Aside from how it steers round censorship issues it is Full Bore the way woman anticipate their backdoor man. Proper ‘love’ and the brain and body are buzzin…
Double neck guitar- one neck has 6 six strings, the other 12. Allows guitarist to switch sounds in the middle of a song instantaneously. Jimmy Page used this for the classic Stairway to Heaven during live shows because he used both a 6-string and 12-string to record parts in the studio.
This is my first year listen to rock as I wasn’t allowed to listen to since my grandparent ms were very conservative when it came to rock, metal and certain styles of rap.
I feel sorry for the people who have no idea who Steve Marriott was. The guy was like 5'4" but he had a voice that could cause earthquakes. He did this song with Small Faces (titled as You Need Lovin') in 1966 and when Zep came along and covered it three years later, Robert Plant - I hate to say it - basically mimicked Marriott's vocals. Zeppelin's version became more popular though, thanks mainly to Jimmy Page rewriting all the music, and nowadays people have no idea who Marriott was.
He may have used it better than anyone else at the time, but Paige didn’t invent the double neck guitar. The were double neck lutes in the 17th century. He didn’t even invent the double neck electric guitar.
Yes, he's "symbolizing" something. Back in the day, before every other word was the F-word, groups had to dance around the topic...and make the listener use their imagination! The era of the best damn music ever!
@@hollyharvey1986 Once you enter the Led Zep "rabbit hole" it just gets deeper and deeper with each album. No album is the same, no song is the same. They took chances and stretched the musical boundaries everytime they went into the studio.
But if you do Kashmir it is one of the few times I would say do the studio version over live. The sound mix is just off on the live version and it really dosn't sound that good to me. Except the reunion concert from around 2005 that version isn't bad.

It blows my mind that there are people on this planet who have never heard Led Zeppelin!!!!!! 🤯😳🤯 My favorite band of all time! And greatest band EVER!!! And if you think Whole Lotta Love has sexual innuendos, check out The Lemon Song…….😉😜

I heard him say in an interview that at least he didn't have to (now) put a rolled up sock in his pants! Too funny!!
It’s also not an age thing it just depends on how wide your music radar is and your upbringing because my father showed me all the legends, the doors, the scorpions, Guns N’ Roses and many more
They took the heart of the deep southern blues and polished it off with serious rock. Led Zeppelin didn't just blazed the British rock road, but they paved it. Robert Plant (vocals), Jimmy page (guitar), John Bonham (drums) and John Paul Jones (everything else). Four of the greats in Rock and Roll. each a master of their trade. Their music has stood the test of time and still sounds amazing today.
The part in the middle is psychedelic rock. Orgasmic moaning during the song and he sings "Let me be your back door man" near the end. Not the same connotation as it has today, it's an old blues term meaning a man exiting through the back door before the woman's husband comes home.
Correct. Thank you. I'm sick of people referring to it as a sexual act. Not that those types of things don't abound in the blues. (references to lemons for example)
There's no such thing as a bad Led Zep song!!! One of The Greatest Rock Bands of All Time. You should look at the Tribute to Led Zeppelin when they received Their Kennedy Center Honors! I believe that was in 2012!!
Im 71 and very grateful that i grew up with some of the best music to come out. I'm happy to see young folks hear these songs. Their faces tell the story.
when I was a teen, and this was new music, I had big speakers (for that time) and would tilt them together, crawl under and fall asleep listening to this on full blast. Love the way sound travels from one side to the other. Always kept me rocking. :)
A hit of LSD was almost as helpful as headphones when listening to LZ. Best interview answer ever - when asked why all their songs were so radical and couldn't they also produce some 'love songs', Robert Plant replied that all their songs were love songs.
When Led Zeppelin came out in the late 60's, there was nothing like it on the radio. The Rolling Stones was about as hard rock as it was back then. Over the course of the 60s and 70s and possibly 80's no band on the planet had a more accomplished vocalist, guitarist or drummer in one band, in my viewpoint.
No band ever can top zep. Best singer, best guitar, best bass, best drummer, best lyrics, best musical composition, best everything. Hendrix second place. Trip on acid and listen.
@@detroitlady7201 Zep and Hendrix are my favs. Second tier, Stones, Who, Floyd, Beatles,Airplane,Iggy,Bowie, CCR, ELO,Zappa. I used to live in a suburb of Detroit when I was in high school. Used to go to Angel park to buy grass. Rock on
Saw Zeppelin in 1977 at Madison Square Garden, encore was Whole Lotta Love and Rock and Roll! One of the best concerts I have ever seen and I've seen 100s of concerts
I find it kinda weird that people have never listened to Led Zep before. All I can say is, keep listening. You are in for a sublime treat! This is one of their early songs. The band just got better and better. Check out "Stairway to Heaven" - thats Led Zep's signature song.
The opening guitar riff is possibly the most raw, elemental, primitive, pulsating riff in the pantheon of rock that immediately transports you emotionally to the theme of the song. Bonzo's drumming is outstanding.
Most will tell you Stairway to Heaven is their best ever, but checkout their cover of an old blues classic, When the Levee Breaks. All four of the band members are on top of their game in that song.
"Stairway to Heaven" probably was there most well known hit. But, if you ask me what their best album was I have to agree that their first album was the best.
I was going to say something like this! "Stairway" is perhaps their most iconic song, but "When the Levee Breaks" just knocks me on my rear every time I hear it. And honestly, other songs like "Black Dog" or "Misty Mountain Hop" have that same iconic LZ feeling that "Stairway" does, as far as I'm concerned. Plus there's the crazy melodramatic OTT-ness of "Kashmir" and "Immigrant Song" that are definitely worth doing reactions about.
Oh hell yes. When the Levee breaks played on a jukebox in Memphis during Katrina and I about lost my damn mind, just crying. This song was actually a cover song, originally by Memphis Minnie in the 40s? It’s a blues song talking bout the great floods in early 20th century west Tennessee & Mississippi share croppers and poor folks fled or risk dying or starving to death. They saying they gotta go to Chicago for work, etc. also check out the the LED Zepperella ALL FEMALE cover band. They only do led songs and they kick ass.
Jo Tracy is right. 60's and 70's bands did a lot of engineering in the studio, exploring headspace. You really need to be wearing a decent pair of headphones to appreciate this music fully.
"Listen to Led Zeppelin with headphones..." This! Jimmy Page was not only one of the greatest guitarists and hook writers of all time, he was also one of the all-time great producers. The stuff he was doing with the relatively primitive recording equipment they had back then was just astonishing and much of it ahead of its time. PLEASE do yourselves a favor and get some headphones. Several other reactors started without them and the commenters kept bugging them about it until they got on board. Then the reactors were like, "DAMN! I can't believe what we've been missing!"
The one video "song" where they should be wearing earphones they don't. The stereo panning in this studio mix is fantastic and 1/2 the Psychedelic feel of this song is in the mixing. This was revolutionary in rock music and this band was groundbreaking. They did take a lot of old blues songs and rock them up though sometimes without attribution.
Definitely recommend revisiting this song with headphones. The stereo shift is amazing! I always loved this cranked up in the car with the feeling of the music warping around you
You need to get headphones for these older songs stereo separation was a big part of the music. Also this is before the studios started using loudness on everything and had huge dynamics. This song is almost night and day listening with good stereo separation. Also try Billy Thorpe - children of the sun it's kinda long but an amazing song.
Probably one of the top bassist’s to ever pick up the axe. John Paul Jones. He and Bonzo, best drummer ever, were the beating heart (literally) of the band. Check out Babe I’m Gonna Leave You.
If you haven't, do Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid next. These 2 songs were ALWAYS played together on the radio back in the day. In fact it may be illegal not to play them together.
I must say that I concur with Jo. It very well may be illegal not to play those two songs together. If you listen to them separately, you will be disappointed. Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid.
I'm 60 and I road the Zeppelin since I was a kid. I have older sisters who were tripping over them before me. I'm also a classically trained guitarist who crossed over to other genras and played many of there tunes. Led Zeppelin were crazy riffs. So many groovy sycodilic memories. I will stop right there. Jay, He is Mr. Robert Plant. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
This is the greatest Led Zeppelin song. Now what you two have to do is listen to this song through headphones. The song moves from one headphone to the other and back again. This was a great song to listen to under the influence, if you know what I mean, back in the day.

@ cristop5 //:: Urban dictionary 1970's //:: "BACKDOOR MAN", A man who sneaks in the back door to be with his lover!! There's other connotations, but this is what PLANT was singing!!

You should have heard this back in the day when they had quad speaker stereo systems. It was mixed so that he sound would come different speakers. So it sounded like the sound was spinning around the room. It would make you dizzy.

Just recently listened to all of their albums chronologically . You do this ,and they will be your favorite band. They blow every other band out of the water. These four guys were amazing together .
The Beatles were the heros of the sixties, but Led Zepplin were definately the heros for the seventies. Like the Beatles were the trend setters, so were Led Zepplin! There were bands during both decades that maybe made more money, had more hits, sold out more shows or had better songs. But, no bands put out more albums that had great songs from beginning to end then those two bands. NONE!! They were the mark!!

@@MsAppassionata Same here, I get a kick out of The Crunge. Mid-70's, I DJ'd at a very small town AM radio station. Played a lot of Zep, including Crunge. I sometimes followed up the end of the song asking, "If you've seen the bridge, please call xxx-xxxx." Never did get any calls....

These guys had the keys to the kingdom in the '70's . They were probably the biggest rock band at that time. They wrote some classics and also were the best cover band to ever perform on planet earth . This is a cover of Willie Dixon's whole lotta love . Much different from the original . They got the Led out !
Willie Dixon's song was called "You Need Love" and he had to sue the band to get credit and paid. I do love Led Zeppelin and think they're arguably the greatest rock band of all time but calling them a cover band instead of frequent thieves is generous.

True story: I went on a fishing trip with my Dad and his business friends in Northern Minnesota in early 1970. Returning home we all stopped at a small diner, sat in a booth and ordered coffee. It was near midnight. I was in my early 20's and LOVED Led Zeppelin. The diner had a juke box with some old country songs playing. Of course, I had to select "Whole Lotta Love". After a nice country ballad had finished - my song started. There were perhaps another dozen old fisherman in that diner. ALL EYES WENT TO ME when the song began! I sunk down in my chair a bit but I still enjoyed the music. My dad and all the others - not so much. :)

I'm sharing my music with my 20 yr old grandson & he shares his with me. He came over the other day & wanted me to hear this song he just found & says "Nannie you gotta hear this song I heard at work" Great memories ❤
@@TheJama64 Music back then was truly authentic. Not this horrible pop nasty vulgar crap of today. All the great bands used sex but their lyrics were more discreet sorta speak. Kiss which is not considered metal
Also, the drummer of Zep was arguably one of the greatest drummers of ALL time and still is. unfortunately the drummer, John Bonham, passed away in 1985.
When John Bonham died and arrived at the gates to heaven, he asked St Peter if he could be the official drummer of heaven. St Peter said, "Sorry, that position is taken." Then he said, "Listen, you can hear him now." John turned his head a bit, then after a brief moment, declared, "That sounds just like Keith Moon!". To which, St. Peter replied, "No, that's God, he just thinks he's Keith Moon."

Aside from how it steers round censorship issues it is Full Bore the way woman anticipate their backdoor man.
Proper ‘love’ and the brain and body are buzzin…
This was obviously composed for women who’s men have had proper schooling! Robert Plant obviously attended Graduate school!
Double neck guitar- one neck has 6 six strings, the other 12. Allows guitarist to switch sounds in the middle of a song instantaneously. Jimmy Page used this for the classic Stairway to Heaven during live shows because he used both a 6-string and 12-string to record parts in the studio.
"Every little inch of my love" means exactly what you think it means!

He doesn’t say “every little inch of my love”…leave out the word “little” 😅

They still can if steered in that direction by parents or friends. 👍👍👍👍
Why? They can still listen to them.
Robert Plant: -The Golden God of Rock
Jimmy Paige- Best guitarist & created the double neck guitar
All members are still to this day The GOAT!!
He may have used it better than anyone else at the time, but Paige didn’t invent the double neck guitar. The were double neck lutes in the 17th century. He didn’t even invent the double neck electric guitar.

You gotta do Kashmir by Led Zeppelin...and more of their stuff. They never disappoint. Rock gods
Kashmir and Stairway are musts. Kashmir will probably sound familiar (beat).
But if you do Kashmir it is one of the few times I would say do the studio version over live. The sound mix is just off on the live version and it really dosn't sound that good to me. Except the reunion concert from around 2005 that version isn't bad.

'Dazed and Confused' an awesome song off of their debut album along with 'You Shook Me' 1969.
The original by Jake Holmes is fantastic!! Yes, Jimmy Page stole it. Led Zeppelin was successfully sued by Holmes.
I've heard a quote from plant that he gets a little embarrassed over that part of the song now days.
The Doors Did an old blues called Back Door Man.
Correct. Thank you. I'm sick of people referring to it as a sexual act. Not that those types of things don't abound in the blues. (references to lemons for example)
I read somewhere Jonesy came up with the orgasm section.

When you listen to Zeppelin you really need headphones to hear how dynamic their sound is.
when I was a teen, and this was new music, I had big speakers (for that time) and would tilt them together, crawl under and fall asleep listening to this on full blast. Love the way sound travels from one side to the other. Always kept me rocking. :)
This song is practically unlistenable to, when played thru top quality headphones due to the rapid stereo panning.
A hit of LSD was almost as helpful as headphones when listening to LZ. Best interview answer ever - when asked why all their songs were so radical and couldn't they also produce some 'love songs', Robert Plant replied that all their songs were love songs.
And probably a lot of weed

When Led Zeppelin came out in the late 60's, there was nothing like it on the radio. The Rolling Stones was about as hard rock as it was back then. Over the course of the 60s and 70s and possibly 80's no band on the planet had a more accomplished vocalist, guitarist or drummer in one band, in my viewpoint.

This is more than just a song, this is an Anthem.
They personally think Kashmir is their best. Robert and Jimmy that is
I heard "Stairway..." on my way to work this morning...

Btw, really digging your reactions! Subscribed.
I love sharing the experience of these oldies songs with you youngsters Rob and Amber
Led Zeppelin - “When The Levee Breaks”
Sick beat, a number of rappers have sampled it for decades.
technically Zeppelin "sampled/stole/borrowed" the song from blues legend Memphis Minnie.
Oh my god yes. Feel like I’ve forgotten what real stereo was like til I heard this again via headphones
Definitely recommend revisiting this song with headphones. The stereo shift is amazing! I always loved this cranked up in the car with the feeling of the music warping around you
They should have listened to the full version of the song. This one is the shortened "radio cut".

This is the greatest Led Zeppelin song. Now what you two have to do is listen to this song through headphones. The song moves from one headphone to the other and back again. This was a great song to listen to under the influence, if you know what I mean, back in the day.
