For the past 4 months I've been wondering what's different about you and it's just dawned on me, that you got a haircut!... but you've been wearing a cap that's covering it up.. but I bet your scalp feels much better for it.👍😊
Forgot to mention the red sail covers are a perfect choice of color. You are a very honest sounding
What kind of drone do you have
I hope to hear more about the research
Never ever apologize for having a life beyond UA-cam and making videos. You have a life, you have jobs and you're doing your best. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos and for sharing your lives with us!
I think it's quite important to have/do things outside of youtube, despite what Mr Beetrooot does (yes I know he eats/sleeps/dreams/farts/smells/excretes youtube but not everyone should go to that extreme ).
For me, AlluringArctic is unique among sailing and adventure vlogs. Your Northwest Passage episodes are keenly awaited. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
I think you are correct : better good interesting videos than many boring ones !
We’re here for the quality not the quantity. Exceptional video production. I can’t stand the bikini sailing crap. It’s just Alluring Arctic and TallyHo. Carry on!
Also try sailing carpet. Same craftsmanship as tally ho
I meant: sailing magic carpet. My apologies
Alluring Arctic and RAN Sailing are the only two sailing channels I watch now.
I said bye bye to La Vagabond years ago. Though they do have a badass boat again. At least Riley is a true sailor...
Your channel is amazing. Thank you for sharing your lives. I can't believe all you guys do. You must be in amazing shape. ❤
@@mike-fe9wj its a shame about lavagabonde because anytime Riley did solo sails, or their older crossings etc it was awesome.
But hey they got a whole family now so i can't judge the dude.
Several sailing channels start out ok, then sailing content goes away and it becomes bullshit drama. Appreciate your efforts and many thanks.
they devolve to the cry face, bikini drama formula that works for some inexplicable reason.
@@SvengelskaBlondieHonesty the biggest thing that turns me off from other sailing channels is the feeling of disconnect. As if they just exist. With Alluring it feels so grounded in reality. They go grocery shopping, they ground the boat to fix problems, they talk about visa issues. They show us something incredible I've never seen
@@SvengelskaBlondie And even the ones which don't take that route do seem to go off the boil as the process of putting out videos becomes both more routine and (I would guess) more irksome.
I think it's a bit like particle physics: when a process is observed, that unavoidably affects the process.
I think this channel has retained its freshness and vitality (obviously some episodes are more vital than others, but I'm talking about the average) more than any other channel I can think of.
That's true, this and Slim & Soph - Sailing Nakama are the only two i watch now sailing and tally ho and sailingmagiccarpet for build videos.
@@Gottenhimfella In some ways, it's sort of inevitable that some form of routine gets established, I can't think of doing something like that and not have that happening. I think one thing that helps is to have things other than just sailing, I like that they do stuff like skiing and waterboarding.
some channels seem to have very little outside of just "we have boat, we live on boat, show boat on camera" thing going on.
First of all, you are the owner of your life, so no need to excuse yourself. We are grateful to share some moments of your incredible experiences in areas that we just dream about. You are very lucky to have such an exciting life with a beautiful and intelligent partner that shares your aspirations.
"Turning it into steam"
Finns never pass up on the opportunity to have a sauna 😁
wish we had a real one on-board!
@@AlluringArctic that would be quite a luxury indeed 🙂
@@AlluringArctic I live in Florida...and go 4-5 times a week to a sauna..at my gym... lovely... relaxing...hobby
@@AlluringArctic Maybe you can add one in Greenland?
@@AlluringArctic A sauna tent? Some version of it. You could take one to the shore when you go skiing or otherwise. Would be max Finnish content, extreme sauna-ing. Esim. savotta-fi. Parhaat terveiset Tallinnasta.
Upping my Patreon membership level to $50/month and encouraging others to do so as you and Sohvi get ready for the North West Passage. I applaud you staying in the moment, and not filming every moment.
Tell me you’re from Finland without telling me you’re from Finland: „I‘m here to sit on the beach and watch the ice float by“. Nicely summarized and gave me a good chuckle 😁. A fellow finn.
Super funny comment.
Also, 'No, no seal. Don't be scared.' when delivered with heart felt compassion. 😂
The beauty of Alaska always brings a sense of awe, no urban congestion just raw nature
Love how Sohvi feels about her jumper collection, always looks so warm and just beautiful jumpers😊
That would be a great product to market, as it's pretty much unobtainable otherwise.
Super happy you have a frequency that suits your life. Always delighted to see a new video, whenever it comes.
The best ski scenes of any sailing channel I know! Glad the boat was ok when you got back.
🙃can't be said any better!
Yeah. In the south of my home waters, where I sometimes sail, we occasionally get 80 knots of wind even in harbour and it's a challenge. At that wind strength, containers not restrained well enough blow off the dock. Not good for any boat that's in the way...
I like your honesty .. "I just abandon all my responsibilities" 😄
I certainly understand your reasoning for not wanting to spend your time pumping out videos. The videos that you do produce are of such high quality that they are worth the wait in my opinion.
Don't sell yourself short Juho. Some of us very much appreciate you providing voice to your thoughts. For instance, "I'm here to sit on the beach and watch the ice float by". Bravo!
THE DOCTOR CAN SHRED!
She's pretty damn amazing alright.
Live data being transmitted from the boat would be called 'telemetry' data.
You just do as many or as few videos as you feel like. They are such high quality gems of beauty and exploration that they are well worth the wait. Live your own life. You only get one. Your videos are the only ones that I share on social media, because your cinematography, your wide variety of skills, adventurous spirit, and sensitivity to your beautiful surroundings make your videos jewels of the UA-cam world. So you just do you.
I love when you speak your native language!
I have to tell you that I watch quite a few sailing channels, and yours is the only one I am a patreon of.
I completely agree with your philosophy that anyone sending money to a channel, must rate the quality and content of the video, making it worth paying to watch. I supported Leo with Tally ho, but he now has enough viewers that I decided to rather give you my patronage. as I now live on a 32ft Aries in Knysna Lagoon South Africa, with a plan to sail up the east coast to Madagascar and beyond, having rented out our house, we like to get tips from people making videos about what it is like to live on a yacht. I am 72 and almost 2m tall, so it is a challenge with such a small boat, but that is all we can afford. So, consider yourself lucky that a poor man like me, with shit currency, rates your work highly enough to actually pay for it.
I hope this comment of mine will give you some small boost ,that what you do is interesting and well produced.
I look forward to your future adventures in the North West Passage.
Cheers, Alex
Hi guys, you shoot some of the very best videos on U Tube. The nature shots are great and then to get the ski content as a bonus is just great value.
I’d take your quality over quantity every time.
Do you worry about bear? Wolves?
Whenever you can put out a video, I very much appreciate it. This is so unique and amazing. I love it. Your adventures ARE SPECIAL. And I know hard to make. So when ever you can, it’s great. Thank you. Don’t let the documenting spoil your voyaging. 😊
Juho, you should consider creating merchandise with the logo of that favorite motto “let’s go” of yours and maybe include Sohvi’s ✌️wave as well. 😉
Nice to hear you guys communicating in your native language. I love the drone shots of the mountains, the boat, and the downhills, well done.
"I'm here just sitting on the beach to watch the ice float by"
To me that humble sentiment superbly sums up the best philosophy for blending with Nature and staying true...and that's why I watch your videos.
Thank you and I'm looking forward to following your Northwest Passage and Greenland journey.
As an 80 year old life-long sailor landlocked in central Missouri I love your videos. Keep them coming. Thanks
I'm envious of Sohvi's woolen sweater collection! She has good taste in design and comfort.
I'd much rather watch one high-quality video once a month from you than 4 from some of my other channels because you never disappoint. The drone shots with music are just incredibly well shot and edited, hands down world-class footage.
hershey's is like bad coffee, it is fine until you try the good stuff.
You do you, I'll watch when you put something out. The scenery is amazing. No need to compare yourself to other sailing channels. Everyone has their own motivation.
Sohvi's smile always makes my day!! You put out just the right amount of videos ... don't change a thing!
Good to see you back on the road. Not many sailing channels have a ski shop onboard. 😎
I agree. Hershey's is to chocolate what Miller Light is to beer.
Well, Hershey's makes eating chocolate, it is just not sold in stores very often and only appears around Easter time period. The stores stock and sell the cheapest version of Hershey's. You get what you pay for.
Most Americans prefer dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is cheap, that's why it's ubiquitous. Make a buck no matter what. They make a pretty good 5 ingredient syrup.
@@user-wi9hv2pb2q ? I know personally VERY few who like dark chocolate plain. Bulk Coco isn't expensive compared to milk fat
Truly an impressive video. I realize these videos take lots of time and erroft to produce. Thank you.
My wife and I sailed oceans together for over 55 years. Great experiences, however we almost always stayed between 40S and 40N. You guys are incredible. Your lady/crew is DOUBLE incredible. HOW do you get her to stay??? 😂
HH coats with duct tape patches on them, the sign of an experienced Arctic sailor.
I like that your videos show what it’s really like and not this perfect false reality that other sailing channels do. Glad to see you guys back aboard. Boat faired well considering the weather and wind conditions. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
9:43 "The first obstacle of the day..."
That was a comical coincidence 😂
Little tip from a fellow (old) sailor - when leaving boat docked in an area where it might snow, cover as much as you can with a tarp(s). When you return you can just lift the tarp and the snow will fall overboard. Even works with ice. I also recommend a large push broom to push off any remaining snow. Cheers
11:02 this is one of the reasons I love your channel! Your channel is the only one I’ve seen with sailing and skiing in such beautiful surroundings. Thank you for sharing this with those of us stuck in suburban life!
I'm so proud to be a Finn! These two sailors are the very most interesting couple that sailing in the world! So original, hyvää matkaa ja kertakaikkiaan paras YTube video. CHEES, Ben
@ 13:01 is what I want a metal picture of. That is just perfect!!
Integrity, I will take that over a weekly video anytime.
Amazing footage, story and editing!
Thank you
"I'm here to sit on the beach to watch the ice float by" is a statement that 99% of sailing youtube cannot comprehend. 😂
100% They are doing it right.
Thanks so much for the adventures!
Phantastic pictures again. So peaceful.
Good words of yours. Your life, your choices.
I'm with you. Sit on the beach and watch the ice float by. I don't need to know where you are itching or what you had for lunch. Too many vids just ramble on about nothing. I'm here for the adventure and scenery.
Really like your photography.
Thank you a million times! I just love your videos! Thank you! I get to travel with you guys from Paris's suburbs and it is absolutely amazing!
I personaly don't care how many videos you do per months, whenever you feel like it, just keep sharing! Wishing you all the best for all your futur adventures!
15:37 looks like the ice sheet with Lumi is floating above the mountains! 😍
Another beautiful episode! Can anyone solve the snowboard mystery for us - Sohvi goes up in skis, comes down on snowboard...never see both on way up or down!
It’s called a splitboard. A snowboard that splits down the middle into skis for the hike up then back into a snowboard for the shred down. It’s in every backcountry snowboarders quiver. Fun fact: I live in Valdez and have been skiing in those exact places!
@@hammertimeak6595 Ah thanks for confirming that! I suspected this could be the only option but could never quite make out the split in the board! Mystery solved. And enjoy those Valdez slopes - looks epic!
The average sailing yootoober would have taken a camera all over Finland for the two months you were back home. I like the mystery. We don't need to meet your uncle and cousins or experience shopping in a Finnish supermarket. Thanks for sparing us. Enjoy the beauty,
"I'm here to sit on a beach and watch the ice float by"
The wisest words I have heard for a very long time. I really have great respect of you!
I'm sorry not being able to sposor you in any way. I am a poor pensionist with troulbble to stretch the money for every month, but you deserve all the sponsorships you can get elsewhere.
Love from Denmark
You two are subtle powerhouses ... don't change a thing ... very special videos, and one of a kind really.
I totally get your top 3 reasons. If I could paraphrase it, you're more into creating something worthwhile the effort. That is sooooo evident in your cinematography. I'm beyond excited for the trip through the NW passage this summer! Thanks for taking me along.
oh and, chocolate isn't the only thing that's been ruined here in the US. Be diligent in reading food labels. Lot's of inedible garbage out there.
I enjoy all your videos and respect your decision to not be a slave to your channel. Srick to your principles! We will be looking forward to your Arctic passage.
Even tho you release 1 video a month I don't mind. Generally they are longer than your normal sailing channels and diffrent due to the mix of skiing and sailing. I have to say your camera work is awesome and also your choice of music is good. I always enjoy your videos. Enjoy life mate. Do what ever makes you happy :)
Quality over quantity, I much prefer a video that has interesting content than one that is made to keep the algorithm happy.
keep sitting on the beach my friend ..best sailing channel on youtube ..
This is such a beautiful way to report a true adventure through icy wilderness
I like your videos. No need for more, no need for anything. I feel fortunate you share your adventures
Thank you for taking me on this journey. I have never experienced this type of landscape.
Hey Juho, easily the best sailing YT channel for scenery and stunning locations. I’m not a skier but even I love your skiing / snowboarding sequences and the photography/ videography and drone work are the best! Love a few little technical sailing tips thrown in occasionally but please just keep doing what you’re already doing. Infrequent, high quality videos are so much more engaging than the torrent of rubbish that is so common on other YT channels. Very much looking forward to seeing your journey through the northwest passage. Cheers from Tasmania, Australia.
I’m not sure if you realize how unique, original and beautiful your videos are. There are so many videos that are very much like a hundred others but yours are very different than most others. Not only that but they are really interesting. I enjoy them very much and am among the others that would like to see more but I honor your choices and we will see them when we do. God bless.
We prefer the incredible quality of your videos (and the music), to quantity. That's why we like Sailing Yacht Florence, Erik Aanderaa, Magic Carpet etc. No one can expect to turn out 50 episodes a year and not become formulaic and tired and burned out. Not even professionals do that. Your videos are too good to turn into a boring weekly thing.
Fish and palm trees are nice, but you bring us great adventures with beautiful scenery. Keep doing what makes you happy. If it doesn't make me happy, that's my problem. It is wonderful to watch. Keep it up and a little more would be ok as well.
Appreciate that you guys ditch the drama and just show what we are all here for - awesome scenery and real sailing. Kudos
I totally understand your reasoning for quality content. I once again started watching for a while. I can't stop. the great scenery and the non-bikini content just keeps me watching!
Your best video yet? amazing scenery. You do not need to apologise for being different, That is why I watch your productions
I love that your adventures are in the attic or cold climate. Everyone else films the same old tropical landscape. Your on a whole other level ❤
I get sad seeing Creators stressing over the frequency of production. It doesn't matter. Just beautiful to see in lovely small doses like good chocolate. Thank you.
Your grocery bill seemed like about enough to cover two weeks worth of food, in Alaska. Beautiful scenery!
You have 🎿 other locations. You always have solid content that nobody can repeat
It is wonderful you are sharing your journey with us. Please don't ever feel you have to produce a weekly episode. Quality over rides quantity every time. Keep doing what you are doing it makes your channel refreshingly different.
Cheers Eric
Each of your episodes brings tranquility to a troubled-world.
Create as many memories for yourself as possible and go your own way. That time will never come back. Thank you for sharing your time with us.
I think you are absolutely crazy to love the winter. I moved from Sweden to Australia to get away from it. Your videos are very beautiful and I enjoy watching the snow, the ice and the cold from here! Keep them coming!
I am sooo happy that you folks are back. Your editing is a work of art. I can't wait to go on the northwest passage. Also, I am a retired exec./pastry chef, and your chocolate critique was spot on!
Your videos are unique in a sea of sailing videos that push for weekly uploading, regardless the fact that those videos are actually empty. I don't know financial background of UA-cam, but I support your decision to post when you have good and interesting material. Keep your god work.
Ice, damage, cold, heart break, triumph, this is Alaska ! You two embrace it as true exporers. This is one of your best vlogs yet. (and yes,Dr Sofie makes it great, has she any snow and ice research going ? She was itching to dig in that avalanche i bet )
Taking pictures and videos and sharing their beauty with friends and family is much more humane than generating content for the masses. I have a hard time believing that the people that watch sailboats sailing in winter are the typical UA-cam sailing demographic. There is a serenity to the north-woods that is mystical and alluring. Once you glimpsed that spark it is hard to not be drawn back to it over and over. I am really excited to come along on your NW Passage. What an adventure that will be. Fair winds!
27:33 The best advertisement for Feastables😅
What a way to beat the ski crowds…. Just an amazing adventure you are on. Thank you for sharing 🙏
My life is busy so I really enjoy sitting with you and watching the ice flow by. You might be surprised in the positive reaction to more of less!
I appreciate your view on life and respect your desire not to be tied to UA-cam. I think it would be greatly apprecieted if you could strap a GoPro to your chest and simply film your walks, hikes, ski runs, and SUP board advetures. No commentary and minimal edits. I watch your channel because you go places where nobody else goes and it is awesome.
Great video as usual. Scenery is spectacular. Once a month quality is all we need. Safe travels...
You are the best sailing channel. Thanks.
I sail NS, Canada and love your vids. I keep my boat in the water year-round, gradually try to enjoy more seasons on board. I learn much of howto and what to wear from your vids. Thank you both.
Re: video release. It’s all good releasing videos with great content. Much happier watching good content rather than watching lesser quality. Enjoy the trip! We will too.
Love your videos! Quality is always better than quantity and drama. Be safe and enjoy your lives. Looking forward to your next adventure😊
It's going to be a great adventure 😊
Your videos are very unique to the sailing cruising world. The snow and ice and the effort involved doing what you do is very interesting. I look forward to your posts. Sohfis pullover also a nice look. Some of the best Nordic style I have ever seen.
Fantastic scenery. Good to see you are back on the slopes again.
Spectacular! I appreciate your view of UA-cam production, I think you are spot on with your balance. Please take in your experience fully and share it when you can. Regarding Sohvi’s sweaters, they are almost as Devine as she is. Take good care of them.
I've missed your videos.
You're in such stunningly beautiful scenery and doing things no one else is doing.
I understand you not wanting to spend your every waking hour making and editing videos, but when we see the end product, they are on a level that far surpasses other sailing channels.
Excellent video as always
Totally agree, and all the more reason not to trade quality for quantity
Your videos are high quality compared to many other youtubers. Looking forward to more, once a month or so :-)
I really enjoy your videos. I've always dreamed of doing what you two are doing. Don't feel pressured to release tons of videos. Release them when you feel like it, we'll be here to watch them! Save travels!
This is like having a planet to yourself. What a place.
You are the best channel. Always genuine and interesting.
Keep doing what you are doing and produce quality over quantity! I love your style and really appreciate the level of cinematography you deliver!
Your videos are spectacular! You are outstanding in the UA-cam sailing community and I love you for not wanting more but rather enjoy more what you have. Thank you!
Very nice filming! There are sometimes that I miss the Arctic- but not very often. As a Finn in living in North America I have come to enjoy the tropics during our winter. I still have great memories of snow storms and -40 weather.
The bubbly side of Sohvi's personality came out in this video, put a smile on my face. And you look SO much more handsome without a bulging hat full of dreads. Very much enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing. :)
