Thanks. You couldn’t have timed the upload better for me. I just cleaned the seats in my daughter’s Audi a1. 3 years of grime and water stains came out really easily using my Shark carpet cleaner so have been looking at something to protect them. I had gtechnic in my basket ready to order but due to the price was waiting to finish a bit of research. You saved me the time. I think she’ll be impressed.
Hey Dave... you were saying that you were not going to be doing as much in this channel in the future as you were for concentrating on your new one.... hope that's not the case as i find the video's very helpful and informative, being somewhat new to the detailing game (for myself, not as a business!). Keep up the good work!
I've used the G-Techniq on convertible roofs and it behaves just like it did on the mat for a long time. You _can't_ apply a second coat of it later on because the product will just run off like the water does.
Great exposure to decent brands. What works for me when using Gtechiq Smart Fab V2 is to use the nitril glove that you should be wearing is to rub it into the fabric and apply that second layer over the top making the product work deeper into the fibers. Then finish off with a brush to set a nice pattern.
Gtechniq products are some of the best. The smart fabric is amazing, but it is VERY Strong smelling. But you see the amazing results. Great video as always thank you!
Brilliant video Dave What a total different outcome I love these comparisons when you can see a product really working well. Great channel great episode
Brilliant test. My old A3 is cursed by having a pale cloth interior. It's time to break out the wet clean gear again and I am looking for something to protect it afterwards. Not only does the G Techniq product work so well but I could tell how good the trigger was after your first pull. I'm a Turtle Wax fan as they have so many genuinely good and well priced products but they are soundly beaten here.
@@Glories999 Yay! It’s an old 8P 2.O TDi. Still rattle free. OK, so most of the bonnet and back bumper are also more base layer than clearcoat but at least I don’t worry where I park it 😂
@@Glories999 Feel for you on the insurance mate. I am an old git so insurance is trivial. I was going to give it to a new driver in the family till we discovered it would be £5.5K insurance 😱 Went with a 1.2 Polo instead ...
Turtle Wax may have diluted the product more so to enable more even coverage, and therefore 2 or more coats are required. Also the Turtle Wax bottle is twice the size, so from a cost point of view 2 or more coats is fair. Always test the product as per the instructions from the manufacturer.
👍🤔 I always enjoy watching your channel. The problem i have is i put lots of wax and polish on my small collection of classic vehicles. But then so much durst sticks to them ,like a magnet. Even just sitting in my garage !!. Any ideas what I could try ?. Thanks...
Interesting just to see the difference,no comparison really and it’s like you say it’s a time factor aswell you don’t want to be going back the next day to add another coat ,another good one 👍
I've never had much luck with any waterproofing sprays apart from Fabsil. Good idea to do a follow up video but I'm thinking the TW stuff will disappoint. Good luck with your channel, i hope you can weather the storm and that the viewings bounce back.
Good video Dave. Silly question, and thank you for confirming previously that you use a cold water pressure washer : when you hand wash cars, do you fill the buckets up with warm or cold water?
Thank you for the brilliant video Dave. Gtechniq completely destroyed Turtle Wax in that test💪. Turtle Wax products do seem rather hit and miss whereas Gtechniq products are high quality.
Well thats mildly disappointing information :( Not you mate, the TW. I have used GT fabric Abv2, and I still have a cloth that is totally hydrophobic to this day. I just bought the TW to do my Z4 softtop roof, and I was going to stick with the GT, but I thought I try something new. Hopefully it works better with the TW fabric cleaner, but yeah. I might report back on the results
As this is a floor mat, it would have been very interesting if you would have repeated the test, but also rubbed over the mat with a shoe a few times - as customers will do - and then pour water over it to show if you really „protect“ anything with a spray.
Funnily enough you say that I already filmed just that yesterday because I wanted to apply 2 layers of turtle Wax to make it fair based on the application process it says on the bottle
@@epicautomotivedetailing perfect! Another aspect you could look into - as you already said that the Gtechniq smells like death - are ingredients and the corresponding health and safety concerns. Those products, especially when used inside a car and sprayed, can do serious harm, but some are worse than others and that‘s an aspect that becomes more and more important.
trust me strongest is not the best! the stronger the chemical, the harsher the effects on certain trim. Their are lots of safe interior cleaners out there such as infinity wax, koch chemie, yum cars to name a few
Very cool video👍 it's funny you mentioned the bottle leak and you said it while holding a g technique bottle, I've spilled 2 bottles of g techniques tar and glue remover , good chemicals but the leak ruins everything something wrong with them bottles😯👍🤣
I love gtechnic products this a great product like all there products I use many and a uk company. Turtle wax have brought so many products out in last few yrs and they have turned there company round but lately there products are wanting for me but there marketing is good and plenty of u tubers will say how good there stuff is now but it not the case good job mate
Don't get me wrong if I had used 2 applications this would be considered as being good as you will see in a follow up video. but I didn't want to give one side more application than the other. Some turtle Wax products are great. I used the inside job yesterday for the first time and was very impressed
It doesn't say that so I just followed instructions. As I said in comments follow up video is coming because I had to make the decision to spray one application on the mat for tw
I can't honestly say it's for every piece of fabric as I've only tried it on a few. This was the first time it darkened the fabric. The lambo I used it on before was fine so maybe I'll try a few other surfaces
Why? There is a follow up video to this one because in a perfect world I would have to spray this twice but for the reasons I mentioned I chose not to. So in the follow up video it has 2 applications and will be revealed soon 🙏

Hi dave ive used g- techniq a few times and always got great results
Yeah it's mega
Morning Dave. great video, the smart fabric is the only one i ever use a bit pricey but it just works. May the detailing gods be kind to you today :)
Worth every penny that stuff
Nice video, as always. I go away from detailing products for fabrics, and use Fabsil for interiors and wheel arch "carpets".
Great shout for the arches
Use a gloved hand to help spread the smart fabric around to ensure good coverage
great shout
Interesting video Dave
I’ve always used fabsil in the past but it would be interesting to see how the Gtech compares to Geon fabric coat
I'm going to buy some other products. Maybe like a tournament

Wonder if this is similar to waterproof fabric spray which you can pick up now in the pound shop ?

Gtechniq I1 is awesome, I even use it on my Nikes and workboots too (only lasts 1 month on the boots tho).
Interesting idea worth a try
Can I use them on clothing? Thinking rain jackets….
I would say yes but be careful with some things as i checked today and it made the mat go quite stiff so worth testing on something like a rag first
