      I shouldn't have to look for videos on transitions, they should be completely intuitive. Transitions should be the fist thing that the developers developed to be 100% intuitive. Davince is NOT the least bit intuitive in this regard.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  Рік тому +10

      There’s a lot of things and resolve that are not intuitive off the bat. Part of the reason why the learning curve for Resolve is steep.

    Thank you for explaining why transitions wouldn't always fit between clips, that had me completely baffled when I ran into it!
    Even as a beginner I'm loving how much you can do in DaVinci, but at the same time there's so many options and so much to learn it can be overwhelming without videos like this to explain things.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  2 роки тому +11

      You’re welcome! There’s so much that resolve can do it’s almost endless. The learning curvest deep but keep working at it and eventually you’ll figure out how everything works. I’m still learning to and I still feel like I barely know anything about this program. 😜

Your help is appreciated.

    Hey Jason! First to say I subscribed after the first Resolve Con, but I couldn't follow your style. Now for the last two days I'm watching the sht out of your videos and I find the pacing excellent!!! So this is like a milestone for me and shows my progress.. I really love your style and how much effort you are investing in these videos. The showdown of all the things we can do with Davinci in your own videos is excellent! That's pretty important and I appreciate the extra mile you go and invest time to really implement these though they might not be necessary, one would argue, in a tutorial like this. Really happy to have you here and can't wait to progress enough to dig into Fairlight.
    One other thing I am happy for is, with this new wave of Davinci teachers, it is a blessing to know you OG's who are in this program for years. Thank you and all the Resolve Con Avengers! Greeting from Croatia!

    "Hard enough as it is" an understatement. I've been an editor for decades, was on AVID for almost a decade, changing interface, licensing issues etc. I jumped to DaVinci. Sure Glad I did.
    Editing is NOT my problem, but finding everything under the hood-and the magic that awaits!

    Hey Jason, thanks for another great video. I got a transition tip for you. You don't have to drag n drop the transition; if you place the Timeline Selector between the two clips, go over to the transition, & double click it. The Transition will automatically drop between the clips.

    I'm not used to comment on a videos, but this one was very helpful...
    I thought I knew how to add transition, how hard it can be right? but I didn't know why I can't just put it/drop it between clips...
    great explanation in 4:20 section, this helped me with my initial problem that brought me there...
    There should be some prompt from DaVinci letting the user know that the clips are not overlapping or that you just can't put the transition there at all, but instead it doesn't show anything/tell you what's wrong... pretty frustrating to this very day.
    Thank you again, helpful video!

    Very helpful video. Cut tab with the speed editor is super helpful when you have a large number of clips.

      Thanks so much Paul! I appreciate you watching my videos. 😁 I shop at a local coffee shop by my house and pick up the ground coffee, it’s super delicious. Having three girls and a dog and a wife or lead me to drink more coffee to get more done and take care of everybody. And of course make videos for UA-cam. 😜👍😁

    Really excellent transition tutorial! Questions: (1. How to reverse transitions? Like the diamond iris opens from center outward. How can I make it close toward the center instead?) ..... (2. Edge wipe goes from bottom to top. How can I make it wipe from left to right or right to left instead?) Thanks!

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  2 роки тому

      Thanks! You should be able to select the transition, open the inspector, and there should be a box to check on to reverse the transition. Give that a try, it should work.

    • @RAPTOR8ASDF
      @RAPTOR8ASDF 2 роки тому

      @@JasonYadlovski (1. I had missed the reverse option before but I see it now. Yes, checking it does reverse the transition.) (2. Guess the free version of DR does not have left to right -or- right to left edge wipes. Only has the bottom to top edge wipe.) ..... Thanks for your help Jason. Clicked the like for your video.

    wow I just switch to this program and was having all the problems that you talked about with transitions. You saved me a huge headache, Thanks a lot great video!!! I was just wondering if there is a way to adjust the audio level on a video by adding points like you do in power director 365 and just raise or lower sections of the audio and not all the audio at the same time from a video clip? Thanks again

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, you can add keyframes to the audio. You can add them using the inspector volume or you can ctrl (might be alt) click on the gain line on the clip where you want to add a keyframe.
