💙 Who are we?
We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

I'm not crying. Are you crying? Every episode we watched and you painstakingly filmed and edited - never mind worked - brought us all here. Congratulations!!!
How very like MP to crawl under the boat to publicly thank all her patrons. Congrats to MP and Ben and all their family and friends. And to all of us who have had faith in them from day 1. CONGRATS !!!

Congratulations. All the blood, sweat and tears to get Yabá from wreck to dream has finally paid off. Seeing Yabá touch the water for the first time in nearly 3 years made me tear up. Yabá is truly where she belongs and I can’t wait for the maiden voyage.
Amazing very nice
Thank you so much Alfie!!💙
On an early TV show in USA , 'The Newlywed Game' the question was, "What Rock Group best describes your honeymoon night?" . . . . . . . . . . The Groom's answer was:
'Blood, Sweat and Tears'. The Bride did not answer the same & was 'devastated' crouching down under the counter . . . . the audience would not stop laughing ! . . . . I think they went to a 'commercial - break' twice before the audience calmed down !
No one can take away what you guys have accomplished!!!!!!!!!!Im 74 years old and love you like you are my own kids.Enjoy the life that you guys have EARNED!!!!!
🥰🥰💙💙💙💙💙
Thank you so much!!
Glad I'm not the only old man crying here. Good job! 😂
Keep on Sir.
Finally!! Congratulations wishing you many happy years ahead together. You both deserve it. 🍾🍾🥂🥂💯💥❤
As viewers, we all need to subscribe here to keep this all going.
Yes, that dinghy is really trashy! After the way you have restored Yaba, she really deserves a beautiful, modern dinghy.
Just so happy for MP, Ben and the dogs to be in the water after so many years of hard work and almost total rebuild. Delighted to be part of the patreon Yaba Crew and to have supported this project. More than deserve to get to 100k subs just for the entertainment and showing old fashioned boatmakers with limited tools creating a masterpiece!
Thank you so so so much Simon!!💙
Why have so many of us old guys shed so many tears of joy today? I thought we were supposed to be old, grizzled and stoic. I am so happy and proud of you guys. Hard to believe we have followed you for over three years on this journey.
OMG!!! Here I sit with tears of joy for you two. It cost us, individually, only a few dollars each but what we got in return is immeasurable. Two most beautiful people, a boat yard full to the top with talent and an adventure that very few of us will ever experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing us to be part of it. This is the beginning of a beautiful journey. Love you both, from America.❤❤❤❤❤
3 years 4 months ago i started watching this channel. I also started an Apprenticeship in Heavy Diesel Mechanics.
I graduated last week. And Yaba did too!! So proud of you guys... and myself! 🤣
No project or dream is too big! Go get it 💪
Congratulations to you two.
I’m 77 years old. Our home is in Marina Del Rey, California. I am a coastal cruiser aboard our Hunter 376, Mer-Sea Beaucoup.
Your build and launch have made me so happy for and proud of you and your team.
Thanks go to Luca and Roberta for introducing you to me, through their channel.
I wish you the very best.
Fair Winds and Following Seas.
Duca and Roberta.
Keep on Sir.
72 years old and very wet eyes with joy for you. What a journey so far
Your families have something to be really proud about. Quite an achievement restoring that boat. I envy you the adventures you two will have on Yaba. My congratulations.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Aww MP you're gonna make me cry, putting our names on YABA is absolutely the sweetest gesture
I was one of the people that, all those years ago, had my doubts.
You have proven me wrong!
Just think, people ALL OVER THE WORLD watched this! I live in North Queensland, got up early this (Monday) morning because I wanted to see Yabá get into the water. I followed this story from the very first video just over three years ago, and didn't realise until today how invested I had become! A heartfelt congratulations...
Congratulations on your successful splash!! How great is this!! I'm 76 and was right there with you with tears of joy!! I have watched you, your family and the shipwrights working on Yaba since day one. What a journey! I am very happy for you. Such a great accomplishment. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Keep on Sir.

Congratulations Ben and MP! Congratulations YABA!!!!!
Thank you so much!! ❤
So glad that I got to see you folks launch Yaba. Much good luck and happy sailing for life. I look forward to seeing you more often.
Y'all... I have no idea how I found myself entangled in your journey to build this beautiful boat, but here we are. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your videos, even the seemingly 100 episodes where you just replaced ribs and planks.. lol. You're doing great work. If your adventures ever bring you to Charleston, South Carolina, give a shout would love to do a fly-by in my little skiff and lay eyes on this beauty in person.
Mike
I can only imagine putting YABA back into the water. This old guy didn't realize he would be emotional watching you two living your dream. Hope you are successful in all you do and thank you for putting time and effort into your videos. It'd been fun so far.
Thank you so much!! ❤
Congratulations guys, your effort is proof of how great things can be achieved with commitment, resiliance and hard work while keeping the goal in sight over a long period of time. Well done guys.
You two had a smaller team and a bigger boat than the most sailing channels and older working tools. It’s great to see Yaba’s launching in all her beauty. Thanks for the the adventure you two made and shared with us. I’m looking forward the continuing of the yourney ❤️
CONGRATULATIONS! Enjoy YABA! Well done!
Yaba Dabba Doo!, you did it!, Congratulations Captain MP and Captain Ben, and to all that worked on Yaba you did an Amzing job. I remember when you were pulling off plank by plank finding more and more rotten wood thinking this is not going to end well. but I am so happy I was wrong. The shipwrites have done a brilliant job I am so happy for you all. Long live Yaba and all who sail her her!.
Congratulations hard work paying off
Good work ❣️
This episode definitely deserves more than 1 thumbs up!!!!!!!!!👍
Congratulations to all the team members of Yabá for their sweat , tears and blood to get Yabá finally ready to SPLASH. Seeing Yabá touch water for the first time in 1228 days filled our heart full of joy with lots of happiness and wonderful moments. Love seeing Yabá on the water, can't wait to watch more wonderful moments with Yabá and can't wait for the maiden voyage as well. ( I'm Khagendra from Nepal, the country of Mt. Everest. Nepal is a landlocked country therefore there is no ocean but i would love to see Yabá sail the world's ocean. I really appreciate you guys rebuilding the ship and restoring it's history. God bless you all and good luck!! )
Rejoicing with you!!! Congratulations!!! You are the best!!!
I recall when Duga was telling you not to worry about when you'll get it done, after you first brought it to the current location.
After seeing the rot, I thought it will be too much for you. But you stayed with it and finished it. Really inspiring. ❤
Thank you!!
The difference between winning and losing is quitting ! Great guts guys ! We have watched your journey from the beginning and so proud of you both. The best is yet to come….from fellow mariners 👍🇦🇺🇳🇿
This day was a long time coming with all the hard work you and your team of shipwrights put in. @@SailingYaba you are so very welcome 🤗
Yaba splashed and I'm wet with tears... watching for three years , building a boat, building each other. How wonderful the mystery of love that reaches thru countries, thru language and time to create connection & family. Truly love you all.
Congratulations, Yaba has a new lease of life, I have been here from day 1, what a transformation. Those craftsmen are incredible, please tell them all that they will be missed. XX from Ireland
I (Daniel Balderas) am 65 years old and my wife is 37 years old, but I am the one that has been watching since day one of your channel ( Duca and Roberta)and when you guys got on the boat for the first time. Congratulations Ben and MP….I can’t believe it’s been 3 years every Sunday with set backs and success. I never missed an episode again congratulations 🎉🎊 ❤
Heartiest CONGRATULATIONS on launching YABA .
Wish you only the best for your future .
From a retired South African BOER.
I'm so pleased for the pair of you, getting Yaba into the water. Who ever picked the point to put the waterline got that spot on. Well done to everyone involved.
I guess there will be at least 96,600 people all around the world pleased to see Yabá launched. Well done Ben, MP and all the team.
Wow! Wow!Wow! That’s all I can say. I’ve been with you guys (in spirit) from the beginning and looked foreword to every Sunday’s video. You and the shipyard crew have done a truly amazing job. Your dedication and outstanding videography are held above all others I have followed by a HUGE margin. Please, please keep the videos coming on your journeys.
It looks like you have a bunch of senior fans. I, too, am 77 years old - and an old sailor (in both senses: I owned sailboats in my younger days, and am retired from the US Navy Reserve). You two are my Heroes - living my dream. Fair winds and following seas, plankowners. BZ
❤ O my goodness I cried like a little girl when Yaba started floating. 😂😂❤❤ CONGRATULATIONS!!! MAY YOU HAVE TRILLIONS OF HAPPY MILES!! ❤❤
Thank you so so much for cheering for us! ❤
❤ well done all the best yaba god bless you all from the bottom of my heart from the uk
Finally you made a new boat. Nothing previous boat exist I believe.
I was on vacation and missed her launch…… congratulations on the launching of YABA SHE IS NOW WHERE SHE BELONGS!!! along with you!!!
Seldom do we get to share in such joy. Thank you to the entire Yaba team, the talented carpenters, shipwrights, engineers, laborers, and supporters of every stripe. UA-camrs may know of the great work done in the US re-building Tally Ho from wreck to just-launched sailing showpiece, and others may have reveled in the modern appurtenances and clever upgrades to the finished deliveries of the 'store-bought' boats received by a few experienced world-cruising UA-cam sailors. As good as their successes run, none can quite match the brotherhood of love seen here at Sailing Yaba.
May you enjoy fair winds and following seas in everything you do.
Dose that dog love Ben or what? Tears of JOY, THANK YOU GUYS!
Bravery is not about knowing the the immensity of the challenge beforehand. It's to face the challenge when the immensity of it emerges and not get discouraged.
Well done, the team at the yard have helped you create a floating paradise. The splash was an emotional moment for all we viewers and followers.
Congratulations to all involved. You couldn't have picked a better group of shipwrights. The bonds you've made over the last couple of years will last forever. May the future bring great adventures for you both and my Yabá sail on for many decades to come.
Bravissimi, ragazzi!!! Alla fine il gran giorno è arrivato!!! Tanta felicità a tutti voi e buona vita!!!
Hello farind 🌹
Congratulations… incredible transformation, Been with you since the start when Duca and Roberta introduced you to the community.
Hello farind 🌹 Good work
Haha… wrote this before I saw you say it
Tears are flowing all around the world. What a special time. This is completely the result of the amazing craftsmen in that boatyard and your determination to restore Yaba to the beauty and strength that she deserves. From the slow sinking boat riddled with worms that she was three years ago to the strong floating jewel that she is today. I can't wait to see the remainder of her refit and her first sail and her first ocean passage.
The vision of all the work is beautiful. May the view FROM it be more beautiful than your grandest dreams.
We have been waiting for this! We woke up this morning and got on UA-cam just to see if y’all had posted yet! Ha! What an accomplishment! I teared up! My husband had a huge smile on his face! We are 2 years and one month into our boats refit! I can so relate to the butterflies and feelings leading up to this day! Hopefully it will happen for us in a few months! Congratulations! And yes y’all deserve to sleep in and relax! Ha!
By all measures buying and fixing yaba was a bad idea. And yet here we are. Through hard work and positive attitude you guys have a big beautiful new home! Can't wait to see where you go with her.
Wow! I can not believe how emotionally invested I am in this channel. Ben, I want to shake your hand. Well done! And MP, once again that infectious joy at every little, and large, victory warms my heart and makes me happy for you! Someday I hope to see her in a cove somewhere and get to share a sundowner! 👏👏👏
Congratulations team Yaba!
I have followed each and everyone of your episodes since day #1. I cannot fully express how happy I am for you at this time! Like yourself, this was the absolute highlight of my day. I look forward to the future, and what is yet to come from the Yabá crew! The best is yet to come! I know it! 👏
Time to set sail @Sailing Yaba. God bless her and all who sail in her! Thank you for the 3 years + of great entertainment!
respect guys from holland, what a journey, what a boat en so many good people who helped you, we wish you guys save sailing.
Thank you so much!! ❤
Endlich, after so much work you can be happy after so much ups and downs to be in the water, you have shown always so much happiness . but i know there was also very days of despair
May Neptune's and Poseidon's blessing protect Yaba and the two of you ! ❤
Congratulations 👍
