You can use a scotch brite pad it's just as good as it needs to polish and clean. For the people: Don't forget some throttle bodies will need position recalibration afterwards or else your idle will suffer.
@@donniev8181 Most do not bother if you touch the throttle, it just resets it and uses the settings it already knows or it's completely dumb and reads analog voltage depending on the physical position of the TPS, but many cars i've seen from the 00's do need recalibration either because of rough idle or to assure you get maximum performance even if the throttle is off by a few % due to material and installation changes or even wear rather than programming. On a standalone ECU i have i can do it from my cellphone, but i know people who were scratching their heads about what went wrong after they cleaned it and needed to go to the dealer to connect it to propertiary software so to do the job. Those cars who have integrated relearn features are cool, at least if you know about it when you need it.
Water cleans carbon better than anything else. Water actually destroys carbon. Talk to some old school mechanics about using spritzes of water into the intake to clean carbon out of the intake and off of the valves.
You are not supposed to manually move a electronic throttle body, I did this on my Acura and learned the hard way it took the thing like 2 weeks to relearn idle even after doing the idle relearn procedure it still idled funky for 2 weeks
So first off my hat is off to you for actually being a sane person and doing regular maintenance on your Suburban. You putting it on UA-cam is a benefit most unfortunately take for granted. In this video I have a suggestion for the next time you need to clean carbon build up off of engine components and what not try using a magic eraser (Mr clean makes a magic eraser sheet 3" × 5" × ¹/¹⁶" it will be so much less abrasive. You can order a box of no name brand ones off of temu 50 CT for less than $10 and there are endless applications when it comes to using on automobiles. NEVER use on paint, but the 2 biggest things I use them for in my detailing business is polishing a windshield before rainx coatings for efficiency and for removing oxidation and grime from headheadlight before polishing down and applying acrylic coating
Is that off your 5.7L suburban? If so was it a pain to take off and was there a gasket to be replaced? I've been wanting to do that on my 96 Chevy Silverado 5.7L vortec but I'm afraid to take it off and mess something up?
Man someone unplug that thing on my sister car and I caught pure hell trying recalibrate it the shop couldn't do it I kept trying and it finally took it after some prayer 🛐 ❗
I don't see the problem if it's disconnected and you are gentle with the plate, just sounds like someone parroting someone like Scotty Kilmer. I've cleaned the electronic TBs on a couple of Z's and nothing was damaged moving the throttle by hand with battery power isolated. As long as you're gentle I don't see how you will damage anything. At worst you just need to do an idle relearn.
Ummm don't do this! Those are coated with a Teflon coating That's why you use an intake cleaner and not Carb Cleaner! And don't forget the Most important things, Clean the IAC Valve and use new gasket not silly cone

All modern cars have throttle relearn procedures.

Underrated comment
I’m suspicious.

do not disconnect or take it out if u dont know what ur doing

0000 steel wool works great too for all sorts of things like this
Don't open a throttle by wire like that unless you are ready to buy another one. That's asking for problems
BS
Please, DO NOT move the butterfly on electronic throttle body like this
only if it’s still plugged in
Don't forget the butterfly edge

Never ever touch the butterfly valve on an electric throttle body

Sanding removes material causing more airflow
I use 400 soft grip sandpaper and bit water shine up too!
Also, You don’t
have to disconnect
any battery terminals .
I try to when Im disconnecting electric things. I swear I’ve heard that there is a chance it could pop a fuse if you plug it in while it’s powered
Some cars you do. Remove neg, pull fuses for throttle, no calibration needed.
Nice work
Amsoil power foam throttle body cleaner
Nice job!
So what does that dirt do?
The carbon can keep that plate from opening like it should
Can cause a sticky throttle off idle, cause a poor idle also.
Is it ok to twisting the coin?
No protective coating? Why even use throttle body cleaner if you end up using sandpaper
I use mothers mag polish to clean up the chamber of the throttle body
Carbon don't belong there. Maybe find the cause

Because U R using shyt cleaner, try some b12
