you know, a bus should pick up people from residential areas to take them to somewhere and back again, you only seem to have bus stops at shops, schools, trainstations and hospitals.
These videos come out in the UK for me towards the end of my work day so I’m always so excited to get home and watch them after work. Love the slow, relaxed vibe! Really enjoying the series. Around a year ago I binge watched your previous Cities Skylines series, I’m happy you’ve gone back to it again and this time I can see it unfold in real time. :)

Instead of a hacky ploppable to raise land value, I have a few 1x1 parks so you can put them on corners. Some are just green with trees, some have more props.
I'm super hyped for the return of the time-lapses! The instant gratification monkey in me (a.k.a. ADHD lol) loves to see so much cool stuff get done so fast and it's always fun to hear the post-production commentary on the process too. I haven't played Cities in a while but this series is making me want to open it back up and lose a few weeks of my life to a new city.
Houses like those tightly packed ones are very similar to the terrace houses we have in the UK in uni areas for student housing, so it makes perfect sense if you are going to be putting the university near them!
I love the combination of regular gameplay mixed with speedbuild time. Really enjoy it.
don’t know if this has already been said but in settings you can set so trees are deleted once a road is placed rather than being hidden. If you have tree anarchy 1.3.5 you go into the mods settings, go on to the tree anarchy tab and select the behaviour when overlap occurs and select delete tree. I had the same issue of them coming back every time I loaded my game and this stopped it. It also helps you not hit the games tree limit if you don’t have the unlimited trees mod :)

i adore this series!! genuinely so relaxing and i look forward to them all the time. i love the uncut 1.5 hr long videos tbh, i’d love to watch them in a stream tho if you’d rather have shorter vids! looove it
The RICO mod i think if you click on a building you can override the level of the building so its not so high level. Also with move it mod i think it lets you reset buildings so if they become abdoned it will reset to normal one without you having to replace it
It's a separate mod called Advanced Building Level Control but it's often used with RICO bc of the same thing that's happening to James.
@@mklamklamkla RICO revisited has an option for buildings to simply ignore land values too. No idea if that's the RICO version he's using though.

It's nice to know that Woolworth's still lives on in Australia. It was a huge chain in the US for much of the early to mid 1900's. My grandmother called it the dime store. There was usually a Walgreens (drug store) right next door.
I've never played City Skylines, I'm a Tropico fan myself. But this looks fun and relaxing.
I love these for background while doing other work, it's so interesting glancing over to see so much progress. I love watching you play this game. Very peaceful.

I've seen someone using a mod called UnifiedUI for managing mods - puts them all in one handy collapsible window
He has it. He's just not using it. Network Multitool lives there and is way easier to get at than it being behind the road button.

I like the mix of time-lapse and play. You could use the play time more to fix problems and put in key things.
TMPE has a toggle in the settings called realistic parking that should lead to greater use of parking lots
James! I LOVE all of those large commercial assets you downloaded - are they all on the workshop? Coles and Woolies, Dan Murphys, Toys R Us, Officeworks! Yes! I need those for my cities yes please haha - have you added them to your workshop collection?
I also totally agree that carparks actually make a huge difference to the overall appearance of your city and make it look way more realistic. We have soooo much parking in our cities and it's so cool to see them in the game.
Also I like time-lapses especially for detailing and building placing so feel free to keep doing those 🙏🙌
i dont know if you have it enabled already but in the mod settings for TM:PE you can enable "realistic parking" which makes parking lots much cooler

It’s like going into a Tesco I’m afraid rather than our childhood memories of Woolies. When I say childhood memories I mean I can remember the pic’n’mix vividly and the toys but not much else!

I started on the same map around the same time as you and it's funny to see how your and my city are progressing diffrently.
Great pacing. Definitely enjoy the time lapse coming back for the super heavy detailing.
use the building lvl control mod than you can sed the lvl of the buildings to a lower lvl and dont have the low land flu complain
Hey! I'm a big fan of this series so far, and I actually quite liked the timelapse :) I love the longer episodes, but by adding a voiceover for the timelapse makes it so you don't have to watch the whole thing. A few of these sprinkled in work just great!

As someone in uni who lives in those terrace houses, it makes a lot of sense where u placed them so love that :)
buses should be used as legs out from train stations. Your yellow line really just follows the train line, id change that so buses go outwards from the train station.

2:00 - Oh my, I can soooooo relate to that. You start up CSL, and before you can start your game, you wonder what is in the workshop. At the end of the day you spend so much time there that you never actually get to play. I can't remember how many times "playing cities skylines" besically meant: Starting up the game, downloading some mods, and then shutting it down.
In New Zealand, we have Countdown, rather than Woolworths. Same supermarket, different name. Used to have Countdown, Woolworths and FoodTown, then Progressive Industries, the parent company behind them, made the decision to close a few stores, and rename others to make it simpler and more streamlined. This happened about 10 years ago (2011/2012).

That train station in Hawthorne needs to be elevated. You really want to aim for about 2% incline. 1.5% if you want to be super realistic.
And I'd say the station should probably have 4 tracks, as I bet you will have multiple lines stopping at that station as they converge downtown.
I love the contrast between Thanos snapping the world, but then spending all this energy desperately trying to placate the picky Shake Shack lolol

in those big box stores you can put small stores like gamestop and stuff like that in the side of them overlapping into the bigger store making it look like a strip mall on the side of the building

I just watched biffa's last video and he has a mode called level control which allow him to downgrade plopable building. Problem solved.
I get so excited when a new episode goes up but when I watch the video and see that it’s only 10-5 minutes left of it I get really sad. Then we wait a few days to do it all over again lol

That City is looking beautiful! What about expanding the highway to maybe do an inner city loop to help the general flow of traffic? You could take it near the most southern Train Station even :) Just an idea.
If you were a bank robber, you'd probably spend 45 minutes IN the building checking ALL the bills making sure they're not one backwards. XD
What James said about mods... Yeah sounds about right about me and sims 4 mods :c I have like 11GB of just s4 mods and I play on a laptop 😂
To add land value, you can eventually add in the post-office as that will increase the happiness/land value.

It's funny we've gone through the exact same thing, started watching enough $2.20 and Nerd to get back into it, and i'm 4500 assets deep with about 105 mods
I think a fun thing to do would be to turn the small bendy river area - across the main river, close to the big highway intersection - into a national park. It would be a good use for that area.
We have Kohl's here in the states but it sells clothing, Amazon stuff, make up, jewlery, ect. Woolworths? My god, they went out of business over 50 years ago here! I'm 54 and I don't really even remember them!
When you were building the train station (before the time lapse) I was talking to the tv saying “James please put in a bus station before anything else 😭”

YumblTV was a great youtuber that I've been watching as I get back into City Skylines. I watched you way back when the last time I was playing City Skylines too. Mods make the game feel so much better. I'd recommend checking up on the video YumblTV did on his mod package basically.
The City growing part is quick the laying out and building it out is the long game. UnityUI should have Node Controller packed in it's thing.

I know in the last video you said you wanted a mod to replace the roads on buildings like the ferries, and the network multitool actually has a function that does that - the little lock symbol lets you unlock the roads and then you can do whatever you want with them
You can add the Network Multitool button to the unified UI and remove it completely from behind the roads button. Also same goes for node controller and intersection marking tool.
