A bit of an update on these speakers. About a week after filming this video they decided to die. I replaced them with a set of Genelec 8010A's and a JBL LSR310S Sub. I'm working on a video talking about those but I want to get some proper use out of them first.
Mine arrived yesterday and I’ve been an engineer for years and money is an issue atm, these speakers blew my mind how good they are from the money. Madness. We live in such a luxurious time, when technology is become so advanced.

I remember when I first got these about 2 years ago I remember worrying about whether the bass was going to be too tiny. To my surprise after unboxing them and hooking them up not only were they Bassy enough to fill up my average sized bedroom but the Sonic quality of these things are on point they even have that high-end Sheen that reminds me of something in the way more expensive range like hs50s. Seriously these things are amazing.
Been mixing and producing on these for over a year now. Definitely worth it! Also have had a Presonus interface for 8 years, need had any problems. Great review!
Just bought a pair of these am totally blown away by how good they are for the price and the size. By far the best sounding speakers I have owned to date and have previously spent a small fortune on them.
I've also had these for a while. they are pretty mid-bass heavy (around 80-120 hz) if you dont have a sound treated room, but if you listen to some refernce songs before mixing you can mix music perfectly with these speakers. they are good for everything.
@@ethansmithmusic Yes, if you have bass build up the EQ is very handy, in some cases they are not enough though. I would turn down that bass even in a treated room. Not a big deal, but something to be vary of.

@@jaylow759 they were still working as of a year ago but I ended up getting rid of them, so I’m not sure if they are still going but they were working a year ago.
This was one of the reviews that sold me on the Eris 3.5. Right off the bat, get yourself the Sub8 along side these guys to complete the setup. If you think you don't need a sub you're literally missing frequencies that can't even be heard on the track played in the video 5:25(20-80Hz). The speakers lack in tone so if you enjoy high bass notes(200-400Hz). These may not be the pair for you. Even when coupled with the Sub8 you're still missing tone. MainByte claims these have a flat response and that's incorrect. They are not falt at all and are very coloured. However, I've EQed my pair flat and believe me it sounds worse flat lol. They are boosted at around 100Hz. The outlet at the back and the boosting at around 100Hz makes these speakers very susceptible to the 126Hz resonance if positioned incorrectly. So it took some time findng the correct positioning in my bedroom and lifting them off the desk to stop the resonance. I own the HD598 open back headphones which actually cost more the monitors and these speakers blow them out of the water. I also owned some logitech speakers Z333, and they don't even hold a candle to the Eris 3.5 + Sub8 setup.
I've had my pair for about 1 year now. You can probably guess with this video that the Presonus Eris 3.5 speakers are a bit heavy on the bass. If you are looking to purchase this and your main activity is gaming and general media consumption beware that the high and mid ranges might be a bit overpowered by the strong base. This means footsteps are going to be low and explosions and high-caliber rifles are going to be loud AF. Then again... if you are playing FPS you will mostlikely have a pair of decent headphones... sooo doesn't mean much really :) GREAT SPEAKERS! I wouldn't replace / upgrade / change my pair for anything and when they die (if they die) I will buy another pair.
I bought these Speakers (the BT Version) 2 month ago, because of your first Review of them. And they are really amazing. That was also the first Gear Seeker Video i watched. Greetings from Germany.
I have been using the 4.5's for over 2 years. I sometimes push them much harder than what they are intended for. They have stood up to everything and still sound like new. I'm still impressed with all the connection options they give you although for me they remain connected to the monitor outs of my 24 track tascam.

I'm looking forward to getting these on Tuesday, I've had a set of M-Audio AV40s for years and years now. I finally decided to pull the trigger on a new set thanks to a gift card from my in-laws. Well made reviews like this helped me make my decision and helped me be confident in it! Appreciate the time you put in, well done man!!
@@leandrolutzg I received them and have thoroughly loved them, they pack quite the sound considering their size. Good range with defined highs, mids and lows. I loved my AV40s but I was happy I made the decision to go with this set of speakers, I still use my AV40s just not on my main setup anymore!
They are very good speakers, especially for mixing. I apprecciate their sound a lot of, so clean and so powerfull but after two years I have a tinnitus and I don't know if it depends by this spakers.
Presonus has a lot of work to do with quality control. I've had 2 of the 3 Presonus products I own die multiple times. Including the speakers in this video which died about a week after filming
Bought this speakers a few weeks ago. They were revolutionary. I made my content through headphones and listened to it both on the mixing headphones and a mono bluetooth speakers. Even though I dont have an interface yet, having stereo separation and a wider soundstage is amazing. Love the bass response and sound profile, although my listening spot sucks, but I record, mix and master in my own bedroom, so there's no room for change. They are really loud and full for their size.
I was planning on buying these speakers for my turntable table/ vinyl player. I have seen a video or two recommending them, but I was just curious to see if anybody themselves has used them for the same usage and if they will be any good for that area.
Yes I bought them over a year ago and they are decent, I haven’t had any major problems with them and they sound nice and clear. One issue though that I have been noticing recently is how when turning up da volume to the max you get sum slight popping but I almost never really turn them all the way to that level so it’s not too much of an issue. I honestly recommend them over others at this price range just of pure performance and just their aesthetic. If u prioritize clarity in ur audio and not so much da volume I would say these are perfect. Another thing I wish I knew before buying them was to get the Bluetooth version instead of the regular ones. Sometimes I connect the speakers to my phone thru aux and It is a lil annoying having to keep my phone connected, specially when it’s low battery or I’m not near the speakers. Hope this helps
Just bought these yesterday can't wait for them to get here. I've been using a cheap soundbar that sounds horrible especially when using guitar plugins.
Can someone explain about why it’s not good to connect the rca directly to a device? What am i missing exactly in terms of sound? Looking to buy this but no extra budget to get an audio interface too :-(
At 8:45 you state that you will not get a full soundstage (as wide) using unbalanced connections as opposed to a balanced cable set up. I tried both and this is not the case. Perhaps it may have been something associated with your system in general. I even contacted the manufacturer and they agree with my assessment stating the only issue with RCA or unbalanced cables would be the introduction of noise. If there is no noise then you are good to go with RCA cables.
@@metaphase9331 My audio interface main outputs are connected to the inputs of the Presonus T10 sub, and the outputs of the sub plug into the inputs of the Eris E3.5.
Thanks for the review. Just purchased and waiting for the delivery in a week or so. By the way, what is the name of that first song you played in the demo?
Hi, I had a question for you, if I plug them to a mixer instead of an audio interface would what make a difference and make them sound better than with RCA cables? Thanks!
Great callout on the RCA inputs. I plan to run these with balanced TRS from my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, so that will set me up nicely. Great review and thanks for giving us a view from the long-term!
I don't think there'll ever be the 'perfect speakers' tbh. Technology always progresses fast, especially with music, because it needs to evolve quickly. I'd say anything that gets the job done is perfect.
Funny thing! I have the Presonus 3.5 and The JBLs 8" just like you! JBLs as my main recording monitors and the Presonus for my daily listening/enjoying. Agree with everything you said. I love the warm and crispy quality these guys produce. Worth every penny!
Eris speakers, Studio One DAW (on a new monthly subscription), and their new PX-1 condenser mic that competes with the mighty AT2020 Presonus is knocking it out of the park.
For casual listening, and not for any sort of music production, would you recommend i choose another speaker? If yes, what would you recommend at the same price range? Thanks!
Hello, Thanks for your review. I've just received my E3.5. They sounds awesome connected direct to my pc. Can you make this sound better connecting to an audibox > pc? My usage is only music video and some video editing. Thanks
I don't agree with "headphones only ever goes so far". It all depends on its use case and lots of other parameters. I have high-quality DAC, AMP, and Studio Headphones that would beat most of those speakers in most of conditions...
I ordered the Eris 3.5 for my PC together with the 8" Sub. Great Sound, but the Sub was to much for me sitting right next to it. But now i will use it with another Pair of the Eris for my Bedroom TV. Don´t see many Options that are better within this Price Range.
I really wish they added a sub output on the back panel..thats my only gripe with them..got them for 99 bucks on zz sounds..and im going to get thr 4.5" also.
Great video! Just wondering on why would these sound bad when plugged directly into my motherboard/3.5mm jack? I'm not exactly clear on what is the "audio interface" that you are plugging them in is and why is that needed... Apologies if this is a silly question!
I actually ended up buying these speakers and am running them plugged in, directly into my computer and I think they sound great! Bass is not as strong as some may like, but it sounds very clear and crisp and very well defined. Would definitely recommend for PC/desktop speakers
@@pas0003 there are two knobs in the back to boost the highs and lows if you turn up the low knob it should help with that, but the best option is truly an audio interface
Great video but i have a question about the caveat you were talking about. Assuming i have either a DAC with RCA outs or a headphone amplifier with RCA pre-out, that will solve said issue? That and onboard audio being basically "okay".
@@PrintedCircuitBored Sorry I think this is a related question. How do I connect this speaker to my laptop which only has USB-C and a headphone jack? I suppose I could use a TRS Y splitter to 3.5mm but that would give me mono sound.
@@DSato-ei8jj your best option would be to get an audio interface with TRS outputs. however, the rca doesn't sound horrible, so if you're not creating content, you should be fine with that lol. if you're making music or editing videos, I would recommend getting an audio interface.
Nice one. I use the Harman/Kardon stick because of the style but use a pair of reference pair of headphone just because of that. It makes so much of a difference when you listen to how sound it was intended to sound like. Its nice have that extra base in there for music and games and every. Like you said it, the Flat sound is key. Great video guys, look forward to the next one.
The right speaker is clearly lower in volume and I can't calibrate it... Presonus told me it was normal when I sent it to them, but it is definitely not lol
I've found when video editing that headphones are not enough, even if they're good open-back ones. You gotta unplug and hear what your video sounds like in the real world, on some half-decent speakers. What sounds clear through headphones (like a voiceover) may actually get a bit drowned out by background music etc when playing on speakers. So they really do help you 'monitor' your audio.
@@matthewdoyle8644 I'm on a budget, so for now I'm using Behringer UMC202HD, can't do any comparison as this is my first audio interface, but the quality is good enough for me

I have the 4.5s and they are absolutely incredible!
What I really wanna know is if these speakers will sound as if Nick and Klaire were really beside me giving me Tech Advice.
I was planning on buying these speakers for my turntable table/ vinyl player. I have seen a video or two recommending them, but I was just curious to see if anybody themselves has used them for the same usage and if they will be any good for that area.
did you buy them how are they?
Woooooo First Upload!
Balanced connections are a technique for reducing hum and other interference noise. It has nothing to do with the stereo image.
And if you're cables aren't too long it shouldn't be an issue.
Started with Edirol 3's around 2001. Graduated to 5's. Then 8's. Then good 8's. Now I'm looking at 3's again. Funny how sometimes we come full circle.
Just bought these yesterday can't wait for them to get here. I've been using a cheap soundbar that sounds horrible especially when using guitar plugins.
Can someone explain about why it’s not good to connect the rca directly to a device? What am i missing exactly in terms of sound?
Looking to buy this but no extra budget to get an audio interface too :-(
.
I was really happy with mine, but 80hz wasn't quite low enough for my taste so I got a sub and now they sound amazing.
How did you connect a sub to these speakers?i too want to connect a sub,but can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks!
They would only sound better with balanced quarter inch low impedance cables to a high end DAC
I'm going to upgrade from Behringer MS16's to the Eris E5's.
Holy background music. How does this man do it!?
okay i thought i was the only one i was thinking the same shit
One of the best budget speakers. With the sub, it's everything you need on a budget.
How you connect a sub ?
Great callout on the RCA inputs. I plan to run these with balanced TRS from my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, so that will set me up nicely. Great review and thanks for giving us a view from the long-term!
Rca gives out a lot of static i have heard is it true
I'm confused by this,
my interface only has RCA outputs (UM2), so I guess they're a no go?
I don't think there'll ever be the 'perfect speakers' tbh. Technology always progresses fast, especially with music, because it needs to evolve quickly. I'd say anything that gets the job done is perfect.
Can i connect them with my scarlet solo 3rd generation?
just ordered from amazon. i´m a bedroomm guitarrist and casual gamer, i think they´ll do the work
Great video! Thanks for the detailed review, I've been considering these and the Edifier you showed. This was a big help..
Are these speakers already calibrated?
that track dam bro sick track love it. congrats on the vid and sick info.
Funny thing! I have the Presonus 3.5 and The JBLs 8" just like you! JBLs as my main recording monitors and the Presonus for my daily listening/enjoying. Agree with everything you said. I love the warm and crispy quality these guys produce. Worth every penny!
Great review! Will be receiving mine tomorrow together with the Focusrite interface, can’t wait to actually hear what they sound like🔥
Do you need an amplifier?
No
For just listening to music (mostly electronic ) would you get the edifier or the eris 3.5?
Eris speakers, Studio One DAW (on a new monthly subscription), and their new PX-1 condenser mic that competes with the mighty AT2020
Presonus is knocking it out of the park.
Speaks about how amazing and flat their sound are and at 8:32 we see he bangged the 2 EQ potentiometers to the max
lmao
is it suitable for mixing music?
For casual listening, and not for any sort of music production, would you recommend i choose another speaker? If yes, what would you recommend at the same price range? Thanks!
I want the 3.5 speakers for piano/keyboard playing. I think they’d be perfect for that use!
Hello, Thanks for your review. I've just received my E3.5. They sounds awesome connected direct to my pc.
Can you make this sound better connecting to an audibox > pc? My usage is only music video and some video editing. Thanks
I ordered these speakers to play keyboard through. I have a small room, so the size is just right
can you make a review on Edifier r2000DB..
I have mine for more than 1 year now and they're just great..
Awesome review. Can you give some more info about that connection how it works. What's the best way to plug them in to TV?
I really wish they added a sub output on the back panel..thats my only gripe with them..got them for 99 bucks on zz sounds..and im going to get thr 4.5" also.
I was nervous about ordering these. But your review was awesome. Thanks. I'm getting the bundle.
Great video! Just wondering on why would these sound bad when plugged directly into my motherboard/3.5mm jack? I'm not exactly clear on what is the "audio interface" that you are plugging them in is and why is that needed...
Apologies if this is a silly question!
Get a audio interface and it should fix the problem
interested inthis question as well, if im not creating content, should i not buy this without an audio interface?
same question, can anyone answer to us? helooooooooo :)...I just ordered these babies
Best speakers 🔊 I’ve owned a pair for more than 4 years
You really need a audio interface for these?? Could it may be a product defect?
I'm looking to buy this soon and need answers!
you dont need it, but it will make your experience a little better. these can be used without an interface!
Do you recommend this for gaming, music listening and movies?
I may have the opportunity to get the Eris 5. I like a nice bass kick, do you think the 5 is worth the upgrade?
Should I get this now? to save up for Yamaha Hs5s?
Great video but i have a question about the caveat you were talking about. Assuming i have either a DAC with RCA outs or a headphone amplifier with RCA pre-out, that will solve said issue? That and onboard audio being basically "okay".
No it wont. The outputs need to be balanced
Woo, great video fams. Speakers sound amazing
Plan to use these as desktop speakers primarily for casual gaming and listening to music. Will having an audio interface make a difference? Thanks.
Are they good for djing in my bedroom? Are there better alternative with similar prices for djing?
Thanks for the explanation. Im trying to looking for some speakers.
Can I plug these straight into my gaming monitor?
This or Edifier MR4 for casual trap music listening and maybe some amateur beatmaking?
The right speaker is clearly lower in volume and I can't calibrate it... Presonus told me it was normal when I sent it to them, but it is definitely not lol
I have them since a few years back and I just love them, thinking about getting another pair actually
I'm rocking a pair of these and a pair of Mali LP6s in a treated room. Awesome for referencing!
Weighing up between these and the Edifier MR4 for a beginner desktop setup - what do you think?
Edit: considering the Samson MediaOne M30 too.
Are there new and better Products of Presonus Eris ?
thinking to include them to my home theater setup. e3.5 or e4.5 is what my confusion is
I've found when video editing that headphones are not enough, even if they're good open-back ones. You gotta unplug and hear what your video sounds like in the real world, on some half-decent speakers. What sounds clear through headphones (like a voiceover) may actually get a bit drowned out by background music etc when playing on speakers. So they really do help you 'monitor' your audio.
I Just got them and there is a thing when you get brand new speaker monitors they take time to break in and they unleash their full potential.
Hey guys do u now if these monitors have the 3.5mm cable to be connected to the pc?
They do have it
Are these speakers still worth it? And can i connect this with a turntable? (Lenco ls-50).
Thanks, great vid!
Are these good for making beats
listening to this with my E5 XTs
Do you have a audio interface? I have my E5 making staticky noise due to having no audio interface I will buy one soon
@@matthewdoyle8644 I'm on a budget, so for now I'm using Behringer UMC202HD, can't do any comparison as this is my first audio interface, but the quality is good enough for me
It sounds good. No noise. Depends on your cable and interface electricity.
Planning on buying an audio interface when black friday/cyber monday comes around... do you know if using a dac/amp combo makes these speakers sound better?
