    We have been having problems with this as well. Motherboard, now the gas valve! I’m dreaming about gas water heaters!! My youngest daughter went to a Technical High School, and plumbing and electrical were two of a few trades taught! I told her to snag one of her old plumber classmates, we can use one!! 😂. Great Videos! Thank You!!

    For the last couple years, my Rheem has been shutting down with 7 flashes at random intervals, usually a few weeks or a few months apart. I just set it back to pilot, relight, and within a few minutes after relight the 7 flashes goes away and I'm all set for another few weeks or up to a few months. It's happened probably about 10 times over the last couple years. I've been trying to figure out a cause (wind, rain, snow, dirty screen, etc) but so far I haven't found any correlations. Any ideas?

      So there’s a reset procedure you can try if you if you’re able to get it to light up in the main burner comes on just put it on high temp the hottest temperature very hot for 15 seconds then hot for 15 seconds then pilot for 15 seconds, and that should clear it outI mean you might have to do that every few months. Sounds like somethings going on with the Circuit Board because if it was really a bad valve, the valve wouldn’t work at all.

    did let the air out of the gas flex before lighting the pilot?

    Hey it's the motherboard I had the same problem with my Bradford White water

    Mine is flashing 7 times. I can reset it and it works normally for a little bit then fails again. I have to reset it a few times to get a full tank of hot water. The pilot doesn't shut off until I turn it off to reset it. The manufacturer sent out a replacement valve which I installed and same issue. They also sent a replacement temperature sensor which I haven't installed yet. Can a faulty temperature sensor cause gas control valve fault?

      I’ve never seen it, but yeah, pretty much. Anything can cause anything when it comes to those Honeywell Valve ‘s I would try replacing the circuitboard for sure and check your gas supply. Make sure you got the right volume of gas going to the Valve. I know you didn’t have any problems in the past, but it’s winter now and that might be screwing with the gas pressure check your Thermo Pile voltage as well. Make sure that you have an adequate amount that’s over 400 mV you get about 100 Milla volts drop when the valve is in operation FYI.

      Make incremental changes just change one thing and then try it and wait a day so that way you can narrow down what it is it might take a few days. Usually you’ll get a five flash or a code 5335 Hass to do with the water temperature 678 and nine have to do with the Burner Assembly and the Valve. I believe you can measure the gas pressure with a manometer. You could try increasing the gas line size up to 7/8 of an inch if it’s that half inch if it’s at three eights definitely change it that’s the flex line going to the water heater. If it’s hard piped you could try changing that also think about adding a sediment trap if there is non-cause sediment from an older house as piping system, can get into the valve and screw them up Especially if there’s a lot of work being done on your house or if the gas is being turned on and off a lot that sediment will break free. It’s very small like the size of a grain of sand. Hope some of this information helps you out.

      Or the temperature sensor you’re talking about is probably a chamber sensor I’m thinking is it a Rheem? Because they always send that because the valve comes with the water temperature sensor which is called a Thermister but if you had a chamber sensor issue which could be cause I’ve seen code 7 jump to code, nines and code. 9‘s jump to code 7 not a bad idea to replace it, kind of a pain in the butt. Don’t worry if you rip the gasket. Yes it’s good to have new gaskets on there sure but it’s not critical to seal it down. Good avoid RTV sealant if possible you don’t wanna get involved with that.

    What if you only change the motherboard and not the valve?

    • @thewaterheaterfactory
      @thewaterheaterfactory  Рік тому

      You can do that , I've done it , sometimes its the motherboard that's the issue , trial and error.

      You need to replace the valve , if its less then 6 years old call the manufacturer they may send you a replacement valve for free!

    Because 7 flash's main electronics failed that means board not gas valve
