Another 62 year old here who agrees with you. Part of my musical journey growing up in the 70s. Feel so lucky to have been a teenager through those years
Led Zeppelin had an enormous range of styles. This is not a band about who you can say if you heard one you've heard them all. A case in point would be "Thank You" from the same album as "Whole Lotta Love". "Thank You" is a love song that will touch your heart the way "Whole Lotta Love" touches...other areas. Zeppelin did not write a bad song so start anywhere. Some good introductory songs to this phenomenal band are "Rock and Roll", "Stairway to Heaven" or "Good Times, Bad Times". Enjoy the journey. Loved your reaction btw. Your face said it all.
I was 14 when "Whole Lotta Love" was released. It was a great era. Highly talented exceptionally skilled people giving the world the best rock music the world has ever known or will ever know.
I was 14 yrs old too, back in 1969, when I bought my 1st album... Led Zeppelin-2. I couldn't play this song and the Lemon song why my Dad was home. Love to be 14 yrs oldagain.

I was 17 when this dropped, and it hit hard. The best way to listen to Led Zeppelin is, to begin with track one of their first album and listen until you reach the last track of their final album. You won't find a bad song.
I have every album, both in vinyl and CD. Vinyl is better, especially at near full volume. All of the songs are good but I always had a couple of favorites in each album.
For a 60+ yr old Norwegian its fun to see what an American see as provocative in 2024. We listened to this in the 70ies and my children listened to same songs in the late 90ies none of us lifted n eyebrow and found it other than fun 😎😈🇧🇻
Not every American was shocked by this at all. In fact, I don’t know anyone who was, is or should be. If you’d been here at that time and in this country you’d know that so stop assuming some kind of enlightened superiority. It’s played. So played.
One of my greatest memories. I was GIVEN front-row center tickets to Zeppelin in an outdoor concert. It was hot and humid and Robert Plant was dressed much like in this video...and a blue norther (cold front) blew through and dropped the temperature from about 80 to 40 deg F in less than 5 minutes. They had all sorts of pyrotechnics and smoke that were just blown completely off the stage by 30 mph winds. Robert Plant kept singing throughout SOAKED with sweat. Oh, and "back door man" had a completely different meaning when Robert Plant said it - it was meant as the person you were seeing on the side - when your old man headed out the front door, he'd be coming in the back door.
@@rawbrob1079Everyone does have their own opinions & are entitled to them. Some grade their greatness at the time they came out to what life was at the time. Some grade by popularity. Wilt Chamberlain scored a 100 points in a game because offensive goaltending was allowed where defensive goaltending was not. Is he the greatest? No. Any 7 footer of today's NBA could have done the same. But was he the GOAT compared to what talent was in the NBA? The answer is yes. His scoring APG went from 55 to 35 the year of the rules change. He also couldn't jump. Were the Beatles the best jump up of music compared to what was out there at the time. Yes. In a different angle to music, there would not have been a Led Zeppelin if there wasn't the Beatles. Did LZ have hits? Yep. But so did others. Were ALL OTHER BANDS or hits played on the radio? No. There was a whole bunch of censorship. I'll rate my idea of the greatest band by the number of songs I put on cassettes for, yes, my own listening pleasure. Queensryche, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Rush, Led Zeppelin, and Triumph are all in the 23-29 hit range. #1 with 49 is the Scorpions. They moved through different sound changes and at the end too many ballads led by Klaus Meine. But with each different tone, they rocked (until too much wussy stuff at the end) but they made their own songs and riffs except Always Somewhere which mimicked Lynyrd Skynyrd. Led Z on the other hand had the rumors going they didn't write their own songs. From a guy living in Hawaii to now being accused of 26 songs being plagiarized. Jimmy Paige moved to the Firm afterwards with Radioactive as the best he could help create and Robert Plant went with Sea of Love with the Honeydrippers. I'm happy LZ rocked, that Paige kicked ass, that Plant belted out the songs, but program managers constantly playing LZ in their 340 song playlist killed R n R to where we had to go back to our own recorded tapes to rock out.
Their individual talent is extraordinary, together they collaborated into one of the best bands of their time. Saw them live in the mid seventies and wasn't disappointed. They were part of the soundtrack of my life and still listen to their music.
The music corporations have destroyed popular music. It’s emotional in so many ways to listen to this. They were and are still the greatest rock band ever. Hands down.

I'm 70 and I was a moderate fan of Led Zeppelin when I was in high school, but recently I've began to believe that they are the pinnacle of the entire pyramid of all rock artists of all time. At the very least they are the coolest act of all time.
I am 66 and saw then at the Kingdom in Seattle Wa summer of 1977 and what a concert it was..my parents would hear Zep in my room all the time..what a great band to grow up with..
I was 9 as well and Steve Miller was my favorite rock artist at the time. By the time I was 15 I was listening to Led Zeppelin, The Who, Bad Company, Queen, The Eagles. The late 1960s and all of 1970s was a great time to grow up in. The music was incredible and real.
Many experts consider Led Zeppelin as being the premier group in the "Second British Invasion" which featured Cream, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Uriah Heep among others. Modern listeners often say they belong to the genre of "classic rock", but they are incorrect as that typically refers to groups like the Beatles, Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues (i.e. the "First British Invasion") among others. As a matter of fact, back in the day, the music played by groups like Led Zeppelin was originally called "Heavy Rock" but that didn't last long and it became known as "Hard Rock" with the term "Heavy" subsequently referring to groups like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and others (i.e. Heavy Metal). Of course, the term "Metal" has been further subdivided since then ("Black Metal", "Death Metal", etc.) as well.
Im 63, saw Robert plant performe in Melbourne on 1983, oln the way home i played stairway to heaven and cried 😢 . I still have the ticket to the concert. Timeless rock. Hope you discover them more.😊
Yep it meant EXACTLY what you thought! But that was just a tiny taste of the incredible range. Check out Led Zeppelin "Since I've Been Loving You" live at Pompeii 1972 BTW as a teen back in the 70's we didn't have Broadband, Social Media or Mobile Phones But we had Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, the "Yin and Yang" that brought balance to our little universe!

I was introduced to Led Zeppelin in 1974 by my 23 year old Girlfriend in my Bedroom. I was 18 years old. I spent some of the greatest times of my life in that room. Say no more a nod is as good as a wink to a blind bat. You don't know what you missed out on living through the 1970's 😇
You heard it just the way I did. The studio version off LED ZEPPELIN II. Changed my life. Literally. Started playing guitar and singing. Played in bands. Had my own 'rock star' experiences. LIFE CHANGING.
@ricardoagila3115, do you realize how many babies were made to this song? Saying women can't dance to Zeppelin is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. 😂😂😂😂😂
In 1969 (I was 19) I was living the life in San Fransico. Laying on the floor of the concert hall, tripping on LSD listing to Led Zeppelin as they played from left ear to right hear told us they were masters!
The version from the Song Remains the Same concert movie soundtrack is the superior one, if you do just search MSG 1973 you do not get that one, but another, alternate live from the multi day stay, there is a good reason they picked the one they did for the movie.
Still blows my mind and I have listened to this thousands of times over the last 50 years, to listen to this for the first time with an open mind must be a truly great experience.
You just listened to the greatest band EVER! You can’t go wrong with any of their songs. Believe it or not, this was only one of a few singles they released, & was played on the radio. Each of these genuses are the GOATS of their craft, & together they were GODS of MUSIC. Any live from Madison Square Gardens (1973), is excellent, especially Since I’ve Been Loving You. Try live at Earls Court (1975), In My Time Of Dying, mind blowing. I could listen to so many more, but I hope you continue with Led Zeppelin, you won’t be sorry. Thanks for you reaction.
People who say they don’t know who Zeppelin is must of course have been living under a rock. I am always surprised by these so called first time reactors. So I am glad you explained your unfortunate missing of Zeppelin. You are back on track now!

I actually hate this video compilation. The only songs Page played the bow on were both on Led Zeppelin debut. Dazed and Confused and How Many More Times. He used a Theremin to get all the trippy sounds during the percussive section. The music is epic but whoever put the "official" video together botched it. They made it more confusing for the people discovering Zeppelin for the first time
I am 61 years old, I grew up only an hour away from Motown, and when I was about six my older brother had me listening to all the Rock he could! Led Zeppelin was a big part of that. My whole life, I have been a very diverse listener of many genres. Everything from full on Rock, 50s+60s to classical! Debussy being one of my favorites. Now when I listen to all this music from my past to now.. I know most all the songs, and lyrics. Music is such a huge part of my life. Always will be. I love seeing younger generations finding music and listening. Remember, when we heard it for the first time, it was usually on the radio or on an LP!

@cassconner6023 Blue oyster cult was another great live show. Our "group" was hired as crowd control to keep people off the stage. Heck of a good time. The lead singer downed a fifth of Jim Beam on stage during the concert .

You need to dive deep into the Zeppelin rabbit hole. I have loved them since I was 12 yrs old in the early 70"s. I am 62 now and still listen to them everyday.
63, me too😊

65 here... Wish I could hear Led Zeppelin for the first time again...
You forgot Immigrant song and Kashmir, lol

I was 14 when "Whole Lotta Love" was released. It was a great era. Highly talented exceptionally skilled people giving the world the best rock music the world has ever known or will ever know.
I was 14 yrs old too, back in 1969, when I bought my 1st album... Led Zeppelin-2. I couldn't play this song and the Lemon song why my Dad was home. Love to be 14 yrs oldagain.

Bonzo was arguably the greatest rock drummer ever.
No arguments. 😊
and the wild thing is, he had no self esteem, and thought he sucked and all the other Rock drummers at the time were better than him, Read " Hammer of the God's " Zeppelin Autobiography, great read...
Alex idolized him. Ed said VH was just trying to be or wanted to be Zep in the early days. The Trinity - LZ, AC/DC, VH.
People focus on Page and Plant (and well deserved), but it was the drumming that made Zeppelin, IMHO.
I agree bonham is among my top five favorites of all time

What is even more interesting than the provocative lyrics is that this was played on the radio. It was not censored. There was no "explicit lyrics" warning on the album.
My cousin was listening to that album in in his bedroom back in the day and he said his mother come in and got the album and broke it
Every inch of my love is tame compared to Travelling Riverside Blues.
I kind of get lost in all the musical changes etc that the explicitness of the lyrics get overshadowed

Well... We are Europeans...
Not every American was shocked by this at all. In fact, I don’t know anyone who was, is or should be. If you’d been here at that time and in this country you’d know that so stop assuming some kind of enlightened superiority. It’s played. So played.

I’m 77 years old and I’ve been getting the Led out since their beginning.

@@oleeb everyone one is entitled to their opinion even if yours is wrong.
I’m now 69 and in 1980 I found myself with a reel-to-reel of 7+ hours of Zeppelin! How cool that was!

So what does "gonna give you every inch of my love" mean? (This ought to be good)😂😂😂
Many experts consider Led Zeppelin as being the premier group in the "Second British Invasion" which featured Cream, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Uriah Heep among others.
