I Only Changed One Thing. This is What Happened.

- Hey guys... I only changed on thing, and this is what happened.
I got very sick last year and was on bed rest for more than a year, and I gained 10 Lbs during that time of bedrest. Fast forward to this year - one month ago, and it had been about 18 months since I got so sick. However, I was still struggling with depression and anxiety (from being so sick), I still wasn't fitting into my clothes and I still had weight to lose - I still wasn't feeling like myself. Then I heard about this one thing that literally changed everything overnight... and this is what happened.
I hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful!

Looking in the comments to find the answer so I won't have to watch the whole video
There wasn't just "one thing" she worked out 5 days a week, dieted and changed her schedule...the typical things needed to get in shape...🤷
Jenn S. I think she meant that she changed her mindset. Changing her mindset is what leaded her to change the things you listed.
Jhafia Moore same😂😂
She decided not to break promises she makes to herself - if she says she's going to work out 5 times, she will. Sticking to your plans basically.
Same hear
All I did was change one thing: every single aspect of my life
That sounds amazing. Congrats.
thanks for letting me know I can stop watching and move on with my life! lol
smashingbadgers badge she changed one thing... everything else was a consequence of that.
Literally you need to have time and especially a free mind for this...if i dont finish an essay or another paperwork for uni c.f. cause there's simply an obstacle which i couldn't forecast there's no way for me to free my mind and just get on with sports...and that's where this vicious circle starts: an exception becomes a habit...you just can't plan your whole life
@@juliThea362 Agreed. If there is something left unfinished from my work , I come home and get to it and till I feel very very sleepy or till I get a solution to the problem I just cannot think of going like "it's 9pm I have to sleep and wake up at 5am"
"I changed one thing" changes everything in her life
Lmao, did we watch the same video? It was just one thing in particular and the other changes were just a consequence of that one change: sticking to your schedule/promises you make to yourself to get your "life" back.
Catarina haha no you’re right i was just joking :)
@@hunterwaterman2412 oh wow, I actually think I get it now lol, sorry. My sleepiness might have taken a percentage of my good old humour away for a second.

Thanks you just save me a lot of time
Thank you
I love when I can find someone that gives me the deeds of a long boring video 😍😘
When she said that we keep our promises to others but not ourself, it hit so close to home :(
Withering Daisies I thought the same thing. Never thought of it that way 🤨
Same.. never thought of it that way before
Same 😔
My psychologist told me that as well, and then try and find the underlying reason for it. Why do you think other deserve your time more that you do? I haven't figured it out yet, as it comes with a bigger amount of self acceptence and love than I currently have, but it is an insight that is good to think of every now and then. You (/I) deserve to spent time doing thinks that make you (/me) a better person in the long run, even if it is not so nice right now.
For me it helped a lot with studying habits (in Uni atm) but it also goes for other lifestyle things, like eating well, working out, cleaning your room/house. Not always easy, but good to keep in mind
IKR! This is so simple you wonder why you didn't think of this. So grateful for this. Thanks for your comment too😊
Here’s what the video is about: follow through with a promise you make to yourself by making a schedule and doing it
Thankyou so much!!
Thank you 😁😁😁
Healthy Xalimo thank you lmao
ty, bless you
you've got to be jokingggg lmao
Don't give up when your tierd, give up when your finished.

Don’t stop when you’re done. You might fall back into the body shape you don’t like. Keep on moving all the time.
Ty!!for saying this, it gave me chills/tears❤
Omg this motivates me so much thank you lol though I sound silly but really it does help me 👌🏻❤️
This was EXTREMELY helpful. I break my promises ALL the time. And then I feel super guilty and reward myself of food when I'm sad. So it's inspiring me to keep those promises. And just do them, I know I'll feel better by the end of it.
literally me and i get so disappointed with myself in the end
Yep. Same
BUBBLES THE PUG that’s exactly my situation now and I relate to every single word you’re saying.
Me to!! ❤️
BUBBLES THE PUG I’ve felt that way as well for a long time. I’ve never been able to put it into words!
I knew I had trust issues but I didn’t know I had them with myself
SAME

That’s deep.
BOOM
Same! 😭😭
Fun fact: your not watching in full screen 😄😄
That's right
You're not incorrect (p.s. you're not your) 😜
Never😹😹😹
I cast 😏
fun fact: yeah i am lol im on desktop
me everyday having a mental breakdown when I look in the mirror or try taking cute pictures but I can't stick to a diet because I can't see the outcome asap, it makes me feel like I'm loosing myself within myself.
Just know that whatever you do. You are beautiful!!!!!!! Believe in yourself and you got this
This is me right now!! Can totally relate
Celeste Garcia wow couldn’t put it in better way ! Exactly what i feel multiple times a day.
Celeste Garcia this is exactly what I’m going through rn🥺
I was the same and could never loose wait with exercise/diets because I never stuck to them. And I finally lost about 8 kilos (dk how much it is in pounds) with anxiety and heartbreak, so yeah not a fun way to loose weight. I’m telling you all this because I used to believe that I wasn’t able to loose weight because I didn’t see results immediately or I would just get discouraged, but now I can see that I can and whenever I wanna lose those 2/3 extra kilos I’m much more motivated because I know that my body is capable of reaching that weight. I also used to be scared that once I’d reach my weight goal Id gain it all back because I’d be hungry and stuff, but that’s not true because my body adapted and doesn’t feel hunger as much as it used to, and rightfully so because I used to eat food in excess. So trust me you’ll get used to it, u just need to make it a habit. Plus trust me looking at yourself in the mirror with that new body, being able to wear those clothes... it’s a feeling like no other! I got so confident and felt much happier, I finally wasn’t ashamed of putting on shorts or going to the beach :’)
Btw I am 158 cm (approx 5’1’’) and used to weigh 57-61 kg (depending on the time of year, during the summer I’d gain weight) and my lowest weight (after I broke up with my bf) was 47 kg
Now I’m at 51/52 but I’m trying to get to 47 again because my body was the bomb at that weight
To everyone saying she literally changed everything: she changed ONE thing in the way she THINKS, not one thing that she physically does! But I found this really helpful, it really does help to trust and believe in yourself
Also - butt pads.
So true Liezl and great seeing you doing better again! Keep rocking superstar! 👍🏼💪🏻
Imagine waking up at 5 am everyday to work at home ..man I am already tired just thinking about it

Come on people, let’s all promise ourselves to achieve our goal and trust yourself. We can do this! 🥇😉🙋🏼♀️❤️
Petra K it’s not easy to do , sis.
Sosa Jean actually it is very easy. You just need to discipline yourself.
@@maryrush4540 and exactly that is HARD to do by yourself
Jos-Jos Radvanjí not when you get the hang of it. It’s a lifestyle change.
@@maryrush4540 yes but if you have a weak mind it's really hard to change literally anything.like if something made you really depressed, even once you recover you're still mentally weak af and while you keep thinking you try and fail you actually don't even start trying because you're so scared that you'll fail that you can't get yourself to actually start and the more that happens the more you think you can't do it and it's a death loop.
I don’t trust myself because as soon as my life is going well, something awful always happens and ruins it.
So relatable. Actually I'm constantly "waiting" for it to happen.
u know , it's all about how many times you get up when those days happen. Even the worst day can turn out to be the best if u simply believe it. I hope this helps you.
I feel you
@@JayNiMi you are waiting for it to manifest yourself..Your intentions create your world .
start writing affirmations. And gratitude list whatever you feel gratitude towards that situations comes back multifolds .
In the list of gratitude ,write thanks for the situation you want to manifest in future.even if it's not happening in future ..you'll find it manifesting in a unique way ..justset your intentions It works wonders .things will start falling into place ..we keep on repeating that this will happen and it has to happen ..
Create the life you want..your life will be transformed..
That makes a lot of sense. But you also need to give yourself a brake and not be so hard on yourself when goals are not achieved fast because it takes time. Slow and steady wins the race. It’s all about consistency, preparation and prioritizing.
Keep the promises you make to yourself to trust yourself and build your self confidence, Achieve your body goals first and then achieve other goals in life
1. Worked out 5x a week
2. diet plan
3. Bed on time / wake up on time
4. Worked at set time daily
5. Don’t break your promises
This explains a lot, I always give up my goals but I didn’t know why exactly. I for a fact have low confidence
You disappoint me yoongles ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ)
What a coincidence we both a yoongi stans meeting in a random comment section

I think it is really important to realise that you are not perfect, you don't have to be perfect and you can't be perfect. Being perfect is not the goal. You are enough the way you are and you are good the way you are. Of course, you can try to "better" yourself (I mean, guess why I'm here), but don't expect too much from yourself. You won't change completely who you are in a week. You have to understand that you are the way you are. It is your character, the one you have for this life. You have flaws but everyone does and that's what makes life interesting. Try to accept and understand yourself and when you have done that, you can set goals to achieve.
I believe that everyone can accept himself/herself, but it is a process for most of us, which is completely normal and fine.
Behaviour like this is literally what drove me into a pit of anxiety and depression, it works both ways everyone
can you specify?
Same.
You were too strict on yourself or you thought of it as a punishment these can easily can ruin your life
I can relate I had to take some time to come back to myself
So true!!! Don't get me wrong it can definitely be a positive, but that's exactly what happened to me with diet and exercise in college. It became an obsession, i put it before literally everything else in my life, and felt extreme guilt and sadness whenever I would slip up. It took YEARS to heal from that, and for the record I'm fatter than ever now so it wasn't even worth it (95% of diets fail [fail as in the weight is regained, usually with extra on top] within 5 years. don't listen to people who lost weight 6 months ago, 2 years ago, or even 4 years ago. Look for the people with 10+ years behind them)
Summing it up :
LOVE yourself
FACE yourself
TRUST yourself
💜💜💜

So crazy how i have been so disappointed in myself for years and today was the day that i stepped up and went to the gym and ate healthy. And i came across this video, ive never seen a video of yours before. I don’t trust myself. So insane to put it that way. I want to be better. That’s awesome. Your advice was really needed and was here at the right place and the right times. Thank you

Law of Attraction in action... It happens all the time. Good luck!
I'm glad the one thing was that and not a miraculous product
I understand chronic illness, anxiety and depression, which can be debilitating. Am so glad you're doing better and on the mend and recovering. Your video is much appreciated - so it's really a shift in how we think which can enable us to follow-through on our goals. I'd never thought about it that way before. Not trusting ourselves mostly leads to failure. By following through and completing the promises to ourselves, we build a strong foundation which enables us to fulfill our goals. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Wow, I feel so inspired after watching this, thank you! I've fallen so far behind with my studies because I didn't follow through with my plan and schedule. I promised myself I would do better, but I haven't kept those promises and that really is demotivating. But I've been working out and eating healthy, and I really think that has been a step towards "trusting" myself again. I just needed to see it that way and not give up before the exams :-)
I’ve been trying to get in shape for a long time. I do a little workout everyday
It’s been two days...
But I really want to stick to it
Edit : I was really sick maybe a week after this comment and I totally lost the will. I wasn’t consistant at all and I nearly gave up. But know I’ve started establishing a routine, and I’ve worked out every night for 4 days, and it makes me feel better ! I didn’t really wanted to do it tonight but I forced myself and I’m glad I did it !
So for everyone struggling keep it up !! Let’s go on this journey together
u can do it!!
Good luck 😊
Good luck! We know you can do this

Wow girl I really needed to watch that, I'm literally stuck in a vicious cycle with myself of not being consistent with anything and just feeling guilty afterwards and anxious. I'm seriously gonna try this, thanks for sharing this ❤️
Needed to hear that. I think it's great how transparent you are with life hurdles. It's so valuable to know others experience similar things. Kudos to you for being the proactive one to forge the way!
I really don't like my body...and I'm trying to change it so badly...and I kinda always screw something up...but I will not give up.You are really inspiring and thank you for motivation
Lana Grey I feel you!
Just keep being consistent, you don't have to be perfect. We all screw up, that's what makes life interesting. If we were all perfect all the time, then we would be bored. It doesn't matter if you eat bad for a day or two, or whatever, just keep going again :) XO

You are so young and learning such a important lesson. You are doing this life skill. Thank you for sharing. You got this!
It is called self-efficacy in psychology (for the people who find it interesting ;))
Thanks 👍
Another concept in psychology is Locus of Control. Some tend to think things are in their control, some think things just happen to them.
My brother wrote about that for his college essay:)
Thankyou 😊
As an entrepreneur I learned from a successful mentor to fill the role of two people. As the boss, create structure & establish systems to track progress. Schedule an agenda of actions with deadlines or quotas. As the worker, start work on time, invest in the purpose & follow through on assignments to get paid. Occasionally the boss evaluates the worker's performance. What's going well & what needs to be improved? Separating these roles instills accountability & increases productivity. It's similar to the concept she explains in the video of keeping promises we set with ourselves to build self trust. Either way, consistent practice of taking action builds momentum that leads to success.
Funny how this is the first thing I watch on my ‘break’ for a paper that’s due tomorrow

So glad I came across this video! I have been going in a circle for so long now, unable to move forward. A lot of what you said hits home. I say I'm going to do something, work on it briefly, then don't really go any further. I never thought of it as breaking promises to myself. Thank you for mentioning Ed Mylett. I had never heard of him. After watching this video about 5 days ago, I looked up his channel and have since watched/listened to several of his videos. He is saying so much stuff that I need to hear. Thank you!
This is the best video I have watched in so long. SO TRUE.
Thank you. You’ve just got another fan for life!
Genuinely helpful, when you said "we keep promises to others and not ourselves!!" Thank you :)

also love how the title was tricky you didn’t refer it to your diet you changed your mindset!!
Well done by the way on your success and pulling through 🌷
I needed this so much! My gosh, talk about a lightbulb moment. I suffer from post natal depression and I realised I haven’t been setting mini goals and sticking to them so as a result I haven’t made / stuck to life goals. And i felt like body goals weren’t enough. But you’ve totally spun me round.

This really hit home. Last year when my brother in law was deployed, I moved in with my sister to help out with my newborn niece. When my brother in law returned home I gained 20 lbs since my main focus was taking care of my niece. Since he has been home I have been trying to lose the 20lbs but I have been getting so frustrated because I felt like I wasn't able to lose it as fast as I have in the past. Watching your video made me realize how much I was doubting myself. From this moment forward I am going to make the promises that I need to make for myself and follow through with them. Thank you so much for posting this video. It awakened me of the things that I didn't even realize I was doing.
I really like that idea of making a promise to yourself, and I'm glad it worked for you. I've missed you!
whoa. I really needed to hear this. such great advice I can’t wait to test this out
This is what I am trying to do this year. It's gonna be all about helping myself be better. Congrats!
Thank you so much for this video!! I needed this reminder and, even more so, clarification. I’ve recently been on the “to stop being a bully to yourself” bandwagon, but understanding it as well as breaking promises to myself is exactly what I/we do. (And you hit it right on the nose about us constantly jumping and completing tasks for others.) Thank you again, it was exactly what I needed to hear at exactly the right time 🤗 Best of luck to you and I look forward to more of your videos-just subscribed 😊
You just gave me the kick in the ass I needed. I am also coming out of a really deep depression and battling with confidence and self doubt. The past two years have been really hard on me, and it took away from joyous times such as my wedding last fall. However, I'm working on building a business, working full-time and trying to be a present and loving wife to my husband, and Mommy to my fur children. The biggest loss of confidence and Trust has been with myself. I will be watching this video every time I need to be reminded to keep going. 💙
I literally discovered her about two days ago and i already made like 5 of her recipes
ah that's so cool! I hope you liked them XO
Which ones?
Sabriah Hill basically everything from the 5 quick healthy meals i eat every week video
she is going so much deeper than *just* saying "believing in yourself".. i never bought into those inspirational cookie-cutter lines.. but developing *self-trust*... that's something i need to get behind
I usually don't comment on vids(yes, I've been a lurker) but this thing struck a chord with me. I have been lately thing about 'having lost trust in myself' because I let rhe little promises I made to myself to the way side. Like another commenter have pointed out, I usually keep my promises to other more than to myself. And I have always thought that the way I can gain it back is by building back the confidence through committing to little actions that i say ill do. And this video has showed that it is indeed possible. I'm gonna give this a go. Thanks for sharing your experience!
So sorry to hear you have been through such a hard time. Well done on you for picking up the pieces and moving forward strong. Lovely to gave you back you are always practical and inspiring xxx
Yesterday I kept telling myself, I need to keep my promises. I don’t deserve the way I’m treating myself! The universe literally sent this my way today ❤️
Sorry Liezl that you've had a tough time. So glad you've found a way to get back on track and thanks for being so brave and sharing. You are so beautiful both inside and out.

This is so inspiring. Thank you so much Liezl, your videos have helped me a lot about getting better, about my weight and also the way I view things in life. Keep being the best role model here in UA-cam, I love you!
Yes, the video was helpful and very sweetly laid out. I'm going to pass it on to someone I know needs to hear this.
Love this thank you, I felt like I was having a nervous breakdown last night and just in so many transitions, even not taking care of my body like I normally do. They are so connected, and I carry this feeling of being defeated I think is happening because I've set big goals this year that I can't envision myself completing, when we do things we've never done before building this trust with ourselves is so important, because we're stepping into new territory when can feel quite overwhelming! Thank you so much for this inspiration.
I just want to say thank you. I’ve been on the struggle bus for years when it comes to losing weight and eating healthy. I’ve been saying I’m going to do it over and over again that it became a broken record. This, honestly, open s my eyes. I need to trust myself if I want to succeed. I need to start keeping my promises to myself. Thank you again. 💙💙
The first part of the video, feels like home, that's how much I'm struggling with depression right now. I'm so happy you got through it Liezl, I missed you and your videos and I'm so proud of you for getting back on your feet. Hope one day I manage to do that myself! 💖
I believe in you XO thanks

That is the best advice I have ever heard . I am going to trust my self from now on
Thank you for this... you don't understand how much I needed to hear this!
What changed my body was literally a consistent workout schedule. I refuse to diet because I’ve struggled with orthorexia and I’ve noticed it may take slightly longer but mentally I’m much better.
Omg, I'm not medically diagnosed but I believe I have orthorexia too! If it's okay with you, would you maybe talk about it?
I am so happy for you. Consistency is key to accomplishing your goals!!! God Bless!
This has given a completely different perspective on life!
Liezl, somehow your video and your message created a shift into my mindset. I was super depressed and anxious about uni, which lead me to make excuses for not being healthy. My trust in myself was basically non-existent from trying and failing so many times. But for the past two weeks I have been keeping on track with my nutrition and exercise. I made small promises that I knew I could stick to and I have been seeing such progress. Thank you for sharing this with the world. I just wanted to let you know of the impact that you are making. Keep being amazing ❤️
This is so motivating especially that I am currently in the place you use to be but I promise myself no more and I will make a change! I will have to look him up for more motivation thanks love 💕
This was so timely!....I need to watch at least 4 times to grasp and apply ......Thank You xo
OMGGG!! i heard the same discussion on a podcast called "Self-Helpless" (which i highly recommend) and i have been thinking about it ever since. For me it was because i was putting myself last. I would accomplish other goals in order to not disappoint others, and it was okay to disappoint myself. but its not. I deserve to put my goals and myself first. And i have slowly gotten the confidence to say "no" to others when i was asked to do sometbing i didnt want to either at work/school/social life and do what i want. And i've been so much happier and confident. but i'm still working on this. i have social anxiety so it takes a lot for me to say "no" to others
FriendlySpiderFriend what was the topic on the podcast called?
@@fastingaccelerator6854 Hello i'm not too sure, but if i find it, I will let you know by replying again
Thank you for the inspiration! Even if I cannot plan everything, I can make a plan for the week and I won’t let my own excuses stop me from that. I know that with being able to cross of things on my list, as daily “put things in their place” and my daily walk, I can get even more motivated to do what I need to do to feel good.
Simply put...Follow through with goals..period! Thank you for sharing❤️
Wow. This video really opened my eyes. I've noticed that I also don't trust myself nor keep my promises but I can keep my promises for other people. It's so sad honestly. The thing with me is, I'll start working out, a week goes by, 2 weeks go by and by the 3rd week. I'd get tired of it. And I wouldn't wanna do it anymore. I just have to stick to my plan and not give up so easily. Wish me luck🙇🏻♀️❤️
I know. I find it's a habit. But we can learn to change it, it does take some effort, But we can do it!
@@LiezlJayne Agreed 💗 We just have to have a little bit of faith and keep pushing.

Love the idea of making a promise to yourself and NOT breaking it! Now I’m looking at goal setting in a whole new way!😄
