💙 Who are we?
We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

Yaba and Tally Ho splashing within days of each other after years of rebuild and rework, amazing. congratulations to you all.
I was wondering about the number of people that had watched the building of tallly ho that watched this one two. I think tallly ho and expeditionevansyoutube started me watching them
Now ran sailing youtube is getting to the point of flipping the boat over, another great channel.
Two amazing builds. Each unique.
Yaba, Tally Ho and the ,not so wooden, Project Brupeg
Yes what a fun coincidence!! Love it. Two of my favorite boats.
It’s a banner week in the sailing world! Yabba and Tally Ho launching so close together makes my heart happy!
Tally ho launched blew my mind, these guys also. Both boats were in terrible condition.
@@HiltsyAdventure Yup. At frist sight both projects seemed to be pretty much impossible ...and then you meet the people that proof that if you re crazy and passionate enough, many times "impossible" is just a state of mind.
Yabá and Tally Ho splashing in the same week on UA-cam, what a treat!
Good work ❣️
Ikr. It's gonna be strange with them both in the water now. Only have one youtuber to watch Finnish a boat now- a boat by the river.
@@coronapack / SV Delos has just committed to building a new Aluminium Catamaran over in Australia ? ( I think that's where )
from the plans - its going to be a real honey of a boat !
She looks beautiful and ready to go. After a very long rebuild, she is finally about ready to cut the cord and take on the adventures she was built for.
Being honest, I never thought this day would come in the beginning. I thought, this is a project with no plan and it's going to run out of money. I don't know how much it cost, but now, I don't care. I think you guys (Ben, MP, and especially MP's Dad, and the whole yard) totally smashed this project out of the park. Parabéns!
Yeah, I didn't think that timber was worth the effort of drying for burning!
_The kids are alright._
Yaba looks so beautiful out on the water. People scuba diving off your boat will have such a special experience.
Congratulations on "rescuing" Yaba! Also, I love that you also "rescued" the two dogs. What a wonderful life they are going to have.
...and the dingy and the motor!!
Where do they go for the bathroom?
@@rolfsvensson5777 They have two "heads" or "bathrooms" on board.
@@webbtrekker534 I was talking about the barking dogs! Where do they go when they are in need? Do they belong on a boat period?
@@rolfsvensson5777 OK, I knew folks who cruised with pets. They used a woven mat with a very strong eye spliced on one corner. . The dogs were trained to use the mat and then it was tossed over the side and drug for a few miles for cleaning. More then likely the dogs will use the swim platform and it get sloosed off with buckets.
As many of y'alls videos as I have seen, it has never truly dawned on me just how BIG Yaba actually is until just now. For some reason, seeing Ben turn the wheel while she's in motion really brought it into perspective for me. I'm so excited for you guys. Congratulations! I hope you guys can sail up to Annapolis MD sometime and let me buy you both a drink. That would be pretty cool. At any rate. It's so awesome seeing this project finally come together and move under its own power. WITHOUT any leaks. Lol.
Yaba looks at home now . Not a single leak . That is testament to all the hard work and skill that went into rebuilding her .
What beautiful story, a beautiful family and two beautiful dogs 🐕
and of course a beautiful boat,
GO YABA
Ben and MP you must be so proud of what you have accomplished and so happy with the result. I find it difficult to believe it's been over 3 years since I started watching you and the shipyard crew rebuild this boat. What a journey and what a result. Congratulations to all involved.
I bet Leo didn’t say he splashed his boat, he’s a real sailor! 😊
Congrats, 3.5 years, of watching you both and the dogs, (the black dog climbing the stairs), with love and admiration wishing you the best.
This ship is a blessing for the eye! For me the most beautiful ship to own! One Dutch word! GEWELDIG!!!
Very nice ❤
You guys have the coolest boat of all the sailing channels
Amazing how Ben looks like he's conned that boat many times before! Almost as if he was born to it!
Hard work done but not forgotten as this allows you to fully appreciate the freedom and serenity soon to be yours, and so deserved ...
Well done to everyone who worked to give Yabba her new life.
Most of all, well done you two for taking her on and making a go of such an enormous project.
Sail safe, sail on and may you ever find safe harbour on your travels.
Cheers! R.
😎👍🍻
I just watched the episode again and it was better the second time around. Yabá is one very special boat! Those lights under the waterline, the ship horn, everything is perfect!
I'm SOooo impressed with the end project! She 's A Floating Queen!
She’s an amazing ship with an amazing crew! Long live Yaba!
Yaba looks so good on the water. You have done such a fantastic job putting your all back together. I'm so happy for you to see you back in the water.
Yaba looks so amazing at night with colored lights under water.
"Swimming with our own finns" Has to be the internet statement of the month! :)
Seeing thr wake off of Yaba's prow, under way, superb. Can we get a "Finally" in Roberta style from Maria Paula.....A truly joyous episode in your saga towards sailing again for you both!
Yaba looks super cool at night with the lights
My wife and I watch a lot of sailing channels when they are building their boats, but we are looking forward to see what y'all do next! The shot of the boat with the lights on near the end of the video is so cool! Best of luck going on from here.
Yaba'-Daba-do I'm so happy for you keep the videos coming, it's getting closer now and everything is looking beautiful, take care until the next time.
There's nothing more pleasing than to reach your goals in life. I wish you both a wonderful time and safe travels.
I was really surprised how well the boat handles and how fast it is. what a blast.
From Canada : Great job guys . Looking good . Watched your videos from day one. Congratulations. keep the videos coming !!!!!!!
Wow, Yaba, she handles like a sports car! Maneuverable and solid, well done!!
She looks so graceful back on the water in full glory. Well done you guys :) Cheers Ray (UK)
We have to agree! Thank you so much!
@@SailingYaba She pulls like a _train_ too! With the high bow it looks like planing.
Once the kettle comes out, you're home! Congratulations and continued best wishes!
🎉💃🏼🕺CONGRATULATIONS on a SUCCESSFUL SPLASH!🕺💃🏼🎉
Remembering back to the early days, all the doubters, especially about the engine that is just purring now. If what we've seen so far is any indication it's going to be an impressive boat under way.
Nice to see water under the keel finally she looks very smart and trim on the water.
I just can not believe how beautiful this ship is
5:54 No leaks, no spills and no ambulances... well done guys !
Good job Captain, First Mate and crew. I am so happy for the engine. Well done. Enjoy the efforts of your labor. Many new adventures ahead. ⛵️👍🏝️🌞
The great challenge has now become a living dream. Way to go guys. Best of fortune to you.
Bon voyage.
Feel great for you guys. What a perfect page in Yaba history. Now, Ben.....whenever you start that beautiful engine, keep your eyes on those gauges. Don't walk away until that oil pressure makes you smile.. :)
It is so nice to see Yaba under power. What an accomplishment after all these months. Cant wait to see her under sail and all the adventures ahead. Congrats to you and your families Ben and MP and to all the shipyard and other friends who helped make this all happen. Great to see Zeka and Nico and everyone enjoying time on Yaba as well. Looking forward to your adventures and stories. Cheers from BC Canada.
I am not usually a commentator but I have been watching your channel ever since you limped it to the marina! I have watched every video right up to launch! Yaba looks so at home in the water, thanks for the pleasure of seeing you two bring your dream to fruition? Sail on!🇨🇦😎
Great to see Yaba on the water and under her own power!! Ben, every boat is different. All the work you and MP ( and the yard) put into her is mazing. Understand, with a refit like this, Yaba isnt the boat she was when she arrived and she will handle differently now.
I was surprised by how nimble Yabá is. But from how she handles, I think she's saying, "Let's go!"
@17:27 is definitely a “finally!!!” moment. 😉
I've been watching your progress since the first Yaba video. At the beginning, I thought the two of you were absolutely mad to even get aboard her, never mind take her out to sea. Oh, how wrong I was! It has been a delight to watch Yaba come back from the brink . Congratulations on all your hard work with an expert team to get you to where you are now. I will continue to follow your new adventures with Yaba.
Yaba cuts thru the water so nicely with that clean new bottom ! The engine work was first class , reliability is key to worry free cruising and she sounds strong and steady .
You’ve done such a terrific job on Yaba' and the engine room looks amazing!🎉 So happy for you both.
It was amazing to see Nico enjoying a ride on the river and one of the brothers who're the owners of the yard enjoying a barbecue at the end. I hope at some point all those involved at that yard get a chance for a short cruise and a barbecue with you as well. Especially the older gentlemen who's almost always never seen without a cigarette, I'm sorry his name escapes me right now. The level of craftsmanship that went into this rebuild was a pleasure to watch, getting it done old school with blood, sweat and tears as they say. Looking very much forward to continuing to see what and where your up to next.
Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...
Nice work guys! You young people have created something special here.
Happy ( MP's ) Dad, great job Sir.
Oh Wow!!! She is looking beautiful!
Oh, Yaba looks nice too.
WooHoo!!! I am so thrilled for you. So much work. Life will now be completely different. Congratulations Captain!!!
Yaba looks beautiful afloat. Yes, this is not like being at the helm of a small sailboat-she is a big girl! I look forward to seeing you complete the work on her and following her with you on all your great adventures.
I will live vicariously through Yabas cruises and adventures
Dear Maria Paula and Ben,
Willeke and I love to see how well Yabá is acting in the water and how smoothly the engine runs so we guess Yabá is seaworthy now. Of course there still needs to be done a lot before Yabá is completely ready but the most tuff parts are laying behind you. We look forward to your next episode and send you love from the Netherlands
It is so awesome to see it in the water moving. I'm happy to see so many supporters helping out when they visit. Hopefully one day I will be on that list. Enjoy the fruits of your work and I'll be waiting for more back here in Winnipeg, 🇨🇦 Canada. Sail on !
WOW, what a beautiful boat in the water. The drone view while underway was stunning. I liked her looks while docked but that shot from overhead at waterline really shows just how great she looks. Full Sails and Happy Trails ! You guys deserve it !
So good to see everything is well. Great launch, excellent workmanship from the shipwrights. All that hard work is about to pay off. Well done both of you. Tata looks fantastic. Congratulations.
Looks amazing guys! Big pat on the back to the hard work done by the chaps at the boatyard and the engineer on the engine, really enjoyed watching their amazing skills. 🙂
Yaba looks impressive big even in the water, and Ben handles her like she is a toy boat !
She looks amazing on the water. The skipper not to bad either.
It is wonderful to see Yaba underway at last.
I am looking forward to your continued story
You have well and truly earned this grand success! Congratulations to you both, to the dogs, your family and friends, and the truly awesome shipyard crew.
What a treat this week Tally Ho and Yaba launching within days of each other MP and Ben you both looks so happy and relaxed with a nice bbq with the builders and your two adotbed dogs see you next week
I can finally say happy sailing forward. Great result after 3 + years.
Guys, I honestly got chills seeing Yaba maneuver for the first time since the beginning, so happy for you.
Wonderful Talky Ho and Yaba in the Water , next Sailing Magic Carpet! I’ll just have to watch all you wonderful boat builders became sailors again!
I’m so happy for you guys! The boat looks great in the water and she’s sitting on her lines. With the new rebuild engine it looks like she is going through the water quickly, awesome. Cheers to you and all of the crew that made it happen 🍾
Tally Ho just entered the water as well, both owners fulfilling the same dream. Restoring your wooden boats from the keel up. Two great videos 👍👍
Amazing to see YABA floating again awesome work y’all 💪
After watching you from the very start, it seems unreal that you are back on the water. I can't wait to see where Yaba takes you!!!!!
Well done Ben and MP and the whole crew. Wow, on the water - and not sinking!!!!
It’s very cool to watch Yabá motor on the water and as I look her over, I can remember all the little details of how each individual piece was built. I feel like I know her almost as well as you do. So happy for you both!
Exciting, and rewarding achievement ahead of the dream future that you two are creating step by step! Perfect...love the wonderful proficiency you two project in all that you do as you learn, and also the seemingly effortless capability to carry foreign languages!!
You are officially on your way to a beautiful lifes journey..God Speed ..... Can't wait to see her sails
great to sea Yaba navigating on the water and how nice it looks all lit up at night
Y'all are the luckiest folk on the face of the Earth right now congratulations
It feels unreal to see Yaba in her right element. Awesome results of your hard work. Enjoy life, Yaba and each other. Love from Norway! Arne
WOW , it looks exceptional in the water .. you all have really done an awesome job of re-creating a boat which already had awesome 'lines to fit your needs .. truly well planed out (kinda) and finished with utmost basic perfection , you should really feel the workmanship as you explore the many water-ways of the world .. i have enjoyed 'every video you have posted .. thanks a million .. steve reis sr .. i have 'no idea why a double post ..
So cool to see your boat in the water and functional. I have enjoyed watching your journey and will continue to follow you guys on your adventures to come
Nice to see Yabá under way again! awe knew I would happen. Just a matter of time! No need for a boat horn in the dinghy as long as The pooches are on board!
This boat build brings a smile to my face we'll done and yous should be proud of yourselfs❤
It's wonderful to see everyone so happy! Good journeys ahead.
Congrats to both of you !!!!! Well done ! She is looking beautiful. At all your journeys Fair winds and a following sea

Yes get some weight on that bow lol amazing work guys she is stunning, i gave a little cheer on that first aerial shot of her under motor 🎉✊🏻🏴
It's so special seeing Yaba underway. Highest Blessings
Well I am happy to see her moving under her own power. And you guys giving her some use she needs a little break in time I would think. I can only imagine how happy you two are to be living on Yaba again. Been a long hard journey. But you did it !
I'm so happy that you're safe onboard Yaba. What a beautiful boat. Who'd have believed three and a half years ago she'd be as gorgeous as she is now? All our love and here's to seeing many more episodes on the finishing and living aboard your pride and joy xx David Swain and family xx❤😊🎉❤
Whoop whoop 🎉 congratulations on the splash. Been following since the beginning and feel like part of the crew! 🥂🥳
I am so happy for the both of you you finally have a home that you can relax and be comfortable as you enjoy the open water! I just watch the splashing of Tally Ho which was very cool they still have a long ways to go to be ready for the sea I have watched Bear channel since the beginning of their journey of their rebuild,😊 thank you again for sharing I love you both Mark.
So proud of Ben and MP. Keep being awesome team.
Ben looked a little like a Rabbit in the headlights while chugging up and down the river lol. You have one beautiful Boat and a great home...and a lot more work to do ! I can't wait.🙂
Ben, you look like a natural behind the helm of that big schooner.
Congrats!
You know…..I thought this looked great in the shipyard! It looks even more incredible on the water!
Great job!
