I second this. A good chunk of youtube is thumbnails and clickbait titles and been able to have recommendations by someone you trust for other parts of Davinci helps save a ton of time and fustration sifting through all the "luts" and "quick hack" videos.

Im new to editing. Haven't used any software. I'm looking for that 2 hr. Media page tutorial. Then the 5 hr. CUT page with SPEED EDITOR covering every possible detail. Then a 10 hr. Tutorial bringing the 3 together to tell a story before moving on to the fine tuning pages. So many videos jump page to page and show what DR 18 can do, but don't cover the why you do it this way and then the how. Maybe YT doesn't pay enough. Create a subscription offer. Part 1 through 50 in 1 hr. tutorials. I've watched many DR 17 and spent more time trying to decipher the process because the layout is different. So DR 18.5 would be ideal. Yes, I've watched the Blackmagic DR 17 tutorials and can not keep up. Spent more time rewinding. If anyone can point me in the right direction to a full tutorial. Really appreciate it

I worked in the television industry since 1993 and have worked on several non-linear editing systems including the IMIX Video Cube, Media 100, Premier, FInal Cut Pro and several others. I retired several years back and didn't think I would ever want to edit again but I've gotten the itch to do some stuff for myself lately. On a recommendation of a friend, I downloaded DaVinci and then found your channel. Thanks for helping me get started. Great job.

Perfect, I have been using DR for 2 years and this is the first time someone has clearly explained how it is set up. I kind of worked out to hide media and cut pages after several tutorials. I just use edit. I didn't know about libraries though. The one thing I dont like about iMovie is the whole library gets appended so it grows huge and you cannot just delete a few projects without screwing the file up.

By happy coincidence, this was the FIRST Davinci Resolve video that I watched on UA-cam. That was about 4 months ago. Since that time, I have watched a lot of video from you and from the others whom you recommend at the end of this video. It has meant a great deal to me that you took a minute to list them... especially by their areas of expertise. I am so fortunate to have this group of professionals as my go-to teachers. I feel like my DR journey started right here. Thank you.

A note on purchasing the Studio version. I was new to Resolve but purchased the Studio version at B&H Photo bundled with the Speed Editor. The price is $100 over the cost of just the license but well worth it in terms of convenience and learning to use the application.

I'm soooo glad I've stumbled across your channel thanks to this video, amazing! DR is quite daunting for people like me, who have pretty much never edited videos. Your video is exactly what I was looking for: short and high level explanations to understand how the program works. Brilliant. I'll certainly watch other videos from your channel and in the meantime, I've subscribed! It's also awesome you mention other channels. If only this would be a more common practice! Why are YT content creators so worried about their videos being long?
This video is jam-packed with information and if he just were less worried about going over the 1hr mark it would have been even better than it already is
Just to clarify: I want to start editing videos, have used Premiere Pro 20 years ago for a single project (lots of flexibility but also lot of hard work) and was trying to decide which of the big 3 to use. Each one has pros and cons, but Adobe’s subscription policy is really akin to getting someone addicted to a drug and then milking them by selling them the drug. That kinda rules out Premiere.
This guy has just sold me to DaVinci Resolve, but there was no hurry. I would have happily watched a 1hr video on this subject…

I wanted to move from clipchamp to Davinci for the longest time but my PC was a potato. This video got me started with my first project. It is kind of overwelming but I like all the new things I can do.
    Thanks

Really enjoyed watching your video, just starting to learn DaVinci and was looking for a good set of tutorials to learn from. It looks like I have found your channel to learn the basics and then make the next steps up the ladder. Thank you for your time and talent.

I bought the speed editor last month and received a licence code for the studio version with the hardware. So I got the speed editor and DR Studio for £300. Very pleased!
