One of my biggest goals was to buy my first vacation home overseas so I can retire without a mortgage in a less expensive country. In late Sept I bought a small home in a small town in France and I go there to relax, retreat, write, and rejuvenate… by myself. It is such an incredible reset place, a real de-stressing experience that lasts for weeks, months.

One thing I would like to point out is that when we try to hyper-optimize for productivity, we also eliminate opportunities for spontaneous life activities and experiences.
For example, if you’re listening to a podcast in public, the benefit is the learning from the content, but you inwardly forgo your ability to be present with the moment and you outwardly signal to the world around you that you don’t want to be bothered.
I wonder what we, as a society, have lost in the name of productivity…

    • @degrotekoningwouter

When everything is measured by productivity and numbers, there isn't any room for spontaneity and wonderlust left.

Yep. For that reason, sometimes I choose to go on walks without my phone, or take the bus without listening to music. Go grocery shopping without earbuds in, ask the Uber driver how her day has been... Sometimes the things that happen can surprise you. It makes you aware of your community. Totally agreed.

    • @devon366

I discovered the benefit of audio books and productivity by accident. While I’m doing my artwork I listen to something. It seems to set part of my brain free and it doesn’t interfere with the creative process. I find that time stops and I get into the zone really quickly. It also seems to silence my inner art critic! I’ve just ordered your audio book and I’m looking forward to today’s session with clay, knowing that I’m doing 2 important things at once. Thank you for your relaxed and positive approach to productivity!

I don't think that any tips he might provide would be of much help to parents who work 9-5 or who have a much less flexible schedule than Ali has. Most parents or a large majority of parents are not successful entrepreneurs with 7 figures businesses or youtubers like Ali and his wife are.

    • @jamie.buhler
      @jamie.buhler 2 місяці тому

@@Hehe15066 Very few people "are" successful entrepreneurs with 7 figure businesses. They become that through focus and discipline. I started my company with two kids in diapers. It's not a 7 figure business but it has grown to the point where it provides a comfortable lifestyle for my wife and I.
And here I am now before those kids (now 3 of them) are awake, watching a video like this to grow my company even more. His tips are helpful. But if you have kids, you definitely have to contextualize it for your situation.

    Habit 1: Ignoring Annual Goals
Instead of setting annual goals, focus on quarterly quests-specific goals for the next 90 days. This method is inspired by productivity frameworks like The 12-Week Year and allows for more agility and focus. Breaking projects into quarterly milestones helps maintain momentum and adapt to changing circumstances. Aim for 3-4 goals per quarter, divided into work and personal categories, to ensure manageability and consistent progress.
    Habit 2: The Weekly Review
The weekly review is a 15-20 minute "reset" to reflect on the past week and set priorities for the next. It involves reviewing wins, tracking progress on quarterly quests, and determining the top 3 priorities for the week ahead. This habit helps maintain alignment with long-term goals and boosts productivity by keeping your focus on meaningful tasks.
    Habit 3: The Morning Manifesto
The morning manifesto is a quick, two-minute journaling exercise done each morning. It includes reviewing weekly priorities and identifying the most important task for the day. This habit keeps your daily actions aligned with broader goals and encourages intentionality, ensuring you focus on what matters most.
    Habit 4: Focus Logs
Focus logs involve tracking the time spent on focused work each day. This habit builds awareness of how you allocate your time and encourages greater productivity. By logging focused minutes, you can identify inefficiencies and steadily increase progress on critical tasks.
Habit 5: Standing Order Social Events
To maintain strong social connections, schedule recurring social events-like weekly brunches or game nights-that happen at the same time and place. These standing events eliminate the hassle of coordinating schedules and foster consistent relationships, combating loneliness and strengthening bonds.
    Habit 6: Multimodality Multitasking
Multimodality multitasking involves pairing activities that require different types of focus, such as listening to podcasts or audiobooks while commuting, walking, or doing chores. This approach helps maximize productivity without compromising focus on important tasks, allowing you to make progress on your goals during otherwise idle time.

Loved these Ali. I did more of these than I realise. For example the Multimodality multitasking (tongue twisting). I watched this video while in the bath. 😂. Listen to audio books on my walk. But definitely need to do the walk and plan idea. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that. That’s going to help planning things ALOT! 🙌. I also like to live by the quote from Greg Mckeown “if you don’t prioritise your life someone else will” ✨

Habit 3 - The morning manifesto.
    Habit 4 - Focus Log.
    Habit 6 - Multimodal Multitasking.

I didn't have a high expectation since 20xx best year videos feel like copy paste at this point, but it was actually very helpful. Thanks so much for making it even if you didn't feel like it :) Happy for your marriage and will definitely give these tips a try for my 2025 :)

    Hey Ali,
While I was doing the dishes I watched this video and I’m blown away. I know your work is very good for years (since 2020 ish) but wow.
I’m at a phase of my life where I’m very stable in the basics, but very stuck with my passion.
Tonight I will rewatch this video with full focus and make a plan how to takeover 2025.
    Thank you! 🌱❤️

For habit 5, as a non-religious introvert, I can't think of any idea that resembles your suggestion 😅
For habit 6, if there's a will, there's a way. It's not toxic productivity if one enjoys the process. Productivity should serve the end goal of fulfilling one's passion, but not enslaving one to become driven solely by numbers and speed.

I love the candid parts like in 4:45 where you blend "filming Ali" into "bloopers Ali" (even though it's still an edited version of you)! The cut was a little jarring, but still breaks up the monotony quite a bit

Absolutely love the Habit 5, Ali. I have a feeling that this is going to be life-changing for me the way it has been for you. I've also started the monthly and weekly reviews, at least have scheduled them, have attended to just three by now though. but there's progress which I'm happy about. I just wanna say that what you create is truly life-changing, Ali. Thank you for being around us here. Anddd, I've a video suggestion. Please make a video on how to cultivate more positivity and optimism in one's days and life, and how to prevent negativity to take root inside one's psyche. Thank you again for all that you do. Love youuu!
