Nobody understands what djent means and it's so frustrating because I'm still looking for a tutorial that gets the right tone. People seem to think it just means any "heavy" metal tone.
I know what you mean. it’s really hard to find any direct answers in regards to tone and almost everyone responds with the same vague answers, but I think this is because no one really knows and everyone is constantly looking to change their tone for something better. Most of the tone comes from pushing the mid range with a parametric eq. Increase slightly around 250hz to bring more palm mute attack. Boost 1-3db at 700hz , and if the signal lacks high end you can slightly reduce in the 8-15k area while a boost around 4k. I’m no expert on audio production, but I did find that making changes like I described above helped me get a lot closer to what I was looking for. Getting your guitars to fit a mix is a little trickier because you may have to make some EQ adjustments on other instruments as well and that can be very time-consuming.
I really appreciate the explanation of why adjustments are being made to achieve certain characteristics of the tone. We definitely need more videos like this! Thanks Neural DSP Team!!!
This is not just the best Neural DSP plugin but the best guitar amp sim EVER. Period. This plugin makes my Helix become useless. I also suggested my friend who has AX8 to buy this plugin and he's using Archetype Gojira exclusively on heavy distortion guitar sound ever since. Thank you for making this plugin exist!
Great! But I think you should add a LPF and HPF in the cabinet section. Lots of guitarists use to jam on tracks with the standalone plugin or maybe they use it live. So, in these contexts I think those filters can be a life savers!
Yes. When I use Gojira or Nolly in a High Gain setting, I always find myself cutting the Hi frequencies around 10KHz, but I do it with an external plugin inside de DAW. But, you are right. If the plugin could have these filters it would be awesome to use it live with the standalone version 😁
@@ErebosGR that one iss another type of eq, you can't compare It with the lfp and hpf because they are made for different needs. The parametric eq does not give you the possibility to smooth the high/low end with the envelopes (es. 12db/oct) like those filters do.
@@davidegiancane Since it's just for jamming, noone cares about envelopes. Just cut the lowest and highest frequencies like he did on the video and be done with it.
Great to see the thought process so we can refine the preset for our own guitars! Nice video and great product! I ditched my previous amp sims instantly when I tried out Neural DSP Gojira
Just before I wanted to destroy my Mac Mini with Logic as I was not able to tweak a good sound, Neural came with 50% off for all plugins and then this dude shows up and lets me download this epic preset, thanks!
More of this please and thanks for the preset. I use gojira on all my riff creations. Wouldn’t mind a run through on a lead/ solo preset. Having trouble dialing in a good tone on solos.
I went direct into the Quad Cortex for this into the DAW(Pro Tools). Before I was using the QC however, I was using(and still have) a Little Labs Red Eye DI box into a Scarlett interface.
Great video, I transitioned from real amplifiers (when recording) only a year ago and I'm still struggling to use plugins effectively, so this was a big help. Incidentally, that's a great riff, what's it from ?
As a general rule of thumb, it’s best to double track if you want to add punch to your mix. Even quad track in some cases. All of the neural DSP plug-ins output audio in stereo if used as a stand alone application. Hope this helps!
I double tracked guitars so I have one guitar panned hard left and one hard right. I'm adjusting both tracks at the same time. In Pro Tools, you can group tracks together so you can adjust the same plugin on multiple tracks together.
@@pingukid726 Its probably just a one stereo track where he pulls down the mid. Otherwise he has a guitar bus where two tracks are routed to, so he can make the changes on a single plug in window.
The sad thing is everyone's guitar is different, and maybe you're using a vst library, minus the mixing. It will never sound like in the demonstration.
am i the only one that literally cannot hear a difference between the beginning default settings vs after all the fine tuning...? Maybe it's because it's only tiny incrimental changes, maybe a before and after would be more obvious, but just like that i hear no difference as it progresses lol
yes please more of this! always love the tones. still find myself using the I'm Awake lead tone all the time!

this preset has completely knocked off my djentures
Thank you. This helped my tone more than expected on 8 string. The EQ move is the newest to me. Love the pick attack now
Best video for creating good rhythm tone that i have seen in 15 years
steven always makes the best tones and presets🔥
Thank you all so much for everything you do . You are so informative and inspiring !
This was so useful, thanks for the nod to the 8 string settings too. Please keep making these!

Some djenty tones for the Fortin Cali plugin would be awesome!
I was looking for something like this. Thank you so much
That guitar looks absolutely killer!
Loving this type of video. you should bring them more often
These kinda of videos are really helpful
Super useful, thanks! These videos add quite some value to your plugins.
Love your videos, Steve!
That Hapas is beautiful
It's among the best guitars I've had the pleasure of playing. :)

This made me like the default tone more. It has growl
Killer tone man!
Thank you! Can you do a modern death metal or Modern tech death tone? that would be amazing! thanks so much!
Great! Please more videos like this one!
I got this preset and it sounds killer! Nice work! Thank you so much!
please more from this!!!!
Great video, super intuitive. Thank you!
Make a video for 80's hair metal tone
Do you have a video like this for an Erra/Periphery/djent tone with the Petrucci plugin?
Thanx Steven
What is your signal chain for capturing the DI-Guitar ?
I went direct into the Quad Cortex for this into the DAW(Pro Tools). Before I was using the QC however, I was using(and still have) a Little Labs Red Eye DI box into a Scarlett interface.
This is so useful thanks so much, indeed I'd wish for more. A nice lead tone would be awesome!
Awesome! Tell me please what Equipment you use to make a sound like that (despite Gojira plugin)?
You don't change the output level on the plugin at all ?

@NeuralDSP link seems to be down. Can you please repost it? Thanks :)
really helpful thanks
I really like the story telling are story teller sound but when I use it it makes My vocals sound way to destorted how do I fix this problem
I know this is an old video but if you guys could do a vid capturing Jesse Cash’s tone I’m sure myself and many others would be incredibly happy 😃
The file for the preset is only for macs?
What gate did you use, and can you recommend me a good gate plugin for guitar?
Does this preset only usable with Archetype Gojira ?
I couldnt get this plugin sounding even close 2 this.
It sounds weak and broken up and i dont know where to even start
this is a great video! i was wondering if there was a way to get that real Jazz fuzz sound out of this plugin
@neuraldsp Is there a computer optimization video? I have a slight crackle pop going on.
im confused, becasuse even with the preset it still sounds muddy.
Thank you so much dude!!
Is this double tracked ? Or what plugin makes it stereo.
Also are you adjusting both tracks or one.?

Am I the only one that gets hum from the neural dsp plugins? Don’t know why it happens, other plugins work fine
me too. wasnt able to fix this yet. though other neural plugins are even worse than gojira
🔥🔥🔥
Hello can you do also for doom metal. Thanks
Sounds great❤
i noticed something pretty basic but that i really need to know. How did you twist one knob but changed both of the guitars? Please i need to know😭😭🙏🙏
