas twice a year, a month each time @ 2 shows a night, Seven days a week. The hotel later became the Las Vegas Hilton and in 2023 is the Westgate Hotel.

It was all good. That’s what it was like back in the day before people were living terrified of their own shadow and listening to all the wrong people about… You know… The thing that will get you censored. Yeah that’s why many people are uncomfortable seeing this human behavior of affection in these days. Elvis loved his fans and his fans loved him.

He truly is something special. Celebrities don’t love their fans like this, he gave his everything to his fans. Certainly couldn’t kiss many like this. I feel like he kissed over 1000 women between personally and professionally. He’s amazing! I love this man so much. ❤️❤️

This was an Elvis thing. Nobody else did this. And it`s one more proof of his generosity. He knew how much this meant to his fans, so he did it. He kissed young and old women, girls and children on their cheeks.

You say Elvis was a comedian, Britt, but you're a pretty good comedian yourself. I love your reactions, and yes: Love Me Tender was the kissing-song for Elvis. If I was your husband I would put on a white jumpsuit, sing Love Me Tender and hopefully get a kiss from you!❤

They don't call him the king for nothing. During this time, he was 1000 times bigger than any other artist in their prime, ever. I was 5 yo when he passed away and I can remember him being on TV shows and people just casually talking about him all the time. He was a BIG deal for sure.

You’d be pregnant from an Elvis kiss. LMAO! Priceless. I was in high school,in the 70s. To my knowledge maybe Tom Jones might have given out a smooch or two. But in his Vegas concerts Elvis would regularly do this during Love Me Tender. Yes, the 70s was a great time to date. 😂

This concert was a very high energy event before this song and I think he used this to get his breath and energy back but it was very common for Elvis to go thru the crowd in Las Vegas. Kissing was very common during this era. some people just wanted to say they touched him physically.
