    I love it. After shattering tiles on a manual cutter this looks like a big improvement. I'm going to have to redo my entire kitchen, living room and hallway in ceramic tile after I properly level the slab.

      If you haven't already you can order the R40211CN (current model, nearly the same as this) with stand for $250 after tax. How do I know? Just bought one last month!

    You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

    Had this machine for about 2 years not to happy with it I did 2 floors in my house worked fine for the floors because I was able to hide my cuts with the base boards but it does chip quite a bit and breaks the corners of tile at end of cut
    Started a bathroom conversion from from tub to shower I think I'm going to give the overhead rigid a try instead see how that one works out its on sale for 309.00 hopefully it does way better than this model plus the table moves on the overhead one I'll be finding out soon going to home depot tomorrow to pick one up

    I just purchased this saw a week ago. It still has the same issue with the tabletop damaging the finished side of the tile. Because the table does not slide you need a slippery surface to move the tile along into the blade. Also, I have gotten the little chip at the end of the cut, which requires pre-cutting or scoring the tile at that location before doing the full cut. The other issue with the saw is that for crosscuts > 10", you need to make two passes, with the first to cut the tile down enough so that it will fit on the table against the rip guide. It is not advisable to try to cut freehand - the tile will wander and the cut will not be straight.

    I just won one of these at Auction NIB for $56.20 and will be tiling my whole house and maybe doing my neighbor's too when her husbands at work. lol
    The positive reviews out numbered the negative reviews.
    I was going to use my 14" Target Porta Saw with a thin tile blade that I use for pavers but felt that maybe doing tile I would need something a little more delicate to cut with.
    I wouldn't cut tile face down anyway because of possible breakout and if you have to do miter cuts there is always tape to put on the face if needed to avoid scratching the tile and on the cutting line.

    Thanks for the vid. I'm interested in this saw and can't find many reviews on it. The removable overflow is only good if it doesn't leak while you're using it, 'cause you don't always have a dedicated table or stand for the saw. I'd rather the folding supports for the two angles also be aluminum, but altogether it looks like a decent unit. Thanks again!

      MG-70 the basin drain plug will leak a little during a multi day project when you are draining it afterwards, some shavings break the seal. If you wipe the drain hole and gaskets on the plug well, it won’t leak

    Just recieved for Xmas, 2nd time I used it the locking mechanism on the fence broke, cheap plastic. The kinda thing you would expect on a Harbor Freight tool at 1/2 the price or less, not from something Home Depot is selling at 257. Reminded me of why I switched to Dewalt a few years ago as Ridgids quality continues to decline in my opinion.

    too bad you didn't show the long side being cut. These lower end saws always get pinched at the 7 inch mark of the long side and chips the tile. But you didn't show that. Otherwise, great video.

    Think you can cut 2.5” pavers with this if you flip the paver and cut twice?

    • @steveva7591
      @steveva7591  2 роки тому

      It would not cut all the way through, you would have a half inch or so that you would have to snap free. For pavers I use an angle grinder, saves money on blades. If you cut pavers with this saw, you will wear out the blades and have to clean dust sludge out of the water basin fairly often. You would also have to move a bit slower as the motor is meant for tile

    • @steveva7591
      @steveva7591  3 роки тому

      That sounds pretty odd. Maybe the splash guard holder is rubbing against the blade? No matter how tight, the blade should spin. This may be a defect.
