True. I have a lg c1 and a a1 and ive tried some times but its so dark. Every time I play something on prime video they give the option to put on fimmmaker mode like its the best thig in the world because someone said so and i can stand.
The filmmaker mode demonstrates how desaturated the image perform on every Samsung TVs despite how low people can get not having knowledge about how they only push filmmaker mode and not other different modes like you have demonstrated by putting movie mode that represents accurate image.
I personally like your settings. But is it possible under your setting to do custom? Like add a bit 5%-7% more cooler? Just a personal taste. I don’t think 5%-7% cooler will throw it all off. Just a personal taste. Your setting with slight touch cooler. I might buy later on this TV and will need you help setting it up.
Unfortunately, I do not own an oled tv, but I can tell that, even though I have tried filmmaker mode following recommendations, I was never a fan. It gives me the impression of watching movies on "90s" style, I don't know how to explain better, but just say that was never my "cup of tea", and it makes me happy to hear someone that I trust with tvs commenting against Filmakermode (yes, I trust QUANTUM TV among others tv reviewers ;) )
Gotta say… your “Movie”settings are more to what myself is impressed by … I have never understood what people see in the others “calibrated” settings. This Sammy with your settings looks like a contender for TV of the year. Period.
When we got our 84" LG, I had to do IMMEDIATE calibration (not fully) because out of the box people looked straight up orange. this was end of 2022, and late last year I decided to play around with it again to make it look like the tvs in Costco that we walk in and just stare at. I did some reading and it turns out that some of the anti-noise settings it ships with just KILL the detail. I finally got it to wow me like a floor model, with all the detail and the blackest blacks and amazing color we paid for. Keep running your race and going against the grain, even when the world says you are wrong. Trust me, I know what that is like. BTW Happy Easter : )
People always will make other’s life miserable so you just keep giving us this type of content well done as always quantum I believe I have in your channel for quite some time now and you never disappoint 👌🏽
Can't wait for you to publish some general settings for the S95D that I bought this week (because i apparently have more money than sense this month :-/ )
It would be great to flip from filmaker, movie eco and standard. I have always adjusted my set from the factory or preset mode since I never liked any of them. So when I get my new 65 inch set I will get your settings and we watch mostly broadcast (cable) content.
Honestly your settings looked way better in every scene except that snowy area with the deers. I enjoyed the cool look of the Filmmaker mode and that's the only odd example where it looked good ❤❤
I don't have this TV, but based on my experience with my Samsung F4500 plasma and Sony X90L, here's my theory. When inputting a raw Rec. 709 SDR signal on my older Samsung plasma, colors look fairly rich. However, when inputting a raw Rec. 709 SDR signal on my Sony X90L 4k display in the Custom picture mode (Sony's equivalent of Filmmaker Mode) with Live Color off and all the video signal settings set to Auto, colors ARE undersaturated as you keep explaining. Yet when inputting a raw BT.2020 HDR10 signal in the Custom picture mode with the same settings, the colors are richer. This suggests to ME that the problem with reference accurate modes such as Custom and Filmmaker modes is that the display does not perform proper standards conversion, such as upconverting Rec.709 to BT.2020. Therefore, without proper standards conversion, it is best to input Rec.709 SDR signals on displays designed for the Rec.709 SDR standard, and BT.2020 HDR10 signals on displays designed for the BT.2020 HDR10 standard. I have found that separately either (1) forcing my display into BT.2020, or (2) increasing the saturation makes colors richer, but flesh tones appear too red. Yet when playing raw Rec.709 SDR content, setting Live Color to Medium seems to provide that full richness without flesh tones appearing too red. I have to remember to turn it off when inputting raw BT.2020 HDR10 signals in order to avoid oversaturation. Inotherwords, I agree with you that Filmmaker mode CAN hold back a display's potential. However, I think people on all sides of the fence are forgetting that standards have to be properly converted in order to achieve the best results. I don't think photographers/videographers, media distributors, and display manufacturers are fully aware of all these aspects because they're primarily focused on their main job in the field. If awareness can be spread and these three areas in the field can collaborate, I think Filmmaker mode could achieve creator's intent when inputting raw Rec.709 SDR signals without holding back a display's potential if proper standards conversion could be performed in order to accommodate newer displays. All A/V politics aside, I think THIS is what's REALLY going on. But unless or until things get straightened out, your work will help us get Rec.709 SDR material (1) to look as good as it does on older plasmas, and (2) to look as good as BT.2020 HDR10 material looks on newer 4K UHD displays in Filmmaker mode.
The fact is every review I have seen on the 2024 Samsung sets have stated that movie mode is accurate and recommend using filmmaker mode. LG new OLED for 2024 has showed their filmmaker mode is the most accurate and gives the movie mode on most TV. Question will you check this out on the new LG sets. They even claim their Dolby Vision is very close to what Dolby has intended. In fact their predicating LG will win the shoot out.
I have the S90D and would like to calibrate it with your settings. If I subscribe, will i be able to watch how you do it? That would be worth 5 bucks easy.
I know I commented this on your last S90D videos, too, but I gladly repeat this (as a S90C owner): FMM on those samsungs looks like life was sucked right out of those pictures. Your settings show true qdoleds potential and are leagues above "reference settings". I dont want to go back. Everytime I see the woleds (lg and sony) from family members I find the images dull in comparison
Hi thank you for showing us this but my question is how do you ask this because I have now also ordered a Samsung QN90D in 75 inches what do I have to hire please for your help! Greetings from Germany 👋🏾 😊
Your settings look great on a lot of scenes. The snow scene adds too much yellow to the scene overall. You can see the horses better but the snow looks less like how it should.
I just bought this tv this Friday. Would you recommend the AI optimization for the picture. I’m trying to get the best picture for house of dragon tonight haha 😅
Cuz NO ONE should watch that FMM. It is not a MODE its a Mater key shut eveything off --degrading image MODE> d OTHER Modes are more like a filter . FMM mode is 1 Button switch. Shut off motion, color, black, AI processing. Motion Enhancement- OFF Motion clearness- OFF Noise Reduction- OFF Digital Noise reduction-OFF Active Contrast- OFF Color Space - Auto (TV OUT of box is set to “Native” a beautiful clean natrual tone) (Auto is like weird blue washed out grey out tint) 😢😮😮 EVERYTHIGN shut off. How do u suppose t tweak that.???
Because the moment I apply my settings its not FMM anymore. However, i can ALWAYS use the FMM preset and provide exceptional settings. Never said i couldn't.
I understand that colors are better but there is an intention , it looks "cinemátic" with film maker mode. If i use correct colors like with the zebra i feel i'm watching a Discovery channel documentary.

And all these tv content creators just push it down our throats. I’m so tired of hearing the word “accurate” like who gives a f**k?
