    Hats off to you for taking the time to post and share your expertise. Your earlier video for repair of HDMI on an Xbox was very informative, and I loved how you recommended patience! I wanted to comment that your mic could be much hotter. It's difficult to understand you occasionally. That, and you seem like a soft-spoken person -- perhaps some compression on your audio would help intelligibility. All the same, THANK YOU. Your experience with soldering and trace repair has given me the confidence to attempt to repair my Squeezebox Boom!

    Great vid, love this channel! Tore half of my ribbon cable, just soldered two 30awg wires up to the top connector from the bottom (usb side) of the cable, assuming for the sync button.
    Just a heads up, the entire spongy shielding block pops right off the auxiliary board with the same type of JTAG connector as the top (motherboard) end. Makes for checking cable integrity/repairing a lot easier. $50 for a replacement if you're lucky to find one, ridiculous!

    I dont know if this will help everyone but figured I'll leave this here is how I fixed mine very simple! My xbox1s would not even blink when pushing the sinc/bind button... so I watched tons of videos and tried everything I could including turning the Xbox off.. nothing worked! I pull the power cord out of the xbox for about 5 minutes and plugged it back up and BOOM.. my sinc button on my white xbox 1s started working again perfectly :)) hope this helps as it was so simple for me.

    Greetings from America! Hope all is well, haven't seen you post any vids for a while. I am addicted to your channel as I have recently started to get into console/controller repair. Your work is fantastic and professional. Just what we need. What kind of fume extractor do you have? With the one I have, it's not strong enough to suck out flux fumes, flux fumes are some nasty business. But I've been binge watching all your repair vids and pretty soon I'll have finished them all soon enough. I really hope all is well, we need more pros like you on YT helping us amateurs do reflow jobs. All your tips and tricks have been super helpful, filling in the knowledge gaps. Came here from My Mate Vince's channel. Once again, superb work, excellent tutorials, and your mild mannered and patient attitude is what YT is missing! Hope to see/hear from you soon!

    I've just picked up an xbox one x for spares repairs and it has this exact issue. I've taken it apart and the pads are damaged / gone like this was and the sata connector has also pulled off the motherboard! The hard drive is faulty when checking it with crystal disk info so my repair is going to be interesting! Your video has definitely helped and I'm not 100 percent sure you can't live without it. The controller will sync via the rear USB ports and if the drive is built from a Windows pc I think I can survive without that whole board being in. Will find out when I get my new drive partitioned up.
    Edit: I think I may be super lucky as the sync pin looks to be one of the ones still attached. The USB pins are toast tho. 😂

    Hey Andy I wonder if you can help me as I have a Xbox one 1Tb which has me totally stumped. I'm leaning towards a failing hard drive. Anyway, every time it's powered down it gets stuck on the green screen or a black screen. Also if it loses an internet connection, it goes to a black screen and occasionally it still has the side menu. But it would still have to be reset to factory settings again. I've not tried another hard drive in it yet, I'd rather have your thoughts first. Thanks in advance.

    If you plug in a controller with a USB it automatically syncs the controller to the Xbox then you can unplug it and it should stay synced. Unless this is also powering the signal board itself

    Great channel...Just wanted your opinion about using low-melt solder, especially for PS4 and X Box One repairs. Noticed that you don't use low-melt solder like some other UA-camrs and was wondering on the reason why. Is it because of 1) the expense or 2) the possibility of lingering contamination from the low-melt solder (especially if you don't clean it off good enough before applying new leaded solder, which will result in lower melting temperatures of the new solder joints) or 3) you may consider it a crutch, as if you cannot do the work without low melt, then you don't have the skills or technique to properly solder. As you may or may not know, low melt solder contains Bismuth, and when combined or contaminated with lead will drop the melting temperature of the combined solder alloy to possibly below 100 degrees celsius (Ipadrehab did a video on this explaining this very phenomenon). Again great channel and look forward to your reply.

    • @jarrodcook6110
      @jarrodcook6110 4 роки тому

      sadsack1040 why would you be worried about giving your opinion on his soldering skills? He did a great job despite the fact that he used the soldering with a melting temp that’s higher than what you do. So if anything that would mean that his soldering skills are a bit better than yours since he’s using something that isn’t as easy as what you are. Like, the video is to help others figure out how to fix the sync button without replacing the whole MB and your feedback didn’t even address anything other than you trying to let it be know that you think you’re better than him. So fuzz off you sad little sack

      Hi. well its on and can't see any shorts through the magnifying glass but it looks like I made a bit of a hash of it in checking the pins as it looks like one broke off. Also everything was going fine with the HDMI port as it came off easy and there were no missing pads however when it came to putting the new one on I used the drag method checked the pins and it looked like nothing was loose however when I connected it up I still wasn't getting anything on screen and when I checked again it looks as though some of the pads got lifted on the port it self. A bit disappointed but will try again at some point and will try using the jumper wire method when I come back to it. to be fair though my first attempt was fairly limited as I only have a magnifying glass instead of a microscope but still wanted to make the attempt.

      Are the pins clean on both sides? As long as they are all still there and clean then keep the connector plugged in to the tab itself and then screw the tab down as central as possible, the connections should still line up and work fine. Once you've tested it and it's working I recommend tightening the screws as much as you're comfortable with to prevent the possibility of it moving out of line in the future.

    Great video, Iv actually managed to do the exact same and break the connector socket off the board, it's a clean break with all pins in tact so as long as the whole piece is screwed on centrally, both the USB and Bind button work fine.
    Also just so you know you can actually bind controllers without the bind button as long as at least one of the USB ports works, plugging a wireless controller in will instantly bind it to the console, the same way it works on PS4.
