After making the video I noticed I keep calling it "ProSonus" instead of PreSonus, sorry, LOL!
Thanks for the video. I was trying to decide between the two.
Hope it helps
so which did you choose?
how does the edifier r1280dbs comapare to these 2? The price here is eris 3.5bt>R1700bt>r1280dbs.
I have a set of Edifier 1700BT's and added a Polk Audio PSW 10 subwoofer and the sound quality and bass is excellent for a bookshelf speaker and with sub the cost was less than 300 bucks.
sounds like a really good system
@@TonyHob I am happy with the system for less than 300 bucks. I listen to lots of music each day. I studied reviews for a few weeks and decided on Edifier 1700BT's. I had never heard of Edifier until I began a search. This system is for my bedroom and it's probably about 15' by 15'. The right size for bookshelf speakers. The Polk Audio PSW10 was a must because I love deep base and it improved the sound quality times two. I am 61 and music has always been a big part of my life. It's nice to have bluetooth speakers. I use Amazon prime for my tunes and it's nice to choice any music you want to hear using your thumb. Of course in my day you had to go to the record store to buy albums. Then put it on the turntable and be careful not to scratch the vinyl. This little system sounds better than a expensive system years ago. Speakers have come a long way in years past. And bluetooth from cell to speakers is like magic. Thanks for the comment. I will be watching more of your comparison in speakers and system's as I am already looking for new speakers.
How did you add the SW I thought the 1700s do not have a Sub Out?
@@mugmasher4309 the 1700s I bought have a sub out
the best review. now I know which one im going to buy
Hola! Buen video 👌.
The edifier sounded boxy (like it was coming out from a box or there's something blocking the sound), these are typical 'computer' speaker quality. After listening to the presonus or good quality monitors, there's no boxy sound, its just so clean and crystal clear. I could never go back to these 'computer' quality speakers now because the boxy sound are very obvious to me. Recently, I met someone who'a looking for an upgrade and I recommended the presonus to hin and explain abiut those boxy soune, he immediately agrees that was what he notices, he felt the sound feels like it was block by something but he couldnt describe it.
Not everyone notices it, but once they do, it will become obvious; just like some people never notice something in a photo, but once they do, it will be obvipus and always sees it.
Additionally, the presonus gives amazing soundstage, you can actually feel the singer singing in the middle right in front of you and its so crystal clear. You'll hear more details that you might never heard or notice before, and even watching videos from UA-cam, the voices of people speaking is so clear and as if he or she is speaking in front of you. The more I listen to the presonus, the more I'm liking its sound signature, there's something unique about the sound aignature it produces and I can't get this even with my KRK Rokit G5, and I bought that for 4 times the price.
I totally agree with you. I have the Presonus at my work computer and enjoy the clarity of the sound. Not quite the same with the Edifier even though my family liked the Edifier. I still prefer the Presonus myself.
@Jim Beam I agree. I'm always surprised how 'reviewers' can make a call on a set of new speakers. All speakers take at least a hundred hours to break in properly, some longer and not all get better some in fact get worse. The Edifiers get better after a couple of days of moderate volume playing.
@@samsantana neither of these were brand new when I compared them for the exact reason you mention. Those cones need to loosen op first.
Man this is driving me crazy. Ive seen some videos and after seeing this one, I was almost decided to go with the edifier but your comment had me again on the fence ha ha ha
I'm very confused. I bought the R1700BT speakers because I thought they were Studio Monitors, but how can I plug it into the Audio Interface?? I have the Audiobox USB96. Is it even possible? Thank you
Connect the Audiobox main out to the speaker input using a 1/4” TS to RCA cable
@@TonyHob thank you so much!! I just ordered a cable from Amazon
Hola.
Thanks
Would you recommend any of these for a single turntable home listening experience?
The Edifier gives a richer sound for music in my opinion. The Eris is flatter and better for mixing.
I have the Presonus (got them few days ago). Trying to decide if to keep them or replace with R1700BT. Music and gaming mainly. I like the sound of the Presonus when you don't listen too loud. When you push the volume up the lows cannot keep up with the mids and highs.
At first I wanted to return them.. now the sound kinda grows on me. I don't like the sound of my headphones anymore after listening to Presonus.
Being monitors they definitely sound better close up. If you turn them up and listen from farther they lose bass like mention. I still prefer the Presonus though since I mostly listen to them while sitting at the PC
@@TonyHob
Thanks. I decided to keep them. I like them more and more every day
I read that the presonus is more for music producing etc and the edifier is more for real listening to music. Is this true? I just want good speakers to connect with my turntable/connect with my phone. So purely to listen to music.
What should I get? The edifier or presonus?
Thanks for the good vid!
I personally like the Presonus better. If you like bass or will listen away from the speakers then the Edifiers might sound better to you. Keep in mind that neither one has big base. The Presonus has super crisp mid and highs and are designed to be near field so they sound best when you are directly in front of them. Since I used them while I sit in front of them at my computer, they sound amazing.
@@TonyHob I live with my gf in a studio so it’s kinda small in here, so I guess the presonus will do good but yeah i might go with the edifiers now you said that. Thanks for the info and keep on making the good vids man!
Presonus all the way for flat sound / edifier its ok but nowhere near presonus audio quality. For starter speaker I recommend Presonus
The longer I have them, the more I prefer the Presonus 👍
The e3.5 is nowhere near flat. Not even close.
@@AbsoluteFidelity KEF Q150 / Mission LX3 MK2 / MA Bronze a decent dac/streamer and amp if you want audio quality
It's actually ProSonus sound wise :)
they do sound awesome
I'm getting White Noise coming out of my presonus. (SPL is at around 10~20db) the problem is it just don't disappear even when im playing something on it. At low level of playing music i can hear the hiss. Is it normal?
Mine did it when connected to my mixer but not when directly to the computer so I thought it was the mixer itself but could be a cable or even the power cord/supply. Hard to tell but I don’t think it’s normal.
Its wierd because the Presonus are more expensive here than the Edifiers
In the US:
The Presonus is $149.99 amzn.to/46yvlA0
The Edifier is $152.99 amzn.to/3M3dUiN
I think it's pronounced pree saw nus.
You might want to read my pinned comment , LOL 😁
@@TonyHob sorry. My bad.
I think you mean prenounced
Pre not Pro 🤣
I mention that in my pinned comment 😂
