💙 Who are we?
We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

As a 73-year-old former captain and sailor living far away from you in TURKEY, MAY YOUR SEA BE CLEAR AND YOU HAVE PLENTY OF WIND. I say. Everything you get your heart desires. Stay well.
Hello farind 🌹
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Sailing Atticus is in Turkey right now.
@@dennisdatu6464 I live in the city of KUSADASI in Turkey. KUSADASI is a very beautiful touristic and touristic city in western TURKEY. My boat is a 13.86 meter long TARGA 42 motor boat. When I get old, I can't sail anymore. At the marina in KUSADASI. Where are you? IN TURKEY.
So inspiring to see the whole jurney till now....dreams really do come true...you guys worked so hard to make this your reality🎉🎉🎉🎉
DREAMS DO COME TRUE. You did it. We’ll miss L., but hopefully we will see him again.
(We will watch anything you put out.) 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️😎😎😎
I gotta say, this episode truly brought a smile to my face. Seeing you guys finally get to enjoy Yaba is so awesome!
It's amazing how far you have come, one of the few channels that i never missed an episode of.
LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN!
Yaba’ is one of the most graceful schooners I have ever seen, she is a credit to both MP and Ben but also the fantastic shipwrights who so lovingly put her back together, may she sail the seas in peace, Dave south west england
Those that did not believe in Yaba' Have left long ago!!!! they are the "L"
Its Beautiful seeing you both finally getting your sea legs back under your feet!
YABA' Never looked so go in her life! Thank You for all the time and effort you
and the entire Shipwright Crew have spent over the last three years, and You have a
Great 1st Mate that knows more about the engine compartment then the CAPT!
Fair Winds and Following Seas!!!
Thanks for taking me in your first sail adventure guys
YOU DID IT!
BE PROUD AS HELL!
This is among your best episodes. Put a smile on my face from start to finish!
And Yaba sits magnificently in the sea.
Like MP, she's a beauty full of grace.
Being afloat at sea makes it like a whole new channel I am watching! Congrats and going to miss the guys at the ship yard!
It really never occurred to me that you would fail. Some of the predictions sold you short on delivery. I know you’re well satisfied in your inevitable success! The boat is absolutely fabulous, congratulations on sweet vindication!
Prettiest boat in Brazil hands down 🙌🏾🙏🏾
What's the next challenge!? You passed this one with flying colours. Congrats.
I love it! "Its just the beginning" or maybe "its jutst another beginning!"
As I'm watching you I find myself smiling
So incredibly happy for you guys. Free of the boatyard!
Through all the work and years you've put into this boat. It's hard to believe we've watched the transformation take place right before our eyes, WOW !!!!!!!!!! You've yet to start the next chapter but we'll be here with you, as it unfolds..............🤓
I HAVEN'T SAILED IN 60 YEARS SO I SAY "THANKS FOR THE RIDE" NICE!
I've just finished 2 weeks of binge watching your journey from a sinking boat to a beautiful sailing vessel. GOD bless you and your boat and anybody aboard. Can't wait to follow you on you adventures. I'm 72 years young and enjoy watching people having a great time.
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm 74yo and in a wheelchair and I
too am made happy by watching others, esp the young, enjoying their lives.
I've watched you kids since day one and this episode gave me a smile that won't go away!
From the beginning I felt you guys would do this. I cried at the end. May God bless you guys with following seas for you future.
This must be a weird feeling ...... the first anchoring ..... everything working perfectly ..... the rebuilding almost done ... UNFORGETTABLE 😍😍😍
Good morning favorite UA-cam folks! We love watching you enjoying your new chapter. You worked so hard and deserve all the good things life has to offer. We are so proud of you. You made it!!
Welcome to the rest of your life! That glance Ben directs toward MP after the yawn, it lasted 1 sec but so much was said in an instant.♥
Nice, very good, You have given a permanent home for those dogs. They are innocent and deserve a good future and treatment, Very good thing and your videos are also very good and most interesting.
It is always best to attach the end of the chain to the boat with a piece of rope. Reason being that if ever it happens that your anchor got stuck you can cut the rope. Rather loose your anchor and chain than loose your boat.
Good work Sir
The adventure of your lifetime begins with a first navigation. I have followed countless sailing channels through their rebuild time but yours is the one I have been rooting for the most! YOU DID IT!! Best part is the pups transformation from yard dogs to cruising Dawgs ..... Mazel tov.
Thanks ❤
My hat is off to you. You had a dream and went for it. It started differently than you thought but you dug deep and worked hard to achieve that dream. Well done! Well done!
Yaba is a beautiful vessel. You two and your helpers are heroes for saving her.
I really want to see her go under canvass, as she was intended.
YOU DID IT! Your dream has come true. Congratulations. Your adventure has been fun to watch. I'm looking forward to your next sails.
YOU NEVER GAVE UP on Yabà..❤ Amazing job.. Congratulations 🌟🌟
The story of Caillou and his friend (whose name I forget) is a special element of this amazing story of Yaba. They have had an amazing life adventure and it would be so touching to see more aspects of that.
I have a great concern about the anchor and anchoring systems, Bruce anchors are very good but have their limitations such as on hard ground. Sometimes the depths of anchorages requires a very long chain & rode. Sometimes a second anchor is necessary, sometimes a stern anchor is needed. Do evaluate, get yourselves well equipped, trained, knowledgeable and standarised practices on board. You have not only re-built a great boat but you have also created a knowledge platform, make it even better! Keep everyone safe with your wonderful skills!
Woohoo! Your adventure #2 begins. It has been a blast being part of the first one.
Even the dogs look happy 🎉✊🏻🏴
I've watched EVERY single episode since your second one came out and it popped up in my algorythm on UA-cam. Coming here every week and following your journey has been a true pleasure of mine and have brought me so much joy! CONGRATULATIONS on the splash, your first anchorage since the rebuild and achieving success even though some people were skeptical! You proved so many people wrong and are truly inspirational for so many boat enthusiasts like me out there! THANK YOU for the amazing content so far! I'll be waiting eagerly for the next episode, as i've done for the last couple of years every week 😂😍 Giving you guys a superthanks as a small token of my appreciation and a small contribution towards your new adventures! Cheers! 😁
👍😎 So Happy to see YOU happy and FREE ! With the doggies, beautiful. The “after the nap”, that is the life you worked for, after the nap… the motto ❤
Enjoy Yabá's new life, you and the team worked very hard to achieve this point....
Always respect Mother Nature as she is in charge..
Have you convinced yourself that the anchor is up to the task for the quite heavy Yabá..Don't forget the snubber and bridle for the anchor.. This is one of the most important safety features..
Good work
I don't know much about anchors. But do hope Ben and MP seek out an anchor expert to advise them on the next step in that department.
Very Proud of you both! An overwhelming task very few would have ever started and even fewer would have stuck it out. An achievement to be proud of for a lifetime! I once did the same for a fighter jet that no one thought would ever fly again. One of the proudest moments in my life was standing on the end of runway watching it disappear into the clouds on it's first flight! Yaba' Like my Jet has many years of service to come because of you! Now "Off She goes into the wild blue yonder, climbing high into the sky (or over the waves!)"! I Salute you!
I wish I could like this video more than once. You two have shown persistence and grit to make your dream a reality. Amazing job you two!!! I’ve been watching since you first brought the boat to the shipyard and it’s been incredible watching your progress. I couldn’t be happier for you two!
What an amazing return to the water for Yaba!🎉 You two should be proud of your hard work.
GLORY! GLORY! GLORY! Am 75 now. Enjoy this as it only happens rarely in life.
You are so right, the life that is gone does not come back. Life is beautiful after 70.
No matter what it is, there is a great satisfaction that comes with taking a broken down old classic and restoring it to it's former glory using your own hands. Well done and best of luck.
Glad to see the puppies getting some rest after all your hard work
So Bountiful ❣️
Congratulations 🎉🎉
Louis has become a fixture in all his hard work and time.
He will be missed.
I hope he can come back in the future. God bless you all 😊
I’ll miss sighting that bucket hat :)
Very nice
Congratulations, I still remember the first time Duca and Roberta introduced you, I have seen every episode from worrying if you would sink right to today and you first real sea trial. Love you guys
Can't wait to see Yaba' take you to a tropical paradise!
You have accomplished so much, and the rewards are tangible. Fair winds and following seas. Here's to the adventures that are waiting for you.
You both are proof that dreams do come true!! What a journey and I am so excited to share the next part with you all. Wishing you both many happy blessed nautical mile together, for ever. Enjoy the 'dream' together. Best wishes.
Truly a magnificent first anchorage of Yaba, you both should be so proud of the accomplishment of this epic journey. May you always have "fair winds with a following sea" and safe passages on which ever course your heart's desire.
Kapalnya mengambang dengan sempurna, semoga bisa berlayar mengharungi lautan,,, sukses selalu sahabatku🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
How wonderful it is to wake up to your video. You have accomplished so much. I honored to be part of your adventure. I’m so very happy for you two…all of you. I’ll have to watch it a couple times so I don’t miss a second…. Looking beautiful !
Happiness is seeing Yaba at sea at last, and seeing you two so happy. What an adventure it has been!
Never stop reaching for new dreams folks, wishing you all many safe miles of journeys and adventures in the years ahead
Much love and respect from Scotland
Time to enjoy the fruit of your labour. Enjoy, you earned it all.
I am grinning all the way through this episode. You and the brilliant Shipwrights have put so much into Yaba. It looks so graceful now. A new chapter with Yaba has begun. I believe I have watched every episode.
I am surprised how emotional I got watching this. I picked up on the adventure right from the start when you were moored alongside Odd. Seeing Yaba splashed was great but that moment heading out into open water was even more moving. As you say this is where the adventure really starts. Congratulations. Living the dream. So deserved for all the hard work you have put in.
Now comes the hard part. "What are we going to do now?" LOL. Glad you made it. Now let the adventure begin. 🤪
Putting our names on the stem was a wonderful, gentle and touching thought. Thank you. This episode has been so very special. For me and I suspect all who have shared the journey, but most of all for the two of you and all who have helped to put Yaba back in the water. Canine crew included.
What a wonderful episode. I am so happy for you both. Yes, you did it!
You can now start the next chapter of your life with Yabá: build but also fun.
MP, I think you could imitate your friend Roberta, stand up to the bow and shout "Finally" ;-)
Besides, a big thumbs up for your friend Loïc who was a fantastic help for the last past months. I hope he will be able to sail with you very soon. He put so many efforts helping you. he deserves to enjoy boat life.
Those dogs are going to have the best life.
Congratulations on getting back on the water and being able to enjoy what you have worked so hard for over the years that you have dreamed and toiled. It has been interesting watching your journey since Roberta first pointed the world to your project.
Tears of joy for you!!! I repeat what the man from Turkey said "MAY YOUR SEA BE CLEAR AND YOU HAVE PLENTY OF WIND" Love you guys so much.
Yaba(H) Is looking beautiful. For such a big boat it sure is a small boat! I loved how she was taking the swell as you motored out around the peninsula with the lighthouse marking your progress. At night those dive lights (underwater?) showcase the excellence of your new craft upon her mooring. I congratulate you Ben for this milestone that has been such a great work to get her on the water. I too am eager to see you sailing her under the cloth.. You are clearly very happy with this semi final step also MP! She suits you both very well.
Thanks to MP to have planned the life jackets for the dogs 👏👏👏
it's a new world, it's a new day...and I'm feeling good!!!
As some good odd friends say. FINALLY!!!! Congratulations you have made a beautiful home.
Amazing very nice
I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment for years now and glad to see it happen!
Congrats of your first anchorage! I predict that when you start sailing to new anchorages, your subscriber count will greatly increase.
Great Job, well done.
From Canada
I’m happy for you people for getting your dream together very proud of you two and all the help ! Especially the parents. And friends that helped you through this difficult journey .❤
You brought tears to my eyes.
I have loved watching you restore Yaba and give her a new life. She is a credit to everyone that has worked on her to help make your dream a reality. I own and have refurbished a 20m long houseboat on the Murray river in South Australia, but what you have achieved with Yaba is quite remarkable. Looking forward to following you on the next stage of your adventures so good luck with it all.
Cheers Neil
Why are tears running down my face
For me when you left the channel into the open water Yaba slowly raised her bow as though to say "finally clean water under the keel ! " When you two held hands with the love and joy in your eyes knowing that together You two made it thru a long hard battle ..Yaba has risen by your heart and hands . Cheers & tears San Diego , Ca USA
tie a line from the pad eye in the anchor locker to the chain long enough to come out above deck in case you don't have time to pull it back in and have to move the boat in a hurry... have a fender or bouy to attach to the line to retrieve it later
The bitter end as it is called is done just like this so you can get rid of the anchor if you need to!👍
You've made it. So happy for you both. Congratulations YABA!!!
I'm so glad to have followed your progress up till now, and as you transition to a sailing Channel, I look forward to following your new adventures.
Was nice to see a little reward from all the hard work to get to this day!
Congratulations, you earned this first of many sails. I’m so happy for you both. (And the pups)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Your dream has come true through incredibly hard work, perseverance, and skill. You are an inspiration to all of us who might have dreams that require a long term vision and the commitment to see it to fruition.
May I offer you this blessing:
May you sail the seven seas,
And all your winds be fair.
May each harbour be a home,
With a star to guide you there. 🙏❤️
Thank you for bringing us along on your journey.
That’s beautiful! Thank you so much!!
Always dream and follow your dreams. I still dream and follow them even at 68 years old. You guys have shown what is possible and I salute you.
It’s so nice to see MP smile ear to ear for this entire episode. The joy and happiness is just flying off the screen even more than in other episodes. Well deserved.
Ben stills seems in ‘go’ mode till the last minute ;)
So HAPPY for you.... Every year from now on..... Play this clip for a reminder of your JOURNEY....
Yaba is ready when you're ready.
Your boat has such classic graceful lines. Just beautiful. So happy for you both. You did it!
Who says dreams can't come true, both of you proved it that nothing is impossible, you chased the rainbow and have come out shining, can't wait to see Yabá with her wings stretched out
Yaba is special. She was reborn with love and care. 😍
I had no doubt you would make a floating boat and it's been great watching you learn and rebuild the boat.
I have been following you since the beginning. This is so exciting to see that all of the hardwork has paid off! ENJOY!!
You two are amazing. You have so many great friends and family 🎉🎉🎉🎉 this makes joining you on your journey.thank you for inviting us along.❤❤❤
I was stoked before this episode----in anticipation---and you all went WAYYY above and beyond my expectations! There you were motoring out into the big waters with your crew with you and Yaba proving her worth. What a great journey thus far (and to think I have been there the entire way) and, like you said, "this is a new beginning" and much more to come. Yayyyyy!
1!!
Congratulations MP & Ben. Not my boat, over 5000 miles away and even I’m feeling a sense of accomplishment and smiling. Thank you. Subscribed from day one. Also remember, on top of all the boat skills, you’ve both also learned valuable video editing and presenting skills along the way too. Might come in handy one day. Thank you for sharing this pretty amazing renovation project. Looking forward to following your adventures on the high seas. Well done Ben & MP
I really love this new chapter!!
If I can give you a suggestion, place a salt water pump with a hose on your bow so you can use it to wash the anchor while lifting it up!
And while you'll be up on the mast, install some flood lights on your spreader to illuminate your beautiful deck!
It will be great to see you guys under full sail with no engine running. I know you are excited as well.
The crowning glory is the fixing of the name in place. Congratulations.
Very good to see the boat sailing again.
I am impressed with the number of supporters you have screwed. IT is exciting to see YABA' afloat.
Chain pipe flush with deck:
I welded to mine a short stainless pipe above deck level in order to limit the water intake.
It was so efficient that I never made the planned hinged cover.
I've been watching almost from the beginning. I am very happy and proud of you for your huge accomplishment. At times, it looked very difficult for you both. I think you both are amazing, and you deserve all the best. Thank you for documenting the journey so we all could participate in Yaba', enjoying every minute.
