Oh man same btw how many basses do you have? I have 3 basses, one 6 string bass, one fretless bass and normal bass with frets i been playing almost year i know slap and tap.

Agreed. I've asked Kello about different methods and he has more often than not shared exactly how he played the track. His style is unique but he manages to nail the bass track and almost the exact tone.
Great fucking job on these, man. I'm a bassist myself and really appreciate people like, those who use the bass like a real instrument and not just as a back up.

What is absolutely *crazy* is the your fingers become wholly fluid @4:30 ... between the camera, bpm, and sheer talent, the fingers cease to exist and become a flowing element.

saw these guys live in Evansville Indiana few yrs back. guys were spent at the end of 2 solid hrs of playin. Justin is one of my fave bass players. he was soaked at the end of the show as all.of em.were. took my son he and I still compare not about the show.....opionion....if u get to see these guys in live show for God's sake do it...one awesome experience!!!!!!!!! you rule Maynard!!!!!!!!

Struggle President yeah, it usually creates this tingy fret buzzy sound... which is fine if you’re looking for that...
but yeah, Justin has a wal bass and it runs through 2 channels dirty and clean.. tha wal bass is pretty pick friendly... some basses juts sound horrible with a pick... but I suppose no matter what, with enough equipment you can make anything sound good...
Just a side note, I’m obsessed with Justin’s tone haha... it’s so gritty yet warm.. the low end is heavy as fuck, and the mids and highs punchy and twangy... but still low... it’s all about the wal bass

I have yet to see someone get that alternative riff around 1:12 played correctly.. Justin plays an open A after the hammer ons as well. Everyone covers it with just the open high D..
To be fair, the open A is incredibly hard to hear in the studio version of the song. I can only hear it clearly if I can isolate the bass track from the song itself.

I've watched a tutorial on how to play this by the man himself, Justin Chancellor. After watching this cover, it's fair to say that you have made this bass track your own with the different finger styles used, something Justin does not do as we all are aware that he uses a plectrum. I can agree with another comment on this channel, I have learnt how to use different styles and not be afraid to interpret tracks how I like to play them. Thanks Kello, see you in Arizona Bay 🤟

Giacomo Rinaldi its mostly the bass. It's how the pickups are wired. Each pole piece is wired to be basically it's own pre amp. That said, he is a fantastic bass player.

Tengo una duda: Para tocar el bajo usas la tenica que usa Geddy Lee? Usar las uñas de los dedos para que suene mas como una pua a pesar de que no estas tocando con una.
En este caso no, es plucking con los dedos. El chiste es darle con fuerza para darle el timbre correcto.
Wal le agrega ese sonido y tono característico a tool propiamente dicho que bacan (chido) que lo toques con los dedos lo cual demuestra que una púa no siempre es necesaria, saludos desde Perú
