The Impala SS was not a luxury vehicle, it was meant to emulate the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's in a more modern/practical way without sacrificing any of the brute muscle car performance.
I never was too much of a fan of the Grey Green Metallic in the past, but I have to say, it does have a ghostly vibe about it. And it's a pretty unique shade compared to what comes from the factory today. I'd be happy with it.
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Alexander Kairo thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Great video... I was 16 in 1996 and I remember back then It was sometime in the fall of 1996 octoberish in Massachusetts on Cape Cod. It was about night-time and a close friend had called me up and pulled up in one of these things.SO...he opened the back trunk and saw two moderately sized Nitrous Oxide tanks. We hit the highway down route 6 and literally blew threw 2nd-3rd and 4rth gear in a few seconds.(Stock- Not a muscle car feel ),BUT With a 5Speed & Nitrous A ROCKETSHIP!
Damn! It's everything I wanted for MY dream Impala SS. As a once proud owner of a 1994 Caprice LT1 and member of "The Herd" Impala SS club, I would easily take this off your lot had I known about it.
What a car. Hey Chris, I'm in Chicago too and I have 95 SS with only 10,000 miles. Completely mint. I love that car. Love at first sight. You should buy it. You won't regret it.
My friend has one thats really nice. We hook our cars up good in Detroit. This has always been my dream car, I'll end up buying one some day. I plan on building a 70 Chevelle SS too.
1994 Impala ss a true American Classic you can enjoy and not lose money felling you get behind the wheel is like a drug and very addicting beware once you drive one your hooked for life and there is no rehab for car addiction
Your wife wouldn't "let" you buy your dream car? Unless its her money, I don't see where you need her permission to begin with. The 96 Impala SS is one of my big wants as well, shame that you missed out on this one.
That is a very powerful car!!! Crown Vic police squat cars will not catch this one during a chase. I'm not a big fan of Chevy or GM cars, but I have no choice but to give this particular car props. It's beautiful and sleek!!! It's just too bad Impalas aren't made like this anymore!!!!
I turned 16 in 1995 too lol. That's when I got my permit & then my Jr license about a month later. I already had my first car before I got my permit, so as soon as I got my Jr license I was driving on my own. I was one of the oldest in my class too, so I was the only Sophomore who had a license & was driving his own car to school lol. Good memories. Anyway, nice SS!! I always liked these cars.
I am original owner of a 1996 Impa ss. I am female, grew up with 60’s muscle cars, I saw this car and immediately bought it when console shifter was added. I am now age 72, still hot-Rodding , a little. I do not want to hurt my baby.. I did replace the driver side door mirror, since I broke mine. I got a new after market one and of course the original black shade, #5585, matched perfectly, as the car is a garage dweller. She has 27, 700 miles on her now. I drive her around residential areas, and a bit on the faster speed parkway near me, juts to keep things in working order. My husband bought it,but he is banned from it as a driver-too rough on it. I would not say that this car was a gift of love, but a mistaken statement was the real reason. My husband said he would buy one if they made it with a console shifter, so in 1996 the shifter was added, so he had to buy it!!!! I am still in love with mine, everyone wants to buy it, sorry, no sale!!
even though i don't like this car, i share passion for cars and dreams, it was really evident how you love it, so i wish you get your dream of owning one come true someday.
Quit being a snob; yes the E39 M5 is a great performance sedan (used to drive a E46 M3, LOVED it.) But with anything, its different strokes for different folks. If you're a TRUE car enthusiast, you wouldn't be knocking the Impala SS unless you've got some self-esteem issues lmao. Both are great cars; I'd consider myself a BMW enthusiast (family owns 4 at the moment, but went through at least 10 in the last 10 years), and we're really looking into buying the 96 Impala. Classic and elegant.
Agree. Have owned two E36 Ms which I loved and were my dailys. Race cars from the factory. But the Impala SS is a perfomance sedan of the American muscle variety and as a daily it actually makes me smile more than the M3. Install 3.73s, a custom exhaust, performance tune, cold air intake and brake proportioning valve and you have a hell of a 4300 pound performance sedan that is an amazing highway cruiser. Mine has been to Canada twice, upstate New York and on other long trips and it's a joy to drive around town and long distances.
My 94 9C1 keeps up with a 08 Civic Si in the twisties, it's just a bit hard to manage with all that weight and torque. Is it a M3? No. Can it corner? Yes. Everyone that says it can't is making a broad stereotype of murca and/or has never driven one. Yeah, it's a little low on power. A $50 mail order tune can have it sitting with the Camaro/Corvette power levels, and besides that, the LT1 engine has the ability to make 350+ in stock configuration, with levels of 450+ achievable. Any real car guy would realize this drivetrain/suspension package has the aftermarket support comparable to the Mustang and the M3. I don't really care if you hate it, but at least drive it before you call it a pile of horse shit.
Agree. I have owned two E36 BMW M3s and I do own a heavily performance modded 06 Mustang GT. All great cars. I own a 96 Impala SS DCM as my daily driver and somehow I enjoy driving it more than the others. It brakes far better than my Mustang and nearly as well as an E36 M3 and that is saying something for a car as big as the Impala. Acceleration and reliability are great. It handles much better than you would think but John Moss upgraded the springs, sway bars, suspension and wheels and he nailed it. I swapped out the 3.08 gears for 3.73s , added a custom exhaust and a race tune for my PCM. Love the looks, ride, performance and reliability of my 96 SS and will drive it until the wheels fall off!
The only three cars my dad he would ever get in his life that he actually likes is a 1996 Impala SS, 1995 Volkswagen Golf, and 2004 Audi 4 door sedan.... but shit no wonder he would want this car its everything you can possily want comfort attached with a 260 HP V8...its everything in one car
@RoundenBrown the third brake light only comes on when you press the brake, the car was of course in park when he started it so therefore he was not pressing on the brake and that's why you did not see it come on.

yea i understand your logic, i broke the front underbody protection on my 530i and BMW quoted me $400 :/ a bit steep for a piece of plastic. but everyone i know with a chevy or ford has no complaints and love their reliability. crown vic's are supremely comfortable from my experiences as well
I am restoring a '96 LS same green/gray - btw - the cloth interior is much more comfortable than your vinyl seats ... and mine gets 26 mpg with the 4.3L L99 motor ... 610 miles on a tank ... the Trunk is 20.4 cu ft.
With Chicago weather, it's going to happen, plus snow. That car was meant to be driven anyway. I'm surprise the other 2 owners didn't drive it as much. But hey, it was cleaned up afterwards.
Chris, this is the latest chapter of our long running debate between American and European cars.....so far the Europeans are winning and the Impala is the last car I thought you would pull out. Im hoping you would take stock of another Lotus Exige S and do a test drive
green is not my.... but the car is amazing. i know this video is old, but it speaks true to my caprice station with the lt1. Love it! Greetings from germany!
@blackberryboldjeff donks are the 70's models caprice and impalas. you referring to the bubble chevy b/c of the b-body platform. i dont mean to offend and i also agree. stock is beautiful
@Kibblesforme123 Don't underestimate the power of that car my friend. I saw a video of police in Ford Crown Vic squat cars chasing a similar Impala SS. The police, nor the helicopter were able to catch up to the Impala, putting the police force and Ford in utter shame. You might just have a different opinion once you see that police chase. Look up "Impala SS police chase" on UA-cam. That car is a Beast.
@demoskunk These cars are actually very fast even by todays standards considering its size. They didn't have any kind of speed governor so they could easily hit 140+
I've never been in a Police car to I just have a great memory from watching Cops and all the different Ford and Chevrolet interiors. Really? Rewind "You did omit that line didn't you"?
LuxKadafi The same LT1 in the Camaro Z28 of that year was only rated at 275 HP. It was bumped up to 285 HP for the final year of the LT1 in 1997. The highest the LT1 was rated at was 300 HP / 330 LBFT in the C4 Corvette. Torque is where it's at with these LT1 motors. This baby has 330 LBFT @ only 3200 rpm to go along with that 260 HP. If you like torque lol, this is the car to have. 260 HP was pretty good back in the 90's. Even today it's not that bad considering all the economy cars being produced these days. This Impala SS still had 20 more HP than a supercharged Grand Prix GTP.
some cases. Someone is selling me a 96 impala for 14k with ONLY 18k miles. Very good deal. Im working it out right now. that's another advantage, they HOLD THEIR VALUE. take care man.

@Kibblesforme123 how's that sad? they had to limit the horsepower or it would have been as much as the camaro. And it has 330ftlbs of torque, there's alot of new cars of the same class that don't have that kind of power, n this was back in 94-96.
@magooeystyla it only looks cheap when its not real. i went to a local junk yard and there were 3 1964 impala's, from a distance they all looked 100 intacked besides usual rust. when i closer, the only thing that was actually good on thrn was the chrome. looked brand new.
@235chuck THANK YOU, somebody finally said it. It is absolutely RIDICULIOUS to drive a collectors item like this with 5000 miles in the rain and I also might add lock themselves in the trunk.
@rrrtripler I;m 23 years old and went to Texas last year for a vacation and saw a handful of Impala SS's...all painted either candy purple, red or pink with those stupid giant rims. A "Donk" s the correct term. They must have "Donked" there head when they were a kid to ruin such a beautiful piece of American muscle
The Impala SS was not a luxury vehicle, it was meant to emulate the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's in a more modern/practical way without sacrificing any of the brute muscle car performance.
had my 96 impala ss for 1 week and I'm in love
va 86 mc ss Does that mean you’re gay
You are looky man. Congrats. I love that car. Enjoy if you yet own the impala.
To me that color is more rare than the black or burgundy
EL GEE it may be the most common but still a fan of the black by far
I would say the factory white/gray
one is the rarest out of all the other colors of green, burgundy, and black from 94'-96' model years!
I love any tricks you can offer me
@Bruce Denver Instablaster =)
@Alexander Kairo thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Alexander Kairo it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out !
@Bruce Denver You are welcome :)

What a beautiful design! I'd love to drive one of those.
You consider the "upside down bathtub" a "beautiful design?" Have you seen an optometrist lately?
Damn! It's everything I wanted for MY dream Impala SS. As a once proud owner of a 1994 Caprice LT1 and member of "The Herd" Impala SS club, I would easily take this off your lot had I known about it.

It's awesome how, in '96 260hp was SS worthy and now a base V6 in Camaro is 323... progress is awesome!
1994 Impala ss a true American Classic you can enjoy and not lose money felling you get behind the wheel is like a drug and very addicting beware once you drive one your hooked for life and there is no rehab for car addiction

I'm usually not a fan of large sedans, American or otherwise, but this generation Impala has always been a special car for me. Gorgeous example here.
I put this car in the "Darth Vader" category along with the GNX/Grand National, Typhoon,Syclone and Maurader
Great video as always!
Quit being a snob; yes the E39 M5 is a great performance sedan (used to drive a E46 M3, LOVED it.) But with anything, its different strokes for different folks. Conheci o canal por acaso, bom trabalho, gostei muito de tudo o que vi, Parabéns e bom trabalho !
I just bought a 2004 Chevy Impala ss (fwd 3.8 supercharged) and I love it my dad has a 1996 and my brother has a 09 impala ss with the 5.3

that's new one wow . love that car so much
Why did you take the vid with the 500hp impala down. Could you please put it back up?
Was looking to buy a caddy or chevy impala ss and decided to get this car for sure. Love or hate this car but its raw azz hell.
yea i understand your logic, i broke the front underbody protection on my 530i and BMW quoted me $400 :/ a bit steep for a piece of plastic.
but everyone i know with a chevy or ford has no complaints and love their reliability. crown vic's are supremely comfortable from my experiences as well
With all respect brother . Buy the Impala and don't wait for opinions . This car won't let you down 😎😉
I am restoring a '96 LS same green/gray - btw - the cloth interior is much more comfortable than your vinyl seats ... and mine gets 26 mpg with the 4.3L L99 motor ... 610 miles on a tank ... the Trunk is 20.4 cu ft.
8:50 mans bout to cry b. shuda slapped his wife
hahaahahah yes!
Completely agreed!!
@92ASC true. this car has plenty of acceleration. still more than most cars on the road today, actually.
260 hp out of 5.7l. that is quality engineering right there^^
Correct me if im wrong but the1994-1996 Impala SS's the only GM vehicles from those three years that are still holding any kind of value right???
In the rain? :(
i probably first saw this car when i was 5 or 6, to this day i still want to own one(:
my fav car ever .. love you impala ss 96
im sure your stoked for the 2014 chevy ss. Bringin back the ole' RWD muscle car. And a 6.2 V8. HOLY SHITTT I WANT ONE!
why are u driving it in the rain?
This brings back memories of my 93 SHO
With Chicago weather, it's going to happen, plus snow. That car was meant to be driven anyway. I'm surprise the other 2 owners didn't drive it as much. But hey, it was cleaned up afterwards.
Is it still available ? I’m a buyer
Love it! Greetings from germany!
good sound from youtube+good reviews from auto trader+reasonable price on an engineer's salary = MINE, MINE, MINE!
This is my first car! I F'kin love it. Its identical to this but the paint is a little darker on mine, maybe age? And 70,000 miles
This Chevy Impala is definitely in Good Condition just like it came out of the Factory
So let me get this straight, 5000 miles on the dash & u decided to take a joy ride in the rain 🤔
hey chris which was your first car review that you posted on youtube?
@blackberryboldjeff donks are the 70's models caprice and impalas. you referring to the bubble chevy b/c of the b-body platform. i dont mean to offend and i also agree. stock is beautiful
it has like 400 pound feet of torque thats where most of the powers at of da line impalas get up like hell
Agree. Then add 3.73s and a performance tune, CAI, brake proportioning valve and custom exhaust and you're good to go!
@neploxojxxx that is RATED horse power. Every car has a certain way to rate power. The thing is it can be modded to 400+.
I love these cars & still 1 of my dream cars! #AmericanClassic & #AmericanMuscle
I hate the fact that the tiresize is really hard to find these days.. Im looking for a new set in the futere but I dont know what size to get.
@demoskunk These cars are actually very fast even by todays standards considering its size. They didn't have any kind of speed governor so they could easily hit 140+
I've never been in a Police car to I just have a great memory from watching Cops and all the different Ford and Chevrolet interiors.
Really? Rewind "You did omit that line didn't you"?
i wanna a 96 impala but in mexico was not sold , i need to seek one to san antonio tx
god i cant believe i sold mine :( i want another one so bad
5.7l and only 260hp?
A lot of power at the time.
You have to drive one feels like alot more
LuxKadafi 330 lb ft of torque. That's what gives it it's grunt.
LuxKadafi
The same LT1 in the Camaro Z28 of that year was only rated at 275 HP. This Impala SS still had 20 more HP than a supercharged Grand Prix GTP.
+Bmackins94 Yeah, but still. You can get 260 from a 3.0.
some cases. Someone is selling me a 96 impala for 14k with ONLY 18k miles. Very good deal. Im working it out right now. that's another advantage, they HOLD THEIR VALUE. take care man.
this cars badass. I wouldn't mind owning one too
i like the 96 Impala Too..great car.
How much do you guys think one of these costs ??
I'd choose this car over any today.
ohhhhh man i just love this car
Is this car reliable and is it good for daily?
does still this car to sale or yet sold?
صراحة عندي مثله
بس ما توقعت انها 260 حصان
توقتها اكثر بكثير
260 قليلة على هذا الصاروخ
My first accident was staring at one of these driving, speeding ticket racing one. If I had one none that would have happen.
that car is cherry. My dad would chew you out for driving it in the rain. The only thing i disliked about the 94 95 96 impala was it didn't follow the chrome standards like the 64. It should have come with more chrome than the caprice. My family own's 3 1994 caprices two 93's one being an LS sedan and one being a woody wagon, and i personally have an 92 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser.
why aren’t same these car nowadays?
what a fuckin beauty
@Kibblesforme123 But a shitload of torque, and its stock. Dont forget it was a mid 20k dollar car, it wasnt outrageously expensive so you got a lot of engine at a good price. With a little tweaking you could easily reach 350+HP
Looks pretty good in green but I'd still prefer the black so it can match with my 01 Silverado
@Kibblesforme123 how's that sad? they had to limit the horsepower or it would have been as much as the camaro. And it has 330ftlbs of torque, there's alot of new cars of the same class that don't have that kind of power, n this was back in 94-96.
@chicagocarsdirect how much did it go for?
is the car still available ?
I want, I want, I want this car.
Very clean
nice car
i always liked one of these in black
I remember the Commercials...." the NEW 96 Impala...comes in three colours...Black...Black...or....Black." :)
Thats beauty.The dreamcar.Hope I will..
It also doesn’t have a 5.3 out of a Silverado completely different engine once front wheel drive and ones rear wheel drive
On my second one had this green one got a black one now.
beautiful car
@magooeystyla it only looks cheap when its not real. i went to a local junk yard and there were 3 1964 impala's, from a distance they all looked 100 intacked besides usual rust. when i closer, the only thing that was actually good on thrn was the chrome. looked brand new.
@235chuck THANK YOU, somebody finally said it. It is absolutely RIDICULIOUS to drive a collectors item like this with 5000 miles in the rain and I also might add lock themselves in the trunk.
No electric car will have this much character.
2 of them g thangs running strong
thnx u im a chevy fanatic
Top 5 Cars ever made.
@rrrtripler
I;m 23 years old and went to Texas last year for a vacation and saw a handful of Impala SS's...all painted either candy purple, red or pink with those stupid giant rims. A "Donk" s the correct term. They must have "Donked" there head when they were a kid to ruin such a beautiful piece of American muscle
