Elvis could do almost anything, including sing opera. I loved Elvis! No one can be him. People keep trying. They do not even get his dancing steps right. Longtime fan.
I was 8 years old when Elvis died, my parents took me for a ride to get ice cream and told me Elvis died. I cried for days. I got him and his music at a young age and now in my 50’s I still tear up watching this and remembering that time.
Elvis was suffering from an enlarged heart emphysema a bad liver and this beautiful man wanted so much to entertain his fans. There will never be anyone like him again a true king of rock n roll.
I went to see the movie last Yr and can tell you, I'm not 1 for showing emotion ever. But when Austin butler started this song and cut to elvis, I was bloody in tears. Thank god room was dark. For 20 mins after I left cinema I was so choked I couldn't speak. It took me back to the night news came in he died and this version was played on radio. I'm 65 and shocked that this man can still have that affect on someone who never met him. There was a day he wasn't out of the news or not in a paper in magazine. Yet ironically a lot of newspapers put his passing somewhere around page 5
Like Priscilla said, Elvis never lost his voice right up to the end. It never let him down. Saw him twice in concert. Houston and Vegas in 1970. Awesome.
I tear when I see this. Elvis was out of breath because his health was failing badly. He died two months after this incredible performance. His voice NEVER failed him and he always gave the audience his soul. R.I.P. best singer ever!

You're so right. I didn't get Elvis when I was younger. But, now that I'm 51, I totally get Elvis. I may not listen to his songs often. But, I get it now.
He sang this and wrote this because the love of his life was gone from his life, he knew she would never come back, but he didn’t blame her because he knew in the end his own folly drove her away. This was his tragic, sorrowful “i’m sorry, this is what I wish could have been.” This was the song he chose to make his swansong.
My husband saw him live in Baltimore MD. The end of May 1977.he was sick.he came on stage late and had to leave half way thru the performance.he returned 30 min.later and played piano for a while.he did this song blue Christmas and others.he gave the fans their money's worth.he said he did not weigh the 250 lbs.stomach a little big but.not fat.
@2yoyoyo1Unplugged he didn't actually write the song, but yes, he was singing it to the love of his life, for sure. The Rightous Brothers, with the solo sung by Bobby Hatfield, made the song popular in 1965. But it was written for the movie "UNCHAINED" in 1955 and sung by Todd Duncan as the theme song.
I think this is one of the best musical performances of all time. The man was litterally on deaths door step at this point. He could barely talk he was so exhausted but when he started playing the music took over and transported him into another dimension. Truly a masterpiece.
The fact that Elvis could do a performance less than 2 months before his death that has people amazed 47 years after his passing, is the ULTIMATE evidence of his greatness!!
Heartbreaking. You can see he was struggling before the song (from ill health, not gyrating) short of breath, trying to concentrate. Yet the moment he started playing the piano he was transformed. Incredible performance, yet heartbreaking.
Exactly, slurring his words, stoned out of his gourd. But then he starts playing the piano and singing, it's a completely different person, words he was slurring just 1 minute ago are now sung in a strong, deep, in charge. The operatic notes he hits are amazing. The transformation is just amazing,
This rendition is in fact the very last time that Elvis performed before his passing. He truly was and still is the undisputed King of music and the most iconic performer to ever step in front of a microphone.
I was at this last concert. He was so ill it was shocking. Gone just a few weeks later. I recently read a book by the doctor who testified in the court trial of his personal physician, Dr. Nick. Elvis had diseases that hadn’t been discovered yet. He was in so much pain, so much. God took him because he just couldn’t take any more. Rest in peace dear Elvis. I still listen everyday. They blamed it all on drugs. It wasn’t.

I saw him in concert the last two times he played in Chicago, including three months before he passed. As large as he was, the voice was definitely still there. He found places to take extra breaths, but he was phenomenal. I am so blessed to have seen him in concert. Thank you for doing all of these reactions to Elvis. You are adorable in the way you do these reactions. Really wish you could have been alive when Elvis was still alive. I don't think there will ever be another voice like his. RIP, Elvis.
The Righteous Brothers made this a hit in the 60s. Elvis made it a hit again. Fun Fact: Bill Medley and Elvis were great friends. In fact they alternated concerts in Vegas at The International for awhile. Britt you should react to Medley's tribute song to Elvis, "Old Friend".
In 1955 Roy Hamilton was one of the first to record Unchained Melody. Hamilton was one of Elvis' great musical heroes and also a friend. Roy visited Elvis when he was recording in Memphis in 1969, shortly before he passed away.
Britt.. I’ve heard this song performed many times by many different artists over the years but this was spectacular. Elvis had a wicked sense of humour but once the golden tones started… The audience was always “all ears”. His 1968 comeback special, where he wore the iconic black jumpsuit was another performance where his sense of humour was on full display 😆😆😆. Long live The King 👑 ✊👑
First time I heard this song I was 7 years old. My dad was coming home from one of his usual Saturday morning golf games, and he stopped at the mall and got me two things. The first was a sugar cookie, which while I love thouse, I was more excited about what he handed me next. A cassette tape called “The Greatest Performances of Elvis Presley”. The tape had an assortment of tracks, both studio recordings and live performances, ranging from his start in 1953 to the end in 1977. I listened to that tape religiously be it in my room, riding with my mom in her car, or riding with my dad. I had that tape with me a lot. So this song played I don’t know how many times. I remembered even then feeling the power of that vocal. I had no idea then that it was near the end of his life, or what he was going through personally at that time. His manager was keeping him busy with countless gigs and Vegas appearances. He was a greedy money hungry man who took advantage of Elvis, taking 50% of Elvis’ earnings from his live performances in the later years and working him to the point of exhaustion. Elvis also never got over the heartbreak of losing his mother so young, and also his divorce from Priscilla. All of this, mixed with his inherited health issues effected him. People say that it was the pills and unhealthy life choices that killed him. But if you read the book “Destined to die Young” it really dives into the true cause of his death. He had a health condition that was hereditary from his mom’s side of the family. In fact, his mom also ha it. In his case, he had an enlarged heart and an impacted colon. The book shows that even if he’d never taken a pill in his life, he still would’ve most likely died young. As a 7 year old kid, I didn’t know any of this. I just knew I liked what I heard. Seeing it now, and knowing his story, it makes it even more powerful. I would describe it as beautifully heartbreaking. The reason is, because it’s heartbreaking that he was going through all of this at the time, but even in spite of it, when he sang, especially a song like this, he gave it all he had. His voice never wavered one bit. If you ever watch the Elvis movie from 2022, Austin Butler recreated this so beautifully. Worth a watch.
Oh, Britt, this is so heartbreaking to listen to and watch, he passed away a few weeks after this. Tears always flow when this is on but thank you for your wonderful reaction to his essence, we will always love Elvis❤
His body was literally shutting down, he was in pain but still went out and performed cuz it’s what he loved. His voice never left him it’s so unfortunate we didn’t get this elvis voice longer. It was so powerful
When he first starts playing the piano it gives you the chills. When he sings you wanna cry. When he smiles you can’t help but smile. When the build up comes he sounds operatic. The entire song is just, I have no words. I love this man and I am truly obsessed. Thank you for the sweetest review.
I graduated from college in May of 1977 just before he died in August of that year. He was scheduled to perform in Hershey February of 1978. I was planning on sleeping outside for those tickets. I wouldn't have done that for any other performer. Even though this was one of his last performances and he wasn't well. However, his greatest gift, his voice, was still phenomenal. I would have still been THRILLED to be in this audience.
Only 56 days later the KING would die. He was only 42. Imagine how ill he was, how much pain he was in and how rattled his mind may have been that night. You can see how much he was struggling just to function. Yet he was so dedicated and so determined to please his fans, that his performance was still truly powerful and moving. No one knew at the time that this would be his very last concert. His talent was a gift to him from God and we are forever blessed that he shared it with us. He gave us everything he had in every performance right up to the very end. God bless you Brother Presley, Rest in Peace.
I can't believe I get the chance to make the first comment on one of your videos! This video is sad because we can see he is not healthy here, and his time was short, but his voice is still so amazing! Best ever performer! We don't need imitators.
But she's wrong. He wasn't "funny and relaxed". He was dying. From over medication from scurrilous doctors. Hes' a wreck. But a beautiful wreck. It's really sad and glorious at the same time.
Elvis had early cataracts, diabetes, central obesity with thin extremities, signs of Cushing’s Syndrome, no doubt secondary to prednisone, and other meds. A sad case of prescription med dependence, fueled also by an unscrupulous doctor.
Yeah he died on the toilet 3 hours later and what's so horrible is that he was so backed up from the cocaine that he was puking up his own shut so fucking sad😢😢😢
Elvis`s career lasted 24 years (1953 - 1977 ). People are constantly talking about his weight gain, when in fact, he gained weight in the last three years of his life. In the end, his face was bloated, not fat. Some months after this concert, he passed. Elvis was a very sick man but all people mention about him is his drug abuse. He took legal drugs for his various health problems, no street drugs.
@@philhaymes123 I won`t quarrel with you because you have too little knowledge about his actual situation. People who lack knowledge tend to simplify matters, and for them, everything is black or white. Ignorant people wash away all the countless shades of grey although those shades are the stuff our lives are made of.
The King Elvis was like all the american people betryed by a corrupt so called medical system that robs the people of their lives.the worst healthcare in the entire world and dreadful food standards appalling workers rights .it cost the World Elvis Presley❤❤❤❤
And even when he was heavier, and having difficulty with breath control...breathing in general... he was giving his performances 110%. He poured his entire heart and soul out, on that stage... every single show. Was Michael Jackson, or Stevie Winner, or Elton John a great performer? Of course. But Elvis was a step above. He set the bar. And in my opinion, no other performer, in music history, has ever matched the energy and passion of an Elvis concert.
Totally agree.....there have been many truly great singers/performers over the years, still are........BUT there's Elvis, the greatest of all time, and then everyone else.
My opinion is that he and Michael Jackson are tops in the world and always will be, but Elvis was King FIRST! Michael was Elvis's son in law, and also lit the World on fire in a way no one else ever can, like Elvis did.
Best reaction Britt. I did see Elvis in 1976 and 77 in Chicago. In 77 it was the month of May, 3 months before he passed. I was 16 at the time and I liked him but after seeing him in person it was a experience that I won't forgot. Hs voice, charisma, and the connection he had with fans and people. You knew he was something god given but yet he never acted bigger or better than anyone. His appreciation for what the fans gave hime he gave back ten fold and more. Agree, no words can actually describe how much he had in talent, in his heart, and the ability to have you feel his soul when he sang. Truly unbelievable.
Excellent reaction. Brit. You really appreciate Elvis and I think you have a better feel of who he was than many of these long-time fans. I love your Elvis reactions and your perception of his vocal gifts and his sense of humor and his natural charm. Thank you so much. It made watching this much easier when watching it with you.❤❤❤
I was lucky to see him live at the Hilton in Las Vegas in 1975 when I was ten years old. The man was incredible. He had a stage entrance and presence like no one else. He owned the room the moment he stepped out on stage. When George Harrison saw Elvis live in 1972, he said it was like experiencing the god Vishnu descending from the skies. Yeah, it was just like that.
😊He gave everything he had and it breaks my heart how mistreated he was by those who were supposed to care for him. I've loved him since I was 12 and still do.💖👑🔥 That smile still f%#KS me up.
Many, many tried to help him, but he always told them that he knew what he was doing. If his MM men pushed too hard, he fired them-then would hire them back. He thought he knew what he was doing. 😢
Britt, I stumbled across you several weeks ago. What caught my attention was you were reacting to one of Elvis's songs. I am 72 and grew up listening to, and watching his movies, and then I was there in the 70's. I saw him LIVE twice in the mid-70s A lot of entertainers can be loud through their amps, but Elvis's voice was so POWERFUL it really was unreal. He was playful and so confident when on stage, he owned it. I miss him dearly, and that period was so loose and fun. Thank you for playing and reacting to his music, he has so many even in the sixties that would blow you away.
I am 62 years old and I have been a fan of Elvis for most of my life, both my parents loved his music and movies. He truly is the KING in so many ways.
Still a member of the PDC, in poor health and he still brought in the ladies. I love this man so much and his music, l believe, his music saved my life in so many ways.

In 1955 Roy Hamilton was one of the first to record Unchained Melody. Hamilton was one of Elvis' great musical heroes and also a friend. Roy visited Elvis when he was recording in Memphis in 1969, shortly before he passed away.
That's why he's Elvis Presley. The song doesn't make him. He makes the song
This makes me so sad because he was so ill and would soon be gone, but his voice is more magnificent than ever ❤
The greatest entertainer of all time and will never be another like him
Absolutely nobody brings Elvis Presley music like you do darlin hands down ❤👍 !!!
Eddie623 is so right. Thank you, Britt, for the love and respect you show for Elvis.
Elvis music? wtf does that mean?
Elvis my Love ❤❤❤❤
The King, Still had IT
@@susiecafwellbrown2486 … He never lost IT ✊😄
It's so hard to believe that approximately 6 weeks later, he was gone 🥺 Great reaction, as always! Elvis is THE best!
@@sandrabishop502… That was what was truly sad about this video, that it was so close to “the end” ✊😔🕊️
@@sandrabishop502Not the best, the VERY BEST !!!
Simply the King
6:52 This was indeed his goodbye to his fans! This performance is sacred to those of us who love him to this day!
Happy Birthday King!!
He was thinking of Priscilla everytime he sang it.
It took me years to be able to watch this I love and miss him
His body was literally shutting down, he was in pain but still went out and performed cuz it’s what he loved. His voice never left him it’s so unfortunate we didn’t get this elvis voice longer. It was so powerful
There's a saying "A bell isn't a bell until you have rung it - and a song isn't a song until Elvis has sung it"
Never heard it, and I love it! ❤
He truly was THE KING and will always be.
When he first starts playing the piano it gives you the chills. When he sings you wanna cry. When he smiles you can’t help but smile. When the build up comes he sounds operatic. The entire song is just, I have no words. I love this man and I am truly obsessed. Thank you for the sweetest review.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Elvis is absolutely one of a kind. The real King of music
It's weird, how his voice got so much more powerful towards the end of his life? Very high vocal range.
It’s hard to name all the collectives! to describe ELVIS! Just to say he was THE MAN!!.❤👍
Today...1/8/24 he would have been 89. Happy Birthday Elvis....the undisputed King of all music.
❤❤❤ I agree. The king of music.❤❤❤
There will never be another Elvis
He was my first love as young girl and my favorite singer of all thru my life .
He was taken way to soon
Only 56 days later the KING would die. He was only 42. Imagine how ill he was, how much pain he was in and how rattled his mind may have been that night. You can see how much he was struggling just to function. Yet he was so dedicated and so determined to please his fans, that his performance was still truly powerful and moving. No one knew at the time that this would be his very last concert. His talent was a gift to him from God and we are forever blessed that he shared it with us. He gave us everything he had in every performance right up to the very end. God bless you Brother Presley, Rest in Peace.
BRITT--this is Elvis near the end when he was really struggling with health and weight. It is sad but also his voice was still amazing.
So so bittersweet. He’d been gone 6-8 weeks later. He was sick by this time and yet could joke and push himself to his God given gift. 😢😢
Elvis Presley Was Well Known For Pop Country And Gospel His Voice Is Amazing
Forever and always I will love this man❤
I can't believe I get the chance to make the first comment on one of your videos! This video is sad because we can see he is not healthy here, and his time was short, but his voice is still so amazing! Best ever performer! We don't need imitators.
YUP...
Elvis was a gift from God.
But she's wrong. He wasn't "funny and relaxed". He was dying. From over medication from scurrilous doctors. Hes' a wreck. But a beautiful wreck. It's really sad and glorious at the same time.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
The saddest thing is that he wasn't fat, he was swollen from the toxins of the drugs. We're actually witnessing his death, albeit ever so slowly.
He probably has liver failure from all the drugs he was doing. Such a tragedy.
HE PASSES 2MONTHS LATER
It wasn't the drugs alone, but he had severe constipation. It's why he was found at the toilet. The strain broke his heart, literally.
My favorite❤
I can’t watch this without balling my eyes out.
It doesn't matter if they were legal drugs. He did not need them.He was just a drug addict
@@philhaymes123
I won`t quarrel with you because you have too little knowledge about his actual situation.
People who lack knowledge tend to simplify matters, and for them, everything is black or white. Ignorant people wash away all the countless shades of grey although those shades are the stuff our lives are made of.
@@philhaymes123 You should do more research.
Blue Christmas - one of my favourite tracks by Elvis. But another is the Blue Christmas duet with Martine. Their voices so compliment each other.
Best version ever... great camera work.
The greatest.. GodBLESS. Thank you. M ❤
Elvis was a great singer and had absolute control of his voice.
Every song Elvis sang immediately became his song!!
So good to see you young people listening to Elvis no one could sing like the King glad you enjoyed it
He is unique in every way n everything
