Man, I've had this TV for about 2 weeks. It's just extraordinary. And that's coming from someone who has owned top-notch plasmas for over 20 years. Not only is it superb in reproducing 4k content but the upscaling of 1080i programming is outstanding. I've not done any calibrating but just chose the "Movie" preset. I'm awestruck every freaking time I turn it on. Your observations are not hyperbole and are spot on.
I knew you would choose this tv, I thought about all current tvs. And this is a well priced gen 3 qd panel come this fall. My main focus for my next tv is getting that ks9000 feeling back again

I am in the market for a 77". Had my 50" Pioneer KRP-500M for 14 years and will move it to the bedroom. Problem in Northern Europe is the only S90D model with the QD-OLED display is the 65" variant and they do not even advertise that model as having a QD-OLED. They just state (OLED) in the specifications. However the 77" S90C is still available for a very good price - Only thing I hate about it is the cheap stand as had the S95C on test for a week and this TV blew me away with the HDR, brightness and colour gamut. The latter was so noticeable and at that time I had the C2 and G2 on test. Unfortunately I returned it due to drop-outs with the OCB which was a real shame. Has Samsung now resolved this issue with the S95C as that too is available for a very good price (plus I like the heavy duty metal stand :)
Suddenly even rtings is parroting what you said. There are all these guys saying the LG C4 is better but even on rtings they said s90d is better. I honestly think this absolves all the dishonest hate thrown your way.

Photoluminescent water and accurate colors are two different things. I have never bought a Samsung TVs because grass, on say a football field or golf course looks like it is green plastic. But I watch your reviews and you make a strong point for the s95b over the a95k. So, is this TV as good as the g4 or just Samsung's best effort to date. And, thanks for your reviews
Great tv I agree, I just got the 89c two months ago and I imagine the 89/90c is about 75 percent of what the 90d is. I do not update firmware since I got hosed in the past with Samsung. I tested this on the 89c, it was amazing unboxing it, but after firmware it got gimped. My old mini led Samsung did the same thing. The first 8550c 4k I had did the same thing. Never connect it online. lol. Anyway, I got another 89c to replace it due to the original one install was messed up and cracked the tv. It’s back to what it was.

In case no one is aware, DON’T get the 83in S90D. Samsung is using a WOLED panel on that size and not telling anyone. As well as a few other sizes. I purchased the 77” S90D today and it’s AMAZING. Just be careful with what size you get. Do your research on the panel it has.

yeah its amazing tv, unfortunally buy this tv is a lottery, because it's impossible to know which panel it will have Samsung sells S90D with both panels, W-oled and QD- oled and after ppl spend so much for buy a qd-oled, finding a w-oled would make anyone angry :/

Why not a single TV reviewer ever mentions an awful stutter on OLED tv's when watching 24HZ content, especially in long panning shots. Every time camera moves slowly on OLED, I want to vomit. No offense QUANTUM TV, your reviews are best, but stutter on every OLED is horrible. Despite saying this, I still gonna buy OLED for contrast, but pls someone start talking about stutter on OLED tv's. No options like smoothing helps, things only get worse. No company yet invented a fix for stutter problem.

How bright does it hit? Last week my room got first hit of SPRING sunlight , was not even that hot but room well lit. 😂My 1800 nit tv went --100% backlight full tilt, Black Level went from 19%to 80% , n still TOO DIM!!!!!!!😂 I had Ah Ha moment of “I NEED 3000 nits!”😂😅

Hey I’m trying to decide between 48 inch S90D & the 50 inch QN90D both around £1300 I’ll mostly be using it for PS5, Switch gaming & watching movies I’m aware of the Woled/QD-OLED situation but I’m still wondering wether the S90D or QN90D is better for me.
I went for S90d and the gaming is amazing on it! The contrast is insane. The only problem I’ve had is on some internal apps for streaming sports but I think that’s more the problem with the app than the tv.
The fact that Samsung bricks their own TVs is concerning. I have an LG C3, and would consider getting the Samsung but worry about making a mistake and letting an update sneak in to make it worse. That totally sucks!
Ok I exchanged my Qn90c for this S90D cuz of you Quantum. Feeling a bit of guilt cuz I was getting use to the Qn90c. Now if I join your membership. Your telling me my mind will explode cuz of your settings?
No doubt it's a great TV but here's the brightness scale; Peak 2% Window 1,199 cd/m² Peak 10% Window 1,193 cd/m² Peak 25% Window 640 cd/m² Peak 50% Window 334 cd/m² Peak 100% Window 214 cd/m² Sustained 2% Window 1,192 cd/m² Sustained 10% Window 948 cd/m² Sustained 25% Window 614 cd/m² Sustained 50% Window 329 cd/m² Sustained 100% Window 211 cd/m² What you have is incredibly unstable brightness with severe ABL and pathetic 200 nits full field brightness. There is zero real innovation with this TV and it is still not suitable for displaying HDR properly. It's the same old crap with marginally improved color production. For comparison, here is the brightness scale on my 2018 q8fn; HDR Peak 2% Window 969 cd/m² HDR Peak 10% Window 1,233 cd/m² HDR Peak 25% Window 1,278 cd/m² HDR Peak 50% Window 684 cd/m² HDR Peak 100% Window 495 cd/m² HDR Sustained 2% Window 946 cd/m² HDR Sustained 10% Window 1,200 cd/m² HDR Sustained 25% Window 1,258 cd/m² HDR Sustained 50% Window 681 cd/m² HDR Sustained 100% Window 493 Vastly better brightness stability across all windows and over twice as bright full field brightness. Even the color gamut / color volume coverage is 99% the same on these two TVs, that are 6 years apart! So color production is roughly equal yet I have vastly superior brightness stability and peak brightness. The S90D has better black level and that's it..... Both great panels but how is this real progress? There would be absolutely no real reason for someone like me to upgrade and that's just sad given that it's 6 years later.

Samsung has a color space called normal. This removes all oversaturation from football fields, and everything else in general. Samsung delivered.

The fact that Samsung bricks their own TVs is concerning. I have an LG C3, and would consider getting the Samsung but worry about making a mistake and letting an update sneak in to make it worse. That totally sucks!
Question. Do I get the same picture performance from the Samsung S90D that TV no matter what size I go with?

Ok I exchanged my Qn90c for this S90D cuz of you Quantum. Feeling a bit of guilt cuz I was getting use to the Qn90c. Now if I join your membership. Your telling me my mind will explode cuz of your settings?

What you have is incredibly unstable brightness with severe ABL and pathetic 200 nits full field brightness. There is zero real innovation with this TV and it is still not suitable for displaying HDR properly. It's the same old crap with marginally improved color production. For comparison, here is the brightness scale on my 2018 q8fn;

Vastly better brightness stability across all windows and over twice as bright full field brightness. Even the color gamut / color volume coverage is 99% the same on these two TVs, that are 6 years apart! So color production is roughly equal yet I have vastly superior brightness stability and peak brightness. The S90D has better black level and that's it..... Both great panels but how is this real progress? There would be absolutely no real reason for someone like me to upgrade and that's just sad given that it's 6 years later.
Brightness where its needed is what sets this tv apart.

Quantum, I know this is off-topic well a little, but I was wondering if you would consider reviewing the TCLQM series 1st this year only because most of the time as good as the seven series was last year it doesn’t really get much love when it first comes out And everybody who is everybody is always focused on the M8, I don’t know just thought I suggested, it would be kind of cool/change of pace. To do the QM7 first this year.
