YeahNo101 ? hey i wanted to share with you what Jesus Christ said, He said in matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” wow! and Jesus Christ loves YOU so much, i’m going to bring up these 3 scriptures john 3:16-21: “for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” romans 5:6-8: “you see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” and romans 10:9-13: “if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” so God wants to redeem and restore you! He wants to give you true love and joy and peace not only on earth but in His eternal kingdom! but our sins have separated us from God, and the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is in those scriptures, His grace! so if you would turn away from your sins to follow God and put your faith and trust in Him and what He did for you He would gift you His grace which is eternal life in His kingdom where there will be no more death, or sorrow, or crying. there will be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. because He loves and cares for you so much! but if we deny and reject Him, He is just and holy and righteous and will have to deny and reject us of His kingdom. and there will be weeping and gnashing and fire when we’re separated from God, because in God is everything good but without Him is the opposite. there is also a channel here on youtube i appeal to you to watch it’s called “Christ forgiveness ministries” hear what they have to say! God bless you my friend accept Jesus Christ and He will give you true life here and in heaven and give it to you abundantly you His grace. amen 🙌
with youtube, i've now seen some guitarists who even use their guitar to create some kind of percussion sound or beat while playing their guitar so yes, those strings, their voice and the guitar body can be more and more incredible!
He's a one man show, this is hard to pull off on a stage. One man with acoustic guitar owned the whole world, he gave you the energy of a whole band playing while in fact he's there all alone with his guitar.
Neil is a big model-train collector, and my Dad used to run into him at train shows and ask if he bought anything good. Neil would open his bag and show my Dad his new engine and they'd chat about it like it was no big deal. Just a legend showing my Dad his trains. We used to joke that he'd sing to my Dad, "Old man take a look at my train, it's a lot like yours."
Wow! I was 23 years old when this was released. I imagined myself singing this song to an old man. Now, I'm 75 and it's being sung to me. Neil Young, thanks!
I didn't get this song until I got to my 30's also. I mean I understood what it was saying but I could not relate. Until one day I began to see more and more of him in myself hehe. We're all dad v 2.0 really ;) just a lil updated.
for one person on stage playing just a acoustic guitar, this song sounds amazing... probably One of the best sounding one-man with a acoustic guitar performances I've ever heard👏
My dad left when I was 12 and I didn't see him again until 36 years later. It was a song that expressed the raw emotions I was feeling about my old man. The song took on a whole new meaning for me later in life.. As fate would have it, I ended up having to be his caretaker for the last 6 years of his life. I am glad I had a chance to get to know and spend time with him. Now I am the old man.
I think he mentioned somewhere he finds it awkward singing this song because the lyrics should change now to Old man take a look at my life I’m a lot like I am.
Lost my dad to cancer when I was 7. Listened to this the night before my wedding at 28 and 21 years of bottling feelings up came out like a storm. Hope the old man is proud, wherever he may be.
You know, I'm only 30 yrs old right now, I didn't really grow up with this music but I gotta say this type of music will never get old and it still sounds better then today's music
I could watch this a thousand times. Sometimes I think that in my next life I'm going to be a musician. Maybe that's why I keep watching this... over and over...
Totally agree. I can remember listening to this on my handheld portable radio under my pillow at night in junior high school. So representative of a simpler time. Very profound. On the musical side it is very intense.
Chorkaloopa Heart of Gold was more popular. Personally, I like Neil Young - Don't Let It Bring You Down best. All these performances from about 1971 were flawless, timeless and performed with powerful precision.
I couldn't appreciate his music till i grew up, got married, had bills to pay, lost my dad, faced life and its continuous problems and worry a lot for the future. His music just feels so real, hits me hard everytime..
This was my old man's music, never was into it until I lost him at a young age. I'm only 22 now and it's been a long 4 years for me, and this song gets better and more emotional every year like a fine wine.

Was that in 71 or 72? I remember my brother buying this album when I was in ninth grade and listening to it endlessly. My brother had good taste in music and introduced to many of the greatest artists back in those days.
We need this. A musician that can make one instrument sound like an orchestra. Lyrics that rival that of poets. Unassisted vocals that are spot on. Tembre in a voice that is simultaneously as powerful as an ocean wave while being a gentle as a spring breeze. We need this...
Sorry to be a contrarian but there is plenty of this now. It’s not hard to find. Stop depending on corporate systems to deliver it you. Heck there’s plenty of it on UA-cam if you look.
Jesse Fontenot why not share a link or two. I’m always open to hear new talents and old talents. I like the fact Neil made it being a little rough, not perfect form, but that certain X factor that gave him his appeal.
@@ericahorton1300 Thanks for your hearts. My acoustic songs were definitely inspired by Neil's music. Check them out on my UA-cam channel and subscribe if you like what you hear. Take care!
Song Writing…something you just cant find in todays music.. thanks Neil and thank you to that old man on your ranch.❤❤ for the inspiration of this song!
My dad died 2 days ago and I remember when I was young in the pickup truck at a railroad crossing this song came on and it brought him to tears and at the time I didn’t understand why but years later it started to hit me hard and now he’s gone it really hits me deep down. The power of music is real.
I was one of the luckiest guys in the world. I married my childhood sweetheart and had two children. First born a son and then a daughter. My son joined the Military in the mid 80's and I missed him immensely. I listened to this song all the time. and when he got out of the military him and I worked together and became not just closed but best of friends. him and I and also his mother went to quite a few Neil Young concerts together. this always had a heavy effect on me a lot more than I did on him. he was a great kid a wonderful son and the greatest friend anyone could have. unfortunately I lost my boy to pancreatic cancer and life is not and never will be the same for me again. I miss him so.
+nuclearbabyouknowit. Thank you, and you must be a great guy also. Take care of the "Old Man" and let him know often how you feel. I wish you both well.
+tackless I love that you can express the feelings of your life so that we can all of us cry and mend together. I thank you for your sentiment, and am drowning in tears for your beautiful son.
i am a son .. me and Dad are not that close as you and your son .. but i tell you i love my Dad .. and i'm sure your son Loves you wherever he is .. He will be home one day for Christmas
Heard this song uncountable times. Sitting here at 46 and reflecting, and I finally understand truly what this story/song is reflecting on. It's not age.
I was 19 when Neil did this one ... It hit me then .... and floors me now at 66. The meaning goes much deeper now. Life has handed me a few ass whoopins .... but I always got back up .... sometimes slower than others, but I always got back up. This song always gets me misty thinking of the wrongs I've done .... and the wrongs that were done to me. Those that gave this 10,567 thumbs down have no idea what's in store for them ... I hope they are able to get back up too .... I'd love to share a bottle with anyone else that has been kicked around and GOT BACK UP !! GOD BLESS YOU ALL !!. I think I'll listen one more time ......
Lone Wolf , why? you poured your heart out, I swear some people are so bitter! 100 thumbs up ok ! Some people can’t address themselves properly! Hey take care and I feel same way!👍
Now this song made a tear run down the right side of my face I’ve bin clean from heroin now for a year and 6 months and I’m starting to feel human emotion again and I love it brother ❤👍.
Great Song from 1971!Thanks Neil!!! - I'm 52 and last week, for the first time in my life, was called an old man - by a stranger - that I got into a confrontation with. I wasn't too deeply insulted, for some reason- maybe because I don't see myself as old, or maybe since it was unexpected? Just don't feel my age - emotionally. Physically, I'm going downhill, but emotionally, I think I'm very much like I have been my adult life. - What has changed? Well, I'm wiser and better at fixing things, and don't have overly big dreams anymore. I've lost my hair in some places, and it's now growing in other places. I now value life more and avoid risky behavior - think motorcycles or speeding. And, the best thing about my age is that I have a 23 year old son - so that is awesome! Anyway, if you're reading this, I wish you well, and peace of mind.
Don Fisher Don't worry about the stupid comment. The dude was probably a drug addict and needed a fix. Thanks to men like you, I learned how to work hard and respect others. I'm 25 years old now.
Get used to it, I get it all the time. I always hung out with the older guys when I was young. Everyone died off. I'm 60 now, still a teenager at heart, but all the guys around me, call me old man!! Who's that guy in the mirror? It does beat the alternative, I'm pretty healthy & im on this side of the ground!!
Don Fisher, your half-century introspective comments give this song the proper perscpective it fully deserves-- one we all want to ignore! Thanks so much for the "snap out of it" moment, well done and damn you Don!!! ..digg the cool breeze! )))
I wonder if the audience realised they were witnessing musical history in the making. One of the greatest singer/songwriters at the peak of his powers, magnificently captured by BBC engineering. One of the epic acoustic performances of all time.
even at such a young age you can hear how advanced his songwriting is - way beyond the typical rock or pop song - the harmonic shifts, the unique song form structure - then you add to that how incredibly unique and expressive a voice - neil is among the best of the best
I feel honored to share the same birthday and some spiritual and aesthetic resemblance to this king who was once someone's little boy and was here singing this when I was a little boy...where were you that day? Life...love...prayers...peace to all
@@leturlefr3264 One of the reasons why I like watching meaningful songs. You realise there's others out there going through tough times as you! So sick of hateful speech on social media! ✌
I hope Neil reads these comments, people actually wore out your records playing them, no hype no gimmicks , no pop flash attention , Neil is a real true hearted musician that grabs you by the Heart strings and plays your soul into painful blissful honesty , you let our pain out. Thank you Neil Long May You Run !
I was lucky to have the opportunity to see Neil Young (unplugged) at the beautiful Fox Theatre in Detroit, MI. Thank you for your music, stories and the memory.
Many years ago I attended a Neil Young concert at the Jubilee Auditorium here in Edmonton Alberta Canada. It was a bitterly cold night, about -30 below. I remember he refused to play when he came out on stage until they turned up the house lights so he could see the audience. He told the stage hands in the wings that if he couldn't see the audience it might as well be an empty theatre with a sound system playing people clapping. Just Neil Young, a guitar or two, and a piano. It was not so much of a performance as a glimpse into who he was at that time. This was one of the songs he played that night. He claimed he had written on the plane on his way up from California. He explained that he had just gone through a messy divorce and moved out to his ranch that he had bought much as he does in this video. He admitted that at that point in his life he was at an emotional low and a hurting unit. He also told us that the song was about one night when he sat with his Foreman and they got drunk together. The Foreman didn't have much use for that long haired Hippy but as the alcohol took over their conversation turned to how life had worked out for each of them with it's lofty successes and it's heartbreaking lows and Neil realized that despite their differences in age and background, they weren't all that much different. Each had loved and lost and suffered for their loss. It was and is the best concert I have ever been to. He received over six standing ovations that night.........
Exactly the same story for me here with my Dad.... I can remember as a lil boy listening to this song and many others from the same era.... thank you Dad.... you taught me alot with a little and that means everything.... I love you Pops
My brother passed away at 27 ..Neil was his idol , this song holds both happy and sad memories of the last 7 years of his young life. To you in heaven Tony!!
Not 100% sure of what people are trying to tell you Blue Iris.... But I can guarantee you that I've seen the bottom of the barrel and this song cuts me up.... I'm guessing your brother topped himself like mine did after a life of vile abuse. Take care and love to you
I lost my Dad when I was a young teenager. Now every time I hear this song it reminds me of my Dad and how much I've become like him as I've gotten older. Sometimes I hope my old man is looking at my life and thinking I'm a lot like he was, and that he's proud of who I've become.
I’ve been listening to this song for exactly a decade now. I first discovered Neil Young when I was 24, and the lyrics immediately struck a chord with me, reminding me of my relationship with my dad. Ten years later, just last week, I had a heartfelt conversation with my dad, who’s 71 but physically feels much older due to a lifetime of struggles (long story). That talk made me realize he doesn’t have much time left, and this song hit me just as hard-if not harder-than it did back then. It’s been a tough road for him, dealing with his health and a lot of solitude, something I can relate to in my own way. This song brings back so many memories of my childhood with him, moments I now cherish even more deeply. I just needed to share this-it’s raw and real. Dad, I love you more than anything in this world. Always.
Never knew my father died when I was 6 weeks old. This song makes me think of him and how people say I act just like him. I'm a father now, and happy to watch my son grow up
That's great to read. My dad passed away when I was 21, still miss him a lot. Now, I have a seven your old son myself. And there will be a day he will be the old man, listening to this song and thinking of his old man.
Clint Holt I can so relate to this, lost my dad to cancer when I was 9, I have few memories of him and those are faint, I too grew up having people say how much I look, sound and act just like him. I'm now 55, took me 46 years to cry over losing him, this song, just wants to make me cry more.
Lost my grandpa two days ago. Weird I’m currently 24. He was an angry impatient and impossible man but always provided for his family and loved us the best he knew how. RIP GRANDPA I LOVE YOU!
$TVNTFAM.RECORDS our dead loved ones who’ve passed away may have been angry, impatient, and impossible, but once they are gone they are dead saints and can do no wrong. That’s how I felt about my first husband once gone and my dad too.
I was 12 when this song came out, and I asked my grandfather for 2 dollars to buy this (and "Heart Of Gold") 45 RPM records. I brought it home and he heard me playing it in my room on my little GE record player, and he kind of laughed and said "Boy, are you tryin to tell me sumpn?" Gramps has been gone a long time, I still miss him very much. No one loved me like he did, and no one taught me things like he did. Not even my dad.
As a kid I always used to tease my dad for listening to Neil Young (I thought it was old people music and we always had a laugh), found this song and 'Heart of Gold' when I was 20 and finally realised why he was listening all those years ago. Thanks Dad.
According to my nephews and nieces and their children I'm old (61), but I remember when I bought this album on the strength of this one song and I'm 15 again and always will be.
Margo Menson me too. This and Steppenwolf was my first. I'm 60 in a month. Man, I can never seem to leave the 70s behind. Life was so freakin cool back then. ALOT MORE FREEING TIME I THINK
I'm old too 57 . This music era changed my life.... I'm an official hippie and proud. My brother's ate 17-21 years older. This is how I was raised. My daughter 31 thinks I'm a cool azz Mom! She's now involved in permaculture. The new generation for what we need now! Love this!!
I lost my dad 5 years ago, and after a couple or weeks or so after he died, i stepped into this song in YT. It was the first time i heard it. And i started to cry through the entire song. Even knowing that maybe the song is not inspired in Neil's father, the lyrics hit me so hard. I'm a lot like my old man, and i miss him so much every day since he left.
Hey buddy your not alone. Lost my Dad at 18 years old from alcohol poising. 12 years ago now. Lost my Grandpa 2 years ago whom took my dads place. I can happily say I stuck by his side like he did mine and held his hand in the last seconds. This song hit me like how you say it got you. So happy that there is a song that can touch that pain because at times my mind can not even connect to the pain due to subconsciously blocking it. This song tears that wall down. The pain ironically feels great to feel strangely enough to say as it is to hear from someone who has not experienced.
Just buried "The Old Man" today with full military honors along with the Patriot Gaurd attending. I hear this song and it fills my entire soul with pride just thinking of him and all he's done and taught us "boys" about being a real man and what that means in his definition, I only hope I live up to the lessons he taught.... There will never be another one quite like him.
@@charlesrhoads399 and that has what to do with my old man passing? Who served in Vietnam and passed away on Indepence day? I was just stating the song makes me think of him. You have a right to your opinion though because of people like my old man. Think about it.
This was a time when the lyrics of a song had meaning and told a story. I first heard this song as a young man. I am now 72 and it is just as relevant when I heard it when I was 17.
back in the 90's I sang along to this song with my dad a couple hundred times, we liked the line, " doesn't mean that much to me to mean that much to you". good stuff Neil.
@flexor212000 It means a son is young and has his own horizons to look to, his own legacy to create. but a father may have come to the conclusion that his greatest legacy is his children, not what he chased in his own youth. It shows that Neil Young understands this poignant reality that exists between relatively normal fathers and sons.
this is more than good stuff. This makes me cry like a friggin kid every friggin time I listen to this over the years, just like the fisrt time. This is one of the more underraten rock and roll hyms of all time. More than good stuff for sure. No disrespect to your comment. Just wanna say this is huge man. We are talking about a major piece of art here

I am here listening to this on the night one of my best friends is about to pass from cancer. I am a 42 year old woman and he is a 58 year old man. I am crying listening to this while my heart says goodbye. Love you forever Peter Pete Ramsay. Godspeed. xxxxxxx
I remember buying this album on cassette and playing it in my car when I was 18 years old & thought I'll definately play it on my 24th Birthday ..... which I did . Now I'm 61 and love it just as much , it immediately sends me back in time to that summers day when I was 18 😊
Neil Young is one of the best musicians vocalist composer, and I've been listening to him since I was about 15 years old and I'm 51 now he still awesome!!!
I was reminded of this song today on Neil Young's 75th birthday. He wrote it when he was 24, and now he is like the old man in the song. Brilliant song!
How many times has this song played in the background of my life over six decades? It just really hit me. I became a Soldier like my Dad and even served one tour in the same position he did in Korea. He's 91 & just went into a veteran's home. This is the first time I really understood this song ... like skipping along the years watching Neil Young play those cords. Thanks Neil. Here's to you Dad.
What impresses me most about this is the quality of the audio production, it does not sound 50+ years old. Also I like the raw power bubbling up underneath young Neil’s voice and the sound of that Martin dreadnought is just massive.
Up until Covid . I played gigs (solo acoustic) in south Florida, and this was always in one of my sets. I first played "Old Man" back in 1972 when I only 24. And now I am still playing it , going on 74 , I finally really get it, after broken marriages, lost relationships, hard living, drinking , drugging, and more importantly a lot of serious reflection. I am now , that Old Man. Let's all try to be the best Old man we can be
I’m willing to bet that you’ve made an unimaginable number of people’s days, nights and life’s so much better through your music captainjohn51. “Ahh one look in your eye and you can tell that’s true.”
Very good Neil the song ia a hymn in a different genre it wakes us up to how life changes as we grow more appreciative each day and hope others can see thdy're right behind us. You did good on it in that Nashville studio clip too and Harvest Moon the whole video and your band talking in the limo telling their stories was good.
This was the last live show I saw before going to bootcamp in March of 73' age 19. I'm 70 now and I'm the Old man. How fast our lives come and go. I still feel the feelings I felt that night every time this song plays. Peace to you, all my brothers and sisters.

Most of the footage you see from vintage 70's television is in horribly poor condition. But the BBC has taken extremely good care of their footage. The quality of this video from 1971 is in such high quality condition that it looks like the show was just newly broadcast today!
I’ve been playing 55 years and had these Pink Floyd albums since the day they came out. I just took my entire guitar collection that I’ve collected my entire life and had a Bon fire 🔥 I give up this guy is king and I bow down.
"Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you." I'm not sure I ever heard that lyric clearly before, and hearing it really makes me wanna call my dad and just talk to him, hear his voice. I've still got time left with him here, I don't wanna see him go and worry about what wasn't said. I'm gonna call him.

YeahNo101 ? hey i wanted to share with you what Jesus Christ said, He said in matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” wow! and Jesus Christ loves YOU so much, i’m going to bring up these 3 scriptures
john 3:16-21:
“for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
romans 5:6-8:
“you see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
and romans 10:9-13:
“if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
so God wants to redeem and restore you! God bless you my friend accept Jesus Christ and He will give you true life here and in heaven and give it to you abundantly you His grace. amen 🙌

That sums it up. Why do we need producers, recording studios, and auto tune - to fill in where pure talent can go alone.

100% correct. He was authentic as hell. Grunge was too to a certain extent and wanted to mimic. You don't mimic Neil Young. Period!
I gotta say ur right
@@robinfrady5257 go 2 bed with your comparisons
Sad
He's a one man show, this is hard to pull off on a stage. One man with acoustic guitar owned the whole world, he gave you the energy of a whole band playing while in fact he's there all alone with his guitar.
He is quite grunge, you're right
Neil is a big model-train collector, and my Dad used to run into him at train shows and ask if he bought anything good. Neil would open his bag and show my Dad his new engine and they'd chat about it like it was no big deal. Just a legend showing my Dad his trains.
We used to joke that he'd sing to my Dad, "Old man take a look at my train, it's a lot like yours."
Sebastian Bach has the best model train collection

My dad left when I was 12 and I didn't see him again until 36 years later. It was a song that expressed the raw emotions I was feeling about my old man.
Age is just a number, you're only as old as you feel, never forget that. I'll be 30 next month but I feel like I'm 13 hah!

@DFS54 :O DID HE? Lucky bastard.
Great story Norman
Edmonton too! lol

One of the most perfect songs ever written.
I prefer Gold Digger....
Always.

I'm 71, an old hippie. Made me cry.
That's beautiful
@@gerryespinoza6826that’s just what real music does
Me too at 62 ✌️ from a nother old hippie...
I'm 71 and got liberated from HippiePotcracy.
You just wrote almost word for word what I said when my grandpa died this spring, I'm sorry for your loss
Can feel this.
Life is strange
My dad was the same way but I know he loved me and provided for us the best he could.
It's a shame a comment like this short story didn't get any likes. I got a like for you. :)
thanks now i have tears
Very touching story to add to a magnificent song.
Very touching story
Beautiful story mate. Reminds me of my grandfather :)
As a kid I always used to tease my dad for listening to Neil Young (I thought it was old people music and we always had a laugh), found this song and 'Heart of Gold' when I was 20 and finally realised why he was listening all those years ago. Thanks Dad.
Oh yes! This is, "Young poeple`s music".
That's funny I was the same lol..and yep..now it like ugh so awesome
@longrider Is!
Thats true, you realise when you get older just what real music and lyrics are.
disgusting

Love this!!
Im 33 and love this tune rock on wish i wasnt 33 young in this world today
Time/age it's a frame of mind
I lost my dad 5 years ago, and after a couple or weeks or so after he died, i stepped into this song in YT. It was the first time i heard it.
And i started to cry through the entire song. Even knowing that maybe the song is not inspired in Neil's father, the lyrics hit me so hard.
I'm a lot like my old man, and i miss him so much every day since he left.
That's sad. I like the song a lot too. Best regards
Lost my dad also 11 years ago. This was his favorite song. Hits me hard every time to. Hang in there brother.
Hang in there my man! Peace and love
That's what im afraid of is losing my dad
Just buried "The Old Man" today with full military honors along with the Patriot Gaurd attending. I hear this song and it fills my entire soul with pride just thinking of him and all he's done and taught us "boys" about being a real man and what that means in his definition, I only hope I live up to the lessons he taught.... There will never be another one quite like him.
Sorry for your loss Tommy
Respect to your old man. I’m sure he’s damn proud of you man
@tommy boy god bless!!
jsyk young hated the military and besides that he is a communist! most rock stars are. this guy has been a communist since the 60's
That's my favourite part of the lyrics too 😊👍
So your favorite line to sign with your dad essentially means "I don't give a shit if I mean anything to you or not..."
My favorite.
this is more than good stuff. This makes me cry like a friggin kid every friggin time I listen to this over the years, just like the fisrt time. This is one of the more underraten rock and roll hyms of all time. More than good stuff for sure. No disrespect to your comment. Just wanna say this is huge man. We are talking about a major piece of art here
Talent is a such a rare thing. Odd voice utterly unique utterly compelling. He'd get laughed at the moment he started singing on those so called Talent shows like AGT. Yet his timeless brilliance has rarely been matched.
Not to mention the “one note guitar solo” he invented… everything NOT by the book, yet brilliant!
Me too ! 65y.
He match(Crosby, steels),?????
I am here listening to this on the night one of my best friends is about to pass from cancer. I am a 42 year old woman and he is a 58 year old man. I am crying listening to this while my heart says goodbye. Love you forever Peter Pete Ramsay. Godspeed. xxxxxxx
My deepest condolences! I really wish your friend is still alive till today.
Rick C.
same here, sound track to my life
Well I am 63 and I agree, one of the best ever
The melody on “like a coin that won’t get tossed” does something to me every time I hear it. So pretty 😩
Yeah its amazing isnt it?
Good music to be in 40tine. It give me peace 😷✌🎶
Same. I can feel the blood drain from my face. That’s my visceral reaction.
OMG me too. Something about it. Magic!
Q
I was reminded of this song today on Neil Young's 75th birthday. He wrote it when he was 24, and now he is like the old man in the song. Brilliant song!
How many times has this song played in the background of my life over six decades? It just really hit me. I became a Soldier like my Dad and even served one tour in the same position he did in Korea. He's 91 & just went into a veteran's home. This is the first time I really understood this song ... like skipping along the years watching Neil Young play those cords. Thanks Neil. Here's to you Dad.
I was young and this came over the radio, I guess I was 19 or so and now I'm 68, man how time flies and this song means a whole lot more nowadays.
Ditto ☮️
What impresses me most about this is the quality of the audio production, it does not sound 50+ years old. Also I like the raw power bubbling up underneath young Neil’s voice and the sound of that Martin dreadnought is just massive.
Ya now that you mention it, that is so true. It’s so crystal clear. Sounds very modern.
Let's all try to be the best Old man we can be
Keep on keepin' on brother. We've only got 1 life to live.
I don't know you...but I know you are a good man. Blessings brother 🙏😌💯
“Let’s Al try to be the best old man that we can be”
Hell yeah dude.
This was the last live show I saw before going to bootcamp in March of 73' age 19. I'm 70 now and I'm the Old man. How fast our lives come and go. I still feel the feelings I felt that night every time this song plays. Peace to you, all my brothers and sisters.
11 years old in 1971, now I am that old man. This song grabbed me then, even more now.
How the 🤬 do you consider yourself old? 58 ain't old.
You're old when you can't do anything anymore.
🏃Go do something....
🗣️👤 you believe that guy saying he's old at 58. WTF
me too mr. bob woods!
Jeff Bingaman maybe he does have problems. 58 isn’t old for you
The genius of Neil Young is to be able to see that much in a person at age 24 and put it so succinctly in such beautiful poetry.
18 in 1971-- I know what you mean
Words cannot describe how Great this man is!! Neil's music is just Awesome!! I've been a fan since the sixties!!
I'm a self described "Young Head", since the sixties, also!
Cool!
A flawless performance. Perfect. Not many musicians can pull this off, past or present.
James Dixon couldn’t agree more absolutely flawless
Unbelievable... He sounds like a room full of people singing and playing guitar i have no idea how he pulls that off
Not many but Aaron lewis. And Chris Cornell definitely can
I agree 💯
Prince can and did
That is one BRILLIANT song.❤
Hello, how are you today? It’s nice to meet you on here.
Just discovered this song for the first time, and wouldn’t you know I’m 24… what a brilliant song. Terrific voice, and superb lyrics!
Same brother! Much love
Niel was a God
@@tmillz120 Still is in the same league "God".
keep looking brother-many more where this come from
Enjoy! It goes quick!! I'll be 39 tomorrow and remember listening to this at your age 💙
Most of the footage you see from vintage 70's television is in horribly poor condition. But the BBC has taken extremely good care of their footage. The quality of this video from 1971 is in such high quality condition that it looks like the show was just newly broadcast today!
Gary Dunn
Looks AND sounds. Great mic on the vocals.
I am that old man now , who would have thought it..
Look at how the time goes past
Alphonse Gabriel
i'm a lot like you where
Lol! I was thinking the same thing about myself
im only 20 but i can feel ya, old man im alot like you were, love you dad
I’ve been playing 55 years and had these Pink Floyd albums since the day they came out. I just took my entire guitar collection that I’ve collected my entire life and had a Bon fire 🔥 I give up this guy is king and I bow down.
"Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you."
I'm not sure I ever heard that lyric clearly before, and hearing it really makes me wanna call my dad and just talk to him, hear his voice.
I've still got time left with him here, I don't wanna see him go and worry about what wasn't said.
I'm gonna call him.
Call him
Ya call him mate. dont wait another day brotha!!
I call my parents almost every day. The older i get, the more i realize how impermanent things are...and also how lucky i was to be born of such great parents
@@holezzz15 Call him. I lost my father, my best friend in 2019. I keep his picture on my wall and I still dream of him sometimes and wake up thinking that he is still alive. We were very close. He never judged me harshly and always was there for me. Best father a person could ever have. He was a simple man with simple tastes. He never berated me for my mistakes and was kind and forgiving to me. He let me live my life and did not try to live his own dreams and desires through me. I tried to be a good son. I will live out my life well and raise my own children, and enjoy my days on this earth, and then when my time comes, I know he will be there waiting for me and we will again meet with big hugs, and big smiles. No doubt in my mind. Until we meet again, Father.
Yes, do it. When my father died a lot was not said... That was for almost 40 years
