I remember putting my car into a long slumber due to an unknown problem. Turned out to be carby issues, but worsened to a cracked cylinder head as I had busted my water pump from all that sitting. A year later, swapped the head out, sort of fixed the carby, and she runs and drives. Also probably because I got to it as I watch how you revived the 240. Thanks man

went through numerous 13B's on my 1990 Rx7. got fed up and swapped in a V8, had way too much fun, blew up way to many motors, and always upgraded more and more with every failure. Ended up with a 630whp Ls1 swapped Rx7, that also had a 100 shot of nitrous. was a fun car, wish I still had it sometimes.
Mitsuboshi is supposed to be a pretty nice belt. I sell industrial parts to production plants, and I have sold those belt if I can’t find a gates. I’ve never once had a customer complain. Hope they’re good because I have one on the motor going in my odyssey lol!

Pho-licious looks pho-king awesome 😁 Had an alternator go out. It had just enough voltage to make it home; not long after parking the car home, it shut itself off.
The alternator on my old DA integra went out on my way home. It has the b18 so it became a whole project because of clearance getting the alternator out. You can either remove the axle or the brake booster and master cylinder. I chose the axle and ended up replacing an axle and ball joint because the boots were visibly bad. This car channel is easily becoming my favorite to watch, keep the content coming!
I had a nightmare with my z31... I wanted to do the ol' oil pump, water pump, and timing belt replacement stuff since its is 35 years old. I had a problem getting the crank/harmonic balancer gear off and I wanted to just use a wheel puller or something to pull it off. Since I had access to another gear I didnt mind even using a puller that requires me to tap in some screws. I was working on it with my stepdad who TEACHES automotive at a technical school. I went inside to get a drink and when I came back out he had the end of the crankshaft with the gear still on it in his hand. He thought a good method was using a hammer and chisel to bang it off and snapped the crank right at the end. I told him you break it, you buy it. So at least I have a new crankshaft in it. Not that I wanted to tear down the bottom end to do it but hey, its new and shiny in unseen locations. But I know its shiny, that's what really matters. I tend to work on my cars by myself like you do and I thought a little help every once in a while would be nice. Unfortunately it created a much bigger problem. Communication is key!
Maaaan that's crazy that the crank snapped off! But new shiny parts are always nice hahaha And I couldnt agree more, some help is nice from time to time, but I definitely prefer to know what's going on all around the car
@@PrizzaMike Agreed. You would think someone whose profession is teaching this stuff would know that’s not a good idea… It’s alright though, it didn’t ruin too much. Just as little setback. Comes with any project car, that’s how things go. One of my others had a timing tensioner bolt snap while driving so that was waaay worse. Half of the engine no longer has compression 🙃
The noise it made after the balancer sheared reminds me of when the bolt holding in my serpentine belt tensioner snapped off in the block. Nearly blew up my engine because the belt went missing 😂
This past weekend while I was using my 4Runner to haul, my radiator blew up. Was not expecting to do a radiator job on my Sunday afternoon but $203 and one beer later it was back in business. It pays to drive an old work horse sometimes. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Reminds me of your shenanigans
Them Japanise engineering, breaks down years after it's release decade ends, unlike today's modern cars, keep it up Mike, hopefully you will be posting more on the 240(weld)Z
Kinda glad I don't feel left out through a situation like this. The nostalgic feeling I went through when I had my Honda civic 98' d series. Replace blown head gasket/water pump / timing belt/ tensioner and had 156,xxx mileage on it. Ran awesome until it got stolen/crashed/impounded. I didn't have the funds to take it out at the time. If i could buy another Honda civic 93-99 d or b series engine I'll do it again. Of course, everything going well if it does happens again. Prayed for it too Haha Good times man 😄
I feel you on this video, I had a horrible time with my single cam 240 where the woodruff key slipped just like this Integra. Did all this fab work, I was too lazy to drop the pan and I dropped the key into the pan multiple times until I gave in and took the pan off. That shit was a nightmare and that motor was cursed.
Integras are the best project cars. I love working on my GSR, even when something goes wrong it's easier than a regular everyday fix on my bagged northstar caddy
You're so skilled , i did learned to have that mentality it's broken let's try to fix it and we learn as we go so we do it better next time but u take it to a all new level , you're becoming a very skilled mechanic , always enjoy learning new things , old parts will be trophies from now now , say no more 😎
I melted a piston in my 2sc (previous engine to the 3sge), and drove 5 hours down to the city to pickup another bottom end, and 5 hours back, then the next day I pulled the old engine out, refurbed the head (lapped, sealed etc), reinstalled all the parts, slapped the old refurbed head on the new bottom end, chucked it in the car and drove to work the next week. In total it was 3 days of work all by myself and the first time I'd torn an engine down and put it back together. This was about 2 months ago. I'll send you some pics on insta.
My worst experience was changing the gearbox fluid, I was using a Syringe to squirt the oil in each time and after the 3rd go or so I noticed the rubber end of the syringe has come off and was inside the gearbox. The car was meant to be tuned the next day. Luckily my friend has small hands so he just about managed after an hour to get the rubber grommet out . So so so lucky
I once had a wacky moment with my project car which was all my fault and it was the luckiest escape for me LOL. I was in the middle of fitting bike carbs to my '93 VW Polo and I had to finish up working on it for the day with the inlet manifold off. What I did to make sure dirt or debris doesn't get into the engine was put some blue paper towel in the intake runners (I put a sheets worth into each, ik, it wasnt a good idea) When I put the new manifold on to fit the bile carbs to the engine, I FORGOT to take the blue towel out! I didn't know at the time but I put everything back together, and attempted to start the thing, and of course the valve was munching up and mashing on blue paper towel while cranking over. To cut a long story short I noticed the carbs were spitting blue towel debris after quite a few attempts of starting, and I had to manually pick all of it out of the intake runner and spark plug holes but the thing is still running strong to this day! No bent valves, no issues or anything! Lesson learned, don't put blue towel where it doesn't belong 😅
Your videos motivates me to rebuild my suspension👌👌👌 My story with my ek9 change a wheel bearing easy and quick well not. It was so stuck in his place that i had to buy a new drive shaft new wheel hub, new ball joints under and steering ball joint that also broke when i was almost done with it. So i replace almost every thing 😅
Replaced the motor in my 2002 Mustang and manual swapped it after the piston rings failed, then 2k miles later a sparkplug blew out of the head..... now working on getting the money for the gaskets i have the heads off the old motor im putting on the new block after they got refreshed, and while I'm at it.
One time I left a breaker bar on my crank pulley bolt after checking valve clearances and started the car. It wound the crank pulley bolt out and the timing slipped (Mazdaspeed3, no timing keys). I was freaking out because I thought I'd bent a bunch of valves, but it turns out my Manley pistons have oversized reliefs which saved the day.
Last year I had my crank pully come loose just like yours on my gsr swapped rs integra, luckily it was in my driveway so I didn't run into all the issues like you did. Now it has a boosted ls vtec setup an I blew a coolant line at the gas station near me just 2 days ago.. gotta love b series!!!
Even though i dont have one of these cars or engines i really appreciate all the nice close ups of what's happening. Super helpful for everyone who gets down and dirty in their own engines. Also... i think you should rattle can Frany's car... all one colour, maybe something funky, would make for a fun viseo, and im sure you both would have a great time. Much love from the UK❤️
So... here is mine, its still happening today. its a long story, but shortly, my engine after 4 years driving it just blew up, needed crankshaft, block machined, new pistons, rings, everything. I didnt really wanted the machine work, i just wondered how about i buy another engine, with new rings, and almost perfect condition crankshaft bearings and a good pistons, it was half the price, and these pistons were high compressions, so i was happy about them, i really trusted the guy so i didnt expected any bad, it felt great. I spent less, got better, i was happy about it until 1500miles. my engine started leaking oil, i was a little sad about it, but it was okay till one day when i was on the highway, going home, and in the last 200m from home, in a corner i checked my rear view mirror, huge smoke, it was oil. i towed my car to my mechanic, ripped the engine apart and it was fucked, real bad. Head was okay, compression was great, but crankshaft and the crank bearings were burned, somehow i got oil issue, still dont know why. So im heading tomorrow to the machine shop, engine drilling, new rods, grind the crankshaft, all the good stuff. spending around 2k $ with my 500checks. Conclusion : if your engine is this messed up, dont trust no one, get your motor out and the machine shop will fix it for you with guarantee, do not try to save a few bucks on this. ( i didnt wanted to save on this , i was just naive and thought it was a cheaper and will get same good azz resaults. )
It was interesting to see how everything is set up on these engines. You did a good job over all with the exception that you did not paint the valve cover while you had it off. The last time I had to replace the valve cover gasket on my Integra I took the time to strip it clean it and paint it with black wrinkle paint because it was the main eye sore when I opened the hood.
I’m glad it was saved easily enough. You’d want to keep an eye on it now the tolerances are no longer as good for the woodruff key to be kept in place 100% with you on wearing gloves while working, especially when dirty, carcinogenic oil is involved.
My dad owns a Citroen C5, which has a hydropneumatic suspension. Once when driving, the thing that holds oil (I literally forgot what it was called) broke, and the oil poured right out, the suspension was super stiff, it was in the repair shop for a week. The parts weren't cheap too, as its a French car, we got it working at least
My Element had been in and out of the shop a couple times before the incident happened. I had just picked it up from the shop when it died at an intersection on the way home. It wouldn’t start at all. I later found out that it the clutch starter switch had gone out and needed replacement.
I had this exact experience wit the keyway shearing off the crank. The crank bolt had backed out of mine and caused the crank pulley to do exactly what yours did. :(
I never would have believed how easy that seal came out if I hadn't witnessed it myself. Man, when I replaced my oil seal on my prelude. I earned that shit! Lol
love seeing the content on the integra, i remember when u first posted the 180 being crashed on instagram and i think me and a lot of others where quicked to judge and probably talked some shit in the comments but now i do truely love the videos they are great an i enjoy watching them 👍🏻 love seeing the integra and keep up the vids

Congratz!!!🎉 Godbess I really dig your videos . . . Hope I’m that knowledgeable one day!😂😅 Honestly timing belts scares me but seeing you explain me a bit makes me not think it’s so bad lol Music was slappin’ on this one too lol
The only seal that has ever come off that easy for me is the rear main on the trans of my turbo 400. If it doesn't seam to weird. What do you do for work?? You are a great mechanic, ever thought about doing a mobile mechanic service,?? you could make bank $ doing that 😀. And have some sick content
When I saw the title I was like NOOOOOO NOT THE WORK TRUCK! Haha. Glad you got it all put back together. I may have missed it in the video but did you put a little blue lock tight on the crank pulley bolt when you installed it to keep it from vibrating loose again? Luckily that keyway didn’t get destroyed and could take a new woodruff key!
i dont have a car but, i have a moped that i renovated the entire engine on and when i was about to put on the exhaustsystem, the threads snapped. and those threads is part of the cylinder. 😬
A couple years ago I was going to get ice cream with my girlfriend and I tried to pass a car that was waaay too slow and my gearbox shifter literally fell out! Literally no gear engagement, so I had to remove it completely and luckly I was able to put into 2nd gear and went back home, had to push my car into the garage and grabbed my mom's car to get ice cream. xD
Man I had just replaced the power steering pump on my truck and it didn't work so checked for clogged lines all was okay decided to replace the rack and pinion and still not good I was going nuts changed the power steering pump again and finally fixed it right after spending more than 500 bucks but new stuff on there so all is good
I had a old 86-88 honda.accord I was about 3 hrs from home and saw this thing go shooting out the car right come to find out my whole harmonic balance came of doing 65-70 down rt64 to rt168.
Man, I've seen this twice before, and in both cases, I ended up with this dreaded problem on my old 93 eg civic, first car. It's not something that happens all the time, but I believe this is a somewhat known issue on some Honda engines, namely the d series. Had no idea this same issue happens to Integra engines. My first engine that blew on my civic had this problem and that junkyard engine that was swapped in funny enough, had this same issue and it's life ended the same way. All my belts shredded, and the harmonic balancer was shaking like a leaf. Keyway eaten away. Had to junk my civic unfortunately since I wasn't going to spend another $800 on a new engine/crankshaft
Love watching your work man, and it’s inspiring me to get my own little project car soon. Haven’t had anything real crazy occur while driving (I’ve only had 2 cars) but when I was driving my Mazda 3 gt around a mountain road I accidentally dipped the rear passenger wheel off the shoulder of the road that had washed away, causing the upper shock mount to break from the body. Managed to tiptoe the car home and fix it in the morning. Funny enough the other one broke the same week🗿
Crazy asf my friend has an integra and his crank pulley took a poop like a day ago, 2 teggys down 😢also fun fact Honda crank bolts tighten them self a tiny bit every time you crank over the engine

Definitely one of the best channels to watch 👌
Those camera angles tho! 👌 Super educational video Mike I love these kinda vids keep it up man 🙏👌💯👏
Awesome work, keep it up.
My Miata has this same issue. Jb weld the shaved part and us retaining compound before torquing the crank pulley on
easily my favorite channel on youtube. i can't even think of any aspect of your videos that i have a particular issue with. keep rocking! (:
I don’t own a car but I recently did maintenance on my dad’s Peugeot Partner. It is a small family van
Ive been rebuilding my first motor and when i was putting my timing chain tensioner on i snapped the bolt off, luckily i was able to get it out
Also you give me hella inspiration for my miata build. Keep up the good work
I never would have believed how easy that seal came out if I hadn't witnessed it myself.

That B20 is for sure a monster!

Hey trying to reach out again about that quarter panel im working with a stamping company to get new ones made and that would help out tons!
Oh awesome! Which company? It's hard to keep track
I'm looking for a tegy as my first car and so vids like this are really cool and useful for me so I know what I'm getting into, thanks man 👍

@@PrizzaMike whoa you actually replied, dude you're one of my favourite creator's this so cool!
Enjoyable
Congratz!!!🎉
Godbess I really dig your videos . . . Hope I’m that knowledgeable one day!😂😅
Honestly timing belts scares me but seeing you explain me a bit makes me not think it’s so bad lol
Music was slappin’ on this one too lol
The only seal that has ever come off that easy for me is the rear main on the trans of my turbo 400.
If it doesn't seam to weird. What do you do for work?? You are a great mechanic, ever thought about doing a mobile mechanic service,?? you could make bank $ doing that 😀. And have some sick content
That's a pretty good idea
Might have to look into that tbh
@@PrizzaMike seriously! you got some good skills at repair and the patients
Goodstuff 👊🏻 ive snapped my miatas timing belt once but luckily its non interference so it just shut off 😅 😂
It’s okay, I just broke my harmonic balancer today on my ka24de. It legit fell apart using the puller lol. Best of luck man you’ll figure it out!
Nice work man. Keep it simple! Keep it OEM!
such a win. good job bro
Keep calm Mitsuboshi it's a well know belts brand.
I did not use lock tight
Idk why I didnt think of that Haha
But its torqued so it should be all good 🤘
@@PrizzaMike sounds good, keep on rippin man! Just recheck torque after a few drive and heat cycles.
i dont have a car but, i have a moped that i renovated the entire engine on and when i was about to put on the exhaustsystem, the threads snapped. and those threads is part of the cylinder. 😬
😬😭
The worst feeling
@@PrizzaMike it really was 😭😂. but its all good now 😄✌️🇩🇰
A couple years ago I was going to get ice cream with my girlfriend and I tried to pass a car that was waaay too slow and my gearbox shifter literally fell out!
I mean, I will gladly take it off your hands good sir! 😁
😅
I'll trade ya a pizza for it 🍕
@@PrizzaMike Bro, Absolute DEAL! I'll even go to my home town and get you the best of the best!
Man, I've seen this twice before, and in both cases, I ended up with this dreaded problem on my old 93 eg civic, first car. It's not something that happens all the time, but I believe this is a somewhat
known issue on some Honda engines, namely the d series.
Haha oh man thats wild 😅
I think you have used the wrong bolt for the tensioner, you have to use a sleeved bolt and let the spring do all the tensioning
These vids are always so entertaining
Lucky ya fan belts didn't get sucked in by timing belt seen it happen 👍
love the honda videos man keep it up
Crazy asf my friend has an integra and his crank pulley took a poop like a day ago, 2 teggys down 😢also fun fact Honda crank bolts tighten them self a tiny bit every time you crank over the engine
B Series ftw! What's the 3SGTE doing in your bro's garage? For the MR2?
Yeeee project coming soon 😎
Your b series is more reliable then me saving money
