Haaaa. Nice cold one with a great barbecue after a long day of labor. Snow banks are ridiculous but beautiful at the same time. Thank you for sharing your day.
I'm down in San Diego and I am still shocked everyday that all this is happening in Cali. Thank you for the vids because seeing this from a personal point of view is much different than watching it on the news.
Greetings to the San Diego guy! I want to ask, How's the snow in Julian? And are there any snowy areas in Cleveland National Forest? Thanks from the northeast corner of the state. Mountains & Snow for us too!
I woke up this morning to a full 1/4" of snow in the UK, so i can feel your pain. Beginning to think i should get a Honda blower like yours. I've already told the wife and kids they need to get up on the roof with the shovel.
Watching from Buffalo NY and you have a LOT of snow! I enjoy your chill style to video taping and narrating the video - that is nice! Keep up the great content!
Just WOW! I live in Nebraska so have had to move snow. 1970s had this kind of weather. Have not had it this bad ever. Praying for all of you!! You need to get paid for a snowblower ad!
Well that was a fun watch! I have been snowed in for a week in Lake Tahoe in 1980. Also in Crestline in early 1970. The snow this year is unbelievable. Glad your video came up. Reminds me of happy times spent cross country skiing, in Montana, Idaho and California.
I worked at Mammoth Mtn Inn 1964-65, for the chef. But I worked an additional 4 hrs shoveling snow at night. It was fun. But after a stitch in the Army I went back to Sacramento I moved to Bishop in 1993. A lot less snow here. But I have a suggestion. Get some Bare Ground Snow Melt. It keeps the snow from sticking. A lot easier to shovel. Too, don't let the snow sit until the storm is over. Shovel every half hour or at least every hour. As you mentioned, shoveling snow that is many feet deep is hard work. That is how people die shoveling snow. By shoveling more often, the snow is never heavy. You can make a quick pass in your well traveled area in mere minutes. In 2004-05 we got 24 inches in Bishop. I was the last one to get to work at kmart that morning. Many people never made it. We were short handed. But few if any customers most of the day. We took turns shoveling the entrance way. Doing it often made it easy work. I figure we got near 20 inches in this recent big storm. I sprayed snow melt early, and shoveled often. Easy! No problem.
Thank you for the up date. I hate you have all that snow. It sure is beautiful around you. I liked seeing your ski lodges, & the lifts. Good to see the roads opening up more. Neat how the snowblower was glowing under the snow. I think that is great to be able to start your truck without being in it. 🙏
*****Saw a video from another resident in that entire area….said rain is in the forecast, and rain will get absorbed into the snow like a sponge which makes it very heavy…so it becomes critical to the point of cave-ins if snow is not removed from the roofs beforehand!!!!! Trying to stay on top of the shovelling is good throughout the snowfall!! Awesome video, man!!
watching from Germany. such an incredible amount of snow. here in the northern part of Germany we don´t have snow anymore. it makes me quite sad. But seeing this huge snowpiles makes me feel claustrophobic. stay healthy, stay safe!
Don't worry its called natural variance, you'll get snow sooner or later. 6 months ago they were screaming "mega drought" now there will be so much water from run off that a lot of it will just go out to the ocean. Well the snow melt on the Western side of the Sierra will go to the ocean, Eastern side drains into Owens Lake and Mono Lake.
Thank you for sharing these videos for those of us wondering what it really looks like there. Concerns for you all especially with this new system coming. I understand you folks are use to heavy snow, but this is looking pretty scary! I'd think about leaving possibly with your family, but prayers for wisdom for you all for what to do.
Been going to Mammoth since the late ‘50’s. Remember skiing on the 4th of July in 64. With this much snow the lifts might be open through August. This is epic and more snow on the way. Keep plowing!
That coyote is so hungry, I saw him on the balcony of the main lodge while I was looking at the web cam; he is hoping someone will give him anything to eat.
9:09 The white Chevy Colorado looks just like the one I own, even down to the canopy (topper) with the rack on top. White seems to be the most popular color of the Z-71 model.
The runs off the upper gondola must be magnificent. Dropping off the cornice, 35 feet into virgin powder, it doesn't get better than that! Yeah, the "extraordinary" snowfall has concomitant maintenance exigencies... This is a once in 20-30 year event: "BE THERE!"
These videos are great because we don't need to clear the snow. Keep up the good work. I would think you will need to think about where the rain and melting snow will go when the time comes.
You should be a spokesperson for Honda snowblowers!! They should be paying you for all the advertisement! That is a great machine when used correctly I see!
Amazing. I lived in town during the 94-95 big snow year. I tell stories of the 20' high snow banks driving through town but this definitely has that year beat. Back then they used dump trucks to take the snow down to Owens Valley. Still doing that? Stay safe.
Just keep the left handle pressed, so you can use your right hand to adjust everything on the go. No need to release the hydrostat to change direction or speed.
Glad to see you having a nice hot BBQ! Thursday through Saturday is suppose to be pretty bad. Get someone to bring in a convoy of dumb trucks and map out where they can dump the snow.
Dude I don't think I know your name? Anyways I'm a New Englander I am an outdoorsman I love winter. I get cranky when it's hot in 95 I don't have time for it. You have made me hate snow and winter. You know what they say too much of a good thing that's insanity. Thanks for the content and thanks for the cool vibe. 🤜🤛
Well I can sit here and watch you blow some snow or I can go out and do my own. I am sort of your neighbor, living on the eastern foothills of the Sierra about 10 miles south of Lake Tahoe. Probably not to your elevation though (5000'.) But, we do have snow. Been snowing since Christmas. Got my two stage SB in late January and it hasn't had a day off.
Much warmer precipitation pattern moving in for the Mammoth area. Snow line will rise, a lot. The models vary, but some predict another 10 feet to 12 feet of snow to fall above the snow line in the next ten days With the town of Mammoth Lakes at almost 8000', I'm guessing it will be mostly snow for you. You are, of course, absolutely correct. There will be no place to put it. The banks already bordering roads and driveways are at the point where blowers won't be able to throw the snow over the top. I suppose it will have to be moved into the roads, which will be reduced to one lane. If part of it is rain, that will be worse for you. The snow machines will break trying to blow that much sludge. If it gets soaked, then freezes, it is game over, with the snow winning in the end, until the warm spring sun arrives. I've enjoyed watching your fight against the snow, and watching you win. But I fear for everyone on the slopes of the mountain with what is about to come your way. If I were you, I'd leave for a San Diego vacation before the next storm blows in.
May sound like a strange question, but, does the snow give you insulation from cold or does it make your house colder? I was in high school in Fryeburg Maine in early 60's and we had snow on a regular basis, BUT NOT like what you have. We had road graders with a wing plow set at height of guard rail posts (about 24") and the snow was packed so hard that we used it as a side walk. Is much as you need water to fill reservoirs a quick melt would cause flooding. Best of luck to you all in Mammoth Lakes area. Thanks for the video.
It's hard to imagine that in November the weather forecasts here in Wyoming said that moisture was supposed to stay north and hit us. Southern Wyoming has gotten a good bit of it and yes they've broken some records but it coulda been a whole lot worse
Mammoth at 8,000ft should be ok. San Bernadino mtn areas might want to think about evacuating some of their more precous things to a friend's house in the low lands, away from flood zones.
Living in high altitude mountain areas can have serious consequences in the winter. First time I've heard of ski slopes closing because of too heavy a snow fall; usually it's the opposite. 84 degrees here in Florida for today; exceptionally warm. 😎
You might get a cold spell within a week if the cold front from the North west can prevail over the south eastern warmth coming up from the Gulf. If that happens it might just be damp cold.
Planning on coming up weds. Gonna pack in about 90% of our food to save for the locals. Even buying chains for my outback. Please keep me updated if you can friend! Best wishes!
I live in Southlake Tahoe and that’s bullshit. We don’t see mail for weeks. No one can afford to live here to work for the mail service. Thanks new Tahoe locals
Two things. Do the streets have sewers or catch basins for when the snow melts? I know that the side streets probably just run off into culverts, but I am curious how that much melt is going to be handled and if there are clogs in the village. Also. When all of those cars are parked along the road, are those people walking to the resorts or lodges, or are they just going down the hills or snowboarding near where they parked? Some of your shots make it seem like those cars are a long way from the ski lifts
Only a few sewers on the main streets (canyon , Main Street, old mammoth, etc..) … people park that far away and walk . Crazy to me when you can take the free bus to the village , jump on gondola to canyon and access everything 🤷🏻
please make sure to clear a path for the melt to get away from your house, just a small path away from the roofline so that the water can find a way to get away, and not go into the foundation.
I'm not married so I really, really need a Honda such as yours (I have a cat)... But need the reliability I see you experience as my rotator cuffs are shot at 69 years old. Do you have this in the description box ? I'm going to look. Thank you very much

Love how the dog was enjoying the snow

That is some crazy amounts of snow. I am still in disbelief. Prayers for everyone dealing with that.
Honda should really give you a new snowblower for all the free advertising you’re giving them! 😂
Those rock shoots up on the ridge have some great coverage, hardly any exposure. Nice👍
Love that winterwonderland look.😮
That Honda snowblower kicks butt. Looks like the chairs are almost scraping Gravy Chute.

When I was little we had many Germans and other Europeans come here to ski!
Thanks for sharing. We live in central MN and can only imagine getting this kind of snowfall!
You think you could build a herd of Snowmen....Great Vid.... I would be sick of snow I live in Ky, once is ok but 50 ft hell nope. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👀👀
Hellofamachine! Can’t imagine snow so deep the blower barely reaches the to!
Awesome looking dinner!
All I can do is shake my head in awe through this whole video. I had no idea this much snow existed.
Our ancient relatives once said the same thing looking up at the continental ice sheets.
Thank you for sharing these videos for those of us wondering what it really looks like there. Concerns for you all especially with this new system coming. Fifty feet of snow is just astonishing. And it's going to continue through most of the next ten days. It has to stop sometime.
Been going to Mammoth since the late ‘50’s. Remember skiing on the 4th of July in 64. With this much snow the lifts might be open through August. This is epic and more snow on the way. Keep plowing!
I feel for you folks having to deal with this colossal snow. I can't imagine dealing with all of that. Take care.
That coyote is so hungry, I saw him on the balcony of the main lodge while I was looking at the web cam; he is hoping someone will give him anything to eat.
Thats what I'm talking about!!!! Grilling or smoking food in a blizzard👍
Omy snow... Amazing to say the least. Never in my life have seen so much!!
9:09 The white Chevy Colorado looks just like the one I own, even down to the canopy (topper) with the rack on top. White seems to be the most popular color of the Z-71 model.
