It is amazing to hear these tool bass covers. Makes you appreciate what justin brings to the band even more. And sometimes you see things that you didn't even realize were Justin's bass. Because you have not heard that from a bass before !!!
I am discovering that many of his bass covers are better than the bass tracks on the original versions. I watched him doing Megadeth's Peace Sells, and that has a very distinct bass sound, and his bass sound is better than Ellefson's. That sort of blew me away.
No tengo palabras. GLORIA ETERNA A TOOL!!!! 🎸❤❤❤❤❤❤
Holy shit man, bravo! This is my all time favorite song to play on bass. I started playing guitar very young and just recently (within the last 8 years) picked up a bass to mess around with recording some of my songs, and I just love what Justin did on this song. You absolutely nailed it man, I picked up some nuances that I missed.
Kello man your videos are awesome. Best covers i have ever seen and I love the fact your a finger style player too. I just cant get used to using a pick and i always felt at a loss trying to play in Justins style but you hit it right on the money.
Another monstruous cover. Congrats, man! I know it is annoying, but do covering Rosetta Stoned and/or Third Eye is on your mind? Those are my favorite tool's music and as your covers are remarkable, i would really enjoy to see you playing them :D
Awesome bass playing. Did you know that kello means clock, watch, bell etc in finnish :D I find that amusing because your playing goes like a clockwork!!
INSANE finger playing, I just bought a bass "played guitar for 9 years' and I can't for the life of me figure out this guys tone (like 1:45) is there light distortion or something? How do I remotely get that? Thanks :)
+bassL20 Muchas gracias!
As usual, perfect cover! Question: Do you run any compression? An issue I have in finger picking what’s normally played with a pick is fluctuating dynamics (I think that’s the right term). Too loud one strike, not loud enough on another, and so on. I’m wondering if compression would help minimize those drastic differences. Thanks man!
Compression could help, but not solve the issue. You need to practice to get your fingers to attack as consistent as possible. I do use slight compression on my chain at the beginning
Don't know if this will get a reply but what the heck. Just wanted to say you are an awesome bass player and I love your covers. And I was hoping to ask, do you think it is possible to achieve a Justin Chancellor tone without a Wal? It seems that practically every video I see of a Tool Cover has one and they manage to get that awesome growly sound out of it with ease. A Wal bass is way out of my budget and I want to be able to get that tone. Do you recommend just starting to save for that Wal or is there an alternative? Thank you for the awesome videos!
Thanks for your comments. To answer your question, you should be able to get that growl on a bass other than a Wal. You may need to get pedal that allows you to get that midrange to ring to emulate it (which should be more cost effective). It is also important to hit the strings strong so you get the harmonics for that tone. You may want to try using either a Tech21 VTBassDI or Darkglass B7k pedal, if possible try them out first. It is important you DON'T scoop the mids. I'll try to do a quick video on this.
+Kello Gonzalez Wow! Thank you so much man! And I look forward to that video. Once again keep up the good work on these videos and thank you for helping me out! So cool of you to reply!
I use Specter basses with a Sans Amp DI and you can get a very good tone with those that come pretty damned close to Justins Wall bass tone. Strings make a big difference too but that is subjective to every player. I use Roto Sounds and always have.
gregg4164 I've actually been recently checking out Specters and I'm hoping that I can wrangle one of them as my next bass. I've got a Sansamp coming in soon and my newest bass is a Sterling Stingray. It's got a very nice growl to it which I hope to add to with the Sansamp. I use rotos as well. What Specter model do you have specifically? They're killer.
Currently I have a Rex Brown 5 string model. It is actually my second one. I m looking into the N2 models also. Specter like Wall and some others do have a specific tone too their brand and I have always loved Specter basses ever since I heard Eddie Jackson from Queensryche.
Holy shit. Like I knew Chancellor was a god. I knew his bass parts were incredible. But the intricacies in this song don’t come out well apparently to my ear because this video is just insane. I hadn’t heard half of these parts and I wish I did because it’s sooooooooooo fucking insane
Don't get me wrong, it's clear they are a talented band and their bassist is clearly stellar but I've given a whole album a shot and it felt like it was one song.Kello Gonzalez
+Domenick boucher How curious! Because I get the feeling that from one album to another they sound totally different, with new techiniques and approach.
Domenick boucher You can't get Tool with "a shot", I've been listening to Tool for almost 10 years and I still discover new subtleties in their music. Don't negligently put a Tool album in your media player while you browse the internet pretending to listen to it. Listen to one or two songs once a day during a week and you'll be a fan soon. Schism, Stinkfist, Prison Sex or Sober are great songs to start with.
Buen video :3 Pregunta random ._.
One of Tool's greatest songs. It's melodic, complex, and deals with an issue that infects the whole human race. Amazing cover!
Most bassists: “you can't play this song without a pick.”
Kello: “hold my pick.”
🤘🏻☺️🤘🏻
It’s like you’re not even playing. It’s literally just Justin chancellor.
Literally flawless
Saw TOOL live in New Orleans '16. I drove all the way from California. They played The Grudge. My favorite song from Lateralus.
Some of Justin's best work. Hats off to you for making it your own as well
Thank you very much. Justin is definitely one of the greats 👊🏻

Dude, I prefer listening to this than the album version. Incredible.

Jesus came back playing bass...
Yes but this time is a Mexican Jesus hahaha

Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻☺️🤘🏻
You and TOOLbassplayer have the best TOOL covers!
Thank you. He does a great job indeed! 👊🏻
Damn brother, you cover all of the music that I love and grew up listening to! It gave me chills listening to this.
absolutely amazing perfomance

Thanks
I'm officially mindblown. Amazing cover!
Normally you would need a pick to get Justin's sound but not you, you freakin nailed it. Awesome cover!
Absolutely Incredible! That was awesome beyond words!
Yo my man
That was dope AF
Kudos bro
Thanks a lot 👊🏻
That's you? I thought it was the original track. Flawless.
+mkfanforever58 It's me over the original track. I tried to mix my bass loud enough to hear the difference...
+Kello Gonzalez I'm saying you're cover was so good to where I thought it was the original track. I know it's you :)
Kello...good job...!!!
So powerfull! Thanks for another great cover.
Yeah! So gorgeous!
wish i could hear these parts in the actual song. i had no idea about a number of these riffs
That was so sick!

Awesome! Greetings from Italy :)
Grazie!
Please do The Scheme by Primus!! You’re one of very few I would trust to cover it! 🔥
All hail JUSTIN.
Hah, those sophisticatedly hidden cuts in video :D But I don't see them as a disadvantage, your skill covers all. Great tone! We all wait for more :)
Man that punch is legit. Hard to do finger style. Respect.
Excellent..
Another monstruous cover. Congrats, man!

Amazing!
Nailed it.

Badass!
realy good air-bass!!! ;) !!!
Loving this cos I'm predominantly a fingerstyle player too. Prefer not to use a pick unless totally necessary.
Hemano usted toca muchísimo, mis respetos colega bajista. Algún consejo para alcanzar un tono similar?

What kind of rig do you use? That tone is absolutely fantastic, especially playing finger style. Awesome cover!
I use an Aguilar rig. The bass itself has a good growl. In some parts I add more using a VT Bass pedal
damn. you rock.
Finally someone who plays with their fingers no matter the circumstances
Gracias!
Me podrias decir que efectos/pedales usas amigo?
fvcking DIALED 🤘🤘
hello Kello, witch effect do you use ?
👏👏👏👌👌👌👌
Are you using a DD-3 or one of DDs? I can't seem to get my delay settings right for this song
Add some vocal to this one. ua-cam.com/video/6lIZ08Rtr7A/v-deo.html Thanks TOOL, and John Kew!
Is that a Wal? What model?

Puedes encontrarla en songsterr.com ;)
I think I have a crush...
Please teach me
🙌🏻
You mean the tablature I looked up in high school was wrong? Wtf? 😂
Can't really get into Tool, all their songs sound exactly alike :/
+Domenick boucher You might want to go to a doctor, it seems you're having a hearing problem.
Most non-standard music is acquired taste. You need to give it several spins for it to soak in.

I love your versions. I think Tool's basslines sound better "fingerstyle", but that's just my opinion.
Thank you 👊🏻

Pregunta random ._.
Vale papu gracias :3
