    You can wear the pink shirt as a spring jacket over a tank top. That would be cute.

    I made swimsuits and leotards in the early 90 s. They were very easy and flattering. Use some extra fabric to make a skirt so it makes a dress or coverup.

    Thank you for the great video! I am inspired by your pants/shorts pattern and the use of the toweling. I had a floor-length lounge dress with a front zipper in the early 70s which I loved. I have been looking for an elastic waist pants pattern for a while and this one looks perfect, love that it has different leg options. I appreciate the time you take to provide such informative videos.

    Love everything you have made, I like the t-shirt dress cos it isn’t clingy, and the fuchsia blouse looks like a great summer jacket to me. The towelling stuff looks really comfy and cosy but stylish as well - we would expect nothing less from a lady of your style calibre! X

    Love the towelling wardrobe! When I was younger I had a sort of caftan with a front zip. It had a sort of long yoke back and front and slits to the knee. I’ve been trying to recreate that for years it felt wonderful. That towelling would do it and the. I need the pattern.

    I was a teenager in the 70’s and ‘Terry Towelling’ was quite popular. My sisters and I spent our summers at the swimming pool. I made an A-line shift dress with zipper at the front to wear over my bathers. I loved it! I have not seen much of this fabric since. Love your outfit.

    So impressed by everything you make! Try soaking the poplin blouse in 2 liters of original Coca-cola for a few hours to soften it. It wont stain and works on linen and denim. With the gathers softened, you could press the button placket if needed but wear it rumpled like washed linen, especially over a sleeveless tee.

    No swimwear tips, but I have used fluffy fabric many times and have found that if you cut your pieces first and throw them in the dryer for about 5-10 mins with a damp towel, it pulls off most of the fluff so you can sew them with minimal shedding.

    I think the fuschia top has too many gathers. I made a blouse like that but slim fits without gathers. It was a pattern put out by one of the big four pattern companies in the late 80's or early 90's. It suited the structured extended shoulders. Your terry towelling pants and shirt look great.

    Fab makes as always. You do inspire me! (Recently made 2 stitch birds and 2 sewing revival flounce dresses for my hols and love them all.) I have the classic pants pattern ready to go when I drop a stone (or 2!). I love your Alena dress and prefer it tighter at the back as you have done. Also loved the fascia shirt but agree it is more wintry and a bit more formal so could be more dressed up than down if you know what I mean. Good Luck with the swimwear- I have no doubt you will do an amazing job.

I think I will check out those trousers as I’m looking for a flat front pair for wovens. I am trying the Style Arc Fifi (for mom) but the pant leg is wide. Did we all have Terry cloth play suits in the 70s? 😂

    I love the toweling outfit. The fit on the shorts and slacks is perfect. I will be checking out that pattern. I agree with you about the short sleeve width, I also prefer a slimmer look. I had a flashback of visiting my older teenager cousins when I was 10 or 11. They were cutting out toweling for probably beach coverups and there was fluff everywhere. It was flying through the air as they were down on the floor cutting the fabric. I think I've sewn with every kind of fabric but toweling, but you have inspired me to give it a go. I do have a suggestion when making a swimsuit, make a mockup of the bottoms to make sure you get the bum coverage you want. Good luck with the swimsuit. Now I must check out some of the patterns you used.

    Fabulous towelling outfit, I do a lot of sea swimming and have made the Robbie Pants by Tessuti in towelling along with the Stella Hoodie which I adapted to have a zip front and can strip off the wetsuit pop them on and hop in the car which is great. They are however very utilitarian, yours really looks quite glamourous. Was wondering could you redo the elastic on the back of the stretch dress as it did elevate it when you pulled it down a bit but it still looks good on you. Fibremood does my head in which I have to remember everytime cos the styling is great but I tend to just use it for inspiration having been burnt in the past.

    Please delete this comment Alex, if you feel it is none of my business and also not appropriate to a sewing vlog.
    I would be really interested in your gym work and lifting weights and how you have achieved the changes to your body shape. Plus, is that a Zoe patch on your arm? Have a couple of Tim Spector’s books and have wondered about joining up.

    • @AlexJudgeSews
      @AlexJudgeSews  Рік тому

      It is a Zoe patch, I forgot I was wearing it until I came to edit the video! I listened to a podcast with Tim Spector a while ago and started following some of his advice as it made a lot of sense to me and then treated myself to Zoe membership (not cheap). I'm a few weeks in and really enjoying it, it gets really good when you get your individual results and can see which foods work specifically for you. I also like it because nothing is forbidden, because that's the fastest way to make me want something 😂. I only started looking at my diet because I forced myself to join a group training gym and as someone who's never liked exercise I didn't want to feel that I was undoing all my hard work. My motivation has been to have an active old age, the change in shape is a byproduct really, I wasn't looking after myself and was worrying about what might be in store in the future. I'm very lucky to have a great gym, I like that it's women only and I even almost enjoy lifting weights now, it's also only 1 min walk away so I can't avoid it. The biggest and most unexpected change for me is that exercising makes me feel much happier and less grumpy 😂
