      Hey Ted I subscribed a couple of weeks ago. Awesome videos. My question is what kinda of insurance do you need to drive these cars? A lot of them are classics. Or do the owners provide that? Either way, I've really been enjoying the videos 👍.

    Being nearly 70 years old, it's funny seeing these 'collector' cars that I clearly remember from my youth. I can remember this from high school; it's so beautiful. The car mags back then used to take these to Nevada to test because there weren't speed limits on some roads.

      Back in the day Bill Harrah was big in the Ferrari and collector car world in Las Vegas. Road & Track would borrow his cars for review. What’s really funny are the cars that connoisseurs would turn their noses up at in-period like a Ferrari Dino that are now selling for $700K. Would’ve been inconceivable back then.

    This car is the definition of a GT. Everything about it screams smooth, fast driving. The interior, in particular, is perfectiom. The steering wheel, wood grain dash, instrument placement, switches, gear shift, even the air vents are just right.

    • @austinado16
      @austinado16 3 місяці тому +2

      @@TedwardDrives It's absolute perfection, top to bottom. Not a single rattle or clunk going over that metal plate in the road... just dead quiet. That little "You're ready, right?" bark when it first lit after hearing the starter spool it, was amazing. And the fact that the revs drop right back to "safe-to-shift" mode, and it's still carrying enough torque to pull through the clutch release, and smoothly continue accelerating. Sounds and "feels" like maybe it's long stroke with a heavy crank and flywheel?(I don't know anything about them). I love the body lines and the sexy, thin, chrome, window pillars. Also, that sort of unfinished, race-car back end. Literally just; "The design ends here." Amazing machine, and I appreciate how you drove it, including just letting us listen along with you.

    Found this nice video a little while ago. Actually bought this car Oct/E from the Bond Group about 2 weeks after this video was made. Love the video...! Been sharing it with friends when they ask me what I got. I bought it from BaT without much research with an hour left to the auction when I discovered it. After apologizing to my wife profusely about this irresponsible purchase, took a redeye from California the next week to drive it and instantly loved it.
    Arrived in California mid-November. Just been driving it with constant up and downshifts to hear the V12 Columbo revving. It is the most comfortable sports car I own. One thing I'll consider is changing the radio to something more period....I see from the comments I am not alone.
    One more bucket list item scratched from my list.... ;)

    It is always a delight to watch your videos and realize the knowledge and respect you have for these very special beauties which you drive accordingly. It is moving to watch the needles in the dials wobbling (soooooo Sixties 😅). The oldest Ferrari I ever got to drive for an enjoyable stretch was a 365 GTB Daytona, and oh how I loved it. Years later I was able to buy a second hand 550 Maranello which had its great moments too until everything went haywire (engine, gearbox, front suspensions, exhaust…) That was just bad luck and I still revere the V12 Ferraris of the past. Being fairly sensible I drive a contemporary 911 and love it as well 😎

    My father bought one of these around 1980 (they were quite reasonable then). I was fifteen, daydreaming of driving it in one short year.
    My father prided himself on being able to fix nearly anything, but when the head gasket went, he decided not to attempt the repair w/o Ferrari tools. When the repair estimate came back at $1,200 (I think?), he sold it as-is, completely put off by the cost 🧐. Porsche Speedsteer came next. I don't recall what he was paying for used exotics in those days, but nothing like today!

    hill starts are a PAIN, especially if there is traffic. backpain, shoulder pain...and the clutch is extremely sensitive. i do very much enjoy driving it though. however, if i can only own 1 ferrari, i would pick the 365 GTC/4. this era was definitely peak ferrari styling, it still continues to look genuinely good or aggressive especially with the recent models but only these pre boxy era ferraris are sexy and elegant. i do however, very much appreciate modern efi, clutch, transmission, brakes, more refined suspension and especially the dependability and reliability of the newer models, but no modern ferrari would be able to compete with the sound these naturally aspirated columbo and tipo engines. i love your attention to the car's detail, thank you for making this video.

    I’m a huge fan of the 330/365s from the mid to late 60s most of all the gorgeous 330 GT 2+2s. maybe I’m weird, I think the 2+2s are better looking and proportional. the 250s are beautiful but don’t have the refinements like the wood/leather interiors on these the bigger torquier motors with the 5 speed disc brake additions! I would prefer one of these comfortable fast easy to drive GT cars to an earlier 250 honestly!
