Mine did the same thing. Seen a video about it and after driving to Menards in the middle of the night to get a new thermocouple which didn't fix it, I removed the sensor, and it has worked fine for a year now.

I’m pissed though, because the only way to get the thermocouple to make contact…no matter how much I tightened it, was to wrap a wire around the control box to hold the thermocouple in place…forcing contact. I shouldn’t be having to take these jerry rigged measures on a 3 year old water heater
I took a t50 staple and connected those two wires on that plastic piece on top of the thermocouple. Great to temporarily use the heater. As long as the pilot stays lit your good.when my new one arrives I'm going try and splice the new one in instead of replacing the valve assembly
Great tip on how to temporarily fix it but don’t try to splice on the new “sensor” because the actual sensor is internal to the valve. Unfortunately you need to replace the entire thing.

Not too useful without showing how and what was put back together!? Did the "fuse/sensor?" get reinstalled, if so, how? How is it removed in the first place?
I called and they said I had to replace the valve. But they don’t have the valve and I need to call around and find one. Wish I could just replace the damn fuse/sensor and save 400+ bucks

My plumber pulled this trick on my water heater. Went bad yesterday. Their fix lasted about 6 months.

We tried the bypass and it didn’t work. Turns out the thermocoupler was bad.
That's why there is a brass connector between the copper and the sensor to prevent corrosion .
This Water heater has been a nightmare.....

I called customer service gave them my sr# and md# . New valve is in the mail. No questions no receipt.

Fuses are not sensors.
what does a fuse do. it senses a overload in a system and breaks so the system doesn't break. Key word Senses
