Snow removal in Sweden ! To remove snow from your roof with a rope, you pass the rope under the snow from the high point to the low point and keep the rope taught on either end. This removes the snow's grip, and so it slides right off , I seen it work ! And use a sawing action !

This isn't a typical season in the California Sierra's by any means. Mammoth Mountain just passed it's all time record this past weekend of 656 inches (over 16,782mm) in a single season. Presently, that's the most snow recorded anywhere on Earth. It's insane. Worse, there are more storms in the Pacific Ocean heading towards California.

And I thought we got a lot of snow where I live, just checked and the best average I can find is 240 inches per year with a high of 420 inches. I know how hard it can be to find enough room for all of it, can't quite imagine getting twice as much.
You can control those ice dams using panty hose with some salt in a leg and lay it on roof so that it cuts through builds a channel. Put several of them acrose the roof and they will provide good drainage. You can use most any rock salt, the type you might use on sidewalks or even just good old water softener salt. Those dams could cause you a huge repair bill if left uncontrolled.

I've noticed none of these people living up in the mountains have snowmobiles. Something doesn't make sense. Maybe it's because I own a snowmobile!

We've had a bit more than our average here in western Wisconsin, which amounts to roughly a 1/10 of what you have. 😂 Can't imagine dealing with that much snow. Wow.!
