I have the same problem but my engine light is on (MAF code) so I’m cleaning out the throttle body today. Got 120,000 miles on it so I’m sure it’s black.
Should the throttle body valve move freely? I cleaned mine and it wasn't moving freely while I was cleaning. I left it as-is and when I turned the car on it sounded better than it has for a while (not as rumbly). Did not go through any relearn procedure either since I don't have the tool.
No it shouldn't move freely. Its under tension but you can still move the plate by pushing on the top part. The relearn procedure was only for the car I used for the video since there was a check engine on it. For other car, its good to clean the throttle body to restore normal idle
@@OneTrickTech I appreciate you getting back to me and your videos. My check engine light came on with code P0101 right before a planned long drive and this helped me out a lot.
I recently had to have a new cvt trandmission replaced in my 2017 nissan sentra all other full engine checked at 100% passed ,but did get told my throttle chanber needs cleaning as soon as possible.which i can do in about a week at the dealers ,i was lucky my car is still under warranty for the cvt transmission which was no cost to me , i was greatful .how much is a throttle cleaning cost dealer told me 100 or so dollars. Is it best to have dealer do the cleaning or the really good mechanic i use .will it cost about the same price of 100 or so dollars
depending on the dealer hourly rate they might charged 45min or 1 hour resulting in around 100$ for the job. fairly easy job, if you are mechanically inclined you can try to do it yourself. no specialty tools required
I got a transmission on 2013 Nissan Sentra revs pick up to high if you give it too much right foot . Any help ideas on that please it goes in all gears smooth no noises . Any help appreciated no check engine light either drives fine if you drive it gingerly 👍
Make sure you have had a CVT oil change every 30k miles with those cvts. And keep the coolant at proper levels. That’s important to maintain the transmission.
@SuperJackass what I found out from my mechanic is no matter if I or he cleaned the throttle body or replaced the mass air flow sensor. The car needs to go back to nissan for a reboot of the computer system (can't remember what is actually called at the momment) the dealer is the only one that can do this aside from a few mom and pop shops. If the system is not rebooted, your check engine light will continue to pop up. Just the reboot alone was $245. I tried finding a solution online, came up short, and ended up paying up.
p2188 system too rich meaning there's is too much fuel during combustion or not enough air. Check for faulty injectors, dirty mass air flow sensor or clogged air filter.
Can a defective throttle body cause P0101 CEL code? I took my car to dealership after seeing CEL for the first time and they diagnosed it to be due to defective throttle body. I later on went to AutoZone for a free check on the CEL and their printout shows Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction. In both trips, the code was P0101. The suggested first line of action on Autozone Printout was to Repair Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring. While I am far from being even a rookie mechanic, I cannot comprehend why the suggested fix would vary from location to location. I do understand, AutoZones one is shallow diagnostic and may not reveal the whole truth. So, I am curious if P0101 can be diagnosed with certainty to be caused by defective throttle body and not anything else? Put another way, how would a mechanic come to this conclusion and exclude bad sessor wiring as suggested by Autoze Printout?
Do you have a Nissan with a P0101? If so I was a specific video to fix the P0101 on the Nissan since its a common problem. For the AutoZone diagnostic they kind a give you a general direction to look. Its hard to tell exactly what that problem is without looking at scanner data. A good mechanic will do various tests to make sure only the defective part, or wiring is fixed.
Your right, my P0101 was that the air cleaner intake hose had holes on it from the back not the front, the car started smelling like gas when driving, thank God, my boyfriend stopped at AutoZone checked the code and then he checked the hose, replaced it

I just recently researched this proceedure and watched yours vedio because you did the cleaning for a 2017 nissan sentra, thank you
D.I.Y. Is in full effect!!!! Great video, thanks!!!!!!
This DIY is perfect. Can you make a DIY for cleaning rough IDLE. I mean cleaning Idle air control value
Gonna try this out. Been getting a little rough idling sometimes and I’m at 100k miles. Spark plugs have already been changed out in the past year
Thinking I have the same task, did it help?
@@alexanderhamilton1976 It did smooth out the idle on the car. However my car did have other underlying problems that I still need to sort out.

Thanks, God bless you !
Can a bad throttle body cause the car to no accelerate as good or make it shoot up rpms while barely going 40?
Yes. That could also be a symptom of the transmission being bad.

Did you disconnect the battery prior to all of this?
Do you have specifics on the rubber gasket that you replaced? Want to make sure I have everything before I open it up.

You only have to relearn if you change your Throttle Body, because it’s a new part, but not if you just cleaning it.

just basic socket, pliers for the hose clamps and some brake cleaner and scotch brite

only when you replace them. this is just a cleaning

yes same process but probably just a different bolt setup.

brake cleaner?
yes
