      At 5:11 the tile chips on the left side then at 7:42 tile chips on the right side. Is that a common occurrence with these saws?

    excellent review. on my very first DIY tile backsplash, I purchased a cheapo tile saw. Intended to be tossed after the job was done, was the first time I realized how much I enjoyed tile work. at the center of my next tile project will be a saw like this...... good job.

    Fantastic! I just bought one of these PCE980 saws. Waiting for it to be delivered. You video is extremely helpful in showing how to square up and level the saw. I read about the procedures on other reviews but it's nice to visually see what is needed to do the tune up. I ordered a quality blade as well. Thank you for taking time to review this saw and the many other tile related items you've reviewed. I'm Subscribed!

    Craftsman has been making that exact saw for many years. I love mine (I'm a tile contractor) sure the marks are off, you do have to fiddle with it a bit to get it squared but no one has shown me a better saw for doing backslashes. Sliding tray so no shifting deco sheets, battery powered so no finding a plug in if all electrical was redone, small and light I can't boast about it hard enough. Hilarious it's from what I would consider "junk" brands for contractors. Holds up too. I'm on my second one but both lasted 2-3 years (still work but the rollers wear so much the tray gets really sloppy) that's a long time considering all I do is bath remodels and backslashes

      Adjustments need to be made between the sliding side and the solid side of the table to make them match height, its critical to prevent chipping. Its mentioned in this video several times.

    Just an FYI. That Diamondback 7" tile saw is currently on sale at Harbor Freight for $219 which makes the difference in cost between it and this PC table top saw almost irrelevant. And the Diamondback is a lot more saw for the money. The PC is more portable, but on every other metric the Diamondabck wins.

    some comments & questions from a guy who has never used / owned a tile saw.
    but does have a sears 10" table saw & 80" band saw. with but one visit to
    the ER in several decades of use
    does the 980 let one raise and lower the blade ?
    if not then does one just have a set of different diameter blades ?
    does one ever have to be concerned with surface contact speed like
    when using a metal lathe for optimum cutting / sawing results ?
    like i noticed the same saw blade in use no matter the material thickness
    are there threaded holes atop either L or R-side surface to bolt shim or other aids to ?
    a demo of the 2 table surfaces offset from each other in height and how that
    allows certain jobs woud be welcome.
    is this something done on another vid ?
    have you done a vid showing it making a cut part way, then repeat offset 1/16"
    anbd repeat to make a channel ?
    how about cutting at an angle , like a wood table saw is adept at ?
    is it possible to run 2 or more 7" blades at the same time ?
    as the reservoir water becomes contaminated with tile grit ... what are the
    guidelines for changing to fresh water ?
    i know its called a 'tile saw' and ask if thin metal pieces , say 1/8" mild
    steel are saw-able too ?
    and all that water flying around ..... there are many bearings in play here.
    have you no comment about their life expectancy in such an environment ?
    alrite, that 's all i can think of .

    7:42 Large chip breaks off right side piece.. holds up left side piece. What if the right side piece was the needed piece? Is there a way to contain the breakage to one side or the other? The way the blade cuts up toward the face on a bottom mounted blade suggests this would always be a problem and not just with this brand.

      What I did was buy a set of 3rd hands and poly my saw in a U shape. Throw a 6x8 tarp on the floor. It's like my own portable tent

    You definitely had a chip at the 7:20 mark with the porcelain.
    It's okay to need to cut the other side first, but it's not okay to act like that chip didn't happen. You seem professional. Professionals just deal with problems, they don't hide

    How does it cut 12 x24 the long way the table doesn't look like it moves that far?

    • @LandbergTileTV
      @LandbergTileTV  4 роки тому +1

      I simply push it through and follow a line. Takes some getting used to, but would highly recommend using a 24 inch manual tile cutter for that.

    • @krehbein
      @krehbein 4 роки тому

      steve beuchert You have to let it hang over the edge for the first 8” or so then set it against the fence. Not a big deal. Fine for a few tiles, but a snap cutter will be faster for more tiles.

    Which is a better saw? The porter cable or the 7in Diamondback?

    • @LandbergTileTV
      @LandbergTileTV  4 роки тому +1

      I would say the Diamondback for sure. It's simply bigger and has more options.

    • @LandbergTileTV
      @LandbergTileTV  3 роки тому

      Gosh, both equal saws. Maybe consider a 7 inch for your miter cuts. Not much more expensive than those tabletops.

    • @squatchhunter6344
      @squatchhunter6344 3 роки тому

      I like the sliding table and you really seem to like the porter cable, I guess I could make a 45 degree block out of a 4 x 4 and lay the marble on that, I only have a few of those cuts and would rather have the sliding table for the rest- I love the videos

      Landberg Tile TV actually i need some help! I redid a bathroom for a family member. I mimicked your latest 4x12 white subway with black grout. I had a buddy grout, i was doing something else. I had 1/16” spacers as joints. He grouted them too fat for me. Whats the fastest way to grind that out? I want to do it myself. Dremel? Multi tool? Thank you.

  • @NativeNYerChicHK
    @NativeNYerChicHK 4 роки тому

    The thing that holds the guard is in the way and makes all my cuts at least 1/16 off 🤬 I can not for the life of me figure out how to adjust the depth of the blade so I’ve just removed the guard and stand to the side a bit so I’m not getting sprayed with water. And I can’t find a how to anywhere. What a real pain in the ass this is, I want to be able to watch what I’m cutting, but I can’t. Really really frustrating.

    • @LandbergTileTV
      @LandbergTileTV  4 роки тому

      Yes, that's sounds frustrating! Every tabletop tile saw has that same issue with the guard, maybe consider a Diamond back 7" from Harbor Freight or Kobalt 7" from Lowe's. Cheap, but get the job done.

      Landberg Tile TV After trying a few different ones and running into the same problems, I found a blade that is the exact thickness of the guide on this and it even cuts great!!! Got it on cheap on Amazon, it got great reviews (mostly) and it’s absolutely perfect for this saw!!!!!
