I think it is very misleading for RTINGS to post reviews of the whole series of a given model (like this one for example S90D) where within the series different panels are used depending on the TV size. For example this review does not apply to the 85 inch model which uses a WOLED panel, not the QD OLED panel. The result of comparing the 83 inch C4 to the 85 inch S90D would lead to different conclusions. For many who come to see reviews in order to make a decision which TV to buy that may lead to great disappointment if they buy a TV with a different panel than what was reviewed. If RTINGS wants to retain the previously earned credibility they must differentiate the reviews based on the panel, not on the series. RTINGS, make the correction here on UA-cam and also on your website.
I went to BestBuy and Costco to check out the LG C4 since they have slightly different lighting conditions. I stood at the left and right edges and I couldn't notice the green tint - realistically, how far from center do people watch TV? From the center, the picture was absolutely stunning. Brightness was not an issue at all.
I wouldnt watch tv in a position that isnt lined up with the screen edge at least. If so buy a larger screen I cant imagine being more than 15-30° off center and even trying to watch the screen in reality

U got to bear in mind those are the nerd part of the reviews it's probably barely noticeable even tho i like rtings reviews, i never watch TV from an angle like that. I just went with the LG c4 and I had the choice they both have features where one is better than the other slightly but its even match up the price for the LG was better for me lol.
Hmm. Just bought my C4 77 inch a few days ago and tested the green tint viewed at an angle and I really cannot see it. I tried from multiple angles. If there is, it is extremely minuscule where someone would have to really look for it to notice anything. Even then, I’m not convinced it’s there.
Seems like the same situation from 2023, LG really should have brought MLA to the C series, or reintroduced something between C & G series like there used to be so that they can be competitive on price against the S90C/D. I like WebOS and LG's mitigation against burn in but S90C/D just seems like a no brainer over the C3/4. I wish Samsung would stop being so stubborn with Dolby Vision/DTS as well.
Samsung's second gen QD-OLED, based off of rtings testing, is superior to LG's efforts in terms of burn in mitigation. G3 had more burn in after 8 months than S95C had after 12 months. Also, DV really just isn't an issue for these TVs. The QD-OLEDs don't need it. The MLA equipped LG models don't really need it. LG is getting wise to that since some of their LCD models dropped it this year. The main benefit of DV is dynamic HDR metadata. But when you have an OLED display with perfect contrast, black levels, and high peak brightness, well, suddenly there's no need for dynamic HDR metadata. That perk goes out the window
@@stephenpatterson8056 A citate from rtings: LG WOLED. After two months, the two QD-OLED displays on this test (Samsung S95B OLED and the Sony A95K) are both showing signs of possible permanent image retention (burn-in), but the LG WOLED TVs like the LG C2 OLED and the LG G2 OLED are clean. These results bring up a few interesting questions
I'm really glad Samsung stepped into the OLED game, but personally, I just don't trust them anymore. Between the support bracket on this S90D being pushed under the motherboard, the S95B's regularly getting shipped with bent panels and our own Q60T breaking just after the warranty expired - which they all do apparently - I think they're just too much of a gamble. Add to that some weird bugs (especially in 50Hz content) and lacklustre customer support, I'm not getting a Samsung again. Tbf, LG's customer support hasn't been much better me up until now. I've been trying to report a few bugs since january, but they're still convinced it must be either a hardware issue on our c3 or something to do with the devices we're connecting to it.
You should note about heat and thermal throttling with extended HDR viewing or mostly white screenn inSDR. Essentially negating the brightness advantage mentioned ofbthe S90D
If only Samsung put more effort and attention into processing on their QD-oled models, instead of the 8K Qled's. It would had also fixed the slight lesser motion on the Samsung's vs LG & Sony tv's.
For regular usage Samsungs motion interpolation is not bad at all, artifacts are extremely rare in my experience, or at least artifacts that I can notice.
@@verttisyrjala2897 so, I guess there is no stutter problem while watching movies? I heard that the S95d fixed this even more, what settings do you make to avoid being affected by stutter, judder and blur?
Being a gamer and using my pc idk. The trade-offs are ridiculous. I have a LG C1 oled now and it's a great tv. But I'm wanting to upgrade and go bigger. With the LG having Nivdia G-Sync and Dolby Vison it's almost a no brainer. But the awesome color depth on the Samsung is hard to ignore. I can't decide!
These models are my 2 options for 42”, but with the s90d 42” not being qd OLED, and the fact that I will be sitting directly in front of my tv 99.9% of the time, is the Samsung still the clear winner? I also plan on using streaming services fairly often too, and I know the s90d doesn’t support Dolby vision, so I’m curious, would most people still choose the s90d in this scenario?
Just bought an 83 inch C3, came from a C9, which i loved. I was so disappointed to find out it had horrible off axis green color tinting, which absolutely destroyed black & white movies. Took it back and got the 77 inch S90C instead.
There is no green tint om my C3. interestingly I like the off angle picture quality more. it's weird that colors look more vibrant to my eyes when I do not watch TV sitting directly in front of it.
Can confirm how colorful and vibrant the S90D looks. I've had mine for a month now, and the only minor gripes I have are the low bitrate content smoothing (which i knew wouldn't be the greatest going in, but isn't completely terrible), and how the depth enhancer can sometimes blur the picture a tad depending on where it 'thinks' you're looking, but beyond that it's the best tv I've ever owned. It's stupid bright, has fun colour and contrast boosting options, is very versatile in game mode to go with the auto genre tone mapping, and upscales everything you could possibly want to watch so well that it feels like you're watching all of your old favourites for the first time! Could the processing be a tad better? Definitely, but this tv more than makes up for it with everything else it offers. Highly recommend, especially for the price!
How do you give the S90D a 7.5 for build when yours came with misaligned HDMI ports and the panel was bent? That sounds like horrendous quality control if something like that made it into the real world. Perhaps you just got super unlucky but it gives me real pause in dropping that much money on the S90D.
I have 3 samsung tvs one is 10 years old still going strong another one is the UA65KS8000 it's 8 years old still working and the last one I bought is the QN90A it's 3 1/2 years old works perfect while my brother had the LG C1 and it broke down he couldn't turn it on I wouldn't buy anything else except Samsung
Can you guys do a comparison of the 42-inch models? With them both being WOLED this would be a great comparison, especially for those considering each for a desktop monitor.
Which one is more reliable? A friend has has nothing but issues with Samsung s95. Boards failing and no replacement to be found, They had to give him a new TV. It happened 2x. Bad luck or bad TV?
This dude exagerates a lot with his descriptions or is clearly biased. 1000 USD is not spending "a bit more" for the G4 and the difference between both tvs in terms of image quality isn't so big as he makes it seems. I went to see both tvs personally and could not find any green tint on the lg.
The green tint on the viewing angle is unfortunate. Did you try another LG C4 to rule it out? What about at different screen sizes? Did you let LG know about this issue?
you just don’t realize it. it’s there on them all, shows up heavier depending upon content. you would notice it if it was next to another tv being compared
@@lvproductionsinc9748 I did compare it to another tv I have. There is 0 tint, only a slight brightness drop. Same goes for many others that have the C4 (I assume you don't). I also compared vs the video on the Rtings review, and I can see it clearly there, but not on mine. We'll see what LG has to say as Rtings have contacted them.
The S90D may be objectively better, but the cheaper build quality, QC issues, and pannel lottery make it an inviable pick for most sensible people looking to buy a TV that lasts more than a decade.
Meanwhile here i am returning my 4th LG C3 for QC ISSUES...and no im not a samsung fan boy I have 4 LG oleds in my home! LG has gone downhill with QC! Just google bent tv panel for LG Oleds. Dead pixels on newly shipped tvs and developing more over a few years! My LG B7 has no dead pixels and ive had it since 2018. Checked out my LG C1 and B1 and dead pixels everywhere and Ive had those tvs since 2022!
Bought a S90D on Black Friday weekend because of this RTINGS comparison. 15 days later, exactly 1 day after the return window, the S90D died completely. No standby light. Nothing. Looked it up, and there are plenty of 1 star reviews on Samsung's own site stating that this is a common issue. The Samsung's power supply just craps out. Samsung refuses to let me return it, despite being just 1 day outside the return window. They want to send out a repair tech, but that won't happen for a couple of weeks. I've seen owner reviews stating that this has happened multiple times with their TVs. On top of this, the build quality of the Samsung is terrible. The ports in the back are flimsy. Plugging in the power cable or HDMI cables you can feel the ports moving around / being pushed in. It feels terrible. Honestly, unless you're looking at the C4 vs the S90D side by side, I really can't tell a difference. They both look amazing. I don't want to have a TV where I risk it being broken for weeks at a time while waiting for repairs. Should have gotten the LG, but was swayed by reviews like this.
I'm looking to buy a 42" oled for a PC gaming monitor. Are there any reviews or suggestions on c4 42" vs S90D 42"? I know the Samsung uses the LG panel, I'm interested in the differences in brightness and image processing. For example, I've read many places the C4 is dimmer in gaming mode, is this also an issue on the S90D?
I got a 65 inch c4 for 1350 during black friday with a LG soundbar. Couldn't justify spending all that extra for the S90D. Happy with it so far, and 0 tint from side views.
I also went for the 65C4 to replace my 55C9. I have other LG OLEDs and didn't want to mix/calibrate/learn different quirks with another TV type. Plus, my Sonos soundbars, Xfinity cable box, Blu-ray player, PlayStation, and using as PC monitor is all figured out with the other OLEDs.
Hey, Samsung does not have Dolby support. If I connect this TV with apple 4K TV and since apple 4K TV box support dolby atmos, would it solve the problem in Samsung tv?

Sticking with the LG for reliability. I still have my C2, no issues. I bought a high-end Samsung the same time i bought the C2. It died 8 months after purchase 😢
I just pulled the trigger on a 55” C4 as the black friday deals made the s90d and c4 equal priced. I was leaning towards the s90d yet in the UK the only QD-OLED version is the 65” all the rest are WOLED which made the choice easier
i just saw in my local electronic stores for both tv , not side by side , but to my eyes why C4 picture quality wins over S90D ?? also LG C4 looks more glossy compared to S90D . Is this just my own preference ?? what do you think ?
4:35 The 10% window really doesn't show how much more dim game mode is on the C4. In the real scene test the Landscape Pool scene is 60% brighter in movie mode than game mode.
I added the Sonos soundbar/sub/surrounds to my LG OLEDs (Arc+65C4, Arc Ultra+77C1, Beam2+55C1). The LG OLEDs is wall mounted, the speakers are pretty small, and point downward. The TV speakers are not enough if you want full 5.1 or Atmos audio to fill a large room.
77 S90 D WOLED at 1900/ 77 C4 is 3299 Euros. Samsung is cheaper due to Employee discounts etc. 65 S90D QDOLED at 1100 euros. Which one will you recommend.
Im gussing this is the QD oled youre talking about. Samsung makes WOLED for the 55" in europe. So i was wondering (along with other europeans i guess) which is the best WOLED the c4 or the s90d?
Do you know the difference (and which is best) between these two Samsung S90D? S90DATXXU (QD-OLED panel) and S90DAEXXU (W-OLED panel) ? I'm in Switzerland and I don't know which one we do have. I am not sure we do have the choice actually.
Do LG TVs look more blue than others? I currently have one that’s less than 3 years old and it has gone blue so I’m looking to buy another TV but I don’t know if I will go with another LG.
Seen your review multiple times. Bought S90D 65 inch. After purchasing I realised it comes with tizen os. And basic apps such as vlc is not available. I fail to understand why you blabar everything which doesn't mean anything to users but not mention absolute lack of apps on samsung tv. Wow!
For Samsung if you want a qled OLED in the USA you want to look for FXZA that the end of the serial number on the box or in store on the sizes any Samsung s90d ending with FXZA on its serial number is a QD-OLED panel in the US
I get that I'm seeing these TVs via compressed UA-cam and my computer monitor but even from the start, it was patently obvious that the S90D absolutely stomps on the C4 in head to head picture quality. The problem is that the LG has let the C series stagnate, there have been no game changing improvements to it since the C2. LG has only spent money on and iterated on the G series. Now if only Samsung would step up its QA....
I have a 65 inches C3 since an year and i've noticed the green tint straight out of the box. That really bothered me so I decided to get a replacement but, even it's slightly less noticeable, even the 2nd unit has the same issue so I decided to keep it. If this problem was already present on last year model (C3) i wonder why none mentioned it, i would have probably gone with the s90c that was a very tempting alternative for me at that time. Nevertheless, the green tint is noticeable only when watching programs with very large areas of light colours, like sports for ex., but not when watching general stuff and movies, so, apart from this, the lg C series remains a great collection.
I would love to see anyone do a comparison of the S90D QD-OLED to the S90D WOLED version. If anyone has done it please point me in their direction. Without it I am not sure anyone can make a proper S90D review as customers often will not know if the review applies to the one they are getting.
It's all size based with the S90D. If you're getting a 55, 65, or 77 you're getting QD-OLED. Any other size will be WOLED. As for comparison, this video essentially is showing you that. The WOLED S90D models will basically look like the C4, except maybe without the off angle color tint
@@stephenpatterson8056 Unfortunately there are a couple problems with this comment. 1. The sizes you refer to only apply to the US market. Europe, for example, seems only to be getting the QD-OLED version in 65". 2. There are many problems with assumption based assessments. Just one example, Sony uses Samsung panels and those TVs review very differently.
Great review. I looked at the 2 units side by side and both are very good. My senses review picked Samsung. The bright highlights were not washed out (there was still color present) and a much sleeker remote. The sound quality was a bit better in the LG.
During these comparison if we get to see each TV's playing different type of 4K contents one by one running on both the TV's at the same time in dark room and bright room, while you dictating its pros and cons, it would be nice, and gives a overall idea about image quality which matches each individuals taste. We barely seen any video on both the TV's in a TV comparison video.
Green tint on the C4? I have seen a couple models and have not noticed that. Wonder if you got a bad model as you are the only one claiming the green tint issue.

Not a personalized response. Most people watch only from streaming services. Netflix UHD tier offers Dolby Vision. Wouldn't that make the LGs picture quality superior over the non Dolby Vision? I'm very much enjoying my C3 with Dolby Vision. Makes all the difference.
Samsung: better at HDR 4K due the QD Oled panel Samsung less expensive within few months LG better at SDR/FHD due to the processing LG better 3D effect Each one has his strenghts. Samsung the better the source the more it shines, LG more all rounder
What's not being said is that on all REC 709 content (which is virtually 100% of content), both of these TV's have color accuracy so precise that you won't see the difference with the naked eye. Last year's S90C vs C3, I was in RC Willy and they had an identical SDR feed on the C3 and S90C and they looked identical to me in their filmmaker modes. There simply wasn't any appreciable difference between them, so I picked the C3 because it has more robust burn-in protection features. Also, this video's HDR comparison they failed to tell you that Samsung doesn't have Dolby Vision and LG does and Dolby Vision is fantastic because LG is the only manufacturer who does Dolby Vision correctly and this year's model I believe let's you have fully accurate Filmmaker mode with Dolby Vision by default. IMO, the C4 is the winner due to the Dolby Vision and better picture processing that LG has had the past few years that is neck and neck with Sony's XR Clear processing. Samsung is still a fine OLED and frankly either one you buy will give you a high-end picture. Any differences in the picture with Filmmaker modes on is pretty much not something you'll notice or worry about once you are watching the set at home with a good content source.
The kicker is within the rec 709 space it’s the C4 that has better color saturation. So frustrating that rtings based the comparison upon measurements and not how the panels are optimized with content.
@@johnb4905 - In all honesty, when I saw the S90C vs C3 with identical video feeds, they looked so close I could have been fine with either, but C3's Dolby Vision is stunning with the right content but Samsung doesn't have Dolby Vision. As an example, the best picture I saw on the C3 in the last 6 months of owning it is the Disney+ Percy Jackson and the Olympians in Dolby Vision. It's amazing looking quality. The Samsung I bet is fantastic with high quality bitrates from streams too. I also really like the 1080 to 4k upconvert on the C3, which on my Netflix account it's only 1080p and looks fantastic even at an 8 feet viewing distance.
Bro you are on youtube, haha. No way to tell which one looks better and you cant trust a lot of youtubers because they could be bias towards one tv and their eyes are different than ours. Best thing to do is order both and test them for a week and send back the one you dont want.
I’m looking for a new bedroom tv and I’ve narrowed it down to two. The C4 & S95D, I’ve ruled out the S90D & Bravia 8 and I see the C4 has been getting quite the glowing reviews as of just recently so they must have dropped some new firmware to address some of the issues between this comparison and now. As someone who owns a G2 & QN90B as my two main sets I can also confidently say that not having Dolby Vision on the Samsung is a total non issue.
Bravia 8 will be the more accurate among the C4 and S90D due tomSony's typically good if not great image processing, è 22nd 99 I 9-0-1Cbut will not match Samsung's color brightness because the S90D has a quantum dot layer.
Both tv s have a panel care setting to help reduce burn in I have had my C4 for 6 months and use it for gaming movies ECT and have not noticed any burn in or image retention. Also the TV has a auto setting that does a light pixel refresh after every 4 hours of use it starts when you turn the tv off
Overall the samsung has the better picture quality and that is a primary thing u should look for when comparing tvs along with quality. Both reputable names both good, but the clearer better brighter picture quality made me choose samsung. it's a undeniable difference when they are side by side.

So Samsung's been refusing to disclose whether their budget and midrange OLEDs use WOLED or QD-OLED, your reviews pretty much conclude that the S90D is QD (or at least these batches are), but could you take a look at the S85D to confirm its panel tech?
S85D will almost certainly be all WOLED; S90D in 55, 65, 77 will be 2nd gen QD-OLED; S95D will be 3rd gen QD-OLED. Only real annoyance is with the S90 series offering various sizes in WOLED as well. It would be a more concise lineup to just have the full S85 line be WOLED, S90 just have the 3 2nd gen sizes and S95 have the 3 3rd gen sizes
@@boltongame5054 55 and 65 S90Cs are all QD-OLED. But they may either be a 1st gen or 2nd gen panel. The 2nd gen panels perform a bit better. All 77 models are 2nd gen QD-OLED because there were never 1st gen panels in that size.
which is better? Is the Samsung only better in color saturation? The purchasing decision would be based on the taste for more intense or natural colors.

Any help/insight would greatly be appreciated.
You CANNOT go wrong with either one. It’s all personal preference, regardless of what you hear on the internet. Both have strengths and weaknesses. I went LG mainly because they’ve been in the game a long time and build quality is ridiculously good. More than enough color.. I honestly couldn’t imagine having anymore (depending on your settings). The self charging remote has never died yet, and I never put it on the usb charger.
Looks WAY better than any of the budget $600 and under TVs I tried prior.
I really want an OLED, but Im not a rich guy and this one still works...
This green tint argument is bullsh&t
I have been LG guy but after my sister bought the S90D and I saw in person in real world condition.....the S90D is legit. I just wish it had DV.
Yeah no Dolby vision is a killer.
I think the S90D just wins overall. You're getting a lot at a lower price compared to other flagship expensive tvs, in my opinion.
Agree mla should have been on c series. Especially because g series in some countries dont come with a stand, without extra ordering these.

A citate from rtings:
LG WOLED.
Might be smart to mention that not all sizes of the S90D are QD-OLEDs..

Have you decided?
I got the same. It's wonderful.
How noticeable was the size difference or you quickly adjusted?
I have a 77 inch S89c and it is glorious

There is no green tint om my C3. interestingly I like the off angle picture quality more. it's weird that colors look more vibrant to my eyes when I do not watch TV sitting directly in front of it.
I'm in the market for a 42" or 48" model. Is the S90D with the WOLED panel still better than the C4?
Yes
Looks better in the store to me but don't know about calibrated
Never use contrast enhancers

This dude exagerates a lot with his descriptions or is clearly biased. 1000 USD is not spending "a bit more" for the G4 and the difference between both tvs in terms of image quality isn't so big as he makes it seems. I went to see both tvs personally and could not find any green tint on the lg.
The green tint on the viewing angle is unfortunate. Did you try another LG C4 to rule it out? What about at different screen sizes? Did you let LG know about this issue?

Samsung: better at HDR 4K due the QD Oled panel
Samsung less expensive within few months
LG better at SDR/FHD due to the processing
LG better 3D effect
Each one has his strenghts.

@@jollama I did it, but I didn't found any valid information at all.
@@michaelvantonder Thanks, bro. Are u really sure?
@@gustavo789ful Claims to have not found any valid info, but will go along with the first UA-cam comment he sees. Ok buddy
So you know in Canada if the 65 model s90c is a qd Oled panel ?
@@boltongame5054 55 and 65 S90Cs are all QD-OLED. But they may either be a 1st gen or 2nd gen panel. The 2nd gen panels perform a bit better. All 77 models are 2nd gen QD-OLED because there were never 1st gen panels in that size.
When will you review the SONY BRAVIA 9?
yes please this
which is better?
Is the Samsung only better in color saturation?
The purchasing decision would be based on the taste for more intense or natural colors.

My 8 year old LG OLED 55EF950V gave up last week, I replaced it with a LG C4 55 inch. I also own a LG CX 48". I cannot see any difference between the C4 and CX. However, I believe the 8 year old TV was superior in image quality.
Did you turn off the power saver
You've got power saver on 100%
@@arrowhead6658 I thought I had as I went to the preferred picture settings, but alas not so. Much better now thanks
Is this tye C4 evo panel?
Do they do 1440p 144hz as well ? If you set 1440p inside the settings on a PC game
That SHOULD work. Don't see why it wouldn't. I have an S90C and 4K 144hz worked flawlessly when my PC was direct connected. Now I'm running it through an AVR so had to back it down to 120hz
I'm confused I want lg g4 but Maybe there is better than g4 ?

LG g4 is the best your gonna pay a lot more though then these models
Here is my plight and I wish someone could flat out help me. I have a 12 year old Panasonic 42" LED flat screen and it's time for an upgrade as the TV is showing slight signs of burn-in. I have been looking into countless reviews and comparisons on the LG C4 55 OLED which is a WOLED and the Samsung S90D QD-OLED (this is my price point). Now here is where I truly need help, I'm a movie collector and have a MASSIVE dvd/blu ray collection which in most cases will never get an UHD upgrade. So that being said I'm seeking, yes an UHD tv, that best views picture quality on non-UHD hard media. This is something that is very vague in most reviews.
Also it’s more than bright enough. I’ve had to turn the brightness down multiple times on my c4. I’m in love with my choice. I hope you feel the same way about yours. Good luck.
Is it true that the Samsung S90D 48” does not have a QD-OLED screen and instead has a WOLED panel? I heard that the QD-OLED technology is only available for larger screen sizes like a 55”?
Yes it true
And for my PS5 Samsung is the one ?
