Thanks for the tutorials, part one and two. Got it up and running in no time. 👍
“Glosses over” several details. Do your homework.
I’ll watch your videos on the subject..
when you transmit with the sdruno running does it affect the software in any way? or affect the tx signal from the 7300? Im thinking about buying the ptrx and installing it in my 7300
really aggravating that you didnt go over the Icom 7300 radio settings. You can follow your video and its not going to work for someone who wants to replicate what you have without being thorough and going over the Icom 7300 radio settings.
Ok.. thanks for heads up
Great video!
So, what happens when you transmit? Does the RF overload the computer or SDRUNO? What happens to the audio? Is it muted so the mic does not pick it up?
I use my ptrx in conjunction with Win4Icom software suite and mine mutes during transmit
Thank you so much Gary!!! This setup is so awesome! Your explanation is excellent.
Gary, I have an IC-7300 with the internal board feeding to an SDRDuo, I would like to plug a receiving aerial into the 7300 and thought that maybe I could do it with this combination of hardware and software.
Can I bring in a receiving aerial such a very long wire that is low down and feed that into Duo's second port AND then synch the frequency on the rig in particular to the SDRUno software and listen to the reciving aerial over headphones/pc speaker? Using the internal board will save me hammering the Duo on transmit.
Have I understood the cabilities correctly, or is there a catch and you can only control the rig from the SDRUno software rather than the other way around?

Thanks for this tutorial, I was hoping I would see how you configured the inside of the radio, I was trying to follow, can you share me more details thank you
Great tutorial until the SDR doesn't recognize the 7300........... Do you have an "every conceivable issue that may arise during setup" video? That would be great... Thanks...
i connected a 7300 up to sdr connect without pan adapter, sorry i am a little lost, why do you need the pan adaper or connect sdr uno (rtdx)
Very helpful Gary. I haven't played around with rig control previously, sticking to logging programs or sound card software only so this and your previous video will help when my PTRX arrives soon! Cheers, Paul - G0VHT
I wasn't sure which software to downloaded from SDR Play website, as there are many, so I downloaded from the first link which was SDR Uno, after installing everything else, it asks me for a wav, but I don't have one and it says the app will now close. That's as far as I can get.
If it asks for a wav file it hasn’t found your sdrplay sdr .. you might need to pop them an email .. gaz
Great Video, I have the same setup completely but I cannot get it to work, as soon as I open SDRuno my radio goes into transmit. I have tried assigning different COMM ports but still the same, just wondering if it might be my USB cable . if you have any ideas or could help it will be great Kim G MD0KPG
Thankyou for the video as that is my next project. I already have my IC-7300 set up with omnirig to run the WSJT ft8 software and Win4IcomSuite. Is there going to be a conflict? The Win4IcomSuite is paired to the omni rig and the omni rig is paired with WSJT. I dont expect all these to work at the same time. 73 de VE3MRX Bill in Oakville
Thanks for the great video!! I just have one question. I have the same configuration with omnirig and the 7300 panadapter board and sdruno software running the Rsp1a. While connected as shown in your video is it still possible to receive let's say shortwave broadcast and still be able to receive the full radio spectrum, not just the ham bands? After all the SdrPlay is 1mhz to 2ghz something like that?????
Question once i have sync the sdruno to my icom7300 my radio TX/RX turns RED CANT SEEM TO TURN IT back to RX. any help would be awesome ..wonder if its a setting in my radio?
That sounds like you have set omnirig up wrong.. not sure how? Rts and dts?
@@TheGazLab thanks got it figured out :) ..Great video thanks
Is there a particular SDR Receive Module and software that works best with the PTRX-7300? Also do you happen to know whether Analog Radio is planning on coming out with a version for the ICOM IC-9700?
If you want to use the sdr receiver as the primary receiver, how do you mute the received audio during transmit to prevent feedback thru the mic or are you just muting the sdr audio at all times?
Get a message saying no rsp can be found ? What am I doing wrong ?
Make sure it’s not on a hub! And ensure usb 2 not 3!! Raise a support ticket with sdr play .. gaz
Do you know how to connect it with SDR Connect. I do not see an omni button?
It’s not fully complete/comparable at the moment, but the guys are working on it.. Gaz
Hi done what you said to your video but the software says there's no rsp ?
drop support at sdrplay a line.. it sounds as if you need a driver file.. gaz
i have installed and plug in to antenna tuner outside seems loose have not installed uno yet and is sdr not connected to pc very high swr
I did buy one of these, I now having up and working, great piece of kit.
Thank you, Gary, for the phone call that was a great help. I have ordered the RSP1X.
Sweet!
Hi do I use a usb cable when doing this operation ?
You need the 7300 and sdr play connected to the pc via usb yes.. gaz
@@TheGazLab thanks Gary I thought this would be the case I've also got the panadapter fitted in my 7300 the program looks good as well.
so if an aerial is plugged into SDR Play and then SDR Play to 7300 and then connected with Omni rig, do you get the full spectrum of the SDR ie the SDR Play will pick up say 23cm if the aerial is in i take it you could tune it with the radio on 23 cm which it isn't capable of
no, the ptrx is designed around the spec of the 7300.. you could use an RSP duo just utilise the second receiver for what ever you want with its own antenna..
Gary, are you using the RSP1A or the RSPDuo 73 Phil G0BVD North Devon
Rsp1a
Thank you Gary for the further update. 73's JD
I notice the changes in the software is somewhat delayed when I tune my IC-7300. Is there anyway to eliminate this delay?
Increase your com port speed settings on the radio and in the software to the max they both support.
Having some really odd behavior that maybe someone could shed some light on. I have an IC-7300 that I am using SDRuno and an RSP1A as a panadapter for it. I am doing this with one of those PTRX boards installed in my 7300. It was all working very well. Had to tear all my stuff down to set it up in a new desk I got for the shack and when I put back together this happens. When I started SDRuno, it asked me if I wasted to install the new version and I did. when it starts up now, my radio automatically goes into transmit. Looked at the settings in Omni-Rig and nothing has changed. If I disconnect the PTRX and run SDRuno on its own it works fine. Anyone have any idea what could be going on here? Thanks and 73's Bruce
surely you need to set the IF offset?
Perhaps, I’ll concede to your experience.. have a good one.. Gaz
Can this be done without Omni-Rig? Not looking to control the 7300 from the software. Just want to have the radio control what I see on the pan adaptor.
If you dont need rig control no need for omni rig :-)
The only issue I get is overload when I tx which isn't supposed to happen with this setup.
How did you wire the ptrx?
Wired up standard install.
I wonder if there are other dedicated panadapters aside from the PX3 for wide band observation, without a PC.
trouble is your dealing with a radio that was not designed to have this feature, there could be some workarounds, android tablet? Gaz
The Gaz Lab I hope so, maybe I can make one with a spectrum analyzer IC with a raspberry pi and some programming. If I ever do I'll email you about it.
Did I miss how you connected the Omnirig to SDRUNO?
@ 6:00 I connect the two.. Gaz
Thanks Gary great video
How’s the upgrade working for you now that you’ve had it for a while. Looking to buy one if current users feel it’s worth the money VS the cheaper options. Thx, 73
It's very good, I had a meeting with the designer today.. really nice guy..
Thank you Gary
Great video.😉 Tempted to buy one😊
They are nice.. and very easy to use :-) and thank you for the kind comments.. Gaz
Where do I find Omni-Rig?
dxatlas.com/omnirig/
Hi, Can you please tell me why after setting up the program the dial on the ic 7300 is very jerky does not run as smooth as I think it should, Many thanks B.
Jerky on the 7300 or pc??
@@TheGazLab on the pc.
I have found the answer, :) you have to adjust the Poll int, ms in the Omni rig control in my case I adjusted it to 100. It now working great.
@@brian.7966 sweet and noted :-)
hi gas how do we connect using apple systems
Not sure you can.. Sorry
