Great video - let me clear up a misconception about the slots in the cont. rim blades. Not for cooling but added speed. In diamond blade engineering slots or serrations add speed. The bigger the distance between segments the more speed but you run the risk of breakage (on concrete blades)and on tile blades you need a clean cut so the slots are very thin.
The types of blades. Some basic understanding of the different types.
1. Dry or Wet - Dry blades can be used wet - wet blades cannot be used dry.
2. Material designed for - porcelain blades will cut anything.. Ceramic blades are cheaper and will struggle on harder materials.
3. Different types of segments
Continuous turbo (serrated blades will cut faster but not as clean - exception to this is the mesh turbo - like the P4 - with the raised hub. These new style blades do cut pretty clean but not as clean a the thinner continuous rim tile blades.
Continuous rim - these thinner blades cut cleaner (no chipping) when they are supreme grade - nothing cuts cleaner and smoother.
Continuous rim with slots - The slots (all types like j-slot or slots with shapes) are for speed (not cooling - cooling holes in the core are for cooling). You gain speed and still get a smooth cut but not as clean as a continuous rim without slots.
New Mesh Turbo style with raised hub (like P4 or Diamax Cyclone - very popular and many manufacturers are making this style). These supreme grade blades can be used dry - can cut everything fast and smooth - just not as clean or chip free as a supreme cont. rim as mentioned before.
So you need to decide - how clean of cut or is it speed you want - wet or dry - depth of cut and what type of tile you are cutting. Cheaper blades can get the job done, but you often sacrifice, speed, life and chipping.
Typically the more expensive blades have a higher diamond quality and concentration - resulting in the ability to cut harder tile or stone cleaner with longer life.

I have the Dewalt blade in my saw. It seems bent and a lot of vibration. I’m assuming these thinner blades can bend easier. I’m thinking of getting the pearl blade.

I've been doing tile for 35 years and my go to blade for all material is the Dal-Tile Porcelain blade. It's $39 and gives thee best cut of any blade I've ever bought and used. Almost a factory finish it's so good. I've tried most of the ones he has here. The only bad thing about the Dal blade is it wears out faster than others but since I do mostly custom tile work it's a very small inconvenience.
I prefer a continuous rim blade because I can hold my finger against the blade when trimming a little extra off. I like the Pearl P5 porcelain blade.
I don't know a thing about it.

we use a blade called PorcePro+ j slot blade by sawcutting specialties. It's meant for the hardest of tiles, cuts amazingly well very little chipping in any type of tile. and lasts a very long time. If you get a chance I recommend ordering one. Hell even tho we shouldn't, we even cut thru metal trims and schluter with it regularly.
I used the P4 for my bathroom ceramic wall tile and porcelain floor tile. I thought it cut very smooth, no problems. You do awesome reviews, very interesting.

Great video , pretty much used every blade on your table, depending on materials I change blades , my go to fo day to day is the mk hot dawg , I like the beast for more dense tiles, I do dress the edge which helps especially when running mass amounts of hard cheaper tile , qt, ect... thanks for video

Great video. I'm always looking for the next best thing and I've been curious about the new mesh blades, that's why I watched your video. I've been cutting tile for 33 years. My favorite is Solid Gold. It is a continuous rim and the longest lasting, fastest, least chipping, best priced blade I have found. It's a porcelain blade, but we use it for everything. It's similar to the Razor T3, but a little cheaper and It lasts longer. It has a very thin kerf (which makes it fast), but it has the larger, thicker core (for keeping it straight) and a wide diamond edge to start (to make it last).
P4 is our favorite mesh blade! It rocks!

@@gloriacarina1 it was a private label contractors direct blade that has been recently discontinued 😕. They blamed manufacturer quality control issues.

Hey I am a DIYer which I have done several tiling jobs for personal and family which I used a 8" Rigid wet saw. I was hoping you would do a demo using a Rigid blade to see what you thought. Each time I have used a Rigid 8" blade they have seemed to chipped tile. I recently tried a QEP and Rubi and had good results getting clean cuts using both. I would like to try some of the ones you mentioned! Thanks for sharing!

I've used just about every high end blade on the market up to over 200.00 for a 10". My favorite go to blade for porcelain, both glazed and thru bodies is the mk 225 (hot dog). Keep in mind you must dress your blade every so often to get the most life out of them. 30 years in the trade.

@@aportman58 'Dressing' the blade requires using a dressing stone, a brick-like abrasive stone, to condition a diamond blade. It works by removing any glazing that may occur while cutting tile to expose fresh diamond. Generally, it is best to dress a blade for every 60 linear ft of tile cutting.
@contractorsdirect can you use a plain old brick for this purpose or do you have to use a specific Stone?
@@stephentoth8281 A standard brick should do the job in a pinch. This dressing process still technically wears out the blade, so you only should to cut into the brick about 1/2". The abrasiveness exposes more diamond bits, allowing the blade to cut better.
@@Contractorsdirect1 if you do a job and you're sussing out the walls for square, and the angle of one wall is too obtuse, with the far end being say 100mm (4 inches) out at the opposing side, and we'll say the walls are 3m (9.8ft) x 3m (9.8ft) what would be your favorite approach to squaring that wall?
It should be noted that the Beast blade he uses here has what he calls a large arbor. It has a rubber like washer or arbor fused onto it that is there to make super thin cuts without the blade bending. This works great for thin cuts but a major drawback to consider is the rubber washer gets in the way of plunge type and other cuts. The rubber is very close to the edge and is wider than the blade width on the tile.
I've found that typing tiles to get a square cut mostly the prob with the beast but don't talk shit cause that's my go to.😆🤫
I know in you review of the DiamondBack wet saw, you stated the DiamondBack blade that came with it appeared to be cheap and would need to be replaced. I purchased that wet saw (the 10" DiamondBack) and I have found the DiamondBack blade to be a very good blade. I have done 6 showers, and 3 floors with one blade, and today, I started another shower and the blade is still going strong. No chipping on the cut line, no end cut chipping of the corners, the blade has performed EXCELLENT. I used to buy the $80-$100 blades, but not anymore. The Dewalt blades, in my opinion, are junk. Maybe it's just been the "luck of the draw" for me, but I will stick to the DiamondBack blade. This is one item from harbor freight that is definitely worth buying. And no, I'm not biased either, I use the Dewalt DWS779 miter saw, Bosch, Rigid, Milwaukee and Hitachi. So I know what good quality tools are.

I've had NO luck with dewalt. I will try MK and diamond bar for sanding. You are totally awesome. The original 7" Ryobi was fabulous. Somebody used it now it chips. They don't sell their own blades.

Who makes the blade that came with my Ridgid R4093? I’ve not used any other blade or wet saw for that matter. Luckily I don’t have to feed my family with my tile skills, just enjoy learning and doing new things.
I’ve always had good luck and a very nice cut with the Grip Rite blade!
This is a hard decision i usually use a mid priced blade because it is most likely at a big box store. But now i usually go with pearl do to the sound level.

Why didnt you make both the ceramic and porcelain cuts with each blade at one time?
Seems to me it would be pretty hard to remember the comparative sound and feel of each blade if you were switching back and forth between materials, too.

I have been using the mk225 aka hot dog blade for years, for the money and life of the blade, it's the best. Alpha would be my second choice.
Pearl blades are my favorite.
Porcelain is the least forgiving on blades. Most cut ok for a little and then get slow and split at the end of the cut. The best I've found are the MK hotdogs. I've worn down to the steel over the years. It's all I use unless I'm cutting glass.
T3 razor blade is excellent choice also . Cuts and designed like RTC but can be found at 79.00 . Good video , great intro .

Perhaps you’ve posted a video regarding the best glass blades but what are your top choices in this regard?
I like the P4 but they don't last very long at all. I also recently had one where the inner bushing came loose and my Dewalt acted like it was about to take off while slinging the blade loose. It scared the hell out of me. I thought it was a bearing but when I took the clamp off to remove the blade I found a small gold bushing. It didn't even occur to me until I tried to put it in another saw and realized the arbor was much larger than 5/8. This is the first time I've had this happen and hopefully my last.
Alpha porcelain blade is my go to, 100 bucks but outlasts anything I've used in the past. Super clean cuts and zero deflection

The one I have now has been on there for years, and has cut a lot of ceramic, marble, and porcelain. What I need to get is one of those diamond edging tools. Th as his for the video. Oh and your other ones are good too on reviews, but I don't need a new saw.

Yes! an overhead saw generally makes better cuts for sure. Less chipping..
is there less chipping on an overhead because the blade is cutting downward from the tile surface ? would flipping over a tile to cut it on an undermount improve the cut quality and chip resuction ?

I bought one p4 blade and it was horrible, I must have gotten a bad one, or a knock off from Amazon. Tge best blade I've used so far, surprisingly, has been the most expensive rigid blade home depot carries. I was cutting 3/4" porcelain pavers, will try the hot dog next.

We are cutting porcelain tile with the black widow. We are getting a corner chip at the very end of the cut. We are going very slow. Thinking of trying the P4. Thought??
Detroit industrial with the J-slot is the best, cuts very clean and it last practically for ever....after that I think the beast is one of my favorites

that P4 blade is a awesome blade but it runs out way too quickly on porcelain, i have a few P4s but personally prefer the Bosch, and the Xp4. though the Turbo shield is amazing as well.

Man I thought the red was a zipper blade. I start at your $100 am go to $180. I bought two dewalt saws this year and just take the blade off. I’m a firm believer you have to have four blades, solid rim, j channel for porcelain, high hardness porcelains blade with stabilizing attached and a really high end glass blade. The red Zipper blade is an awesome blade with diamond mesh on a solid rim.
And follow up you do realize that only the ones with slots or “J” channels are for porcelain. The mesh can be both. Solid rim like the Bosch or dewalt are really only useful for ceramic to wall ceramic. Usually the $25 type of blade is used for concrete, grout removal or super soft slate or some natural stones that clog the diamond pours. Hope this helps. Good video.

Nice video. I tried Peal P4 for miter cuts but found it was not stiff enough and tends to drift for longer miter cuts. Wondering what the stiffest blade you have evaluated is for miter cuts. Thinking a continuous rim may be best for miter cuts. Cutting porcelain and ceramic tile materials. Comments? Thanks

What style of blade do you recommend for cutting very hard black granit?,,. I'm cutting pieces the size of a brick, and some a little bigger. I'm using a brand new 14-in wet dry saw, 14-in blade, Electric handheld,,, 15 amp. 🤔 It is made by extreme power us, whatever that is. I got it through Walmart. It seems very well made. I have not tried it out yet, just got it today UPS ground. Under $300.
Question: Why didn't you include Senteninel Brand in your list? Floor and Decor is such a huge store and I get that this is their brand, but I can't find reviews on this blade anywhere. GIven that the store specializes in stone/tiles etc, one would think their blades would be worthy. So curious as to why it wasn't included in your test. Thanks for explaining.

Try a bd-305 agate blade from mk diamond. Its a lapidary blade made specifically for use on a tile saw. Id be willing to bet money even on tile if will blow all of the others out of the water. Its not cheap though.

Glass tile blades are an
actually grinding wheels as they don’t have teeth to cut. Aluminum needs teeth to cut. Better to use a chop saw with as many teeth on the blade as possible or bandsaw

My friend has a problem I suffer from. When filling the spaces of the ceramic lines in the ground, cement is stuck very often because the ceramic is very rough. I wanted to name a substance on the ceramics before filling the ceramic spaces
