    Great to see you, Alex! Get yourself a £30 steamer from Amazon. It’s takes 5 minutes, very easy and satisfying, and you’ll wear your skirt. From one hater of ironing to another.

    Hi Alex. Great makes! Have you ever tried a hand held steamer for your items that need ironing? Keep it in your bathroom and hang your item on the shower rail and it only takes 3-4 minutes to do anything. I have given them to my adult kids who don't want an ironing board and iron in their apartment. It is fast and easy- not like ironing at all. Try it! You can always return it if you don't like it

    I absolutely love your Delano dress - in that plain fabric it looks very designer. I now really want to make one in a denim as agree that a plain, slightly thicker fabric probably makes it more wearable for everyday.

    • @AlexJudgeSews
      @AlexJudgeSews  Рік тому

      I thought about denim too, but was concerned that it might be too thick for the gathers and pleats, chambray would do the trick - oh no, now I want to make another one 😂❤

    Thanks Alex. I love how you’re always introducing new or lesser-known pattern companies to us. It’s so good to see how you match them with beautiful fabrics and sew them so beautifully. I am nearly 70 but still hoping to one day sew as well as you! I especially like your taste and style so that’s always a bonus too 😊.

    I love your Friday Sews episodes and watch them whenever I can. I thoroughly enjoy your open conversations about your makes. As a knitter and dressmaker I appreciate the time and effort involved in each project and to then make videos to share is another project entirely! So,please keep on with these. They're fun to watch and always informative!

      @@AlexJudgeSews knitting is my daily practice and the sewing is something that I do more on a whim, so quite the opposite to you but still fun! When I got back into my sewing I had no idea how many indie pattern companies were out there, so your YT is a boon for keeping updated.
      On the knitting side of things, you might what to have a look at Ravelry, if you haven't already. It's a treasure trove of patterns, yarn info and sources, and designers.

    How wonderful that you have found so many dungaree patterns from suggestions from your viewers. When my husband and I started dating in the late 70's we both wore overalls. I'm so tempted to make myself another pair but not sure if its a look for someone almost 65. Here in Canada overalls are like dungarees and coveralls have sleeves and usually a front zipper closure. They are usually made to be worn over your clothes to protect them or they are insulated to keep your warm. I had open shelving for my fabric but it was my cats that kept climbing up and sleeping on it. I found a very large dining room hutch at a Habitat for Humanity store on sale for $80. The bottom half has shelves with wood doors and drawers and the top half has glass shelves and doors. It's great so be able to see most of my fabric and not worry about the cats enjoying it. I LOVE your Fridays Sews.

    I recently stayed with a friend who has a steamer and am seriously considering buying one since using hers. Great for fabrics that crease in one section while you are ironing another. I’ve used that herringbone cupro from rainbow fabrics and have found it gets easier to iron as you beat it into submission after a few washes.

    Alex, you need a seam stick in your pressing tools! I could never take the time to do the paper under the seam allowances. A seam stick is a long, half round piece of wood. Press your seam on it, the allowances fall away and never show. Invaluable! Love your channel. It’s great to see your works in progress!
