    I love the fact that you emphasize that taking your time and being careful is ok. So many people try to knit faster and get the projects done faster. This sweater is gorgeous. I wish I had the confidence and patience to do one like that. Thanks for sharing your helpful tips and tricks. Love your videos!

    I have done backer buttons but I have started putting ribbon on the back of my button band. It gives stability to the band, holds the buttons on well and looks really nice.

    Oh Jana I just love and trust the way you explain and show us how to knit better! Also I appreciate your use of the small sharp scissors and slow cutting! Thank You very much!!!😀🧶
    Ps: I would, after sewing the the button on loosely (you can use a toothpick under the top button to create space) wrap your thread around the stitches behind the button, making a “post”, then finish off with your back button half hitches! This allows space for the thicker knit material.😀

    I absolutely love this and intend to actually make this cardigan but didn’t have the time when you started the KAL…no worries! But I’m absolutely in love with that yarn! And that button attachment! OMG! How cool and easy-ish looking to do! Definitely going to incorporate that in all my button sews from now on! Fantastic job! And it looked beautiful on!

    Thank you so much for a wonderful tutorial. I was looking forward to learning a few new tricks and wasn’t disappointed. Especially loved the information on sewing on the buttons. I am just knitting the yoke to my cardigan and now looking forward to the finishing part.

    Omg thank you especially for the button attaching!! I am not a sewist whatsoever, and I usually see bottoms on with yarn, but yes it does get loose over time… I will know forever do it this way! Thank you

    Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. After a short delay, I finally completed the button band and my 1st ever cardigan is drying. I know it's summer, but I don't care - I've been wearing my cardi indoors - under AC. I started off wearing it as a pullover before steeking. I can't wait to make another cardigan. Hooray for sticky wool.

    Fabulous video! I’m just finishing the body of the Cumberland Falls Cardigan, so I will be doing my first steek soon. I learned a lot watching you do the button band and sewing on the buttons. Thank you so much ❤️

    Oh dear....what did I do wrong? I cut after reinforcement and ended up with my knitting unravelling. I salvaged it by going through stitches lower down with another line of reinforcement AND sewn wool blanket type stitching before picking up the button band...same for the other side.
    I've had to cut off at least 1/2 inch of unravelling edges to make it less bulky turn over before I will sew on a ribbon to hide a monstrosity!!!!
    I'll have to practice another steek on a sample piece soon to make me carry on and want to steek again...I know I should have done it to begin with but me being me I didn't bother....
    Your instructions are great, love Peanut btw but my brain got addled somewhere when knitting the body.

    Thank you for showing the steek, I really appreciate it! I want to steek a pullunder/vest at the armholes and it's pretty thick yarn... would you rather sew or crochet to stabilize? And what would you do to finish the edge of the armhole?

    • @PurlTogether

      I prefer to needle felt my steek. If you have a small hole after joining the sleeves, I just go back and sew it up later.

    I love the kitty help. Mine does that all the time, but I have to watch her because she will lick my yarn until she felts it. She has ruined several projects.

    Thanks for this tutorial! I’m about to try this for first time. Question: why can’t you use the same yarn for the crochet reinforcement? Also, how tight/lose does the crocheting be w the finger weight wool? Thank you!

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  Рік тому +1

      You could, it's just easier to crochet if you're using yarn that is a little smaller than the yarn you knitted with. You'll just need to experiment with your own tension to ensure that the fabric lays flat, but is firm.

    I’ve been so scared of the steeking process. Your method looks so great. Can you use this method any time you need to cut a steek?

    Can you use the instructions for a Steek sweater and knit it like a regular cardigan sweater?

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  Рік тому

      Depending upon the pattern, I would think so. You'd just omit the steek stitches in the center
