For the core support sections that are overlapping you should do a "FIP Gasket" aka form in place gasket or seal. We do this at the aerospace company I work for. Usually, we mate the two parts together with the sealant on one part and a dry release agent on the other part. Bolt it together and wait for the sealant to fully dry before taking it apart. There should be a full gasket on one half and the other side should be clean. Stops metal on metal chafing and makes the part more solid when fastened together.
Dude, the progress is awesome. Once you get the quarter panel done, the car will be a true, complete, shell. You are going to have the most rigid, strong s13 frame and body on the planet (short of a tube race car). I still believe the car will move under its own power by christmas
Dude yes!!!! I think that nissan will be so strong now after all the gusseting he has done to the shell. it will be very interesting to see if it makes any kind of noticeable difference, it should be so smooth like it's on rails
the engine bay looks so good, i can't wait to see it painted. i'm also kinda glad you went with a more oem style with all the fabrications, personally i think it's the best look
Love this build. One thing I was thinking about for the core support, after paint maybe use clear bra or something to just protect the paint. Or vinyl the part close color but that could work
YES! ANOTHER VID! bro your vids have kept me going in life, I’ve had a pretty rocky road but watching your videos is like getting a new pair of coilovers
2:37 that was a reverse entry. I love the idea of a removable core support. Your car is looking better each time. Drivable very soon! Thank you so much for sharing your journey!
I gotta say you have become quite the inspiration! I am building a 1994 ford ranger prerunner. It’s become quite the project as I continue to change things along the way, thanks for the rad content! Definitely gets me excited to work on my truck🤘
@16:01 do exactly what you are already doing, only once it is all painted, use some clear bra vynil to cover over the lower hald of rad support, so as the upper half of rad support sit ontop of the clear bra so no paint is scratched and you still get the exact same effect 🤘🙌
For the metal to metal contact you were referring to, I’d run some sort of rubber gasket in between the two surfaces as it add a vibration damping layer between the two sheets and protect the paint. Another option you could use is some clear 3m vinyl.
Man! Just was thinking about how to make this when i readed the tittle! Well, now im waiting to see how you gonna cut and weld rear quarter panel because my rs13 needs a whole new side that isnt rusted!
After the car is finished being welded up will you be seem sealing all the seems etc... the passion you have for this car is unreal and reason why I subscribed to your channel . Great job on all your hard work .
Man this is an insane project! Ypur metal skills are so really truly amazing! Thanks Mike for make these videos; the 240 is the true Phoenix and all this in one year of work! Mike we love you! ❤️ Greats from Italy! 🇮🇹✌🏼
That's what I was thinking . I agree with you two .I've got a bunch of different thickness's of rubber membrane just for that exact type of situation . Just changed them if they wear out.
I did this on my ek civic and what I did was I used a rivet that has threads on and you just screw into it. Pretty simple and easy to do actually can send you pictures of it if you want.
found you off of tiktok and have spend the last two days watching this whole build. Thing is tits and it’s crazy you’ve done it all yourself keep it up can’t wait to see it finished!
Love every episode, to see the progress and ideas!! Makes me want to start working on my Sileighty again!! Love the passion and drive to get it sorted!
I feel like its a good idea to just use some rubber hose and cut it for the seam of the core support if you have concerns of coating getting removed when removing and installing it back on
Praying mantids are my favorite! Was so nice to see one. (: I'm kinda sad that the core support won't be permanent, cause it looks freaking sick. I wonder how different the car will feel after its done, with the weight of the welds & reinforcements, along with how rigid it'll be now, or if any of that will even change anything. Good idea to put a cage in it, too. Pack a fire extinguisher that handles all types of fires as well, for good measure. Don't breathe that metal dust, and keep slaying! ~
I love the way it looks I love all the good work that you’ve done I enjoy your videos keep up the good work thank you for the good content never disappoint
One of my friends has some dimple die gussets that connect the shock tower to the cowel/bulk head of the car. They look cool, but they also provide a extra strength to the car. It might be worth doing to yours car, especially for the purpose of strength. Either that or you can sure make your cage go through the bulk head and tie into the shock tower.
on my friends 240, we cut the core support on both sides and made a bracket on the backside with rivet nuts that isn't visible. you cant really even notice the two cut marks on each side from the front.
Hey man! Make your removable core support just a hair wider than it needs to be all the way around where It mounts up , then line the inside of the removable piece with a thin rubber (adhesive on one side and smooth rubber on the other like a 3M product), this way you can attach it without damaging the paint and it will still fit snugly and tighten down with the bolt.
Hah the pile of "powder" on the garage floor under the car is like deja vu, as my floor looks pretty much the same... Mine's a mix of rust, metal dust, seam sealer, and undercoating... On the future design for the core support, could you possibly cap off each end of the middle section like you did to the 2 outer ends, and then through bolt the 2 end caps together underneath rather than from the top? I'd have to look at how much access there is from underneath but if you could bolt from below you could create a really clean looking seam up top where the 2 flat pieces come together where the top would be completely flush. It'd probably look even better than oem which has the overlapped panels at each end. Hopefully that description made sense.
Yo that was the biggest praying mantis I have ever seen. The Kimbo slice of bugs if I ever seen one!!! She's coming together nicely dude 👌 almost there brother.
I think the core support would be perfect if you painted both surfaces and then installed the center section over the outsides with some thin rubber washers to prevent the two from touching
yo that preying mantis did a 3 flip! savage! preying mantis are dope as fuck, we dont see them much in florida which amazes me cause fl has all fn bug and they grow huge! ive seen more of those up north in ct then down here in fl lol
Tidy job, Mike! Use helicopter tape after it's painted on the part above the headlights & on the underside of the core support where they meet. You could use clear sticky vinyl, but helicopter tape is more durable. Cheers. Leigh.
Melt down the metal dust and press the quarters with it and fully complete the 240 recycle process lol. Fuckin amazing to see how far this build has come so far and it finally getting close to completion.
@17:28 that is my garage, 3 cars worth of parts and a shell being worked on just like yours. only dif is all my tools are all away were they belong aside form ones being used for current project. however, parts are everywhereeeeeee lmfao i know exactly where shit is though. madness
when i did my core support i just cut straight thru it and then on the side that comes out, i riveted a plate on each end and then on the headlight side i used a rive nut in that bolt hole that u were originally going to use
i feel like you couldve left the original core support/bumper bar mounts and just grinded them flat so the square tube butted up flush to it. and just weld it how you did behind the original mount
Dude I love the mods you are doing, such a great way to make an oppurtunity out of the crash. Have you checked out SendCutSend before? I think you could really make use of it in your build, especially with all the custom metal work you are doing. And it might even save cost over raw material and abrasives. Plus they seem to love to do UA-cam collabs. Just saying. :D
I wish you hadn't shaved down the front face of your top core support brackets. It would have been stronger to have that front edge fold down onto the front face to triangulate the brace. Still very nice d.i.y. fab work and fun to watch. I agreee with you about removable core supports, never liked them until your video. They always look slapped together. Popping the hood on your vehicle should be like opening a jewelery box.

Your 240 is starting to live to the name "Weld bucket", love it, keep it up Mike, that looks like a clean upgrade for work later on
Haha so true 😅
Cant wait to test out installing the engine without it in the way now 🙌
Your fabrication skills are insane. Imagine what you could do with a sheetmetal brake.
the best part is his welding gets better each video

The 240 looks like a car and not just like a frame!
Big thanks for making videos!
dude I don't even know how I managed to find your channel, but your videos are so goddamn good
the engine bay looks so good, i can't wait to see it painted. i'm also kinda glad you went with a more oem style with all the fabrications, personally i think it's the best look
A true definition of a junkyard jewel. I love it and keep up the good work
I have never clicked on a video so fast, when I saw that you posted I instantly had to watch
Thin piece of rubber between the radiator support and its mount. Looking great as always man. Cant wait to see it finished.
Love this build. One thing I was thinking about for the core support, after paint maybe use clear bra or something to just protect the paint. Or vinyl the part close color but that could work
Congrats on the sponsor. You deserve it 😌👌
watching your progress really makes me feel like i can do this
Hell yeah I agree. I wanna hug him
Yooooo congrats on getting a sponsor! You're def moving up in the automotive content space!
Thanks alot man! 🙌
Mike is a "small" automotive content creator but we all love him more than the bigger youtubers
I gotta say you have become quite the inspiration! I am building a 1994 ford ranger prerunner. It’s become quite the project as I continue to change things along the way, thanks for the rad content! Definitely gets me excited to work on my truck🤘

my favorite is getting the garage cleaned after doing something in there. A beautiful blank canvas to come back to. Hope you're doing well brother!!
For the metal to metal contact you were referring to, I’d run some sort of rubber gasket in between the two surfaces as it add a vibration damping layer between the two sheets and protect the paint. Another option you could use is some clear 3m vinyl.
You really have that "can do" attitude, and your videos are inspiring.
Shout out from South Africa.
Dude that car loves you for what your doing, I can’t believe it’s almost done, your awesome at what you do bro!
Your practical Skills are insane even the light is so smart
She's coming alone, Great work, keep the vids coming !
Man this is an insane project! Ypur metal skills are so really truly amazing! Thanks Mike for make these videos; the 240 is the true Phoenix and all this in one year of work! Mike we love you! ❤️
Greats from Italy! 🇮🇹✌🏼
You could just glue some felt-like material on the underside so it wouldn't rub the paint off.
bro congrats on the sponsor thats huge for your channel
Add more bolts to the center section one on the front and one on the back. Great job on the rebuild and I do autobody for living.
Try using a rubber mat between the two metal sheets for the core support
Was thinking of the same thing, either a rubber mat or some kinda rubber coating on the Frame and the inside of the core support.
That's what I was thinking . I agree with you two .I've got a bunch of different thickness's of rubber membrane just for that exact type of situation . Just changed them if they wear out.
Thinking about the same.
every time your vids come out im sooo excited! good stuff man love your channel
I’m so happy with the progress
Watching this series is so informative
KEEP UP WITH THE GOOD WORK
I did this on my ek civic and what I did was I used a rivet that has threads on and you just screw into it. Pretty simple and easy to do actually can send you pictures of it if you want.
That's a good idea!
Core support came out sick! Maybe try clear vinyl over the paint where the surfaces touch to stop paint rub?
Definitely inspired me to finish project 👍🏻
A removable core support is such a great idea. I'm actually planning to redo the front end on one of my projects for this reason.
This series is awesome, the build is coming along nicely. Your skills are next level. Very inspiring indeed.
My thoughts exactly
found you off of tiktok and have spend the last two days watching this whole build. Thing is tits and it’s crazy you’ve done it all yourself keep it up can’t wait to see it finished!
Only videos keeping me happy lately! Keep it up Mike can’t wait for the next one 👏👏👏👏
When you are in the zone, all tools are everywhere etc....I can relate to that 👍
Love every episode, to see the progress and ideas!!
Makes me want to start working on my Sileighty again!!
Love the passion and drive to get it sorted!
i am happy to see you finally have a sponsor
Yoooo congrats on the sponsor dude!
sticky back rubber or felt between core support layers, also common on miata/s2000 hardtop mounts
I've used thin bike tube glued to one of the surfaces, works great if there is clearence for it
I feel like its a good idea to just use some rubber hose and cut it for the seam of the core support if you have concerns of coating getting removed when removing and installing it back on
Praying mantids are my favorite! Was so nice to see one. (: I'm kinda sad that the core support won't be permanent, cause it looks freaking sick. Don't breathe that metal dust, and keep slaying! ~
Can’t wait to see it back and running
Bad ass man the engine is going to look awesome in the car
I love seeing the progress of this build and how creative you've gotten along the way! Keep it up man, you'll be sideways really soon at this rate!
Its looking good cant wait to see the first test drive once you get to that point ❤
Well done Mike. Great fabrication and mindset young man.
I love the way it looks I love all the good work that you’ve done I enjoy your videos keep up the good work thank you for the good content never disappoint
Finally... The bro uploads 🤘🤘🤘
I swear i was just entering yt and i said pls say he made a video, pls say he made a video…. I love the journey bro o been here from the start
Talk about craftsmanship🔥

It might be worth doing to yours car, especially for the purpose of strength. Either that or you can sure make your cage go through the bulk head and tie into the shock tower.
Maybe make rubber gaskets that sit between the support and the frames? could be useful if you decide to keep it that way
on my friends 240, we cut the core support on both sides and made a bracket on the backside with rivet nuts that isn't visible. you cant really even notice the two cut marks on each side from the front.
Put foam patting on the underside of the core support tabs so it doesn't scratch the paint
for the mounts for your core support there you should put a rubber bushing of some sort of keep the metal from smacking eachother just like factory
Nice that you got a sponsor!!
Progress has been great! Im really curious how much the end result is gonna weigh, please put it on a scale some day! :)
Hah the pile of "powder" on the garage floor under the car is like deja vu, as my floor looks pretty much the same... Mine's a mix of rust, metal dust, seam sealer, and undercoating...

Watching this makes me want to work on my own shitbox.
Thank you for sharing your journey.
Nice attention to the details 😎😎
Yesss, he got a hrrrr 🔥🔥🔥
2:37 that backflip tho
great work! I like the execution of it.
I appreciate your video uploads!!
🙂
I think the core support would be perfect if you painted both surfaces and then installed the center section over the outsides with some thin rubber washers to prevent the two from touching

Ok, OPERATION ENGINE BAY: COMPLETE SUCCESS!! NOW PLEASE JUST SHOW US THE QUARTER PANEL INSTALATION IMMA DIE
you are killing it 🔥🔥🔥
Tidy job, Mike! Use helicopter tape after it's painted on the part above the headlights & on the underside of the core support where they meet. You could use clear sticky vinyl, but helicopter tape is more durable. Cheers. Leigh.
Thanks for the tip! I'll look into that!
More work now so You have more time for fun stuff later. Neat idea!
Melt down the metal dust and press the quarters with it and fully complete the 240 recycle process lol. Fuckin amazing to see how far this build has come so far and it finally getting close to completion.
I think I'm gonna need to do this on my car getting the RB with trans on is a pain in these cars
@17:28 that is my garage, 3 cars worth of parts and a shell being worked on just like yours. only dif is all my tools are all away were they belong aside form ones being used for current project. however, parts are everywhereeeeeee lmfao i know exactly where shit is though. madness

Been waiting on this
Wish I could see you do everything on every day
Use something like a gasket like 3M clear paint protection.👍❤️🇨🇦
i feel like you couldve left the original core support/bumper bar mounts and just grinded them flat so the square tube butted up flush to it. and just weld it how you did behind the original mount
put a rubber piece between the core support and the core support support (=
It was the walking stick for me, they always seem to come around when I’m messin with my car
make front bash bar it will look sick 😍😍
Killin it bro🤘🏽
Dude I love the mods you are doing, such a great way to make an oppurtunity out of the crash.

frankenstein Mike i like it nice job
Looking good bro
curious on the weight difference of before and after the accident, maybe much heavier in the front with all the welding and support beams, maybe not
Your car needs to go to SEMA.
man people around the world might need inspiration from you.
Enjuku Racing should bring him next year
Post moar!!! Your channel is so sick!
