In the late 60's early 70's such a magic ship of albums that sailed crisscrossing the Atlantic, from England to the States and the States to England. What a glorious time to be young and turned onto music such as this.
The line, "At the age of 14 Winwood joined the Spencer Davis Group,..." from his bio on Wikipedia, just amazes me. More amazing was that he had been, "backing blues singers such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker, Howlin' Wolf, B. B. King, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Eddie Boyd, Otis Spann, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley on their United Kingdom tours" before that. What a bold and talented individual!
This is my alltime favorite song. And this is my favorite recording.I like how the fire popped and Steve didn't flich 1 bit he was deep into the song. Perfect
been listening to you for a lot of yrs now Steve in my oppion this is the best youv'e ever sounded singing this song and your guitar playing is Excellent keep up the good work Rich in WV
Oh Lordy, Steve! What a sweet version of this song, with the Martin in hand; and your vocals on this have never been better! I'm so glad I found this channel. Caught the band at the House of Blues last time there. Great, great show! Thanks for such a terrific and extensive songbook, and so happy that you and Eric are working together again too! God bless!
the more I listen to this, the more I feel for you, the more your passion, your loneliness, your soul touches me, deep deep deep inside. Thank you so much :)
I tuned my Yamaha down one whole step and dropped the low E to a D and it sounds just like his, minus the particular sound you get from a Martin of course. The timing of his playing is really amazing. He gets a feel going from the start and runs with it and used his guitar and voice to amazing ends. The balance is beautiful. I agree about his vocals being very, very good. After all these years, there is still hope. If this is the bar I am looking for a way UNDER it ;-)
Awesome Idea To Begin With,Your Song Has Inspired Millions,Entire Generations,Still Sounding The Best To Me My Friend:)Thank You For Just being You,Your The greatest! Music=Peace!! Randy
Any more videos of Steve performing acoustic versions of his songs? If you're in the uk you can see "Steve Winwood: English Soul" on the BBCi player until 27th Jun At 29 minutes there's a clip of Steve playing Dear Mr fantasy (looks like it's from the same 'session'). Only a few seconds though. Would love to hear the full version
Your voice has always been tremendious, you said plenty of sleep was one on the keys to that ...& no cigars on tour!! I wonder if this settin is in the old dairy barn thing you record in now. Record another, we enjoy!
I keep coming back to this video every few weeks to get my fix. Such soulful simple beauty to this song. ❤️❤️
Talk about the high water mark... This man and his music are legendary...
I love how that fire knows exactly when to make a rimshot.
Mesmerizing-voice and guitar. It just doesn't get better than this!
The snap of the fire was perfect! ;)
Humbling, right? What pure, raw beauty.
