  • In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1986 Buick Century Limited. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Those old column-mounted gear shifters beat modern floor shifters by a landslide. IMHO, they are much more convenient since they are right in front of you.

Man I LOVE the 80's Centuries. I love the dash design. Our old Mechanic used to drive a 1989, it was in horrible cosmetic shape, but he kept it running like new. It had over 300,000 miles when he got rid of it.

Thanks Kyle for these (nowadays at least) odd cars. It brings back tons of memories, because in the eighties it appeared that every second car was this type or its GM siblings. The Chevy Celebrity, the Olds Cutlass and the Pontiac 6000. Each one had their stylistic personality, they were quite popular in their segment and thus they held back the import invasion for awhile quite well.

The exhaust sound on these was very cool. My aunt had a Berreta that had the V-6 and it always sounded bigger than it was.

This brings back memories for me. I had an 89 Century Limited for a while in high school. It was a nice car, ran great. I got it from an elderly relative and it only had 33,000 original miles back in 2006. I sold it a year later for a 99 Cougar. Century's are pretty good cars. Not real flashy or anything really ground breaking but still good dependable cars.

We had one of those! 87. loved it. my mother was in 2 huge accidents involving a produce truck and an 18 wheeler, and that thing held its ground. She had to have shoulder surgery, but that's a lot better than being dead.

We had a 1984 Century, Los Angeles Olympics Edition, with all the bells and whistles. From 1989 to 1995. It was the car that got me to and from college. It had the 2 barrel Dualjet carb and a little 3.0 V6. Super good ride.

My first car. Dad bought it from the salvage yard and fixed it up. Drove it till I was about 20. Started 1st time, every time, in the South Dakota winters. I trusted Buick so much, my "upgrade" was to a '96 Skylark.

This one has one of the best exhaust notes I've heard. Sounds like a GM New Look bus with Detriot 6V71. Both products of the General as it happens.

@@johnaldrich2074 I had a 1990 with the 3.1. They were more or less the same engine but the 3.1 had a little more guts behind the grunt. The 2.8 had a nice heavy/hammer type sound, but when you actually tried to lay into it, it ran out of steam very quickly.

I think mine was a 1987. Everything was the exact same as that car. It was my first car after I graduated high school. I paid $860 for it. Never had any issues with it until I bought another car. I sold it to a guy who abused it and the transmission lost its forward gear and could only go in reverse. That car was super comfy. Paint was fading just like that one. All the older people I knew at the time, made a big deal about the "Body by Fisher" sticker on the car lol. Had a cassette adapter that allowed me to play my cd player through the stereo.

In my opinion, this is back when GM actually cared about the products they produced. Everything is all plastic now...you almost never see cloth on the door panels, or comfy seats like those. And when you did this video, the car was 25 years old. You have to admit, it's in decent shape for its age. Give it a new dash panel and some clear coat and she'd shine like the day she came off the assembly line. I wonder if it's even still going to this day.

God, that thing sounds sooo mean! I love the sound of the older GM V6's and have since I was a kid. I had an '88 Century Custom as my 2nd car. It was similar to this, but it wasn't anywhere near as loaded and it had the 2.5 "Iron Duke" 4 Cylinder in it. It leaked Power Steering fluid pretty bad, but it was still a good car. Wish it would have had the V6, though.

Funny because I own a 90 that I bought for $400 like this one but with tricked- out flip flop colors changed from black metallic with sparkles in the day to grey, black, flat grey or flat black at night, its a 4cylinder that only needed 1 fuel injector a pretty simple job, had 89k in 2011, was smooth on the way home while I drove as my sister pulled the car and nearly tore out an engine cradle bushing with our mom's truck! It has 147k miles now yet I've only driven it for 7 months on off between I and my sister, then she kept it for her daily commute, later I and my sister got different vehicles 2012, 2014. the buick sat from 2014 till 4/25/2016 still starts like butter lol now my cousin will be driving it, she says half a year but idk it's sentimental value to me now as it has always been, I jus want it back so I can truly give it a run for the money that I put into it! pun attended :-)

And for 75K mileS (I bet on 175, or maybe even on 275K miles), it could be better, but its showing to be a good warrior.
