R&N 425 CNJ 113 Doubleheader - Minersville Christmas Trains
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 гру 2014
- Reading & Northern 425 and Central Railroad of New Jersey 113 operate steam doubleheader excursions out of Minersville PA.
The 113 is an 0-6-0 type steam locomotive built in 1923 by the American Locomotive Works, also known as ALCo for the Central Railroad of New Jersey. The 113 is the worlds largest 0-6-0, she is one of the only operational Anthracite burning steam locomotives in the USA today.
The 425 was built in January of 1928 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia PA for the Gulf Mobile & Northern. The 425 is currently the Reading & Northern Railroad's goodwill ambassador and tours its 300 mile rail system.
Don't forget to comment, like, share, and subscribe to see plenty more great railroading videos from all around the eastern USA, even more of the 113 and 425!

I like the whistle sound on those trains that give me a think about it
Its just 6 chime’s in this video! I love it!
4:45 Central New Jersey 113 was riding really ruff lol
I 100 percent 113 and 425 doubleheader
“Alright, lets go give ‘em a show” I love that guy
I love how with each puff when she sets off around 1:28, you can see the fire glow brighter, like blinking lights. It shows the draft working and pulling the heat through the tubes and air into the fire
Glad you enjoyed
What engine is it
@@funtechxtream8753I think it’s 425 because it’s blue inside
@@Ellathestrasburgdecapod2yeah, I see the red window frames too
@@funtechxtream8753 yep

Go, American Steam Train Engineers !
Nice engines and whistles. But I like the reading 6 chime more.
Glad you enjoyed
Very well done!
Thanks!
Dynamo Productions Welcome!
Another great video from Dynamo! I thought that was a rather large 0-6-0.
Thank you!
+Hendo56 113 is the largest operating 0-6-0 in the USA.
2:05 that also sounds like my original 6 chime :]
It's a SP 6 Chime whistle which almost sounds like a IC 6 Chime whistle
Yea :]
They should get me a sp 6 chime :)
So if 113 had the SP and Reading whistles, then what whistle did 425 have? I love the sound of it!
+Zacharia Kaye 425 has a B&M 5 or 6 chime.
Zacharia Kaye both had SP 6 Chimes
0:14 is that the first time i heard 113 with 425’s 6 chime?
It's from the scrapped 4-6-2 Reading #179
So wait is it true that all reading 6 chimes are from scrapped engines? :O
@@ToritheGSMR1702-mz3rc Yes
Knew it :]
great video!! does 113 have a reading 6 chime or what kind of whistle is that?? It sounds like the whistle on Shay 6 at Cass.
Thanks. 113 was wearing an SP 6 chime and a Reading 6 chime.
Dynamo Productions SP 6 ;)
Impressive whistle on the 425. Is that a IC 6 chime, like 1702?
No, 425 had an SP 6 chime on.
@@DynamoProductions-trains Thanks for answering.
How do you place the GoPro in the cab? Using the GoPro pole mount?
We ask nicely
It took 6 years for you to come up with that? Come on now... ;)
Was the Reading Six Chime on CNJ 113?
Yes, owned by Steve Gilbert. Supposedly of RDG 179.
Jake Pothering Cool, thank you. I wasn't because 425 usually wears it. Glad that you could give me some knowledge. :)
@@AnthraciteSteamHaven Yes, Steve Gilbert owns it and it was off of the Reading 179.
@@dolothedolphin There are many Reading 6 Chimes 425 has worn. This is owned by Steve Gilbert who has put it on 425 multiple times.
@@MPT_Productions even Susquehanna 142?
At 6:10, what's going on in the Firefox?
The fireman is raking the bed to make a more even firebed.
So how often does 425 operate each year?
It usually runs a few weekends a year, often two weekends from Reading to Jim Thorpe and a few more trips out of Reading or Jim Thorpe. There’s also the occasional trip to Tunkhannock.
@@DynamoProductions-trains Ah thanks for the info hope to see it myself before 2022 since she'll be need for her next rebuild. Not sure if I might ever be in Pennsylvania before then but I still hope to see 425 myself eventually since I love pacifics
