Thank you all so much for putting up with me and my extra long video! I tried really hard not to leave anything out (something that has gotten me in trouble in past videos, turns out sacrificing info for cutting down video time isn't helpful). I really really appreciate each and every single one of you! Love y'all! 🤗
Shivani Dudyala I heard somewhere on YT to apply coconut oil to hair prior to swimming in a pool to protect your hair from chlorine bleach. Also, use a clarifying shampoo containing sulfate after swimming in a pool. I hope that helps.😊
You literally put so much work into your videos and I love it. The amount of research you do is amazing. Thank you. Even though my hair is literally way curlier, I still find your videos helpful.
I’m only a little over a week into my CG journey, loving your videos, lots of great information! But it can be so overwhelming too. I want to buy and try alllll the products but I have no idea what my hair will like or even what kind of waves/curls I may end up with. So far all I have are some waves and maybe a few pieces that curl.
Hang in there! Try to keep it simple and if possible try to get trial sizes. At least until you figure out what works best for you. Remember it's not a race, nor is it a religion. It's just Guidelines for your Journey to healthy hair and the waves/curls is our bonus.
Giiiiirl, you've just read my mind. Thank you for this video and all the others. I am trying to get my curly hair back...I realized that I was not taking care of my curls how I supposed to. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Hopefully, with some care and patience, my curls will return! Thank you again!!!
Just... thank you! :) I've been watching so many CGM videos over the past few weeks since starting my curly journey and I'm still never really sure what order to use all the products. I also didn't really understand curl enhancers until this video- I think pairing mine with a gel is going to really help me. Thanks Courtney!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been using CGM for about a month now and been totally confused about how to organize my CG life. This is the video I 100% needed.
So helpful! Honestly get lost in the which products to use and which products are enhancers vs leave-in vs soft hold or hard hold. Thanks for this video!
I am just now trying to embrace my curly hair (at 41 - eeek). Most days, it's in a clip or bun because I never knew what to do with it. Seemed anything I tried, my hair still looked like I put my finger in a light socket. I ran across your channel about a week ago and have been learning SOOOOO much! This video especially. Just wanted to say that you are doing a great job and to please keep it up!
I have tried “curly girl” for about a year now... and the reason that is in quotation marks is because I started out pretty half assed (but not on purpose, I didn’t understand anything about my hair and sometimes still don’t lol) I have tried many products and many different routines. This is the first time I have actually really understood what everything means!! This has actually really really helped me understand what a wash day is for and the different types of wash days. Plus we have very similar hair! THANK YOU SO MUCH! It has been so frustrating to have done this for a year and not got the results I wanted. But I am finally feeling more confident about how to do this. I do have a question though, I’m not sure if you check the comments or not plus this video was made 10 months ago lol but what do you do between washes. My hair still tends to be really greasy on about the third day. What I have been doing is using a rinse out conditioner to sort of mimic a shampoo and really scrubbing that into my scalp and it does help but I don’t know if that’s even what I should be doing. Any advice would be great!
Ohh Veggietales! Now I'm gonna have that in my head all evening. Thanks. ;-) Speaking of foams, I have the AG Foam but it doesn't foam up. Think it's broken. After this video I'm more motivated to try one of the others on your list. (I do love AG's Recoil and Mousse Gel, though!) Are you curious what we use? I just thought of that. I use either the Suave clarifying shampoo or the Moptop gentle shampoo, then the Moptop daily conditioner, Moptop leave-in conditioner (to which I add 5 drops of protein), AG Recoil, Moptop's curling custard, then micro-plop with my Hair Repear towel, then oh man, a spiraling gel I can't remember the name for. I use water and AG Mousse Gel for refresh. Whew! Hope I didn't bore y'all. :)
I had a great wash day which really brought out my waves and my hair had vollume at the roots and body and silky but somehow was defined too. I used suave coconut shampoo once then I used shea moisture's coconut hibiscus shampoo once then suaves coconut conditioner scrunched it in I left it in untill I was done with the usual shower things. Rinsed it out and let it air dry to about 40 percent dry then I sprayed shea moisture's coconut hibiscus shine and hold spray. I have 2b hair that is fine medium density that is high porosity. My thought process was ok I like how much volume my hair has with suave shampoo but it's a bit drying but if I use sheas shampoo it's a little too hydrating but it has silk protein which my hair adores. So I tried it the result was shiny happy hair. I agree with you it's so much fun to play around with different products to see how your hair will behave.
I co wash once a week. I use the Davines Love Curl Cleansing Cream. My stylist recommended it to me. When I co wash I rub it in with my fingers and then I use my scalp massager and really work it in. I loooove that thing. It gets my scalp super clean and it feels amazing.
My routine changes as I watch videos and try new products. lol. Although I have been consistent with my shampoos, but I try different gels and mousses. Every week I shampoo (use scalp brush)and condition (use wide tooth comb)with NYMN purple for fine hair. Once a month I clarify with Trader Joes Tea tree shampoo. I deep condition with Garnier one minute avocado mask. My hair is low porosity ( no color or heat), so I can only handle a little protein. I currently tried Mielle for deep conditioning and its ok. I found like you that putting products into soaking wet hair gives me nice juicy spirals. (2c-3a fine curls). I use the denman brush. Mousse makes my hair stringy and so does aloe. Creams (Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie, a little bit) with a little gel works great. I just bought some leave in to use Blue Berry bliss when I need protein and Kinky curly when I don’t. Low humidity days LALooks blue gel gives me nice curls ( just a little bit.) Aussie Instant Freeze on humid days. Scrunch out with Moonshine oil from ecoslay ( I love the smell!). or argon oil. On a lazy day, I will just use eco argon oil gel. It gives me juicy curls, but only last 2 days. (It also contains glycerine.). In the past I tried AsIam and had great slip, but had itchy scalp due to itchy ms. My curls tends to get weighed down too. On occasion I use a pea size amount with water of Cantu activating conditioner for protein (it is too heavy, but i’m using it up since I have it. The smell is too strong for me as well. I tried the new Eva NYC spray and cream that is CGM approved (other stuff isn’t). I love it, but my hair doesn’t like the aloe . It smells good and is light. I love you videos!
So glad I came across your channel!! I've decided to try the curly girl method out as soon as I can get everything I need to start. Your videos have really helped me get recommendations of products and I can't wait 2 begin! Thx again!!
Come on in, the water's fine! 😄 (Tip: Try to get trial sizes. They're easier on the budget and you won't feel so attached to them if they don't work, but if they do, you'll have travel sizes for your suitcase!)
Thank you for all this good stuff pretty girl. I just started and am kinda overwhelmed, however it is sooo much fun! My hair is very similar to yours so far I have loved the As I am cowash, Blueberry bliss and the Rock Hard gelee (1st time used I achieved a cast) Thanks again for your very informative videos. Have a great hair day 😘
This has been the most informational video that I have found in my weeks of research! Thank you, thank you! It's nice to be able to understand and follow different wash options. I'm excited to start fresh with a clean slate again, now that I'm learning the process more.
Thanks Courtney for your inspiring videos! After seeing how beautiful, shiny and bouncy your curls are I was surprised and encouraged when I saw the 2 photos you posted showing your hair in the beginning of your journey that look like my hair when I attempt to style it wavy now. I’m excited to think I might actually improve my wave following the cg method. Possibly curls for me too someday? I’ll be following your lead as I start out tomorrow doing things in a totally new way! Your hair is gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing!
Have you tried the Texture ID Curl Clarifying shampoo??? Curious to hear your thoughts on that one🤔 It smells AMAZING!!! I think it might have protein too. LOOOOVE Innersense I Create Lift!!! Haven't tried the Giovanni, but sounds like I might need to try it if it has good hold.
You need to try the Cantu Curl Activator Cream. It's really moisturizing and I think it's curl enhancing, and it even has a little hold! One of my favorite products, and really cheap! BTW, you look so pretty in navy blue, it really brings out your eyes.
Thank you for all of you informative videos. One of the girls I work with has started the CGM and her hair is absolutely gorgeous! I have just recently started looking into it and researching it. So your videos have been helpful in answering some questions. I will hopefully begin my journey soon.
Tee-hee, I has a hair experiment gone awry. I remembered you said to keep a journal. (I groaned) but after my hair malfunction I realized why. I now know that curl creme and gel together causes chaos. I also used WAY TO MUCH conditioner.
Thanks Courtney another fantastic helpful video I love your product suggestions and even tho my hair is 3 B ish C they work beautifully I think my quest for the best is mostly gel based as that can make or Brake a good wash routine. I always Love 💘 to see your videos as I feel like I am in a teaching class on how to better my ball O frizz😁
My routine is : clarify and deep condition once a month, low poo with deep conditioner once a week and co wash with rinse out conditioner in the middle of the week. I have very dry course wavy hair 2b/2c and a dry scalp (I have eczema so dry skin too). I wear a bonnet at night and refresh my hair in between washes. I'm still transitioning so still have highlights etc I'm growing out. Before starting the cgm and using all the styling products I only needed to wash my hair once a week. The co wash in the middle is to remove products. i live in Scotland (where it's very wet) so try to avoid a lot of glycerin in my styling products as frizz is a constant battle. Shea moisture, As I am and cantu work well on my really dry hair and they're readily available on the high street. I hope that helps others with my hair type. Best wishes.
This kind of video is helpful, mostly. 😊 I like routine and to have things work the same all the time and I’m learning that, with CG, it doesn’t always work that way! I’m about two months in and really want to find something that just works all the time. Slowly, I hope to build a product lineup that really works for me. You give so many options, which is great, but I want to try them all (and can’t afford to!). 😊
Hahah yeah...this is totally a double edged sword! I want to include options so that if someone cant find one then they can maybe find another. But if you really wanted to do a bare bones routine you could totally get away with a conditioner (as a cowash) and a gel! ua-cam.com/video/B-ZX9UeoHjU/v-deo.html
I've been doing exactly that Courtney whilst waiting for my products to arrive (I'm 3 weeks in) and it's been going quite well (although I'm really struggling with an obscene amount of frizz this week. Is that normal for this timeframe or is my hair telling me I need to clarify? Or is it protein I need?). I heard that a protein treatment should be the last thing I try after clarifying and deep conditioning first. Thank you so much for all the wonderful information :)
Hehe, I was just having a dilemma on if i should use something after the uncle funky's daughter curly magic and I checked this video out again. Funny enough I didn't make it through the whole video before seeing I actually did the Giovanni foam after the curly magic. When I checked out when this was published I see it was on my Birthday last year!!! Yay!! Seriously, thanks for all your info, I skipped the leave in for cream =), I used to use both and it was a little redundant. God bless you for making this video, very very informative and just what I needed at the right time!
I really appreciate this video; it helps make sense of all these products out there. I’ve just started letting my waves come out so thank you for all your videos. I’m only a few days in (maybe 5?) and I’ve been binging all your videos. Thank you.
Thank you for this video Courtney! I LOVEEE the Uncle funky’s product! I use it before I use the kinky curly custard and it’s works very well for me! Not sure if you tried that combo, but it’s pretty awesome on my fine hair!
I’m baffled by the process. #1 shower first then shampoo? #2 plop on a microfiber towel or wrap in the microfiber turban? #3 when do I put on facial moisturizer? #4 did I really sleep with my head in a blender? #4 what to do with the multiple products that my hair truly hates? #5 how do I recognize too much or too little protein? #6 what if I can never have curls but stuck with cowlicks all over my head?
I always get so excited when you upload a new video !! Always so helpful. I'm about two weeks into my curly girl journey. Tried it off an on for a year but always get discouraged during the transition. I tend to dislike my hair alot and want to quit so I can brush it and make it soft and tangle free. But I'm trying to stick with it this time. My hair looks alot like yours when you started so hopeful 🤞 for the same turn out if I don't give up this time. Did you want to quit and dislike your hair alot in the beginning ? How'd you get through it ? Desperately need help. My hair is definitely wavy but can be a struggle to make it look nice. Thanks for another helpful video, keep them coming 😁
@@margienoire7464 thanks for the help !! I've been doing my wash routine at night too but I guess the thing I hate the most is not being able to brush out tangles, I will try the wide tooth comb, I'm sure it will help, I don't like not being able to brush or run my fingers through my hair sometimes. I don't want to give up again, want to make it work. Thanks again 😊
@@margienoire7464 the curly girl method is so overwhelming to me, but feel like it will be so worth it in the end. Do you use any good drugstore products ? Trying to be economical, can't always buy the expensive stuff
Here's a couple things to try - get a wet brush (they can be found cheap at Marshalls and T.J.MAX) and brush the conditioner thru. Dry brush just before you wash your hair, gently and use a paddle brush with large widespread blunt and, if possible, wooden "bristles". Manes by Mell has a wash day video and shows the brush she uses. She definitely believes in brushing - at least while wet and with conditioner. Just remember: the CGM is not a religion, it's just Guidelines for your Journey to healthy hair. The waves and/or curls are the frosting on the cake.
Do you have any alternative for a good clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner for very fine 2b low po Hair? I live in Italy and the products you mentioned are not available. Thanks so much for the info you are giving me!!! 🌻
I have a recommendation for co wash , I have scalp issues as well. I really like the oyin homemade ginger mint co-wash it has helped sooo much . Love you and your videos!!
This might have already been asked (you have so many comments and so many videos.. you're THAT amazing 😆), but what makes you use a cream over a leave-in conditioner? Like, how do you decide which one you want to go with?
Thank you so much. New subscriber. Finally someone who uses actual light weight products. My curls are different, but same light hair as you. Everything weighs it down lol. I'm totally going to try your Giovanni hair routine. I need simplicity and those one brand routines are a God send . Thanks again! Quick question, I'm not a fan of gel, could I just stop after the leave in conditioner? Or should I use a curl enhancing cream? Not sure if that would be too heavy for my hair then.
Great video!!! Question: Do you ever have a problem with your hair clumping weird after doing everything upside down or after plopping? Like, I NEVER plop for more than a couple of minutes because of how my hair kinda stays stuck in plop position... It won't hang down around my neck if that makes any sense. :/
@@longyarn4288 As in, skip plopping entirely? That is what I do most days. But after washing/styling upside down, my hair is still reluctant to hang normally. I was wondering if there was a technique to help.
I would love to know too. I've had the same problem with washing and stuling upside down - my hair doesn't hang right and the clumps have stringy bits attached. I've had to go back to doing it all with my head tipped to the side, which solves that problem but doesnt give me as much volume at the roots
@@karissathatcher9206 - I don't, 'cause I can't, style upside down. Jannelle O'Shaughnessy has a how to video on that and shows how she root clips and blow dries. Root clipping works for me but my hair is so thin and fine that I have to remember to remove them after only 5 to 10 minutes or I get weird alien looking peaks that form and won't go away! 👽
Hello Courtney! Thank you for this helpful video. I am new to your channel and the curly girl method. I was wondering how often you feel the need to wash your hair. Do you keep it consistent? (Like every 3-4 days?) Or does it just depend on how you think your hair feels? I've been alternating low poo and co-washing but I feel like I have to wash my hair every other day, when before the cgm I could go 3-4 days without washing. Does this mean the products I have chosen are likely too heavy for my hair? Thank you!
This was such a helpful video. Do you have a video where you use the Uncle Funky’s Daughter or KCCC? I just got UFD and I looooove the scent, but have had 2 bad hair days using it before gel so I’m a little confused on what I’m going wrong (or maybe my hair doesn’t like aloe?)
I sure will make that video! I may already have one but I can't remember at the moment. Soooo the best way to tell if your hair like aloe or not is to use pure aloe as a styler! I did that in this video: ua-cam.com/video/jRD6mV7vf78/v-deo.html
That’s a good idea! Maybe I can find a tiny bottle somewhere :) ps I tried the Zotos sample set because of your “one line wash day” and had a pretty damn good hair day 😁 Gonna try a few more times to see if I get consistent results.
Swavy Curly Courtney I used the UFCM and Spiralicious on sopping wet hair the other day and had fabulous curls! Then I used it today as a refresh with Blueberry Bliss as a base and I was disappointed with the result. Of course, my hair doesn’t like deep conditioners, leave-ins, or conditioners in general so that might be the problem. In fact, I only condition every 3rd or 4th washday but before I shampoo; otherwise my hair is limp and my curls are soft and mushy. I have fine, 3a, HP crazy hair!
Graciana Piaggio You are so welcome! I’m so glad they’re helpful. Yes, I absolutely recommend product free days! Frequently! They give you a break from styling, and really allow you to assess what your hair needs. Also it’s fun to be able to run your fingers through your hair. LOL!
The book is outdated. Clarifying your hair is Curly Girl approved, because wavies have different rules than those with 3a-4c hair. Also, have you considered not applying conditioner all the way up to your roots? That helps me with root lift and not getting too greasy too soon.
I just started curly girl two weeks ago. I started by clarifying and deep conditioning. How often should I be clarifying? How often should I be doing a protein treatment? HELP!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! It is very helpful for me as I "ease" into the curly girl method. I have always loved my hair's natural texture but still enjoy to blow dry and curl it maybe twice month. This video had given me a great basis of CG approved products and steps to bein my journey! Thank you!
I’m so confused. I guess I co-washed when I should have clarified and vise versa. I’m not familiar with a lot of the products except the tub co-wash that’s name I can never remember. Mop something, I bought the clarifying, and Inahsi, clarifying, conditioner and the tub deep conditioner were delivered today. I’m just confused, when, what, plop, my hair is too short so what do I do...🤷🏻♀️sigh
Love your videos and your animated tutorials 💕 Quick question - Giovanni leave-in has glycine soya seed extract 4th on its ingredient list, does this make it a strong protein product? Xx
This is a great question! I don't believe so even though Glycine Soja is a soybean extract. It is my understanding that this molecule would be too big to penetrate the hair shaft and reconstruct the hair from the inside out like a true protein would do. I did find this info: According to The Skin Care Dictionary, glycine soja (soy) contains significant amounts of all the essential amino acids and is a good source of protein. It is derived from soybean amino acids and is rich in protein, minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin E. It is commonly used in bath oil and soap making, as well as for skin conditioning and skin firming because it is a natural emollient and moisturizer. So it sounds like is it a bit of both a hydrating ingredient as well as containing amino acids (very very small broken down proteins).
Seriously... you are a star! I did look up the information myself but got a bit confused, so this was really helpful. Thank you for taking the time to reply xx
My hair is like 2c on top with 3a underneath, maybe slightly curlier. Yesterday I clarified my hair and I regularly conditioned it, then when I got out of the shower I dried my hair a little then I did a mousse in my hair, it seemed to look the best so far. Now what do I do today? Do I do a cowash or a no poo wash?
Oh another question! I think you said you stay away from products with coconut in them because of an allergy? Are all these products you mentioned coconut free? A stylist suggest I stay away from coconut too
Chelsea Pickslay no sadly these products are not completely coconut free. But if you want an easy peasy coconut free product line you should check out simply curls co on Etsy.
I am working on my wash day regimen. What I’m wondering is if I should build one that’s all from one line or mix and match? My scalp is very sensitive and dry, so I’m not sure. P.s. Loved the Veggie Tales reference 😂
Just my two cents but I think if you find a brand/line that works for your hair and scalp, And is balanced, or at least seems like it is, Go for it! A lot of us curlies like to mix and match and, well...lets face it, Play with the products we have. Just like a cook plays with the spices in his cabinet or a painter with their paint. We're all just throwing in a little this and that trying to create our masterpiece. You can always add a different product later on IF you find you need it. I think once I've used up most of the supplies I've accumulated in my bid to get my best possible curls and grow out my pixie, plus try to regain some lost density, I'll probably be trying the Zotos All About Curls line. What seems to be working for you, or do you have your eye on something that looks promising?
long yarn I have a very sensitive scalp, so I’m wondering if all the different products from different lines might be irritating it. I need more moisture instead of more protein so I’m wondering if Giovanni line would work.
Perhaps you hair is reacting badly to an ingredient in your deep conditioner. Have you tried several different deep conditioners? It is also possible that your hair doesn't require deep conditioning! (Most peoples hair needs it, but everyone's hair is different) 🤗
Any conditioner can be used as a deep conditioner provided you leave it on longer and/or apply heat. Most products labeled as deep conditioners are thicker and heavier in nature, and for my fine, low density hair, this is a no-go. So... I never deep condition, it just isn't necessary for me. Not all people with curly hair have dry hair.
Would you recommend these products for low porosity, thin hair? My hair gets weighed down easily. I tried Cantu Curl Cream (I'm a UK gal so can't get all of your products) and the first day looked amazing, but the second day was a limp greasey mess. I tried just using less, but didn't work :( Thanks
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Not yet, they're on my 'saving up' list :) I'll try both of these. I'm trying to find something to tame the halo frizz of my low-por hair without weighing it down. My gel is fab, but refresh days are a frizzy pain. Thanks!
Yes since making that extremely affordable routine video I have started reacting to coconut! I am learning to manage it but some days are worse than others! And I also found out after making that video that the LA gel was building up on my hair like crazy! (Apparently its just the Level 9 green one that does that, and the Level 10 blue gel doesn't build up 🤔) And I know some of the products I mentioned in the video contain coconut and coconut derived ingredients but for whatever reason I do not react to these like I reacted to the Suave conditioner.
Possibly, but it depends on the ingredients in each product, AND the porosity and density of your hair. For example, low porosity hair has a harder time accepting larger proteins, fine hair usually doesn't do as well with thick, heavy creams, etc.
So I started using the kinky curly gel this week and noticed it is leaving my hair looking really oily, like it’s got a wet coating on it after it dries. Has anybody else had this problem? I’m wondering if I got a knock off, or if I’m just using it incorrectly. I have super fine, light wavy hair that holds water like a sponge. I’ve only been using a small, dime-size amount . Any recommendations?
Well that is kind of weird. I do notice that this product makes my hair shiny, but it does not build up on my very build up prone hair. I have heard some other people say that they feel like their hair is almost oily when they use it. I wonder if there are two different formulas out there. Weird!
i still kind of think my curls are fake... since i use the cgm my hair is so soft its almost completly straight if i dont squish it with gel. before the cgm at least my ends always build a litle ringlet if i didnt do anything to my hair. is someone going trough the same? my routine is cowash every 2 to 3 days and leave in, sometimes if i want to wear my hair open i use gel, and every few weeks i wash my hair with a nomal sulfate shampoo to prevent build up
@@longyarn4288 i use products with protein every few days and my hair is super healthy no spliss or knots after days of not combing. I dont think protein is the solution :(
@@develishcat5473 - Still, it couldn't hurt to try a rice water rinse and see what happens. I use the boiled version and mix in about 1/4 a cup of Jessicurl Deep to the water I mush out of the rice after it boiled for quite some time. It becomes almost as thick as a thin commercial conditioner. I apply it after a clarifying wash and leave it on with a heat cap for 30 minutes. The rice water rinse is not only good for your hair - it helps with hair fall and encourages growth - it really gets my curls springing up! If that still doesn't work, you could try an Olaplex 3 treatment.
Can you do a video on curl creams!? I have had a curl cream remove all the slip out of my hair and have no idea why. I seem to need a leave no matter what.
Check the ingredients list. If it has Magnesium Sulfate (A.K.A.: Epsom salt) that might be the problem. However, if there's a lot of protein in your line up and there's protein in the curl cream, you may be over loaded. I have this happen when I use black tea with aloe vera juice as a final rinse too often. Aloe vera juice acts as a protein and when I've recently henna'd my hair it says "Enough is enough." And that's when I have to add a leave in.
Thank you so much for this! I've been at this for about 6 months and my wash day curls are coming along nicely, but I'm still only at the stringy subsequent days (*sigh). I'm just a bit confused about where gel fits in with the above? I've always thought it was to be last, but you seem to indicate mousse is your most typical last product. Does it go in before you plop then? I'm hoping I might get better 2 and 3 day hair if I can get a stronger cast on wash day. I don't know for sure, if course, but I thought I'd try it. Thanks again!!
Swavy Curly Courtney I’ll definitely be watching that video! I’ve watched all of your videos. Some of them multiple times. I just love how you explain the process! Thank you!

Any advice would be great!
yes do that but pick up a co wash!! They’re made for this reason, to refresh and moisturize without shampoo!!
You have helped me so much with my curly hair journey.
My hair is very similar to yours so far I have loved the As I am cowash, Blueberry bliss and the Rock Hard gelee (1st time used I achieved a cast)
Thanks again for your very informative videos. Have a great hair day 😘
how’s it going one year later?
This has been the most informational video that I have found in my weeks of research! Thank you, thank you! It's nice to be able to understand and follow different wash options. I'm excited to start fresh with a clean slate again, now that I'm learning the process more.
That Zotos cream must be super popular. I haven't been able to find it at any of my local Sally's!
Yup! If you call ahead they'll hold one for you if you're coming that day. I was sad that I missed the BOGO sale. 🤷♀️🤣
Same here!
How much do u use of it
@@leander8840 I have very high-density, dry, fine-stranded 2C hair, and I use a generous quarter-sized amount. It's very concentrated.
I just used the Unashe mint shampoo for the first time. Really nice .
SOOOO helpful, just starting out as an swavy curly girl and I haven't found anyone that explains it as well as you!
OMG! I have looking for help explaining the difference between co-washing and shampooing and when each is done. This helped a ton!! thank you!
Your videos are amazing and I learn so much. Keep it up for all of us who need help!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney I'd like to start this method, which types of products are necessary? Low poo, conditioner, hair mask, gel, mousse?
Thank you.
Hey lady I’m sharing this with a new curly girl on our group.
It’s a great explanation
Love the pirates who don't do anything! Thank you for sharing I go off the way my hair feels to judge what I should go for lol kinda works out :)
Great video. Lots of useful information! Thanks!
I hear ya.......feels like a rats nest on my head!
@@stellatorgy8414exactly !!! This part is not my favorite, lol !! Hoping it will get better
Great idea for a video! Congrats on 16 k subs! You are so enjoyable to watch. I really appreciate these detailed vids! Have a great week!
Awwww thank you Peggy! 🤗
Another great video. I'd love to see a video about the 123 gel method.
I have a recommendation for co wash , I have scalp issues as well. I really like the oyin homemade ginger mint co-wash it has helped sooo much . Love you and your videos!!
krystle westbrook What are your scalp issues? I have very dry easily irritated scalp and am looking for the best products.
Chelsea Pickslay I have a dry scalp that gets patchy and itchy easily
It’d be awesome for you to put the prices on screen if you could! Love the videos!!
I do link every product in the description box if that helps! The prices can be found there!
Such a fantastic video !!!! Thank you God bless youuuuu Courtney 💜💜
This might have already been asked (you have so many comments and so many videos.. you're THAT amazing 😆), but what makes you use a cream over a leave-in conditioner? Like, how do you decide which one you want to go with?
Excellent video Courtney! I've always been a pick at random cg. This really helps.
Oh Yeay!!! I'm so so glad if this is helpful! I really appreciate you April! You are so encouraging! Thank you!!
Incredibly helpful video, thank you!
So much great information! This is so helpful! Thank you!!!
hey! congrats on 127k
This has been so incredibly helpful. Thank you.x
Great video!!! Question: Do you ever have a problem with your hair clumping weird after doing everything upside down or after plopping? Like, I NEVER plop for more than a couple of minutes because of how my hair kinda stays stuck in plop position... It won't hang down around my neck if that makes any sense. :/
Karissa Thatcher I have the same issue! It looks like I glued my hair to my scalp 😂
Maybe just scrunch out the excess water and root clip.
Have you tried Trader Joes Tea Tree shampoo? It is CGM approved and is a clarifier that some people can use more often. It is only $4 at Trader Joes.
yes gurl, you make sense!!!
Can you review the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk products please!
Such great information. Thanks for sharing!
Can you recommend any deep conditioners that I can get in Canada? I can't seem to get inahsi or the Curl Junkie Repair Me!
Thank you!
Love your realness!
What are your thoughts on Orange Marmalade? Is it more of a curl enhanced or a gel?
Swavy Curly Courtney
I used the UFCM and Spiralicious on sopping wet hair the other day and had fabulous curls!
Hi Courtney ☺️ would you recommend product free days? Thank you so much for your infos 😍😍😍
Graciana Piaggio You are so welcome! I’m so glad they’re helpful. Yes, I absolutely recommend product free days! Frequently! They give you a break from styling, and really allow you to assess what your hair needs. Also it’s fun to be able to run your fingers through your hair. LOL!
Hey Courtney, how do you cut/trim your hair please? Mandy in Dubai - frizz seems to be the norm for me :(
Also wondering if when you do your videos xan you list the prices, like do on video full of you just showing your priducts amd how much they cosf
The book is outdated. Clarifying your hair is Curly Girl approved, because wavies have different rules than those with 3a-4c hair.
Also, have you considered not applying conditioner all the way up to your roots? That helps me with root lift and not getting too greasy too soon.
Can you make a video of your everyday wash day
I just started curly girl two weeks ago.
Thank you!
Yay! I’m so glad! Hugs friend!
I did find this info:
According to The Skin Care Dictionary, glycine soja (soy) contains significant amounts of all the essential amino acids and is a good source of protein.
What is the difference between a curl cream and a curl enhancer? I thought they were the same.
Do you have a current step by step video like this?
Oh another question! I think you said you stay away from products with coconut in them because of an allergy? Are all these products you mentioned coconut free? A stylist suggest I stay away from coconut too
Chelsea Pickslay no sadly these products are not completely coconut free. But if you want an easy peasy coconut free product line you should check out simply curls co on Etsy.
How do you and how much of the kinky curly curling custard do you use?
About a teaspoons worth!
I need more moisture instead of more protein so I’m wondering if Giovanni line would work.
long yarn I have also thought about Zotos!
Have you tried camile rose curl maker?
Just gorgeous
Courtney, i have a problem. I can’t deep condition because it gives me more frizz than definition. Do you have any tips??
Thank you both sm
Any opinions on the catwalk by tigi curls rock amplifier ? It’s the only the i own for my 2a/b hair:(
Would you recommend these products for low porosity, thin hair? My hair gets weighed down easily. I tried Cantu Curl Cream (I'm a UK gal so can't get all of your products) and the first day looked amazing, but the second day was a limp greasey mess. I tried just using less, but didn't work :( Thanks
Hmmmmm have you tried any of the giovanni products? (I think those are available in the UK).
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Not yet, they're on my 'saving up' list :) I'll try both of these. I'm trying to find something to tame the halo frizz of my low-por hair without weighing it down. My gel is fab, but refresh days are a frizzy pain. Thanks!
How do you know if your hair is over moisturised?
Thank you. Helps.
What about Suave Coconut Tropical Conditioner and LA gell?
Courtney is allergic to products with coconut in them, I believe. :)
They're good inexpensive choices if you're not allergic like Courtney.
i totally love Veggie Tales!!!!
Ok dumb question. If I use products all from the same line, wouldn't that be a way to balance out?
Weird!
I see that most products expire, do you use them after the expiration date?
Nope! Do you?
I'm new to this what is a 2A,2B,2C Hair?
Can you tell me what your porosity is? You may have mentioned it in one of your videos but I can't remember
ua-cam.com/video/sB6W-brAGlQ/v-deo.html
You got a new bottle! 😂
i still kind of think my curls are fake... since i use the cgm my hair is so soft its almost completly straight if i dont squish it with gel. before the cgm at least my ends always build a litle ringlet if i didnt do anything to my hair. is someone going trough the same? my routine is cowash every 2 to 3 days and leave in, sometimes if i want to wear my hair open i use gel, and every few weeks i wash my hair with a nomal sulfate shampoo to prevent build up
Sounds like you need some protein.
I will try the rinse thank you
Can you do a video on curl creams!?
I've been at this for about 6 months and my wash day curls are coming along nicely, but I'm still only at the
stringy subsequent days (*sigh).
Yes I like applying gel on soaking wet hair before I plop! 🤗
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Thank you so much! I'll give that a try then😊😊
