FEATURES
Four state-of-the-art tube amplifier models of Nolly’s own-modified amplifiers are at the core of this plugin. Perfectly captured for an uncannily natural feel.
A crystal-clear Clean, a low-gain, Crunch, a fuller sounding, higher gain Rhythm and a powerful and defined Lead.
The crown jewels of Nolly’s collection of guitar amplifiers are now at your disposal.
Two different overdrives/booster pedals, in addition to a solid state compressor, and even a delay provide enough flexibility and potential for fine tone sculpting and experimenting.
Ideal for detailed spectrum adjustment, the onboard 9-band graphic equalizer allows for total control over frequency response.
Multi-dimensional reverb and feature-rich delay pedals provide all the elements required for lush ambient sounds and adding the perfect amount of depth for leads.
The onboard delay features our proprietary machine-learning generated Tape Saturation algorithm for the perfect combination between cutting-edge technology and vintage warmth and color.
Boasting of 640 impulse response elements painstakingly captured by Nolly using his favorite four microphones, the virtual speaker section is this plugin’s secret weapon.
Featuring four virtual speaker cabinets, each perfectly matched to an amplifier, this section provides our renown multi-positioning technology but with an unprecedented level of precision, and resolution.
The Link-Unlink control allows you to use each head with its matched cabinet, or experiment by interchanging them.
The four amplifiers, combined with the 640 IRs, provide a virtually endless amount of combinations.
Adam "Nolly" Getgood stands out as one of the most accomplished and respected figures in modern metal.
Whether it is at multi-instrumental stints in Periphery, engineering some of the most breathtaking audio productions in the past few years, or even capturing the perfect drum tone, everything Nolly does is executed with absolute precision and a seemingly obsessive commitment to excellence.
Throughout the years, there are very few things Nolly hasn’t experimented with in his quest for the perfect guitar tone, even teaching himself electronics to re-engineer his favorite amplifiers’ circuits to his exact requirements. And screwing and unscrewing dozens of speakers for the perfect cabinet capture.
When we learn of this, we knew we had to collaborate to bring this vision of his to the world.
After countless iterations, thousands of impulse-response files auditioned, we have finally distilled Adam’s sonic vision for the perfect guitar sound into a single plugin.
We proudly present you, Archetype: Nolly.

"the bass control on an amp is really just a high pass filter". thanks man, that changes everything.
For real tho, nolly could run a channel just giving tips like that, huge demand for that kind of information
Depends on whether it is an active or passive tone stack
thats why EVH literally had everything dimed, one of greatest sounds recorded IMO
@@vheissumusic I guess those are terms used in the amp world so i don't quite understand. But from the electronics perspective you can create active and passive low pass filters and I think what you are eluding to, and please correct me if i'm wrong, is that the active tone stack is a low pass filter with a variable output level, presumably mixed back together with the other channels in an additive fashion. This would imply you could control both the output dBs as well as the gain crossover frequency. (however they hardly ever give you control over crossover frequency, would be cool to have an actual parametric eq on my amp though, but everyone does that in their DAWs now days)
Passive filtering is subtractive control, so the only control they provide is shifting the gain crossover frequency on a high pass filter.
Blew my mind when I learned that
Imagine this guy in Periphery

Please, please, Nolly, do this kind of full mix breakdown more often, I'd totally be down to that content
Yeah like once a month for a few bucks, I'd be down. Kinda like NTM with only Nolly haha
Nolly The Mix
Imagine being this talented.
A guitar tone course from Nolly would be excellent.
Yes!
This plugin really gave me the "yep... This is what I need". Liquid Shred and Articulate Lead are sooooo sexy
Awesome, I can witness Nolly's beard in 4K, just like I always dreamed
What's really cool is that the presets he used on the song are included in the plugin. Huge thanks!!!!!
that smirk when the solo ended though
that solo blows my mind. it makes me feel a certain way I can't describe it's just beautiful.
that solo...just beautiful!
19:21 good Christ above, the best solo tone I have heard in my life holy crap
It's literally perfect. Holy shit
danny amit sounds like a clearer marty friedman
Great vid, sounds immense. Nolly such a legend.
Man, thank you for this. I'm a huge fan of your work and this glance into your workflow is insightful and inspiring!
Great video and detail thanks nolly!!
Useful af. Thanks Nolly. I've been trying out the plugins and they sound awesome. I think your archetype will be the first one I purchase.
Thanks Nolly! When checking out the different plugins, yours stood out instantly as I was looking for a great crunch sound. I'm not surprised to see you use it throughout the composition here. I think the pre effects are really useful and versatile too. Love it!
Thanks for sharing all that knowledge, its inspiring!
Nolly the LEGEND! 🔥 🤘, amazing video dude
Would LOVE to see the drum mix breakdown in this. Super smooth programmed kit that sounds great.
Loved this video!
Awesome content! Thanks a lot Nolly
Had the 2 week trial and purchased. The tones are huge and the flexibility is amazing. I’ve got amp sims from presonus ampire, bias fx and universal audio and neural dsp are just leaving them in the dust. Amazing job.👍🏻
Absolutely amazing. All that cutting-treble stuff is really interesting. What a great fat in-your-face sound!
Amazin tastes in guitars as well. Those PRS are amazing.
I got the trial of this and immediately loved it. Such an awesome plugin.
same here, its amazing!!!
Excellnt Sound!! Perfect Archetype: Nolly!
19:20 good lord
Just purchased the full license. Inspirational to say the least!
My boy got me all in love with all these new plug ins, you fucking rule Nolly
Great video!
Great tip about SM57 placement for rhythm guitars! Sounds fantastic during my tests!!! :-D
It's crazy how actually quite difficult and rare it is to get great tones.
F*ck yeah, I'm a drummer and composer and am trying to find great tones... Just got this plugin during blackfriday sales. I have to say I got much closer to my desired sound through this plugin, it's a great help
Thank you for sharing your insights, I learned a lot from this.
This EQ sounds so good to my ears.
thank you professor nolly
It works perfectly with virtual guitars too. Amazing!!
everything this man says makes sense, i fucking appreciate this so much, IT IS UNBELIEVABLE what we have access to nowadays...
I bought this last week after trying out the trail. It was worth the 150 quid I spent.. BEST VST out there. It was this track that sold it originally to me, so nice to see how you put it together
So good.
You can get some really spacey ambient tones using that 2nd amp and the delay and reverb effects.
Thanks, Nolly! Really appreciate it! I just recently bought this plugin and I am really impressed with the sound and tones. But I am sucks at tweaking those settings. 😂
Adam, how do we pay you to make more song breakdown videos like this? My brain doubles in size every time I see you talk about your workflow and creative decisions.
for real I'm on board.
I feel like that’s because it’s swelling due to the length of detail he goes into to get tones
Good grief, the riffing @13:36 is fantastic!
awesomeness!
The Blood Eagle preset is my favorite to base my tones off of. Amazing sim that’s pretty much mix ready with little tweaking.
Mine too it's almost mixed ready except you gotta notch down some frequencies between 2 to 5 k , and don't forget about 3200 to 3500 you really gotta notch that down anyhow
A thousand proverbial light bulbs came on in my head one by one as I listened to this gentleman speak. I followed them as they led me from the darkness
I play 20 years Guitar and have a lot of Equipment, BUT this Plug in is a COMPLETE Gamechanger to me. The first Plug which realy Sound fantastic. Buy it! it is so good, that a real Amp is a pain in the Ass to get "Nolly" fantastic Vision of a guitar Tone. I love my Engl Powerball, my Focusrite Isa and my E906, but this plug is my next Love. Well, done Guys
This plugin will become your second loved after your guitar TRUST.
This man is a guitar tone scientist.
All of the presets are awesome especially the clean and crunch . Overdrive-2 is soo good on every amp , I wonder what pedal it’s based on
This was ridiculously useful. Turns out I'm too dumb to get great tones on my own!
But smart enough to search out for help to get sweet tones! Don't say stuff like that about yourself, mayn. You're a smart dude!
@@yourbore That was so sweet that im crying ;-;
Has a bit of around the fur tone to it. Very soothing gain
The preset "Jam Your Heart Out" indeed sounds much darker than what we are hearing in this video. I copied the same settings using FabFilter ProQ3 and FabFilter MB at around 130 hz same as is shown here. The most important part is what he briefly mentions after he talks about the two additional plugins. "And that's all the processing that's going on APART FROM MY MASTERING SETTINGS ON THE TRACK". This is where (in my opinion) is the slight deception... buy this plugin so you can sound like this but you have to have these two additional plugins along with (possibly more than one) mastering plugin. Mastering can play a huge part in your overall tone, especially if you use something like a Maximizer.
If you look on the bottom left you can see he has processing on his instrument buss too. Theres a good chance that some eq is going on here as well, as he is using Slates Virtual Mix Rack and then Slates FG-Grey Buss Compressor. Unfortunately theres no settings etc and these plugins have so many options to them I doubt you can recreate it
awesome video and tutorial, appreciate, would like to know your settings for the amp, that will be nice
I didn’t expect that he practically used the same amp for the whole song! Impressive as always, Nolly. Awesome plugin!
The final product is complex and tastefull. But when you look the parts separated it has some simplicity. Changed my mind in a lot of aspects. (guitar parts i mean, the drum section i still need to understand how they create that monster)
16:10 Yeah yeah yeah - Maps (? love you Nolly
Nice
Nice, the modern eagle has the same pickups as my guitar came with stock
Hey a little question for Nolly, what's the benefit you find using fabfilter proMB over the dynamic eq part of fabfilter proQ3 to clean up low-mids in guitars?
GGD P4? Just take my money!
*ALL HAIL THE NOLLY!*

I admit I was unfamiliar with Nolly. I got turned on to the Archetypes series because Tim Henson developed one. My music is influenced heavily by Prince's tones and I thought Tim's plugin might lend to that funky rock fusion style. Then Rabea Massaad featured the Petrucci Archetype is an Artist in the presets and had to try it. Did the trial for both and I was impressed, but I still preferred my HeadRush. Not convinced enough to buy. Then I ran across Nolly's tune on the his promo. So I decided to try one more plugin. Nolly's plugin just blew me away. The cleans I found... I developed a funky crunchy tone so easily and then a saturated rhythm tone before I even found the presets. This is definitely going to be one I buy. Now I have to go and discover Nolly's music. Neural DSP knocks it out of the park. I think I identify with Nolly's sound design somehow. Great work man.
Take my money!!
HI Adam thank you so much for this tutorial, i have bought dsp nolly on the back of this. ;-) would you say your PRS is still quite bright sounding even after tuninging down?..im not sure what tuning you are using in this vid. TIA
Pretty sure it’s just just drop d tuning
Nolly what settings do you use in logic to combat latency when tracking live with the plugin ?
What Di Box is used please or preamp prior to going into the VST ???
This was super insightful and makes me really want to compare the plugin to my axefx. Can you share what Nolly used for bass? His bass adds so much to the mix so was wondering if it was parallaxe or his usual periphery based approach. Thanks!
I only see 1 bass track thats di, hed nornally have 3 i think so id say its safe to assume hes using the parallax
this man is a fucking genius oh ny lord
Nolly is the freaking coolest, prove me wrong.
Finally amp plugins that sound non digital. For me as a sucker for saturation and distortion for sound experimentation with all kinds of material sources I finally arrived at a haven and ended searching. Neural DSP, thank you so much :)
Maybe in the future you'll go away from that iLok security nonsense? That's really my only wish for improving your products for customers comfort sake. Maybe? Any chance for that?
Such a cool plugin . Maybe there will be a discount for blackfriday and buy this one + the Stl Andy James , to see what happens , haha!
16:46 reminds me of Alpha (Periphery)
I have watched this video twice and would really just love to know. How much was the preamp your using cost prior to using this software. The Di signal is almost more important then the VST. If you don’t have the proper DI signal coming in prior to this VST you will not achieve what he is. Again if anyone or you Nolly could explain not just your guitar you use. But the preamp/DI prior to achieving this tone. That to would be great ;)
Nooolllllyyyyy.... if your out there? Would there be any possibility of getting the pre mastered mix as a wav file as a reference track... this sounds so good I'd love to try to emulate your mix. I know this is ndsp's channel, could you pls pls relay my humble ask.
what OD pedal in real life would be close to overdrive 2 on jam your heart out? open to everyones thoughts. love that tone
I always knew Nolly was my favorite Periphery.
😅
Given that we this plugin is mainly used for higher gain tones, how effective is the noise gate and noise suppression function in general?
Not sure if Nolly made this video to make us jealous by showcasing the software with his name on it or with his huge arsenal of guitars.
This sounds awesome, i have ibanez az2204n is it possible to get this tone with my guitar ?
Was it a conscious choice to leave the oversampling at "normal"? I can hear a lot of the high-end missing when using the plugin on the normal setting.
m4ssee I think it’s just for CPU saving purposes for the video
Could be also personal preference. I like the 5150 sim (the rhythm amp) more with the oversampling on normal because it sounds not that fizzy (even if that's what the real amp sounds).
Still loving this plugin. Anyone know which delay the delay before the amp is modelled after? It sounds great
Im really glad you said you used a multi-band compressor. I felt like I was cheating recently using one on my latest tone attempt. So happy with it though it really worked. I hated trying to cut out the low end too much just cos some frets resonated too much on the 6th string but prob solved.
Do you have any general settings you use for guitar tones like these? I need to try using one myself soon.
@@jayl5941 I dunno if I'm a good person to ask lol but here's some thoughts: When making the tone use new strings. World's best guitar tone will sound bad with like even 2 week old ones. Im not saying change ur strings everyday but just remember when ur tone chasing, it's night and day with new and old strings. I'm still working on anything after that haha. The impulse response for cabs to me is like guitar specific reverb. Picking a cab and adjusting early reflections on it to me is up there with important stuff. Great amp isn't doing much without a cab to make it sound right is all I mean. For the actual amp: the rest to me it's so infinite and annoying lol. I am always aiming for whatever amount of distortion stops it sounding weak but not much more. A bit more tho lol. Picking hard too. If you don't pick hard its like turning down the vol and the distortion won't react as much. Oh! New strings are so loud I shld also say! Another gd reason for new strings. Just realising this cld turn into a book so I'll stop 🤣 hope that helps somehow
Crap I just realised u meant the multiband specifically. I stopped using it after a dif cab gave me better sound without the issues I was having at that time lol also, I just fk about tbh so I wldn't take my advice on compressors haha. I set the threshold just a couple dB below the highest peaks, low ratio like 1.2, fast attack maybe 1ms? Release at like 80. Every time I'm messing with compressors this is the settings I keep Ending up with. That cld be world worst advice ever
@@tedats cool thanks for the response- and the other stuff was helpful!
@@jayl5941 sweet no probs man!
By extra large amarican cab. Its a mesa cab the american amp or number 3 is a peavy dont know if its a 6506 or 5150
As if the plugin wasn't enough awesome shit as result of neural and nolly collaborating.
Would love a tab!
Watch him play it and learn that way :P
So there is going to be GGD P4 drums???
Ggd invasion
yeah there is
Does anyone know if you can get those modern polyphia esc kinda clipping tones with this plugin cause if it can I’m buying it, I already really like the regular cleans and drive
Where did you get the bass- and drumtrack from?
Any chance we can get this logic project as a download?
Anyone knows where I can find that bridge for PRS he’s talking about? I’ve been to the ANR website but I only see Gibson models?
These tracks were recorded and edited so well, that actually any amp sim would sound great on it. But this plugin sound incredible anyway :)
HOW THE HELL DOES THIS GUY KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT EVERYTHING. BASS, GUITAR, DRUMS; HOW
Which amp is which? First one is modded Marshall JCM800 or Friedman? And what about second one and others?
Black White I think two three and four are a modded JCM, a modded 5150 and a modded Victory Kraken
What pickups are in that Modern Eagle?
What drum plugin did he use in the song?
I am loving this plugin! What drum program are you using?
I see some skills there. U should definitely join Periphery. They have that kind of style
He left Periphery as bass player... But keeps as production
@@hectoreduardofuentealbapel7830 I know. That was a joke.
r/whoosh
How are people using this plugin, are you recording DI with the plugin engaged? Is there any latency?
Hey me again 😅just responded to another comment of yours.
Latency can be an issue depending on the power of your computer and how many plugins are running through your DI channel. You can mainly control the latency via experimenting with the buffer size within your DAW.
