It’s certainly very water repellent. The question now is how long does the protection last on the carpet? Let us know with a follow up video in a few months. I’d like to find a fabric protectant that I can tell customers will last for six months. This product would be an easy sell to customers that have light colored carpeting in their vehicle.
Super easy to use. Found your channel via Pan. Do you have a video on the 303 Fabric Guard? What’s your go to fabric sealant for interior seats, mats and convertible roofs?
Appreciate you subscribing. I have enough 303 to get a video for it. Thanks for the good idea. The reason I like 303 is that it works and it’s affordable. I have not worked on convertible tops but Mike Phillips is a big fan of ragg top and so that is what I would go with since I trust Mike.
This one nothing. Nobody has sat in the back so vacuum and then the fabric coating applied. At the moment I have been using the 3 P&S carpet cleaners which work good. I’ll clean my driver side floor mat with them and then coat it.
Always wondered this and was wondering if anyone could answer. On principle, these fabric protectants are all hydrophobic and don’t let water penetrate. My question is, if a stain does penetrate into the fibers (for example a salt stain), would these protectants not make it more difficult to remove the stain. Like how is your hot water extractor going to work if the water is beading off rather than fully penetrating the fiber. Am I overthinking this? Or if you have a hot water extractor, are you better to just clean with no protectant
Now this is a great insight and a great question. One that I do not have the answers to. This is my thought which may not be entirely accurate. If the protectant is on the fiber and a stain gets into the area, I would think the protectant would not allow that stain to permanently set in and allow it to be removed easier. Now if the protectant has broken due to abrasion with the feet getting in and out, the possibility of that protectant could be removed to the point where a stain may set in. I would be curious of one of these makes it easier to clean up salt from those that deal with snow in the winter. The other thing I do not know is how chemical resistant these fabric protectants are and how much heat they can handle if using a hot water extractor or steam. My philosophy over the years has been to simply clean the carpets more often to keep them clean and looking nice. I don't drink or eat in my car so that is another reason why I don't particularly use them. A fabric protectant would make sense if someone has kids where they may spill their drink or food to help to a degree. Very good question and thought.
The main reason being I don’t drink anything or eat anything in the car. For the longest time I was using Optimum’s carpet cleaner which had a polymer that would make it easier to clean. It did not leave the fibers hydrophobic. If you have kids or pets then a fabric coating would make sense to have that barrier of protection from liquids.
@@MikeGDetailing No kids or pets, so I guess I'll stay away from it. Thanks, I trust your professional opinion! Since we are on the opic of the carpets, would you recommend buying a big time unit like a Mytee, or is it not worth it? Hey Mike, I’m wondering if I have this coating on my car carpets, will it hinder the ability of my hot water extractor to penetrate the fibers and remove salt stains? Also, you said you would use it on car floor mats, but not the carpeted floor In the car. Just curious as to what your reasoning is behind this. I have rubber floor mats but was considering applying it to the carpet in my car
@@lucasmilne1511 should not be an issue with the extractor. It is optional if you would like to put it on the entire carpet. My reasoning is the floor mats do a brunt of the work.
Thank you for the review, this is the product I'm really wanting for 😀
The Guz! Just bought this for a new car. You answered my questions about the product.
Glad I could help. Let me know what you think of it.
Cool demo near the end

303 doesn't last long at all. Car Pro 2.0 is good for at least 3 months You get what you pay for.

Hey Mike just wondering why you moved away from fabric protectants in the past. Considering whether it’s worth putting in my car. Cheers

How's the smell?
Wear a mask when applying this type of products.
Does not have a strong smell. I agree about wearing a mask if using it inside the car.
