IT"S SYMBOLIC ! It has to do with Life's changing journey and how people grow ,react, learn and find out how changing the straight road we educate our selfs and find the real meaning of life.

There are no bands like this anymore, it’s a bygone era, I’m 70, i was in a rock band at the time and was 20 years old or so, we covered all the rock hits, but this song always got a standing ovation from the crowd, man those were the days.
I'm 64, I never played an instrument and I regret it but I can tell the difference between the music they play today and this one. Those were times when you couldn't get up on a stage if you hadn't real talent!
Hi .. I was sitting in the 9th row orchestra at MSG way back in 1973 when they were filming TSRTS. I was 16 years old then & I'm now 66 . Zeppelin played close to 4 hrs. that nite .The whole concert was truly unbelievable. Please enjoy your Zeppelin journey . I'm still on my journey Enjoy .
Dude I was on the floor. Vietnam Vet, friend of mine pulled out 4 tickets for the Saturday night show, and his chick's cousin. Flew up and back to Dallas, 1 fantastic weekend.
I'm a few years behind you. I saw them at Greensboro Coliseum in 1977 when I was 15. It was my birthday and my older sister and her boyfriend took me. She loved Zeppelin too...I fell in love with them from listening to their albums that she bought.
Robert Plant was our golden haired rock god of the 70s. Jimmy Page didn’t just play the guitar but he breathed life to it. John Paul Jones kept the slow steady tempo, that builds and builds up with the passion of Plant’s voice. John Bonham gave the whole band a heartbeat. Sheer rock, pure and simple. But yet … complex and passionate. One of top 5 rock bands ever.
Mr. Jones is almost always mentioned last in the bunch, but his contribution is WAY underrated and understated. He assembled the technical arrangements and oversaw much of the band's actual production. That, and he's a musical GENIUS, a master of many different instruments. One of the great bassists...I understand he is still busy in the industry...
I saw Robert Plant live! Our seats were so close to the stage I could literally see his face. My late husband was a huge fan. He camped out to get our tickets. Plant’s performance was incredible! That is a night I will never forget as long as I live ! ✌️❤️
A must is their live performance of “Since I’ve Been Loving You” at Madison square garden…it will blow your socks off 💕 You are an adorable pair (with beautiful children) I so enjoy watching you two react to the music I loved in the Seventies. 🌻
Amber, Amber, Amber, you made my soul sing watching you get “it!” You’re right on the money when you defined this song as an experience, and as such it was meant to be enjoyed with friends. Thank you so much for the two of you for inviting us to experience “it” with you. 👍🏻👍🏻
Consider this: In the Heart tribute version there were probably 10 musicians on stage... and two complete choirs. Here you have 3 musicians and 1 voice. Epic!
My dad introduced me to Zeppelin. They were his favorite band. He tried learning the guitar because he wanted to learn this intro. It’s one of the only songs I can play on guitar. He always said “play Stairway to Heaven at my funeral.” He passed away in 2019, and I made sure it was a song on his remembrance slide show. My stepmom did not think it would be a good song for a viewing, wake or funeral. But I insisted. She admitted later that it was a fitting song for his memorial. I have only been able to listen to this song 2 times since that day. This being the second time. It’s so hard to hear it even now. Growing up this was one of my all time favorite songs. It still is, but I can’t hear it without breaking down. Even this time, I love watching y’all’s reactions to the music I grew up listening to. So I had to watch this reaction. It makes me happy to see others joy hearing this for the first time. I envy y’all being able to hear new music for the first time. And it still makes me hurt thinking of my dad. I like to think anytime someone hears it for the first time, my dad smiles. I love you dad and I miss hanging out with you listening to and talking music. 🥃
This song is so beautiful. Just the instruments used in the intro are captivating from their first notes. This album is a masterpiece. Just saying. It blew our minds when it was released originally. Glad you loved it. More Zeppelin please. Thanks. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
It's actually amazing!!! These kids are not just learning and enjoying (and making a couple of bucks) but they are turning on an entirely new generation to music that very likely could have been lost. I am all for this format!!
"There's a feeling I get when I look to the West And my spirit is crying for leaving In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees And the voices of those who stand looking" A few months ago, I hit a dark patch.... and this verse meant a lot to me.The faith (not necessarily Christian) and the imagery it brought to my mind was a huge help.
Greatest live guitar solo of all time. It still gives me goosebumps. I love you guys and your reactions! I especially love seeing two young people with pictures of the goddamn Bee Gees on their wall! Now THAT'S something you don't see every day. Well done.
Agree, as much as they like different ways to play Guitar, Page running that Violin Bow across the Strings was magical to me. And still is, no matter who does it. However He was the first that I saw.
The live performance is amazing for it's free styling play, show causing Jimmy Page, and the vocals of Robert Plant. But, I am a firm lover of the studio recording. It is well balanced and blends the tones of it's highs and lows perfectly, for an astounding sound. Amber would love the studio version, it's depth of sound takes you on a magical ride of the mind and soul. I know you have done Heart and now the live versions, but you would not regret the studio version, the classic original version.
You should definitely listen to the studio version, which is perfect and has maybe the most iconic guitar solo in rock music. Also it should be noted that Page said these Madison Square Garden concerts were kind of average hohum gigs, not great or bad. It's just when they had the camera's and recording equipment scheduled. Edit: you said you want to hear some more Page hot live soloing, I think the live version of Whole Lotta Love from this MSG concerts has a lot a fun flashy improvised soloing in the middle of it. Page could be pretty sloppy, but he really could play very free and loose, and that's when he's best live.

Amber totally understands led zeppelin and what Stairway was about. It was a mystical song and built on that mystical feeling. Robert Plant was a student of old english mystical lore and alot of it was also part of Led Zeppelin. They started out like alot of english bands back then as a Blues tribute in their songs but, grew to incorporate other styles. Like the middle eastern feel of Kashmir. Or the old foggy mytical feel of Stairway. There is so much depth to Zeppeling that needs to be explored

When Robert first sang this song he used to say” this a song of hope!” It gave all of us 14,15,16 year olds a feel of hope for the future! It was really a mantra for us growing up in the 70’s!!!❤️❤️❤️
Joan no one could have said that better than you! :} I graduated High School in 1975 and saw Zep on A Day On The Green at the Oakland Coliseum in July 77 which was unfortunately their last North American Live performance. Plants son passed away after they left Oakland and arrived in New Orleans and they canceled the rest of the tour and did not come back until 79 in Knebworth. We were so lucky growing up in the 60s and 70s. As a Teen in the 70s and now later in life its almost an indescribable era we witnessed back then. Such a simple mellow time of music, partying and no social media and all the electronic crap we have now, we went out side all the time and found things to do and friends to hang out with and chasin all the pretty girls and cruising the strip at night on weekends.. No school shootings and other mass shootings. I feel sorry for the youngsters today. I really do. But no doubt the 70s were a gem of a decade. I won't even get into the get sports teams we had just here in the Bay Area, The Raiders, 49ers, the 3 time World Champ Oakland A's, The Warriors. Fun times for sure!
I've always found these four lines so significant for the times we now live in And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn for those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter. I grew up with this song, as well as many others, it's a joy seeing the younger generation enjoying it as much as I did first time around.
“In My Time of Dying” live Earls Court 1975. He plays a slide and John Paul Jones plays a fretless bass right along with him. The drums and vocals are outstanding as well.
Studio version next. Stairway to Heaven was constantly listed in yearly countdowns in the top 3 songs of all time for decades. That's because the studio version was perfection. No live version can equal it. !5 years ago Casey Kasem was doing his greatest hits count down when he said that Stairway to Heaven was the 2nd most requested song in history. #1 .... Happy Birthday.
@@rarelycares8416 (*Occasionally trading the top spot with the Eagles "Hotel California" or Aerosmith's "Dream On"...but yes always top 3.) These 2 songs are all time greats.
The Kennedy Centre band version with the Wilson sisters from Heart is brilliant too, BUT… they had 6 guitarists on stage, two choir sections, a chamber orchestra, a bass player and two keyboard players! LZ had Jimmy on guitar and JPJ on keyboard while playing all the bass on bass pedals with his feet. These young guys were insanely good to be able to make such a sound with 4 people! That’s why this version stands u to the studio version - cos it’s just 4 guys on stage having a blast…
I used to play in a band. Even my friends LZ fans, ignored that if you listen carefully the STH studio version, Jones keyboard is heard. On UA-cam there are some videos of bands playing Kashmir, in some there are two guitars, in other an orchestra, but the only group that can interpret it with only three musicians is Led Zeppelin. That's why, to me they are the most complete band in rock history; and John Paul Jones is not rated enough and deserves more recognition in my humble opinion. Even in this video the two hosts simply ignored him. He is there, his feeling is in the song but his presence does not.
This is my favorite song of all time. I don't mean this in a bad way, but I have seen them live. The put soo much effort in the recorded version and I think it is better than the live version. Just my opinion, you should also check out the original recorded version.
In this live version, in the extended part of the guitar solo, if heaven exists, there is a note to get you there. The entire solo is amazing, but that particular note has spoken to my very existence since I first saw the movie of this concert in 1978.
During the mid 70s and early to mid 80s it was the most requested song on rock radios ( what would be considered Classic Rock these days) Just perfection You must listen to the album version to get the full effect.
15 or so years ago Casey Kasem was doing his greatest hits count down when he said that Stairway to Heaven was the 2nd most requested song in history. #1 .... Happy Birthday.
And THAT is why on every Rock station on every countdown every time.....this song is the #1 Rock song of ALL TIME 🙂💕 !!!! Great reaction. By the way, these guys were really heavy into mysticism, it's just incredible where their music takes you ❤️. PEACE, 🕊️ LOVE 💕, and MAGIC ✨🔮✨...
Iconic. And I do love love love the original studio version. 50 years - wow. Don't you wonder what was going through Plant's and Page's and JPJ's heads while they were listening to Heart's tribute performance?
I prefer the studio version, especially for the shorter guitar solo at the end. It's really just perfect. In contention for top guitar solo ever. Of course, this version is also kinda cool because of the video, where you can see everybody and the lighting is neat. I realize you won't cover it here, but you can - and should - listen to the studio version on your own.
Have all the zeppelin albums. Played only one time still have plastic on them. 140 my albums only been played one time. Back in the early 70s when I started buying albums I would record them on cassette. I have some great albums.
What's so amazing is Amber is NOT "fake" like many reactors. She genuinely is into the great musicians and when she closes her eyes during the guitar solos, you KNOW she real af.
That's exactly what I noticed about them they actually do their homework. They don't just listen to the song and have a fake reaction they actually go into the backstory of the group or individual. I'm very impressed with their knowledge that I've watched so far.
All of their performances at this 1973 show at Madison Square Garden are completely insane. I suggest you watch "Since I've be loving You". A true masterpiece. Led Zeppelin live, there's no equal. Greets from Brazil 🇧🇷🤘👊
You might enjoy listening to Robert Plant and Allison Strauss performing together now a days. Not Led Zeppelin rock, but pretty damn good, and check out some utube on plant and Page after Zeppelin performing together
I do like the studio version a little more, but the thing that has always stood out to me in this video is Plant and Page perfectly demonstrating that quality that I think is even rare among rock stars, that people like Freddie Mercury, Bruce Springsteen, and Mick Jagger also have: to be perfectly comfortable in front of tens of thousands of people and just effortlessly take control of every single one.
Really? So weird the way two people can see something so completely differently. I always thought Robert plant's vocals on this live album were some of the worst I've ever heard. It's possible some of that was due to the recording/ sound engineering, etc.
@@squaaaaak3178 That's entirely possible. The quality of live recording is rarely as good as in the studio. But I was talking more about their stage presence, especially the way he was able to stand alone in a spotlight and sing a bunch of nonsense sounds in between the lyrics with complete confidence.
@@squaaaaak3178 His singing is really not the best (you can admit that without a doubt), but that's what makes it, the imperfect perfection. And despite all this, Led Zeppelin are miles better than today's bands, because they embody and mean exactly what they sing.
squaaaaak, Plant was suffering from nodules on his vocal cords in 1973 and had to have an operation soon after this tour. He sang better in 1969, 1970, 1971 and much of 1972 but he's still good in places during the MSG gigs, particularly The Rain Song. He is amazing with that long note at the end. Even under par Plant in 1973 is better than 90% of other front men.
Rarely ever should you do the live version of a song first…no matter how good it may be… Paul McCartney’s Maybe I’m Amazed & Peter Frampton’s Do You Feel Like We Do are a couple rare instances where the live version is better. Led Zeppelin’s studio version of Stairway To Heaven IS the best version to listen to first.
That's what i have been saying or close to it. It really depends on the song what is going to be better, but you are right to start with the studio then go live. When it comes to Smoke on Water. the studio version sounds dead compared to the live Made in Japan version however when it comes to Whiter Shade of Pale no one mentioned the haunting sound of the organ expect for Day One reacts because she is the only one that did the studio version. Also i totally Agree with you about those 2 songs you mentioned. 'Frampton Comes Alive.'
While id agree for the most part that studio versions are usually best to listen to first, this live version absolutely blows the studio version out of the water and it isnt even close.
The other song I would add to your list is Cheaptrick "I want you to want me". You have to do the live version. Much better and different than studio version. They made a huge mistake early in their reviews and did a liver version of The Ramones "Blietzkrieg Bop" that was horrible. NEVER introduce someone to the Ramones through a live concert. It's twice as fast as original and the words are incomprehensible. I think it totally turned them off of them.
It should just be a basic rule. A reactor trying out a new song can't know if it's one of those very rare ones where the live version is the best, so they just have to guess every time. There should be no guessing. Just always go with studio version, and then people will let them know if there's an iconic live version important enough to check out. I don't blame a reactor for it because again, they've never heard it and just don't know. But.. that's why there should be a standard to follow.
The greatest rock band, and the greatest rock song. When they reformed for the Live Aid concert in 1985 they brought the house down with this one, with Phil Collins on drums if memory serves. I would go with "Ten Years Gone" next, Mr. Page has the guitar crying in that one.
Jordan's eyes tell the whole story! Imagine how we felt in 1971 when this came out. FM Radio didn't like to play it because of the length and it cut into their revenue. But they couldn't ignore the repeated calls that came in requesting it. Most of them compromised by playing it late at night. Most of us compromised by buying the album and playing it over and over again. I wore this album out. This was before cassette and most of us had this on 8 track. I still have this one and a Lynyrd Skynyrd on 8 track in my mementos. Thank you for sharing this one!
the tonal quality is ethereal, as is the chanter simulation by John Paul Jones on the keyboards. Live the guitar was drowning the canter out quite a bit. The studio was better because Jimmy was actually playing a 12-string acoustic-electric just a better sound to harmonize with chanter and vocals.
Jimmy Page is considered one of the best ever guitarists. Hearing him actually play the song is a must. I've got to agree with others on the studio version.
The Real Rock Gods .... And this almost 50yrs old and still holds the test of time ... And Robert is 24 here with so much SWAG... Jimmy leaves MSG on his solo, Bonzo follows Jimmy per note
Next song should be Since I've Been Loving You from the same concert. Absolutely stunning guitar from Jimmy, both rhythm and lead. One of the best live performances ever IMO.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I got an evil grin on my face predicting Amber's reaction, but to be honest, it ended up being the look of sheer, delighted disbelief on Jay's face during the guitar solo that made this so precious. Amber was just _gone_ : love the way she's found her inner hippy... Great reaction guys - keep on exploring.👍
I think Page was on that as well. Plant's solo stuff is great too plus for some completely different versions of Zep songs try Plant with the Strange Sensations live.
Some of Page's best recorded live guitar work is in "In My Time of Dying". He's got some great solos and shows off his slide playing as well. If you haven't heard the studio recording, it's one of the Zepplin songs that is a must. If you're a fan of the band, you have to do that song. "Ten Years Gone" is another masterpiece, with one of Page's best solos. You will never tire of hearing it.
The studio recording of in my Time of Dying sounds like they are playing in the room with you. ...especially the drums. Starts slow (kinda like this song) and by the end I'm being ruptured up to the skies... just like the character in the song...
Led Zep, The Who, Meatloaf, Stones and so many other top tier bands all making first time ever music of its time. We were blessed back in the day. So pleased you are with us now.
“Dazed and Confused” 1976 live is around 29 minutes long. Jimmy Page goes to another dimension. JPJ base is outrageous. JB drums!!! And then RP singing is fantastic. To me it is one of the best lives EVER.
Remember that scene in the movie "Wayne's World" where they went to the music store and he picked up a guitar and played the classic "May I help you?" riff, only to have the salesman point to the sign that said "No Stairway to Heaven"? This song has some serious staying power!

There are classics and there are CLASSICS. This is a CLASSIC that will never grow old and every generation will listen to and question music .All four members are deep into this song in their own way.
I am so jealous that they are listening to this for the FIRST time, omg!!!what that must be like!!! I am one of the generation that grew up with this& have loved Led Zeppelin for I don’t want to think how many years, so amazing to see this young generation loving this 🙏👍
Music back in the day with no autotune and no drum machine, as it should be. I am amazed at how Bohnam and Jones were able to keep a steady, continuous beat and rhythm while Page went off on his solos, almost instinctively knowing when Page was going to stop and pick up where the song left off with Page. Page had many epic solos, some lasting forever (his live "Dazed and Confused" solos for example).
In the Letterman interview after the Kennedy Centers Honors, they said they improvised most of the music from concert to concert. This why they didn't bring in another drummer to replace Bonham.
@@jp1170 It's just an opinion, everyone has one. I personally think the Studio vs of the Solo is flawless. In the live version, I can hear many, many missed notes and slip ups. Still stellar compared to most guitarists live, but the studio version is pristine. It's just a matter of preference, there is no right or wrong answer.
One of the things that made John Bonham such an amazing drummer was how he played off of what Page was doing on the guitar. Together they were magical.
Even more amazing is that he did that while at the same time holding down the beat to some really strange stuff that Page would throw at him. Black Dog and Kashmir, are great examples of that. He would put some foundation to what Page was doing and then at certain times leave it and follow page into some weird lick and back to the beat again. Having John Paul Jones on bass, keyboards, and half a dozen other instruments didn't hurt any either.
The next Led Zeppelin song you need to do is The Rain Song, absolutely epic. There is a live version on UA-cam with a full orchestra back up. Incredible song and arrangement including a close up of Jimmy Page playing acoustic guitar throughout. It really is a must see.
As a kid I was a little scared of the eeriness of this song but now an all-time favorite, I know people are saying the studio version is better but for me the heart, soul and emotion of this live version makes it all the better, so glad you guys did this reaction❤❤
Bringing me back to my high school parties. I did not do drugs ever! I still love my friends, and I loved music, so we would chill in front of a bomb fire and I would back my 1979 Thunderbird up, open up the trunk, and blast this!! Yes baby!! I miss my youth! Great job guys! Thanks!!!!
My parents are rockers so obviously I’ve heard this a trillion times. The first time probably in the womb while my dad was still in law school! Love to think about that. Anyway the first I have memory of hearing it was on the drive to kindergarten one morning. It’s also the first time I remember having chills/goosebumps. Even as a child I knew there could be nothing else like it!
Had the album, saw them live several times, always hear "does anybody still remember laughter?" version on radio & prefer this version for Robert's interactions and Jimmy's amazing finale solo. Still gives old Nana the chills 🥶
I saw Led Zeppelin back in 1971 in the Ulster Hall, Belfast. That was actually the first time they performed this new song ,"Stairway" live at the beginning of a tour.Lord Of the Rings was being read by many of us back then so you can see the lyrical influence in some of Zep's songs such as this one.The Irish Troubles were just under way and would continue for nearly thirty years and Belfast was not too safe, with murder everywhere , but the band came anyway and were much appreciated for performing for us hippies in something of a war-zone. More recently I actually met Robert Plant after seeing his own band a few times in Belfast and had a great conversation behind the scenes about all sorts of things(Did you know he fancied being a stone-mason?).A couple of us were guests of his keyboards wizard John Baggot ,so we had a very special all-access time .Referring to the Belfast gig fifty years ago when I was nineteen he said...I was only twenty -three myself ... and we hardly knew what we were doing back then!!
@@djl9919 I loved that teenage gig, Lionhart and especially under those circumstances where one minute we were listening to the band on each others record decks at home alongside Clapton, Mayall , the Beatles and the Stones and suddenly we got to see them live in a proper rock n roll venue. That was a great night.I told Robert i enjoyed his new band equally for different reasons ......He said ...aye...more texture ! You bet !He is still the business.

I love the live version of Stairway to heaven . The solo is what blows me away. Did you guys know that the footage of the live version of Stairway to heaven is from a concert movie that Led Zeppelin filmed 49 years ago at Madison Square Garden in 1973 but didn't release the concert movie until 1976 when they were inactive from recording in the studio or touring live cuz I think Robert Plant had been in a car accident that resulted in him being injured, so while he was healing Led-Zeppelin put the concert movie out to keep the Fan base happy and Content for the time being until they could start working again. The concert movie is called The Song Remains the same. If you guys ever want to? You can consider reacting to the concert movie. It's pretty good. Btw Jay Jimmy Page is my guitar hero cuz of seeing the movie. I love both the light honey burst finish 1958 Gibson Les Paul he uses as well as the maroon double necked Gibson SG Axe he was shredding on Stairway to heaven there.Listen to Dazed and confused live version from Led-Zeppelin next. That solo is fire. You thought that Stairway to heaven live is something else? You are going to be in for a treat with Dazed and confused live. Jay you are going to love how the song tempo starts out with John Paul Jones plucks at the bass strings. My favorite part of Dazed and confused live is the Scott McKenzie If you are going to San Francisco be sure to wear some Flowers in your hair medley they go into ,but they make that cover song their own. You guys just gotta check out Dazed and confused live. You are right Amber Led Zeppelin wasn't just a group, they are as well as were an experience from 1969-1980. They were dubbed one of the first heavy metal bands of all time as well.
The 6 string guitar AND the SOLO is Jimmy's FENDER TELECASTER that Jeff Beck gave him. Also the entire 1st album is the Tele. Jimmy didn't get a Les Paul until Led Zeppelin 2 album
Jay/Amber thank you for listening to Stairway to Heaven. If you really want to get blown away from that same concert. Since I ‘ve been loving you or Dazed and Confused. Also from Knebworth 1979 Achilles last Stand you will not be disappointed at all. There is a reason why the mighty Zep machine is one of the greatest rock bands in the world. Thanks for what you have been doing. Stay happy!!!
This performance shows Robert Plant at the top of his rock God game. His vocal performance, the shirtless look, his magnetism and star power....it all shines here.
He's still great but his voice was having problems due to nodules on his vocal cords. He sang better in 1969, 1970, 1971 and much of 1972. As I said, still great here though.
when I was about 18 , Led Zep was due to play near me in Detroit, 1980. Well just before they came to town, tragically Bonham passed on. I had tickets to the show and bought a concert jersey in the mail, the jersey has the Detroit show printed on it, but the show never happened of course. I dont have the tickets anymore, but I still have the jersey of my favourite band of all time, Led Zep.
Something like that happened to me also. I went to buy tickets to a Jimi Hendrix show only to be asked if I was crazy, didn't I know he had just died...no I didn't. That was repeated when I went to buy tickets to see Janice Joplin and was told she just died. I really began thinking that if I liked someone too much they might die. These two events were set and tickets were being advertised right up until I went to buy the tickets. Still haunts me now when I recall it.
This was my first time seeing you two, but by watching your reactions to this amazing song I feel like I know so much about the both of you. Jay is clearly a musician that plays guitar and seemed in awe of Jimmy when he got into his solo, and Amber clearly fell in love with Jay because she has a soft spot for a well played guitarist. Her face during Jimmy's solo was priceless! Great reaction from you both and I can't wait to see more!
It is a blessing to see young people "discover" this music. There is a lot more Zeppelin you haven't reacted to, but this is not only the king of Led Zeppelin, it may very well be the king of all songs period.
One of the greatest songs of all time; They will pull you in, mesmarize you . And teach you something, at the same time. Brilliant!

There are no bands like this anymore, it’s a bygone era, I’m 70, i was in a rock band at the time and was 20 years old or so, we covered all the rock hits, but this song always got a standing ovation from the crowd, man those were the days.
I'm 65 and just went through the current UK top 40 and picked a few songs to listen to at random. It's tragic how dull they are.
I'm 64, I never played an instrument and I regret it but I can tell the difference between the music they play today and this one. Those were times when you couldn't get up on a stage if you hadn't real talent!
I'm 61. I concur!
Man you can say that again
Nowadays you don't need any talent to be a recording artist .You only need good make up and a skimpy outfit,oh and it helps if you are gay and tattoed

We probably passed a doobie between us:)….
I'm a few years behind you. I saw them at Greensboro Coliseum in 1977 when I was 15. It was my birthday and my older sister and her boyfriend took me. She loved Zeppelin too...I fell in love with them from listening to their albums that she bought.
Legends all of you. 🙏
My husband was there too!
One of the top 1 rock bands ever you mean 😉
Bonham was IMO the the main ingredient that made LZ so great..

Page's greatest live performances include In My Time of Dying, and the 28 minute version of Dazed and Confused (greatest guitar solo ever recorded)!
And just for the great thumping beat, Earls Court Trampled Underfoot :)
Agree, as much as they like different ways to play Guitar, Page running that Violin Bow across the Strings was magical to me. And still is, no matter who does it. However He was the first that I saw.
Dam right it was....

Page could be pretty sloppy, but he really could play very free and loose, and that's when he's best live.
studio version is far better
"How the West Was Won" from the LA shows a year prior is better overall.
I was there at all three shows. There was nothing average or ho-hum about them.
Geez if you don't think The Rain Song, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter etc at MSG are great then unplug your ears.

The Kennedy Centre band version with the Wilson sisters from Heart is brilliant too, BUT… they had 6 guitarists on stage, two choir sections, a chamber orchestra, a bass player and two keyboard players! STRAIGHT FACTS!!❤️
Absolutely! Well said bro
This is from The Song Remains the Same. One of the best music documentaries ever. The whole concert is amazing!!

In this live version, in the extended part of the guitar solo, if heaven exists, there is a note to get you there. The entire solo is amazing, but that particular note has spoken to my very existence since I first saw the movie of this concert in 1978.

@@squaaaaak3178 Jimmy's guitar solo say something to you here? Bonzos drumming?
@@squaaaaak3178 His singing is really not the best (you can admit that without a doubt), but that's what makes it, the imperfect perfection. And despite all this, Led Zeppelin are miles better than today's bands, because they embody and mean exactly what they sing.
squaaaaak,
Plant was suffering from nodules on his vocal cords in 1973 and had to have an operation soon after this tour. He sang better in 1969, 1970, 1971 and much of 1972 but he's still good in places during the MSG gigs, particularly The Rain Song. He is amazing with that long note at the end.
Even under par Plant in 1973 is better than 90% of other front men.
I think there will never be a song more EPIC then "Stairway To Heaven"...It is the most ICONIC ever! 😍❣🎸🎼
Rarely ever should you do the live version of a song first…no matter how good it may be…
Paul McCartney’s Maybe I’m Amazed & Peter Frampton’s Do You Feel Like We Do are a couple rare instances where the live version is better.
I keep saying the same thing to reactors.
Studio version is the one all us old folks find perfect as is.. lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸. Live is good but always different..❤️🌸✌🏻
This is my fave version ever.

Also on that same album , theres good rocking at midnight
In My Time of Dying is my all-time favorite Zeppelin song. Page is a genius.

Well its 1973 actually but....
@@lyndoncmp5751 I looked it up on UA-cam before posting. I guess they had the wrong year.
Yes, this is the one I was trying to find!
It's at this same concert. I was there on the Saturday night gig. Right up front towards the right side about 6 people in front of us.
Remember that scene in the movie "Wayne's World" where they went to the music store and he picked up a guitar and played the classic "May I help you?" riff, only to have the salesman point to the sign that said "No Stairway to Heaven"?
This song has some serious staying power!
"No Stairway?? DENIED!"
@@Ninnative A friend of mine said that it wasn't considered cool among musicians to actually play Stairway.
Respect!

As a guitar 'player' this was a song we all HAD to learn...but Page's genius is something else entirely. This live version exhibits the magic of the band that can never be duplicated. What a blast watching you guys discover this. Keep 'em coming!
Jimmy Page is absolutely amazing! That’s definitely why listening to a song live is great. But still listen to studio version.
That solo was pretty janky from Jimmy imho
Got clunky in places.
OMG!!! I am so very surprised you had never heard this before outside of Heart's version. Heart did it so well but this is beyond that in every way.
I"m 65 and having been listening to this since it came out in 1971. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and every Labor Day Weekend they played the top 100 or 500 or however many countdown and pretty much for almost 2 decades there was one constant.....The #2 song was always "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and the #1 song of course was "Stairway to Heaven" by our beloved Led Zeppelin....WITHOUT FAIL....ALWAYS !!!!
I turn 70 in a couple of days and still love this group. So them in 72 at th Boston Garden. First concert and most memorable
@@franktwiss6758 Awesome........
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Rock And Roll" and "Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)"!!!
I 2nd them.
There are classics and there are CLASSICS. This is a CLASSIC that will never grow old and every generation will listen to and question music .All four members are deep into this song in their own way.
This is live rock at its artistic finest! Led Zeppelin one of the GOATS, rip John Bonham
I am so jealous that they are listening to this for the FIRST time, omg!!!what that must be like!!! I am one of the generation that grew up with this& have loved Led Zeppelin for I don’t want to think how many years, so amazing to see this young generation loving this 🙏👍
not a note wasted. A masterpiece. 🖼️
I love the 28-minute Dazed and Confused from this concert. Unbelievable guitar playing and, as you said, the rest of the band being in synch.
That's a quality of good ,real musicians
In the Letterman interview after the Kennedy Centers Honors, they said they improvised most of the music from concert to concert. This why they didn't bring in another drummer to replace Bonham.
Dazed and confused is amazing. One of the top five greatest bands EVER
The studio version is even better. Absolutely incredible!
Especially the Solo. I know have heard this before, but Yikes. It sounds like the way I would play it at a local bar.
Absolutely
@@TangoNevada You couldnt be more wrong
@@jp1170 It's just an opinion, everyone has one. I personally think the Studio vs of the Solo is flawless. In the live version, I can hear many, many missed notes and slip ups. Still stellar compared to most guitarists live, but the studio version is pristine. It's just a matter of preference, there is no right or wrong answer.
One of the most requested songs in rock history
Now You know WHY This was the Number One Requested Song for over 20 Years.... 🎶🎸🎸🎶
One of the things that made John Bonham such an amazing drummer was how he played off of what Page was doing on the guitar. Together they were magical.
Yep usually it’s the drummer and bass tied in
Even more amazing is that he did that while at the same time holding down the beat to some really strange stuff that Page would throw at him. Black Dog and Kashmir, are great examples of that. He would put some foundation to what Page was doing and then at certain times leave it and follow page into some weird lick and back to the beat again. Having John Paul Jones on bass, keyboards, and half a dozen other instruments didn't hurt any either.
Bonzo ( John bonham) is truly a god of the sticks. Jason Bonham ( son ) was the drummer with Heart .amazing legacy.
@@somersetcace1 Love Kashmir
🤟
The next Led Zeppelin song you need to do is The Rain Song, absolutely epic. There is a live version on UA-cam with a full orchestra back up. Incredible song and arrangement including a close up of Jimmy Page playing acoustic guitar throughout. It really is a must see.
I walked down the aisle to that song. I had picked it many years before I even met my husband. I think it's the most romantic song ever written.
Yeah the live version at MSG is even better than the studio version. It just has more going for it, and Plant at the end is incredible.
Listen to it with ambient rainfall sound in the background. Incredible.
The Rain Song!!!!! YES !!
"Rain Song" is tied as my favorite with "Battle of Evermore".
As a kid I was a little scared of the eeriness of this song but now an all-time favorite, I know people are saying the studio version is better but for me the heart, soul and emotion of this live version makes it all the better, so glad you guys did this reaction❤❤
Agreed..studio is good but this live version is the real STH IMO..
Bringing me back to my high school parties. I did not do drugs ever! I still love my friends, and I loved music, so we would chill in front of a bomb fire
and I would back my 1979 Thunderbird up, open up the trunk, and blast this!! Yes baby!! I miss my youth! Great job guys! Thanks!!!!
The studio version is perfection.
The live is longer and you can see them do their work
@@theodoreritola7641 I'll choose better over longer...
Ha! My daughter came out singing Soundgarden!
Lol my introduction to this was through my grade 6 teacher playing this during class and my mind was just blown
Love Led Zeppelin since I was a teenager in the 70's. Im almost 63 yrs now and still listening! I wore my Led Zeppelin t-shirt to high school!
You should always do studio versions first so you can understand why people fell in love with the song
Fun story
Awe my man, so cool witnessing Led Zeppelin in 71. Thank you for sharing comment, again so cool.
@@2paddykool well done my man, I mean it. I'm glad Plant branched into different music also. but I did buy his CD's in the 90's. sir it was a pleasure reading your comments. I really dig it. Enjoy your time
PLEASE -- Do NOTTT stop these crescendos that artists have spent sooOooo much time & effort creating!!!!!!!!!!! The obvious solution is NO stopping the songs in the FIRST place. This & other songs are ART. THANK YOU.
YES! I agree 1000%!!!
The 6 string guitar AND the SOLO is Jimmy's FENDER TELECASTER that Jeff Beck gave him. Also the entire 1st album is the Tele. Jimmy didn't get a Les Paul until Led Zeppelin 2 album
Well, this live version is not better than the original studio version. Oh well, maybe they will listen to the best version one day.
This song certainly takes me back to high school days. Beautiful. 😊❤
And it took a full band, an orchestra & three choirs to even come close to what you just watched performed by 4 guys. 🤘🎶❤️
Word!
50 years old and still going strong in 200 years this will be considered classical music.
Led Zeppelin is iconic. My favorite band of all time!!!
Greatest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time
You're not wrong my friend of the same name
As far as musicianship and technical ability, I agree. I prefer the Beatles, but that's just my tastes. These guys are up on another level.
Nah they are in the Era of legends. They are just legendary. Maybe they did more satanic rituals than others. (Wink wink lol)
@@KazyReed
I hate the Beatles. Lol.
The Beatles and Pink Floyd better
I LOVE how the song climbs its own stairway of intensity to the top level !!
@@sharonhoyt2133Wow, thats quite the story Sharon, thank you for the reply. Yeh life , or death, takes funny turns sometimes.
