Front USB Problem - issue identified
Back ports are both OK
2:52 - Drive loses connection and then restores and continues data transfer. Once this occurs the behavior continues indefinitely and at times becomes increasingly worse.
7:20 - An example of what happens when the same drive problem occurs while you are in-game. It throws you out to the dashboard.
That dynamic power you're speaking off is for the AMD APU. Some have poor chip yields so more power is supplied like over clock to compensate.
Does anybody have issues with texture disappearing in forza or selling items to fence in rdr2 takes forever to load the “selling window”
I had the problem of the back ports Not working for an added ssd drive. It did work
in the front right port & it's there today! I'd like to directly run a USB pre-amp for my
headphones but I need someone who knows how to do it best?? Any Ideas??

All of my USB ports won't work. I use a fanatec racing wheel that plugs into the USB to connect and it seems like I never plugged anything in. Even with my phone charging cord, all the ports have no function and will not work. Any ideas?
I'd perform a system reset (with the option to keep games) and if it still happens then send it in for repair.
I’m having the same problem with the Fanatec pedals. Did you get it fixed?
I have used USB ports on the back & the front (mainly the front) with my Western Digital 4TB USB 3.0 drive with no issues since launch day& I have spent over 30-40hrs on it. Fingers crossed!
Leaves me wondering if it's an issue on all x consoles or if its related to specific external drives. Either way it doesn't explain why they work fine in the back USB ports? I'm getting a replacement from Microsoft in the next few weeks. Once I receive the new console I will report back on the behaviour of said console while using my turbo drives on the front USB port.
The front port keeps disconnectig my weird controller all the time.
Ok so I eventually received another Scorpio from Microsoft and the new one has fully functioning USB ports, front and both rears and all my drives work across the various connections. Unfortunately this one developed E101, E102 and E105 errors after 1 month of use. It was stuck in a loop, unable to complete a factory reset (recommended solution from Microsoft Support pages). This monrning I completed an offline update via USB and it finally recovered. I will continue testing my new scorpio until I am confident it is problem free. I will update here once I'm content...
Hmmn so i guess its a hardware issue with the xbox one x then? Noticed the same issue today when i got the 2tb seagate game drive, for some reason the front ports won't read it but works flawless with the rear usb ports, Tried my 500gb ssd drive with the front port & it works fine. Wonder if a factory reset will fix the issue?

I am having the same issue and I'm using the Xbox branded 4 terabyte Seagate hard drive. Works perfectly fine on the back ports constantly disconnecting on the front port. Don't know what to do I could send it in but I am worried I would not receive a project Scorpio back.
Not sure where you are located but in Australia MS have no stock. I'm still waiting on a reply from them as to what I need to do to get this resolved...? I'm thinking they are all playing up in the same way and that the issue is with certain drives. Any which you you look at it the problems with the xbox and no the drive.
Even the back still sometimes takes me back to the menu
I have a regular Xbox One X and I'm having the same issue on the front usb port. I first noticed the problem with my Kinect connecting & disconnecting and then my 4TB Seagate external hard drive sporadically connecting & disconnecting.
It’s a bit of a problem I think...the same things also been happening with my wifi. Losing power and then regaining it some time later...
When I put my Touro hdd into the front usb port of my X it doesn't show up on System Storage, but i do get a message saying (Try another USB port or cable, we see your external storage, but the connection is too weak to use). I tried the back two ports & they work fine, I also tried using a Toshiba hdd in the front usb port & it recognised it straight away, the only big difference between the two hard drives is that the Touro runs at 7200rpm & the Toshiba runs at 5400rpm.
I have two turo's one is 500gb the other is 1000gb. They are both 540rpm. The 500 shows the games and apps but wont let me kick anything off from it. The 1000gb starts fine and then starts dropping off - as per the video. It suggests getting a new one may not fix the problem. Possibly more to it than meets the eye.
I was thinking the same, maybe a future update might fix the issue. I tried the Toshiba cable with the Touro & it worked, the only issue I had was the External storage device ready message popping up every 20 mins. I also tried the Touro cable with the Toshiba which never worked, so it could be an issue with the cable. It's just strange how everything works using the back ports & not the front port.
Hey Duncan is yours the project Scorpio Xbox x or just the standard version of the console? Also I'm left wondering if the same drive would exhibit the same problem on another Xbox one x in the front USB port or if we have a fault with our units?
I just have the standard Xbox X so it could be a widespread issue.
Hold on...are you saying its a placebo? No it is not it is a more powerful box that super samples the higher end fidelity to your 1080p. It is going to look better....
My thoughts, after using my x for a month is that it is better on 1080p but more so because of the frame rates being improved. The visuals whilst better in most games may not warrant the spend if you already have the existing Xbox. If money's not an issue then obviously the x is the console of choice for graphics and gameplay.
