  • This video shows how to implement a panadapter for the IC-7300. This technique works for all models of the RSP. We cover how to share the antenna between the rig and the RSP and show two possible techniques. Then we go over the necessary steps to configure the software to seamlessly synchronize the rig with SDRuno.

    Had much trouble trying set up this using other videos, which swept across much setting up. But this video got me there in minutes. Cheers.

    Adding the KD2C's PAT V RF tap board will provide a buffered RF out for the IC-7300 for $27

    the installation of the RX-73ion SMA connections... are they easily reversed? are they plug and play inside the radio or soldered in place?

    Thanks allot for the video. I have an RSP duo and was thinking of purchasing a IC-7300 and the PTRX-7300 Pan adapter. Question: Will I be able to control the decimation (on the SDR uno software and also the BW? I would like to do this and have capability of diversity reception if possible. Thanks

      @SDRplayRSP  4 роки тому

      Yes to both, but note you will not see the Decimation options if you use the Band framing function.

    Hello, can I use my old Ft-757GX?
    I assume yes taking the right IF point.
    FT-757GX is having only one way comm ussing CAT System, it will be a problem?
    Thanks

    I'm having a problem where when using WSJT-X that when it keys up the rig to transmit it changes the mode from usb-d to rtty every time it keys up any ideas? Otherwise I have the setup working correctly. System = Win 10 PC, IC-7300, PTRX-7300 pandapter, RSPdx, Omnirig, My settings in omnirig are the same as this video. Need a fix or a way to turn omnirig on and off. I can't find omnirig in task manager either must be under a different name. Any ideas would be great. Thanks for doing the videos.

      William Hampton quick answer is to deselect RSYN1 in RX Control window, but then your command to key the rig won’t go through either. Have you tried connecting WSJT-X directly to the rig? You can also experiment with turning off Sync RX mode in RX Control ORIG settings.

    Thanks for this tutorial. It has me really thinking this is something I would like to do to enhance my 7300, BUT can you tell me if by doing this, does it tie up the 7300s USB port so I can no longer direct connect to the rig via my logging software (N1MM)? Can I have the best of both worlds? Or is it one or the other. Thanks!

      Im thinking both should work, I want to add an external pan adapter to my 7300 and do ft-8 ...im considering the ptx 7300 adapter which allows you to also use the tuner connection

      You can use the EXTIO dll to interface N1MM to the RSP. I believe you could probably also daisy chain the control from N1MM to SDRuno to the rig, but we haven't tried that.

    Will this work with the IC-7100? If so, what modifications to your instructions for the 7300 should I apply to the 7100 setup?

      I'm trying to do just that now. looking at this I don't see why it shouldn't work with option 1) with the sdr splitter. Not sure about option 2 and getting the rf passthrough though, I'm not good enough at electronics to venture out this way. Tell me if you've managed to make this work

      Rig control has not been implemented in SDRconnect yet. You can see the features list of the Preview version on the SDRconnect page.

    I installed this option into my new Icom 7300 but I noticed the fit is less than stellar. While it seems to function, the outer nuts securing the two SMA connectors don't permit the back edge of the metal case to seat properly. As such, the case is slightly bowed where it goes across the connectors and the downturned edge, or lip, of the case prevents the SMA connector from being screwed on all the way. I find it strange there's no mention of this by those who've installed this component in their IC-7300 transceivers.

    • @SDRplayRSP
      @SDRplayRSP  3 роки тому

      you can help it a bit by aligning the nuts to have the flat horizontal on top. If it was my own setup I'd probably take a file to it and make the fit better!

      @@SDRplayRSP Yes, that was the first thing i tried but didn't make much of a difference. I've since removed the adapter and written it off as another bad purchase :>\

    Done in a few minutes with a K3. Although here's one to think about. My pc is an old one. Swing the tuning knob of the K3, then SDRUNO will follow but not quite fast enough, bit slow actually. The info van from VRX to TRX pulls the K3 back so to say. So I will not implement it.

    • @SDRplayRSP
      @SDRplayRSP  4 роки тому

      ariebomba the two should track instantaneously, I suspect you have an issue with your Omnirig settings

    • @ariebomba
      @ariebomba 4 роки тому

      @@SDRplayRSP The K3 tracks the SDRPlay instantaniously, no problem whatsoever. A jump in frequency from the K3 isn't a problem either. Omnirig settings are OK by that standard. Also when turning the tuning knob all runs OK.
      Only thing is that I also have other software running like N1MM, etc. I use the wellknown LP-bridge software as a portreplicator and here is where trouble starts. There must be a delay somewhere that during the tuning of the K3, SDRUNO is behind a bit and sends its frequency back via omnirig (VRX to Rig is on) so that the K3 goes two steps forward and pulled one step back by SDRUNO. That is a bad thing. That can be solved by switching VRX to Rig control off, but that's something I don't want.
      What SDRUNO should do is just follow the frequency of the K3 through Omnirig and only send the data VRX to Rig when something in the software is clicked or acted upon and maybe once or twice at startup of the Rig and SDRUNO VRX.
      Slowing down the polling of Omnirig (up to once per second) helps a bit, but is not the solution.
      Other software, like NAP3, N1MM and CWSkimmer (is also via Omnirig) do not show this behaviour at all when simultaniously contolled via LP-bridge. Problem starts when I connect SDRUNO to the pack.
      Maybe you can have a look at this phenomenon and make SDRUNO even better. (Love the GUI of SDRUNO on my screen and I am very satisfied with my SDRplay1A. That's why I would like it to be my panadapter when I use the K3)

    • @SDRplayRSP
      @SDRplayRSP  4 роки тому

      ariebomba I suggest you look at the app note we prepared on using HRD with SDRuno. The same concept applies to many other software packages that also attempt to control the rig and totally eliminates the problem you describe.

    Why do you need a PanAdapter for the 7300? Why can't you just use the USB cable. I guess there's something I don't understand about the PanAdapter. With the USB cable you get the large screen you were complaining about. You can decode digital modes on your computer with proper software using just the USB cable..
